Why don't we join India ....? We will still be better off, these crooks are worse than being in control of
    Indian Government

Comment: The reason for the violence in Pakistan including the murder of its most popular leader Benazir Bhutto is the presence of incompetent military dictatorship. The only competence imparted by the military academy is how to be a good poodle of US and how to make a fortune in real estate. About everything else, the military leadership is utterly useless. The false western belief that Military General would stop the wave of extremism is an illusion. The extremists in Pakistan were promoted by the vicious military-US alliance to fight against the Soviets. The only plausibe way to reverse it is to intoduce democracy, rule of law, economic development and modern education. If West is sincer, it should help Pakistan get rid of Musharaf and help pakistan and Afghanistan rebuild its institution. The continuation with the present military style collaboration shall further widen the gap between west and the people of pakistan.

Comment: I just can't believe a man can be so ruthless and hugry of power that he would do every possible thing including merdering one of the greatest leadrs of the world and kicking off judiciary who dared to go against her. Government's involvement cannot be denied in Benazir's assasination as the course of events tell us. There wre security lapses as evident from the presence of huge crowds at the exiting gate which was supposed to be no-go area. The sight was washed with pressure pipes to erase every possible evidence. thanks to digital technology whcih captured the scene of her death which was tried hard to get covered. If Musharaf wants to prove that he has not killed her, he should rather call for UN investigation, other wise he is a sure murderer along with his "minions".

Comment: Musharraf has spent more than three decades in Military institution which has everything specific appropriate to its specific needs and requirements and certainly poles apart from the civilian set-ups. As any erudite and competent civil bureaucrat can obviously not be expected to efficiently conduct any routine or grand military exercise - likewise it is equally perplexing, unmanageable and knotty for a military general (no matter how professional he may be) to appropriately read, perceive, comprehend and grasp the peculiar technicalities of the civil matters concerning the civilian institutions. Aside of this, Musharraf desperately needs to be gently given a sincere advice to ponder over id est " to shrink from and ideally shun his-THERE ARE TWO SIDES OF EVERYTHING - THE WRONG SIDE AND MY SIDE-approach."

Comment: We are experts in making a state as failed state. It is very simple create army rule, it automatically fails all other institutions, that result bad governance, corruption, poverty, and now we are a failed state.

    Comment:
My conviction in the saying of President Musharraf was confirmed by an interview of the Ex-Judge Dost Mohammad Khan of Peshawar High Court that the Judges have been influenced by some one else when the said Judge said that ???America and United Kingdom is not putting pressure on the President Musharraf???.
It is a strange phenomenon that some time our ???elders??? blame the above Countries for the interference in our domestic affairs but some time they drag these Countries in our affairs. What prompted the said Judge to say that ???America and U.K should pressurize the President of Pakistan???? Are the above Countries solutions for all the problems in Pakistan? Is the said Judge justified in saying so, being an ex-Judge of the High Court? Why we forget out self-respect and dignity in opposition of others? On one side we desire to see an independent Judiciary, on other side, it???s learned Judges are eager to impose on us the hegemony of ???Super Powers???. In the presence of such thoughts in the minds of such judges how we can say that they were impartial, indifferent and loyal to the Constitution and the sovereignty of Pakistan? For God sake please, do not play with the people of Pakistan these are human beings not your toys for playing.
Pakistani nation despite with low literacy rate has got sufficient maturity of thoughts that they were neither brought to the road by the ???Agitating type of Political Parties??? nor they approved the behaviour of the ???Learned Judges and Lawyers??? in coming to the roads and streets for the solution of the issues.
Even all the opposition Political Parties are not unanimous themselves on the issues on which they wish to bring out to the roads the people of Pakistan. On one side they ask the people to boycott the election on other side they apply to the Election Commission of Pakistan for electoral signs. This duplicity in the conduct and character has destroyed the image of those political parties in the eyes of the people. Thanks to Musharraf for providing an opportunity to the people to decide freely and to elect their rightly guided leaders in the next election. The people of Pakistan will show the approval of the steps so far taken by Musharraf by full participation in the electoral process. But one suggestion to Musharraf, NEVER FORGET THE POOR OF THIS COUNTRY AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THIRD PHASE OF YOUR DEMOCRATIC STEP.

Comment: Musharraf has been the most repressive of military regimes Pakistan has experienced. He has quashed and perverted our constitution, prisoned judges of Supreme Court , brutally baton charged lawyers, students, women, human rights activists and members of civil society, who were agitating peacefully against state terrorism. It is shocking to witness the US regime supporting such a brutal dictator. How will the American and British public react, if their President or PM were to sack Chief Justice of Supreme Court alongwith 60% of other judges, put them behind bars and not allow them to attend church on Christmas. Musharraf has created such a void between the army and the people of Pakistan, that it is a threat to our national security and the war asgasinst terrorism. There can be no hope of free or fair elections with a rubber stamp judiciary and Election Commission. The vast majority of Pakistanis are moderate, who cherish democracy and basic human rights. Islam does not allow use of violence, except in self defense, nor does it sanctify monarchy or dictatorship as a system of government. The democratic system of governance is more acceptable and closer to the Islamic system of governance, which emphasises on consent of majorit y for the ruler. It is time that the Western regimes start supporting the people living in Asia or Africa instead of the repressive military dictators thast rule them. Democracy alone is the best defense against rise of extremism and not the oppression leashed b y Gen Musharraf.. Mallick Tarrick (tartmpmlk@hotmail.com)

Comment: I really dont see what's going on .. it seems as if most ppl dont see what musharaf has been up too all this while .. religion has been his catalyst to stay in power much like communism was , for the dictators during the cold war !!!
figures look amazing when you see them on paper .. ONLY ! there has been no practical implementation , nothing that shows that poverty is infact declining ... people are still deprived of basic eminities of life .. the poor is getting poorer and the rich , richer ! it's high time peopel understood .. no Tom , Dick or Harry is going to come and change our conditon .. we need to bring in ourselves that change , starting from a very intrinsic level .. we've had enough of a handful of filthy politicans ruling off a the entire nation ! it's a wake up cal people .. start making changes now ... cause times to come are going to be harder , more brutal and tough if we dont !

