I think Justin does a good job of connecting with some of the youth and pointing them to Jesus. Jesus is the only thing that won't fail you. Once some of these kids understand that they have the same problems as others and that Christ is foregiveness, they will grow and then will create more disciples. Good Job Justin!
It's not religion. It's a relationship. I think most people don't know how to have an earthly relationship, so how can I have a relationship with God the father. It is easy, callout to Jesus then hang on for a ride. I think Justin is able to connect to some and spread the good news that Christ is the only thing that won't fail you. Anything in this world will fail you, except Christ our Lord and his relationship with you. Call out for Him!!
justin helped me when my son died and now i help him all the time,he has the purest heart out of any one i know and all you have to do is go to one of his events to see that
Thsi world would be better off if people mind thier damn busniess and stop preaching their beliefs and religions at other people who could care less. Let these children find thier own religion and beliefs damn
I have seen the film and have been present at numerous events led by this man. I must admit that this review is not only harsh, but also inaccurate. My experience of Hard as Nails and Justin Fatica has been positive, refreshing and uplifting. He is indeed a loving man with a huge heart for the youth and I have witnessed countless numbers of young people receive his message of love into their lives. His tactics are intense, yet not violent or aggressive toward the young people themselves as this review may lead one to believe. I do see his true heart come across in the film. I would suggest viewing the film first and making judgements later. It would even be better to witness his speaking events first hand and see how passionate this man is about building up youth and encouraging them to believe that they are amazing and able to overcome the pain, adversity, and negative influences in their lives. I view Fatica as a true blessing to the lives of the many youth that he has helped and a blessing to our youth culture which is in desperate need of men and women who will not be afraid to stand up for what is right - "love." He is indeed a man of love, and I would be happy to invite him or any of the Hard as Nails team to my church community to address the youth. They certainly have a gift for reaching the young ones. I have seen it prove true time and time again.
I totally agree! I have been to several of his events and have seen only a loving and caring man. It's a shame everyone judging him here doesn't even know who he's is or how he really preaches. This article was the complete opposite of who he is. He is accepting of all people and respects that everyone has their own religious beliefs. He is not intimidating at all-he's just excited about what he is doing and he tries to be creative so the youth will be interested.
ROFL
So now we have freaks like this intimidating kids into believing what he wants them to huh? It seems to me that "Christians" who were "scared" into becoming "Christians" aren't really true Christians at all. To be a true Christian means accepting Jesus Christ as your savior of your own free-will, not because some steroid addled drill-sergeant-wanna-be is screaming in your face. Christianity is not supposed to resemble Marine boot camp.
I have been to several of Justin's events and he doesn't scare people into believing-yeah he does get excited about Christ, but he doesn't force anyone to believe anything. Just because he loud and gets really excited about what he is talking about doesn't mean he is drilling it into their heads---the author of this article didn't even take the time to check out Justin's program so who is he to talk. their are two sides to every story and this article is clearly filled with the biases of someone who cares little about Christ and helping today's youth. The movie doesn't show the loving and caring side of Justin because thats not what people wan to see-it's too corny for today's world-everyone wants to see the intense stuff and people don't see who Justin really is. I have been to several of Justin's events and I've never been scared of him- He loves and accepts everyone for who they are0- you can call him a freak- but I think he is a true Christian.
If you sin, you better have the courage to bash Jesus' face in!"
While I haven't seen his show in person the following setence if actually uttered by this man is all the cause I need to avoid it. The Bible says that we are all sinners, and Christ died for us. What on earth does bashing Jesus face in have to do with it? How is that not advocating violence? I also agree with thrasher32. If you are coercered into accepting faith then you're not doing it because you want too, youre doing it cause some luny is upsetting you. Teens need support, not guilt . They have enough to deal with today without some angry, nasty, moron who sounds more intrested in belittling teens then spreading the good news of love and hope.
By saying "bash Jesus in the face" it's like his teenage wording of "nailing Jesus to the cross," which this wording is probably used by many Christians- but it doesn't catch the attention of teenagers. He's telling people that every time you sin it hurts Jesus and it is usually talked about by him when teaching about confession and praying to God and apologizing when we sin. He is teaching teens that Jesus died on the cross to save us from going to hell for our sins-many adults see his wording as harsh-if they don't like his way maybe they should step up to the plate and be there for their kids. He's not trying to scare people-Teens aren't interested in Sunday school, and if you try to teach them about Jesus in a more formal way they wont care and will get bored. Putting Christian terms into phrases that sound more interesting grabs there attention-and helps teens realize that this world needs to change. Justin gives teens support, he is willing to listen to anyone and help everyone no matter who you are or what religious beliefs you have. Thousands of teens have gotten support from Justin and his Ministries-how can you say he doesn't give them support-most of the times its the teens parents who aren't giving their kids support. I have been to several of his events and he cares so much about the youth that he's committed a large part of his life to helping people-most of the people he doesn't know and may never see again-but HE STILL CARES AND LOVES THEM. He doesn't belittle teens-he reminds people that they are amazing and that they are loved. Learning about God isn't fun and you have to be creative and energetic in the way you do-don't pick at everyone else???s flaws in they way they are doing things until you have a "perfect plan" to bring people to Christ and help the struggling youth of today.
Excellent point...I agree

what a joke. christ taught by example and reached people through acceptance and grace. why throw his oh so effective tactics out the window and opt for screaming and humiliation? if you take that approach why not just bribe them while you're at it?

