Just imagine the number of deaths that may have occurred if the taser wasn't available for officers to use, the next step after O.C. spray before Tasers were on the market was lethal force. I think their a great tool when used the way they were intended. I.m a certified Taser instructor and have been tased several times with no side effects. Bottom line is don't do anything to warrant getting tased and it won't be a problem to worry about.
I like the bag of noodles comment, I think they should throw donuts instead. Face it, we all know the "civialian" police authorities seldom are there when things go "down". They show up later and write reports. So protect yourself first, by any means available. If cops are allowed to have devices that can knock a person down and give some of those persons heart attacks and die, then we should have them too. But get training first, CPR training.
A Taser is a poor substitute for a real handgun. If you think you need a Taser, buy a real handgun instead.
Yes you will get a new one after you file a police report . Whats wrong with that? Your not going to go around fire this thing for fun or just to show your friends. How many times do you think you will actually have to use it? As a taser instructor/Police Officer i can tell you in 2 yrs i have used mine once. Your not tasing evreyone that disagrees with you, they better be infilicting or ready to inflict bodily harm to you before you use it. Tase someone for the wrong reasons and your open to criminal charges PROPER TRAINING is needed with this device.

Dear Sarah, Did you ever wonder why we have nuclear weapons? Because then we can be the biggest badass on the block and noone will mess with us, therefor, no fights. If everyone had a Taser and the threat was there that if you dissed someone they could light you up, lots more people would be smiling and opening your door. As far as a right -HELL YES. these things are great for people who live in states without right to carry laws, people who can't carry at work, when they go to malls(Omaha), banks , college campuses,(how about Virginia tech.) and other " gun free "zones where even people who have CCW permits can't carry.
My husband just bought 750,000 volt tazers for myself and three daughters, just so we can protect ourselves and possibly get away in a would be attack. He purchased them off ebay for less than 50 dollars a piece and they fit into cigarette packs if you want to be different.

Forget about religion, political points of view, pointing fingers at those that don't agree with you and Just have a good heart. Look for the good in every situation and how you can work together. What I am trying to say is be happy, be kind, and be good. It does not matter what the other person believes. I once knew a person that wanted to protest about something no matter what. The goal is to create something that looks similiar to a flashlight or remote control, so that a women can carry them in the open, in the hand, while walking to thier car in a dangerous area. The use of these by law enforcement is a violations of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and

You say you do not favor gun control....which means you believe everyone should be able to own a gun free and clear, and thus use it free and clear. At the same time, you state no one should be allowed to own or use a tazer due to it is "cruel and unusual punishment." A gun kills, a tazer merely stuns and allows for a would be victim to gain back some control of what might have been a fatal situation. I;m all for the tazers being used to protect a civilian!!! Im all for it! Anyone that is against it obviously has never feared for there safety! I have two and Ive taught both of my daughters how to use them...women should consider them (and pepper spray) as an accessory...she should always have means of protection....whatever that entails!
These things are in human and the cops should not even have them! I am a very conservative person and when the police use these they are violating the constitutions of the United States and the Bill of Rights.

I have 2 and I love them Ive taught both my daughters to use them I wish I wouldve seen this before I bought all my Christmas gifts! They should be an accessory for women!
Everything can be a tool or a weapne, depending on the use. If you shot the thing and miss, you're SOL. If you have somethng that you can use in close range (knife, spray or elecro shock device) it can be taken away. Many people will own them responsibly, others won't. There are no absolutes. If you want to be armed fine, if you feel begging for the bad guy to go away, you can always try that approach.
i think that it is great that they have another product that is easy to use. as far as right to carry, i say hell yes just like pepper spray , and the other non lethal self defense tools. especially for people who's state dosen't have a right to carry law, or in say a mall( like omaha) or school where they restrict people who legally carry a firearm (virginia tech) and can not carry them there. this is a great tool until some retarded restrictions are removed.
