I am a life-long democrat, and will vote for whomever the democrats ultimately nominate, but I hold both Clintons personally responsible for inflicting George Bush on us all. Both Clintons refused to deal with Bill's sex addiction and left the democratic party and the country wide open for the Bush onslaught. And I see no indication that either Clinton has yet received the appropriate therapy needed to overcome the dysfunctional and distorted thought processes that accompany addiction.

As for experience, none of the senators in either party have any experience in the executive branch. Senators make laws. They do not draft or administer budgets, appoint judges or cabinet members, or over-see day-to-day operations of a government. In short, they have no experience governing.

John Kennedy was the last senator elected - all our presidents since 1964 have been either vice presidents or governors.

In short, senators are losers. That includes Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Biden, Thompson and McCain. None of them have the right kind of experience to be president.

Governors Richardson of New Mexico, Romney of Massachusetts, and Huckabee of Arkansas are the 3 candidates with experience governing. (Giuliani, while of the executive branch, was only a mayor. Even though being mayor of New York is one of the harder mayoral jobs, it is no where near the same as being governor of a state.) Of the 3, only Richardson has also been an ambassador to the United Nations and head of a federal department at the cabinet level, all of which provide him with more experience than the other 2 governors, and more by far than the whole pack of inexperienced senators.

Obama is rolling. It's his nomination to lose now. I am one soldier who hopes Mr. Obama takes this thing. We need his type of politics in The White House now.

If you are truly in the Armed Services, why would you support a candidate who can't even be bothered to place his hand over his heart during our National Anthem? He takes off his flag pin, stating that his actions will speak for him, and then routinely pulls stunts like this. He has no respect for for this country or for the role of Commander and Chief.

As for Hillary, go back and see how much respect she and her staff showed the brave men and women who served in the White House during her co-presidency. She had them dress in suits so Bill didn't have to salute.

Is it easier to follow a Commander and Chief who lies? You need to check your facts about Obama's statement regarding the flag pin and why he does not wear it. As far as the pledge is concerned~there are plenty of American born citizens who do not say the pledge. Some for religious reasons and others because it is difficult to align yourself with national policies that are not in the common good of the people. But this statement is not totally true. Look up what Obama said in regards to these issues.

By the way, did Hillary have a plastic surgery recently? She looks so impersonal, even her smiles look fake. Although to be fair to the former First Lady, she sounds intelligent and perhaps, too ambitious;but I am not seeing or hearing anything new from her to warrant being labelled an agent of change. On the other hand she comes across as someone who is allergic to criticism and a person likely to to adopt dictatorial tendencies. Her husband is also likely to embarass her with sexual scandals. Now, do Americans have a problem with that? Of course Americans would be pissed off with her administration in the very first month of her administration except there is nothing they can do about it once she has taken oath of office.

Maybe Chelsea will host wet t-shirt contests in the Oval Office! Of course she will have to keep her friends away from Bill...

HILLARY CLINTON IS NOT GOING TO ONLY BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT ... SHE IS THE GREAT LADY AND SHE WILL WIN .. BECAUSE SHE IS GOING TO HELP THE IMMIGRANT PEOPLE .. THATS WHY WE SUPPORT HER ... SHE IS THE BEST I LOVE HER ......WHETHER SOME PEOPLE LIKE IT OR NO ....SHE WILL WIN ..

Sean2002: You say: " We are informed people. We will not allow anybody to brainwashed (sic) us. "
Who exactly is the "we???"that you are talking about? You sound like you are very young indeed. Generally, as we get older and wiser we learn to appreciate the great value of experience. By the way, by definition, all experience is "past experience." Experience means being able to build upon what has been learned in the past, and reject what does not work, without having to go through the learning process all over again. And, yes, most definitely, we need change and a new direction from where we???ve been going in the past eight years. But, any of the Democratic hopefuls can, would and will give the country that. However, given the present situation and the very complex, fast moving, world of today, it is unnecessarily risky to entrust the vast power of the Presidency of the United States to a new and untried ???learner??? of the job, especially when we don't have to. Experience, when used correctly, is an invaluable asset.
I agree with the choice the Des Moines Register made and with their reasons for making that choice

Until a President is elected to a second term, they are all inexperienced at being president. Being a CEO or a Senator does not prepare you for being Commander and Chief.

  • Posted By: dewcooper @ 12/19/2007 9:01:47 AM

One day Hillary will realize that she is her own worse enemy. All another candidate has to do is bring out her 'record' when she was co-president (corrupt staff, $400 haircuts on Air Force One, personal tirads, socialized healthcare, sexual harrasment, her husband's perjury, her 'legal' stance on terrorism and its results - 9/11, Rose Law Firm billing records, support of Palistine over Isrial, etc.). All of the things she could duck as first lady she may now, and should, have to address. Maye she can een tell us how she made $100,000 trading commodities without a single loss. That should help the economy.

