    woot is onomatopoetic, remember that tv talk show hosted by Arsenio Hall...the audience made a motion , raised right arm and chanting what sounds like 'woot'...

    Woot. A Proper noun. Woot, a character from L. Frank Baum's original 'Wizard of OZ'. As in 'Woot the Wanderer. '
