To the 3 statements below. GIVE ME A BREAK. If a woman wants to enhance their breast they she should have the right to do so. Everyone has the right to do whatever they choose to do to themselves. Regarding the 3rd statement about "not enjoying sex"....come on now...are you serious? It's not like you're going to have silicone spewing out. They're in sealed bags. Get over yourself and enjoy your wife like you did when you first got married. Don't be so selfish and think it's only about you. If getting bigger breast makes her feel better about herself, so be it. Maybe you should get a penile enlargement, maybe that would make your wife feel better about what you're doing behind closed doors................

Comment: I would like a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, face lift, and anything else that will make me look and feel good about myself. But, I dont have the money. Where does some of these women get the money to pay for the surgeries? But to each, I wish the best. A women in her 50's and still looking good.

Things like getting breast augmentation may disgust some people and other think it's wrong - obviously, the postings reflect that. I had mine done 2 years ago when I was 47. I also had not done much for myself as far as frivolous things when my children were growing up and many years after. So after much thought and a lot of research -- I got the breast augmentation for "me", not anyone else. I felt so much better and felt very good. The pain and the healing wasn't nearly as bad as some people had said it would be. They look and feel very natural. And -- to all the people who disapprove, you really can't disapprove of something that we are doing to our own bodies and feeling great about ourselves. I would never ever encourage anyone to get this done if they were even remotely against it - but I for one, am so very happy that I did it and I have never regretted the decision one minute since.

Mooey558, your comment indicates that before your implants, you were ashamed of yourselves and looked down upon yourselves. And that the implants is what gave you confidence. In my humble opinion, it is a very shallow assessment of your own worth in your own eyes. Please think about it. Your comment indicates that your breast size takes top preference in your own assesment of yourself, and is the controlling reason of your confidence above your intellect and character.

I can understand why women want this done as alot of pressure in society is on us to look good . Unfortunantly i havenatural big breast before and after a kid i also broke my back now big ones are a pain why they might look great i think women should be aware big ones can cause problems to. I would be willing to give some of mine away if they had the surgery to do transplants i would donate mine. but most importanly i feel women should be happy about themselves and not feel pressured into having surgery.

I am 27 years old, and I envy women with smaller breast so much more. Its not that I have huge breasts, most people would say they are the perfect size not to big and not to small (32C). But 10 years ago I was size smaller,When will ever stop growing. I have never had kids and don't really want to for the reason my mother had the same size until she had me and then they jumped to (32 DDD). I don't think that I could deal
with breasts that large. It comes down to the fact women with larger breasts want smaller ones, so that they are not in the way all the time. Women with small breasts can't wait to find out what its like to have larger breasts -- Grass is always Greener on the other side, why can't we all be happy with what we have?

for the women that claims wome in their 40's are not baby boomers...if you are born 1964 and earlier your a babyboomer. so the statement is not misleading

I find Martha Lynn's comments hard to beleive for a few reasons:
    1. If she was so definite about what she wanted, then why didn't she sue? She probably would have had a very good case.
    2. I don't know of any plastic surgeons who do elective surgery, and yes implants (not reconstruction) is elective, without collecting the entire fee upfront.

I must admit, I am on the same page as you are. I have run the practices of four different surgeons/surgical practices at different times in my working history. I have NEVER, EVER even HEARD tales of a surgeon who practices in such a manner...at least not one who kept his license.

I left the medical field for the legal community - and must agree with your point here also. Off the top of my head I can come up with several negligence issues that would have earned Miss Martha a pretty penny. In such a litigious society, assuming everything she said was fact, I can't imagine at least 1/2 a dozen of her friends didn't encourage her to file suit...immediately.

My wife had the brest augmentation done just she wanted to show off to other men while we needed the $5100 for other more important things at home. I was and I am totally against it beacuse I was happy with and enjoyed her normal brests like they were when we married. Now that she had it done, I am even afraid to touch her brests when we make love, it just does not feel natural, they so tight and full that I feel like I am touching a volleyball or football. I am afradi to kiss and put her nipples in my mouth because being afraid or concern of boosting them and have all that silicon explode out of her brests. In cocnlusion, $5100 money spent and now I am not enjoying sex like before wiht her smaller breasts. We could have used that money better travelling or buying something for us

You know, I think that some people think it is degrading for women to enlarge or take the sag out of breast, but after going through the process and seeing how happy my wife is now. (I think she changed alot since childbirth) I am all for implants now. I actually love hugging and kissing her more now, not to mention other things. So, if you find it morally wrong, that's fine, but she is so happy now, it was definately worth the extra douch. Plus, she paid for them and I just helped pick them out at http://www.finestimplants.com Good luck to all. and Happy Holidays!

Where can you get breast augmentation for $3,600. You stated in your article that breast augmentation starts around $3,600. I would do it if I could find a doctor in Dallas, Texas for $3,600. In Dallas, Tx it starts at $5,000.

I, a 47yr old woman had a reduction and lift in 2004 and could not be happier. They are beautiful and full and sit well and high on my 5' 4 1/2" 150lb frame

What a very misleading article, these are NOT boomers, these are the children of boomers. Please check your age facts before listing something that is not correct.

    • Posted By: Me too @ 12/17/2007 5:22:16 PM

At 46, I am considered the tail end of the boomers, so yes we are boomers too.

This is more than a cultural and personal vanity issue. This is a public health crisis waiting to happen. Breast implants just aren't safe. Women getting complications within five years of getting them are more than 40%. AND, nothing associated with cosmetic implants is covered by insurance. That means that everything from initial implant to treatment for complications has to be paid for out of the family coffers! If the complications are really bad, this can push a family into bankruptcy. Mommy Makeovers see to me the height of selfishness.

    • Posted By: momknowsbest @ 12/17/2007 5:22:13 PM

that's not true. implants due to masectomies/breast removal due to breast cancer or cosmetic procedures to fix disfigurement due to accidents are covered. I don't think it's selfish at all for not wanting to be disfigured or deformed for whatever reason including breastfeeding. I think people who suffer from disfigurement suffer enough and don't deserve to be judged because you don't know what it's like unless you're in their shoes. therefore, I do agree however that one shouldn't opt for it if they are not able to afford it because going bankrupt for a boob job or any cosmetic procedure is just plain stupid.

that will not increase the size of the breast, which is adipose (fat) tissue. It will, however, stregthen your pectoralis major and pectoralis minor muscles, respectively. It will not lead to a marked increase in a womans bust due to the fact that women do not normally produce enough testosterone to merit a vast increase in muscle size.
