    Justin Fatica taught at my high school and worked with him while he taught there. Look at the HBO special and you will clearly find out one major thing. Fatica is a sell out. A man of God would not be going on all these tv shows and have a movie starring himself made. He used Paramus Catholic High School. He called people that seemed to use people a 'smooth operator'. Simply puit, Justin Fatica is a smooth operator, using the kids he taught for his own profit and fame.

    I think the writer of this article is not intriguing or likable, and like all the fundamentalist leftists who ridicule this guy for not wanting to make our society a hell with your abortions, drugs and assisted suicide murders betrays more about his own insecurities and guilt about the fickleness of his life writing for what has become essentially a half leftist party journal and half tabloid posing as real news than he does about this man who is giving his life to try to bring people to Christ.

    You people completely ignore all the humble statements he makes and all the kids who say they love them because you're all selfish and only worried about covering your own asses and pretending that your fanatical leftist beliefs are all godly and pure and anyone who challenges them is a demon cult leader.

    Mr. Fatica taught at my highshool and at first it was nice to have someone that was young helping teens have an interest in God. I remember seeing him in the hall ways in the morning and he would encourage me to go to mass.....then i went on the retreat every year until my junior or senior year when he became an extremist....so much so i was unable to relate to him...i would put my book across my face and dodge him in the hallways....If he didnt turn into such a hostile fanatic i believe that he could of achieved better results...if i ever see him i the streets i would not say hi to him because God says thou shall not judge and he judge those who were uninterested into going to the retreats (especially those who had commitment to other religions) and my number one reason for disliking him is...he uses his extreme behavior to gain popularity and instead of standing up for whats right he decides to turn the other way. A teacher at my school was wrongly accused who by the way was his mentor......instead of taking up for that teacher he helped get him fired...what kind of christian would do that....i know in his hearts of hearts he knows he was wrong and i hope he ask for Gods forgiveness b/c he was coward and instead of doing what was right to me that a sin...we are Gods people not only shall you be loyal to God but be loyal to his creatures...do not call girls fat to help boost your ratingS!!

    justin fatica is amazing. he talked at my church's youth group and his words touched each and everyone of us. he does not beat jesus into anyone. he was there to tell us that no matter what you do, God is there watching and he is always there for you. no matter what you do he still loves you. he basically told us to be smart about the decisions we make. he is an amazing person, a great personality and he knows what he is doing.

    he actually taught at my high school and i do not agree with his view of pushing religion on teens at all..if anything this drew me further away from the church and the programs my school had. He is loud rude and out of control. He saw me yawning one day during a annual retreat my high school had and continued to point me out saying jesus saw me yawn stating that somehow me being tired in school was showing my lack of commitment towards my religion. The man lucky left the school during my senior year and they are better off, he is not street smart nor do i think he cares about the children themselves but would rather hear himself talk, praise hiself for the "good deed" hes doing and make money. He is making a profit this is not a man that is living a simple and frugal like the bible teaches. Religion is becoming a comodity in this country from church being broadcast on tv to mall like cathedrals and his hard as nails movement is no help.

But, you protest, he's just trying to "save" them from "hell", right? Only if you believe a "loving God" is capable of making a place of eternal torture for his "children". That's more an indication of how f**ked up your beliefs are than anything else.

      I'd like to start with saying nice use of language. I would like to remind u that God is just as well as forgiving. If you apologize for your sins, he we not condemn you to hell, if you are not sorry and don't apologize, then like any good father he is going to punish you. It's called tough love. I've heard him speak a few times and he doesn't scare people into becoming good Christians, yeah he's intense but he's just excited about what he believes in and I don't see anything wrong with that.

    ok...first off....i am not judging that this man is a follower of jesus...however, i am not quite sure i agree with him at all. Self proclaimed prohpet?????????? red flag number one....and the violence...not needed to reach teens bud...i am a christian teen and i have a pastor who reaches teens amazingly, but not with this.

