This is a war that is biblical. There will never be a peace between Muslims and the Cristian and Jewish Peope. The oppoes it. Why are people and politians so nlind not to fully understand that the Quran and Tora and the Bible do not agree with the Quran. The Muslims want all Christians,Jews dead and gone period. Anyone who thinks otherwise wither you are President of the US a Liberal you are fooling yourself! Ignoring the reality of the destiny of the world as it is belived by the books I have mentioned is placing yourelf in a illusionary state of mind. Forget negoiations. Its not up to the US to solve everyone's problems. I hate this mentality. We are damed if we do and damed if we don't. They US does not have the power to waive a magic wand and help everyone. Only later to get blames, as in Iraq, Aftganistan and other country. We can not tell another Country such as Israel to honor its agreements have them listen. We can advise and do other things. I'm not saying thier system is perfect. However, you do not see the Christians killing to get what they want. You do however see the muslims doing this. They approve killing in the name of Jihad. What religion approves killing because you do not believe the same. Every country has thier own polical problems and there will never be a fair system for all. I'm not sure where you read your history. I spend 10 years in Lebanon and the system is hardly fair for the Christians you claim who run things. It quiet the opposite. I've seen Christian drive throught the wrong neighborhood get shot at and than arrested by the police, because they were in the wrong area to cause trouble. They were not the ones shooting. No one in Lebanon even dares to go collect for electricity in Hezbollah territories. Electricity is paid by those who live in either Christian areas or areas that are diverse. To suggest the Christian are weak is silly. They are tired of fighting. Did you forget the 16 year civil war. They are tired they want to live in peace. All they ask is that the rules be fair for all. If Hezbollah gets control of Lebanon the rules of the country will turn to muslims. Which are hardly fair for women or Christians. The main financial problems of the muslims, is the 4 wives and 20 kids they have. Who can afford to support a family like that. Sorry they need come to the reality, to provide for thier familys they cannot have 4 wives and 20 kids. I know one man who has 40 half brothers and sisters. We are not in the day and age where you can do this anymore. Its not fair to ask the government to pay for your family. Be responsible for yourself.

the christians have turned the other cheek....the christians have been dominating politics since the 30's and wealth has largely been held in their hands. the muslims (especially the shia's) have had little role in the gov and gotten little help from the government. Thus the rise and extreme support of Hezbollah. The christians brought it on themselves from way back so don't act like they are the victims.

actually, the article suggests that its the weakness of the christian sect of the government that is decreasing their influence in gov. That's not going into the fact that the Maronites in Lebanon have traditionally subjugated the Muslim majority in that country since they implemented a French back consitution giving most of the governments power to the Christians. Do your history before you talk.

The followers of Mohammed want no other religion to exist in the Middle East, or anywhere else for that matter. If you are not a Muslim, you are an infidel, a heretic, an outsider, somebody less than a complete person. This unlimited intolerance will result in nothing but unrelenting conflict in the years ahead. All these politically correct pronouncements that Islam is a religion of peace is nothing but crap.

I fear we will see fighting not only in the middle east, but in Europe, in Africa, in Asia, and in North and South America as well. Until the day dawns when muslims can respect and tolerate people of other faiths, there will be nothing but war interrupted by brief pauses while Islamists re-arm and re-organize. Lebanon is but one area where the West can see quite clearly what is in store, if we will only open our eyes.

This is nothing new, actually persecution of christians, whether in the middle east, asia, is spreading. It is an alarming fact that people are losing their lives for their faith, all because they proclaim the name of Jesus. It's getting out of control in pakistan. Christians, we should pray and extend support for our brothers/sisters in the faith, the persecuted churches all over the world.

We are all familiar with the attacks on the faith by militant atheists, either authors or archaelologists who come up with fallacies presented as facts none of which are historically true. We as christians should be encouraged knowing the bible teaches these times will come, but blessed is he who endures to the end. All the attacks only reaffirms my faith that it is in the name of Jesus Christ wherein the power lies, why else would all this assault be on one faith.

Jesus paid the price for our sins, whether you are muslim, jewish, buddhist, etc, it is in the sacrifice christ made that we are all reconciled back to God. No other faith highlights a perfect atonement for the sins of mankind, only christianity. Salvation is a gift from God, something nobody deserves no matter how many good works you do, it still does not cancel out your sins in the sight of a Holy God. God just loves us so much he fixed the problem, all we gotta do is come to Jesus today, make that sincere confession of faith, receive him in your heart

i agree with rharris2. If you know anything about Lebanon at all you would know that is the muslim extremist blowing up the Christians and the Christians turning the other check. At no time has the Christians struck back after all these bombings. You may want to read up more before you comment Evoluntionist.

The immigration trend is not a new phenomenon. The Lebanese started leaving Lebanon in the late 19th century (Gibran Khalil Gibran, Amin Al Rihani and others) and the trend strengthened in the 1950s and peaked during the civil war. Everybody in Lebanon is leaving due to a worsening economy, a complicated political situation, but most importantly due to lack of hope in the future. I don't think that there's a family in Lebanon from any faith that doesn't have a son or a daughter abroad.

This is a very strange article. There is mass exodus from Lebanon in general due to the lack of political security and it is not particular to Christians. Christian power in government has been reduced since the signing of the Taif Agreement at the end of the civil war in 1990 and not much has changed since then. Again, what indication do you have that this is a "Christian flight"? I don't see any statistics here that indicate that there have been more christians who left Lebanon than Muslims. As a Lebanese living in Beirut, I find this article to be quite misleading.