The press has to have something to talk about. Hillary is comfortably ahead. The republicans and the press has been successful at portraying Hillary as a "monster". She has done a solid job at shedding that image -which is completely untrue. She may NOT win Iowa, but she WILL WIN everywhere else. I pray she can pull a miracle in Iowa, because then, it would be OVER. We could all unite as Democrats around the Clinton machine -which is the only hope we have in a post 9/11 world.
Keep it up Hill, your time has come.
    Go !
    Hillary 2008!

    The USS Hillanic has struck the iceberg Obama, gashing a huge hole in her hull;
enormous amounts of amounts of water are pouring in and she is listing horribly. Rescue efforts are severely complicated by gale forces winds from hurricane Oprah. The most recent and valiant effort efforts to save the passengers and crew are summed up in the ad "I should be president because, my Mom likes me!"

By the way, did Senator Clinton undergo a plastic surgery recently? She looks so cold on TV, even her smiles look fake. This aside, I think Americans would be in for a rude shock should they make a mistake of electing Mrs.Clinton the POUS. There will be sexual scandals, polarization and witchhunting on a scale never witnessed in this country before. Hillary cannot tolerate criticism from the opposition, from within her own administration and from the media; she would go to any lengths to settle a score. Do Americans have a problem with that? Of course Americans would be pissed off by Hillary in the very first month of her administration!

Congratulations Hillary is what Sen Biden had to say on CNN. He went on to describe the process with the
editorial board as being arduous and fair; it listened to all of the candidates. I'm very happy for her. I agree
with the DMR that she is the most prepared, experienced leader. As a vetern, with so many challenges ahead of us, Sen.Clinton is a proven leader for our interests. I hope everyone who may not be sure of where she stands on the issues will take the time to do their own research. Go to her website, use independent
sources and factcheck. We Democracts have been fortunate to have such a talented field. Our challenge
is to select the best individual to carry on and WIN to become the 44th POTUS!

I recently viewed the video of Obama's comments on drug use to the high school students. I did so in light of
recent events. It is my feeling that his comments were made in an effort to further his campaign. It was the
wrong venue. He offered NO cautions to the students. His comments were ultimately made for self-serving
reasons to avoid the extent of his drug use being later explored by others. I have a daughter in HS. I would
not her to hear, from some admired person ,that it is OK to use all kinds of drugs while they were goofing
off and trying to get their head on straight.. He could 've chosen a different audience. And, the press should
stop fawning. Think about your kids...what if they were in that class? In this day of drugs and steriods?

So Hillary supporters just like her camp are propagandists who think as long as they keep repeating the same slogan, then voters will vote for her.

      No way!

Hillary simply isn't the change America needs in 2008, and it seems the nation is finally waking up to that, with her slips in polls across the board. Obama is our best hope by far for the future.

Now it is the 21st century. We are on the Internet all the time. Nowadays, we can learn things much quicker and have extensive information resources at our finger tips. We used to rely on political pundits or editorial pages, because these fellows had access, which we didn't have. Now, because of the Internet we all can gain information quickly, even insider information. This has taken away the monopoly of a select few who control and filter the information for us. As a result, we no longer consider political pundits or editorial pages as authorities because many times our collective common sense can be more accurate and better. (Don???t forget it is the nation???s information elite who blindly gave Bush the go-ahead for the Iraq War.)

Plus, the abundant information resources and the readily available information shorten our learning curve. In the past, if it took 5 years to learn/know something, now probably 1 year. Since everybody has become smarter than previous generations, what is required of a leader is not so much ???past experience,??? but the ability to digest new information, build consensus, and make accurate judgment. That???s why we have many CEOs or founders of the companies such as Google and Yahoo in their 30s. Does lack of ???past experience??? prevent them from building many of today???s great companies? This can apply to a political candidate too. Should the length of a candidate???s ???past experience??? be the determining factor of his/her qualifications? Is the ???past experience??? a burden or an edge of a candidate?

Hillary and McCain make their ???past experience??? as their strengths. But their experience is mainly in the 20th C, which might not be relevant in this drastically different 21st C (Still in its infancy, Internet has revolutionized the world). In addition, their ideology was shaped by the 20th C, which might be a burden not a plus in the 21st C.

So when the Des Moines Register???s editorial board considered Hillary and McCain have more experience as the reason for their endorsement, we cannot help but lament that in this Internet age these editorial board ladies still used such a conventional and old fashion way to determine our future leader. We don???t doubt their seriousness and sincerity, but are disappointed by their conservative thought process and lack of bold vision for our future leader.

We must remember what these ladies referred to is the ???PAST EXPERIENCE.??? We should ask ourselves is the experience in the past still so relevant now when the world is moving faster than ever? Will the ideology formed in the 20th C be a burden? What kind of vision the future leader can provide us when he/she is so conditioned by the past?
