First Tuesday of Huh?

Every four years Americans select a president. Given our crazy system, it's a miracle that we manage to seal the deal.

Comment: Finally, someone of significant national importance states the obvious: Dayloght Savings Time makes no sense.

Comment: Once again, Anna Quindlen's column hits the nail on the head. Why on earth don't we all vote in presidential primaries on the same day? By the time we vote in Indiana (May 8), it will be a done deal. Talk about feeling like our votes don't matter! It gets harder and harder to feel like individuals matter at all.

Comment: It is ironic this is brought up in one of my favorite columns! I will no longer vote because of some of the things Anna brings up here. Because I don't, two other people won't either. I dragged them out before, but no longer. We will only be watchin here in "doesn't matter" Idaho. Good Luck America.

Comment: Anna Q.s 1st Tuesday is a good start but there needs to be general dissatisfaction with the horribly inefficient ,expensive (and possibly corrupt) campaign system) and the election process as well.

Comment: Is anyone thinking that it might be a good idea to have a super primary day for all States? By the time Oregon gets around to its primary, the leader for the General Election will have been decided. We have found voting by mail to be very easy and there are no voting machines to break down!

Comment: Approval Voting is such a simple and brilliant way to immediately upgrade our democracy, and make elections more fair and representative. What a timely article. More people need to find out about this, and a great place to start is by reading William Poundstone's forthcoming book _Gaming the Vote: Why Elections Aren't Fair (and What We Can Do About It)_