    God didn't create a hell, the devil did. God doesn't want anyone but the devil and his followers to go and stay in hell. God never meant for humans to go to hell. Therefore, hell wasn't created for the people of God.
    If you are a sinner, you are a follower of the devil whether you believe in him or not. Followers of the devil will go to hell with the devil. If you are a sinner, and you ask Jesus to come in your heart, and live according to the Holy Scriptures, then you'll have a one way ticket to heaven, "It is through that way only."
    Many teens commit suicide, even if you claim to be a Christian and take your life, you will spend eternity in hell along with the unbelievers. If you turn your back on God, and curse him, you will spend your eternity in hell.
    You say, "He doesn't exist, it's all in those stupid Christian's mind."
    What are you going to do when you die and find it does exists?
    All this guy is trying to do, is save the teens from the what if it does exists event.

      I'm lost as to where you find that the devil created hell. I am quite sure that I have ever seen that in the bible... maybe you could point me to a scripture... :)
      You say that sinners will go to hell with the devil, so what, are you above sin? Every single person sins every single day, but you must not be one of those... You are confused and scared more than those teens...

    Why should someone have to fit a specific mold to spread the word of God? Our children need someone they can relate to. These kids are listening to him talk about God and they are PRAYING with him and they are SINGING with him about God!!!! How is this wrong???????????Good for him for hearing his calling and spreading the power of prayer amongst our children. Shame on you who are trying to stop him.................

    What I meant was that this guy does not represent biblical Christianity. And that magazines like this will highlight guys like this but will never, ever, do a story of an authentic Christian missionary or Pastor; taking pretty much the sentiment like yourself who thinks all Christianity is absurd; authentic or not.

    True Biblical Christianity does work, why don't you do some research. Right about 1963 when Christian prayer/bible was nationally/formally taken out of american schools; see how all the charts on crime, teenage pregnancy, drug use, etc and etc sky hooked off the charts - right after 1963. I know you may think teaching kids that we came from amoebas or that we all come from some impersonal cosmic consciousness may do the trick but in my parents day they had no Columbines; it wasn't perfect back then but it was light years from what it is now.

    By the way this guy is Roman Catholic; just what is your definition of "fundamental Christian" seems like that can mean most anything these days.

    One can read between the lines and this article would have to be 90% a boldface lie in order to begin to allow legitimacy for this preacher of the false gospel. Which I know is not the case. The whole reason these rags print these kinds of stories is because they make christians looks nutty, which is what they want to do, when's the last time one of these main-line magazines did an article on a Billy Graham crusade (when he was touring a short while ago) get the picture.

    You adults who allow this will reap the results 5, 10, 15 years down the line and they won't be pretty.

      This article is not meant to make Christians look nutty, it's meant to show the absurdity in fundamental Christian tactics. Frankly, it's a bit sad that children are being scared into such a black and white set of principals. You should never be forced into believing something, you should reach the conclusion on your own.

      I'm sure some of the messages this uneducated high school drop out preacher spits is swell. Stay off drugs, abstinence, etc. But this is again an example of how ignorant supernatural America is slowly becoming. Instead of preaching consequences (addictions, career opportunities going down the shitter, and baby's running around) Justin scares them out of their seats by claiming they will go to the infamous "hell".

      In the end, it's a quite pitiful display.

    Why would anyone practice a religion that is based on deceit, violence, and death?

    For example, in the so-called ???beginning,??? of this wonderful religion, God created Adam and Eve, a tempting tree, and a deceitful snake.

    As we all know, Eve decides to eat from the tempting tree because the serpent encourages her to do it. After eating from the forbidden tree Eve wants to share the ill-gotten fruit with Adam, who gladly partakes in the forbidden item.

    Under normal circumstances, what might be a good punishment for stealing fruit? An apology and payment for the goods? Maybe suspension from the Garden of Eden for a few days? NO, these punishments are insanely light compared to what God meted out. God forced Adam and all humankind to toil/work for a living for the rest of their lives, while Eve and all women were punished by monthly menstrual cycles and the pains of child birth.