Comment: In the extremely difficult and complicated situation in Pakistan, the present developments are more than welcome. At least a democratic process is on...and the media despite the "code" has begun to express its mind. President Musharraf has succumbed to the all round pressure and at least allowed some gas to escape from the pressure cooker on the boil. I believe that it is only a matter of time (that is when his current mentor in White House packs his bags) that the Pakistanis and the world would hear the clear pressure cooker whistle.

Comment: I totally agree with Musharraf, until you live in Pakistan all your opinions of its politics are unfairly swayed by biased media. I believe Westerners need to keep this in mind when forming thoughts and opions about nonwestern societies in particular. The Pakistan I live in doesn't resemble the country my family back in the West has built up in their minds from news reports.

Comment: It is surprising that while living in Pakistan, you can agree with Musharraf, who has brought nothing but misery to the common man, who doesn't care if the economy is growing @ 7 percent. The common man cannot afford to eat, nor does he have access to clean drinking water. But things will only get worse until they reach the depths of depravity. Only then will the person with who has real power will rise up against the tyrrany and oppression of this dictator: the common man.

Comment: Bhutto is not the opposition but is being promoted as such by us and western media. Both Uncle Mush and the BB are US puppets. They have a show of anger at each other which is meaningless like World Wrestling Federation wrestlers throwing plastic chairs on each other.

Comment: what really baffles me is that Pakistan has not produced even one leader in the 8+ years that Musharraf has been on the throne. are there only bhutto and sharif, who if i understand correctly, were derided as epitomes of corruption the last time they headed the government? what do pakistanis expect will be different from the 90s if either of these 2 get to form the government?

  • Posted By: nawawimohamad @ 12/16/2007 3:45:18 AM

Comment: I think the Pakistani people are very foolish for not wanting to have a strong and stable government. The Pakistanis are more concerned with politics and the western-imposed democracy. Despite having communist rule in Russia and China or military backed Taiwan, these countries are developing and becoming stronger in economy and their people living in peace. So why not just let Musharraf continue ruling Pakistan and work on the economy so that the Pakistanis do not stay poor. What is so good about democracy and changing the leadership so often when for years and years the people remained poor? There has never been a political stability in Pakistan- only squables and each time it is the military who saved the situation. So do not change your leader for the sake of democracy, change the country for the betterment of its people. Or maybe the Pakistanis have got nothing much to do and prefer to stay poor!

Comment: Why have you asked such reduntant questions? Will you restore the judges? Will you free the media?

He imposed emergency because of that! How could he restore them back! I think the Western media has portrayed Pakistan and Musharraf in a poor light, while glorifying Benazir Bhutto as a bastion of democracy. Benazir is less 'democratic' than Musharraf. She can be accused of all the crimes Musharraf has commited, even more. Musharraf is well on his way to becoming another Vladimir Putin.

Comment: Its such a shame that Musharraf is lying again and again and western countries are still supporting him. You can never win hearts of Pakistani people by supporting a dictator like him. I have a question for you Lally. He mentioned that the supreme court chief justices was dismissed because he was planning a conspiracy against him. Why the high courts judges dismissed. Were they also part of this. This is all LIE. Shame on Pak Amry

      • Posted By: Zeeshaan @ 12/19/2007 15:35:50

Comment: Sure Musharraf has done alot for the Pakistani people. The price of everyday commodities is increasing day by day and the common man is being relegated to starvation! If the economy is improving so much, why the inflation? Reason: Musharraf is as corrupt if not more so than his predecessors.

Comment: This will be quite better to ask from the all and all Musharaf that why you jailed the secular or open minded and why the taliban or terrorist moving around every where in pakistan
The main reason of emergency impositions were to eliminate terrorist attacks but they continue
How the situations going worst at Swat velly to make a basis for emergency and how it is controlled with in the time fram of lifting emergency
Can this not show that all these situations are self generated
Why you freed those terrorist who are arrested by planning for suicide attacks

Why the security forces more than 200 are handed over to few taliban

Why the operations taking place before start of elections

whether this is not a planned operations for rigging and support for the religious parties of Maulana Faz

If the emergency were emposed to fight freely, against terrorist then why the seculars were jailed and arrested

Whether the emergency to give listen to the moderate or against secular and HRC people

How a group grow to challange the rit of the governement

What the steps that is taken during emergency to eliminate or just to screen out those media who were libral and make the people aware of the situations

who freed the red mosque terrorist and where that judges, not sitting in the existing supreme court judges

To US News papers or news channel your basis for imposing emergency were to fight against terrorism freely

but to AL-Jazira Musharaf owned that the main purpose of emergency were to out the judges who were going to oppose his presidency

Any one can ask for these statements
