Keep a can of lysol or bottle of disinfectant spray and papertowels handy to clean your work area 2 - 3 times a week. What ever happened to fresh air? The windowless buildings must be contributing to our ill health, too. Granted, the air is filtered, but how safe are the fiters? And how often are those filters being replaced?

What has helped me through all the bad vibes and working with sucky bosses has been this wonderful coaching I receive at www.healthyvibesuk.com I know it's hard to admit, but I need some help and careful instructions on how to deal with certain situations during my workweek. I would recommend life coaching to anyone. Thanks

unfortunately the case for me is my superiors/upper management in my workplace have numerous complaints with no avail. Ive been subjected to discrimination, intimidation, harassment, etc, etc. I have had to beg for benefits that are owed to me, I've even passed out/collapsed at work due to increased stress factors and retaliation for making the complaint to begin with!! It's amazing what some people are subjected to behind closed doors. I think It's lawsuit time!!

Yeah, are there any ideas on how to solve the boredom issue? I sit at work all day long and do nothing for 8 hours. It is very sickning and I haven't done anything this month yet. The only thing I do to keep at least half way sane is to browse the internet. Any ideas/solutions would be very helpful. I am also looking for a new job but will probably land back in the same boat again. Thanks.

I've been fortunate to be able to telecommute over the last four years, and it has made a huge difference regarding my overall stress level. Also find I rarely get sick. Always believed that ludicrously cramped work spaces, heightened noise levels, relentless fluorescent lighting, office tensions/bad vibes, and people coming to work ill made it tough to stay healthy on the job. Not having a rush-hour commute twice a day hasn't hurt either!

To CJS123: Would you mind sharing how you converted to a telecommuting position? What kind of work do you do? I am certain that I would be far healthier, physically and emotionally, if I could do my work via telecommuting. Please reply to deebee44@yahoo.com Thanks!

Well my place has all 5 of these things and the Supervisors don't help you, if anything they help to tie the noose to hang you...My commute to and from work is just the icing on the cake but I also find it's the same types of situations all over.
Both of my sisters are teachers with master degrees and they go thru similar crap in their field.
So I think life is getting to be this: stress and how to cope with it, your on a friggin carousel and all you do is change to another horse when you switch jobs.

Anytime you are bored out of your mind, you need to change your job or position within that field or take on more stimulating projects within your present position . It is a huge wake up call. Listen to it.

Here's a thought -- get up out of your chair, and go take a walk. If you can't go outside because of weather, walk around your building, if you can. Sitting on your butt leads to numerous problems, including an enlarged rump, weight gain, and joint problems because you don't move around.

I think a 6th reason an office environment could be bad for you is if you are bored out of your mind, (like me!) I would have liked to see how to avoid/solve this problem. Anyone else?