    Both Adam and Eve and all of their children and their children's children (humankind) were banished from eternal bliss or heaven. That is, the only way humankind will be allowed into heaven again is if God's only son (yet to be created) comes to earth and dies a brutal and violent death. Isn???t this divine child abuse! Does Jesus' brutal killing violate God's own commandment of "Thou shalt not kill?"

    So was Jesus setup by God? God is omniscient and therefore knew Adam and Eve would eat from the tempting tree setting up Jesus' gruesome death, so everyone (humankind) would be forgiven for Adam and Eve's mistake. God planned the murder of his son for a very long time. It was a premeditated, millenniums long murder plan. (Talk about holding a grudge.)

    We wear reminders of Christ's brutal death (a cross) as a sign of peace. How does a violent death signify love and peace? If gas chambers and guns had been around at the time of Christ, would we wear gas chambers and guns as jewelry if Jesus had died in the gas chamber or by a firing squad? And, instead of the sign of the cross would we point a finger out like a pistol and say "bang, bang" when we entered church in order to remember the death by gunfire?

    Why does God keep sending messengers who start new religions that fight with the old religions started by messengers sent by God? If God is omnipotent and omniscient, then why doesn't he/she tell us exactly what we need to do for salvation? God could create a book called "Heaven for Dummies" which would be a kind and gentle way to get us on the correct trajectory.

    Isn't God getting a little tired of all the miscommunications, brutality, violence, talking bushes, talking snakes, visions, killings, rapes, slavery, etc. in the name of God?

    So is Christianity about God impregnating an unmarried woman and then killing his only child from that liaison? Do you want to spend eternity with a child abuser, killer, homophobic, egotistical, megalomaniac? If not, then I invite you to question your beliefs.

      Perhaps you should read "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller. It explains the thoughts and feelings of many of today's Christians and will help you understand that we too ask these same questions, however, do not feel the need to be so judgmental and harsh to those who cannot grasp our ideology. You will be hard pressed to find a true Christian, one who loves Jesus deeply, one who wants others to feel accepted and loved, and who will then turn around and misrepresent all of Christianity as holier-than-thou, brow-beating bible thumpers.

Christ died on the cross to pay for the sins of those who will trust in that payment and recieve Christ as saviour and Lord.       The assumption that Atheists dislike Christianity more than other religions is childish. We hate all ridiculous superstitions equally. We used to hate the Roman gods and the Greek gods but they have faded into obscurity. Once your god has gone the way of the thousands that came before him you will understand.       This comment and the Newsweek article itself are WAY off base. I first met Justin 8 years ago and met him again a couple years ago. Killing in profits? More like barely has money to make ends meet because he gives it all away. Scares and intimidates kids? Well, why do they flock to see him every week and hug him when they see him around town? How come people don't react this negatively to rappers and hollywood elites who cram negative messages to our youths? Justin is raw, yes. But' he's real and his powerful presence makes kids wake up and think and realign themselves. He has teens who are atheist, agnostic, Jewish, Protestant, as well as Catholic who come to hear his message about living right, and doing good for others. Shame on Newsweek for tweaking this to make him seem anything but genuine, forthright, and living to "make Jesus cool" for teens in this nuthouse world. HBO's documentary airs tonight, and their website has a wonderful article praising his work. Also visit his website hanm.org if you want to read more positive press. Again, shame on Newsweek - you got it all wrong and then some.

Justin doesn't have a lot of money, and a lot of what he makes he gives right back to help even more youth. He's not in it for the money, but without a paycheck he wouldn't be able to support his family, it's not a crime to get paid for doing your job. This guy spends most of his time helping youth- he probably works well over your 40 hours a week and gets paid much less. For him the true reward seeing the many people come to Christ, but this being his job means he needs to be compensated with money so he can have food and a roof over his head. Your judging a person you don???t even know based on one article that isn???t even accurate.
