History has shown that accomodating lingering Southern bigotry and ignorance has created a serious and chronic drag on America's progress, as a democratic republic and as a civil society.

The South was dragged into modernity. Civil rights legislation had to be imposed on the recalcitrant rebels.The so-called "Christian Schools" that are so popular in the former Confederacy largley came into being as a way to circumvent school integration laws. Schools like these do not teach critical thinking, they teach conformity, bigotry and acquiescence..

My concern would be the father who finds nothing wrong with it. Each day innocent people are killed throughout the world(some in this country thanks to the kids dad), what problem will he have "forgiving" a larger number of people in this world, or making "excuses" for them to our detriment.

My first impressions of Huckabee was that he???s okay, however the more he talks and the more I look into him I find him to be a bigot, a manipulative politician, a hypocrite. He claims to be a Christian and flaunts it like it???s a right of passage; yet he fails to follow the very precepts that Christ taught! Did Christ say mock others, or did he say fools mock? Huckabee says in essence if you don???t believe exactly the way he does you???re not a Christian. That???s as bigoted as the guy several comments down further that said ???Mormons kill people for money??? now there???s an intellectual giant that should be grateful he???s still allowed to vote without passing an I.Q. test.

Well don't you ever wonder why there's never been a single legislation to reduce roadkill? Why, that's just silly isn't it? Because animal death just a necessary part of the market isn't it? We have businesses with assembly lines in place that kill, gut and grind up animals on a daily basis, 24/7. We kill them so the grocery shelves will be stocked. We kill them so our children can have a better lotion. We kill them so our erections last longer and the spiders die a quicker death. We kill them just to keep the economy going. If we banned frivolous killing of animals our economy would halt that same day. We don't say we do it for kicks or curiosity - oh no, that would be morally wrong. Just look at how nice we are to our beloved pets, how we shower them with gifts made of pig ears and cow hide, feed them with nutritious bone meal from other animal carcass! The truth is much much worse. We're not even conscious of all the frivolous killing that goes on in the death mills. All the righteous rage in this board is abundant proof.