I saw the documentary and have mixed emotions but it doesn't matter what we think. If you want to go and listen to this guy then go. If you don' t then ignore him. The bottom line is kids today need something to steer them in the right direction and if this guy Justin can help even 1 kid then it may be worth it. If some parents could reach their kids and do the right thing then you wouldn't need a guy like him but apparently some kids do. This world is f*cked up and a lot of teens go down the wrong path because they think it???s cool to be like everyone else. Those of you that are complaining don't have to listen and don't have to donate money to the cause.....Now as far as his motives or the way he does things, he does seem to care but let's not hop all over his johnson that quickly. This is a BUSINESS for him. He is making money off this. Don't sit here and tell me he gives everything away. You see his house on the documentary...it's massive and he's got like 3 cars. I have a real job and don???t have that. The guy reminds me of every wanna be I grew up with. Listening to gangster rap in a hooked up Honda and getting your fade on in an urban barber shop. Yes he talks like he is from New Jersey but he's not. He's from a rich ass family in Pennsylvania. You???re not from the hood!! And don't act all hard with your gangster gear and then cry in every scene....ok!....Let's just be realistic right now. If he is helping kids that's fine and people should back off but you should see things for what they are. If people out there believe in him then let him be because it's not just kids it's adults that are behind him. If you don't like him than make sure your kids stay away and worry about your own family. I do agree though that a change in the way kids are taught about god needs to change. I went to a Catholic school and it???s boring and not stimulating, maybe we need another way and maybe this is it and maybe it isn???t.

First of all, you are entirely off with your interpretation of what Justin does, and who he is. I am an 18 year old high school senior, and I just have to say I have seen Justin change lives. If you don???t know Justin you may think he has a ???swagger??? and looks like a ???white rapper???, but what you don???t realize is he was brought up in an affluent family. Yes, he wears a jersey and listens to hip-hop, but he is trying to send his message to our generation- a generation who responds to exactly that. And that girl you mention, isn???t crying because Justin is yelling at her, she is crying because she just had a life changing epiphany, one that saved her from continuing down the wrong path in life. He does not humiliate these teens, they only share as much as they need to and participate to their own comfort level. In fact, he makes them feel loved. And he is not doing this to ???make a living??? he has had a calling in life, and unlike the rest of us he will not stop until he has saved every hurting person in this world. You may think he is extreme, and you may think he is unethical, however, Justin loves people more than you or I could imagine. If you have ever met him he makes you feel special, and important and like there is a reason for you to live- a reason greater than you could fathom. He is the most likable person you could ever meet, I could stare him in the eyes and tell him I hated him and do you know what he would say back? He would tell me he loves me and thank me for being in this world. Justin has two beautiful children, and a wife he loves. He is a great man, probably the best any of us will ever encounter in this world. And he loves Jesus; he believes in God above all, that is something I know to be true. Nonetheless, you are sadly mistaken if you think he is not helping these kids. He is doing more for them than you or I, and I have seen the change he has made in people. At the assembly I attended he made each teen find someone they had ???beef??? with and go hug them and tell them that they were there for them; that little act in itself could save lives. Justin is going to make an impression on this world that is greater than you could imagine, maybe next time you write an article you will take the time out to get to know the person you are writing about or the kids he is helping. But I have never met a teen that has encountered Justin without him impacting their lives in some way. In the end all I have to say is, everyone who has ever achieved greatness met resistance. I just hope the world lets go of its ignorance, and allows Justin to spread his message of love, there are far too many kids who need to hear it.
This will blow up in his face, and turn young people off to religion!!!!
Comment: This will blow up in his face!
As a Christian woman I find this to be extremely disturbing. God gave everyone free will, no one should be shoving religion down people's throats. And giving kids this guilty and terrifying experience of Christ and of religion is sending what message to them about God? As for making religion "cool", the Bible says we are not of this world, and should not conform to it. I believe in tough love but not in contradictions. I hope this article is not painting an accurate representation of this man. I really do.
He's not shoving religion down throats. He's helping people realize that there's a way to choose right from wrong. Religion isn't part of it. Jesus does come into it by way of having troubled kids (and others) finally feel loved as Jesus preached. Do unto others. Love thy neighbor. Justin repeats this message. Intensely. Never shoves religion. Get informed - look on other websites about it - see HBO.com - the documentary maker David Holbrooke sets it right.
This is a prime example of judgements being made without the reporter doing the homework. To trash such an amazing person as Justin Fatica without looking deeper into his work is irresponsible at best. I have seen first hand how this man actually saves the lives of troubled youth who need direction and love. Young people are subjected to harsh, hurtful, terrible messages everyday but this is seldom criticized. Justin definately is not for everyone, however, he has a gift for reaching the unreachable. The world could use more like him.
This Newsweek article is WAY off base. I first met Justin 8 years ago and met him again a couple years ago. Killing in profits? More like barely has money to make ends meet because he gives it all away. Scares and intimidates kids? Well, why do they flock to see him every week and hug him when they see him around town? How come people don't react this negatively to rappers and hollywood elites who cram negative messages to our youths? Justin is raw, yes. But' he's real and his powerful presence makes kids wake up and think and realign themselves. He has teens who are atheist, agnostic, Jewish, Protestant, as well as Catholic who come to hear his message about living right, and doing good for others. Shame on Newsweek for tweaking this to make him seem anything but genuine, forthright, and living to "make Jesus cool" for teens in this nuthouse world. HBO's documentary airs tonight, and their website has a wonderful article praising his work. Also visit his website hanm.org if you want to read more positive press. Again, shame on Newsweek - you got it all wrong and then some.
man what are you guys talking about???
u guys are crazy....for real!
