    I believe that convicted serial killer Dennis Rader aka the BTK killer was also an Eagle Scout. David Huckabee is sick and probably dangerous, in my opinion.

    If this is the best story that Newsweek has against Mike Huckabee? I can not believe that Mike would be held responsable for some stupid decision a son made 10 years ago. I know for sure that all the other "presidental hopefuls" have alot more to explain about their personal conduct let alone their children. If this is the only thing Mike Huckabee has in his closet then he has my vote.

      It is newsworthy because it is alleging that Huckabee used his politcal power and influence to shield his son from the consequences of his actions. He also allegedly fired someone, affecting his career, income, and family's financial stability, for not helping him shield his son from the consequences of his actions. If these allegations are true, it calls into questions his integrity as a Christian leader and as a presidential candidate.

        The real question here is where does a child learn this type of sociopathic behavior? This goes far beyond putting a stray dog out of its misery. Huckabee's son ADMITTED hanging the dog by the neck, slitting its throat and stoning it for kicks. This type of behavior does not just emerge one day then disappear the next,,,this was an obviously very disturbed child who had witnessed much cruelty and abuse in his lifetime.
        Whether it was at the hands of his mother or father, it makes Huckabee, Sr. an unfit parent and very likely a disturbed individual himself.

    I've been reading elsewhere that there was more to the abuse of the dog than just hanging him (stoning and slittling of throat). Can you confirm this and if so, doesn't it blow the whole "putting a poor dog out of its misery" argument?

    Sorry but to me this is petty. Are you willing to ride the current issues with Michael Vick inorder to make a man and his son look back. I do not condone his son's actions but come on we all have done some very shameful things as 16 and 17 year olds.

      When I was 17 I kissed a boy my good friend really liked. Looking back, THAT was shameful. Torturing and murdering a dog goes far beyond "shameful," and using one's political position to cover up such a wrongdoing also goes far beyond "shameful." If Mike Huckabee is willing to abuse his power to cover up such a "petty" thing, then he is probably willing to cover up much bigger, Bush-level wrongdoings. Since I'd like our next president to have even just an ounce of integrity, I'll have to pass on Huckabee.

    No amount of success can compensate (or conceal ) failure in the home. Leave politics aside and envision that this situation was a neighbor on your street..would you not question what is going on in that house? I know MY son would not have made Eagle Scout even if he had been only associated with the event because I would have opposed it MYSELF. We see how little scrutiny that this event can bear. Governor Huckabee, there's a really nice phrase, that's very good to have people associate with you it's called "withdraw with dignity." Try praying over that one for, say, 15 minutes...if you even spare the Lord that much time anymore.

    This is yet another example of the ethically challeged nature of Mike Huichabee. From numerous ethics violations, to his denial of his extaordinary efforts to free serial rapist and murder Wayne Dumond who when released from Arkansas prison went on to rape and murder two more women. to his seamy and tawdry habit of accepting, excepting, and encouraging gifts in exchange forr his public service, to his lack of candoe in accepting payments from one of the worlds largest tobacco corporation.
    People have asked Huckabee if there was something in the water of Hope, Arkansas, refering to Bill Clinton. I do not believe it is the water, they share instead personal flaws and character shortcomings. They differ in that Clinton has faced his demons. Huckabee, a preacher, who should know better, can't even take the first steps towards forgiveness, namely admitting fault, taking responsibility and telling the truth,

    I don't understand what this has to do with Mike Huckabee running for president. Looks like what happened is open to dispute, anyway. This is akin to "what Barack Obama said in kindergarten" and smacks of somebody else's campaign trying to dig up dirt because of this man's rise in the polls. Newsweek should be more responsible than to print this sort of rot and stick to the issues.

      Huck's running as a moral, "Christian". I would think that while he is parading around telling everyone what a good God-fearing, homo-hating, rapist freeing, cross carrying man he is he would also be proud to say he raised a son who knows how to treat an ill dog with compassion (i.e., see to it that he gets veterinary care) and who certainly knows - in 2007 - that it is wrong to carry a LOADED GUN onto an airplane! Huck's moral high ground makes scrutiny of his dysfunctional family fairly in the spotlight. If he cannot govern his own home and manage to raise a sane child how can he be trusted to govern an entire country?

    His murder of a dog AND carrying a loaded gun onto a airplane certainly makes him sound like a psychopath and clearly the product of a messed up home life. Preacher Huckabee's firing of John Bailey is so typical of the Reich Wing's payback for not playing along with their corruption and immoral behavior.

    Doing harm to an emaciated poor dog is for me so inhuman, that not even a beast could do! I do not know if this story is true, and I therefore have no right to judge. I have been shocked to the dpeths of my being by another "beastly" story of animal torture - that regarding Vick. America! Do not tolerate this evil! This is what makes us be hated in the world! This is what degrades all human race and relegates us a thousand years back in history! We are not beasts: we have God's Image in us! I want all the Baptist ministers to respond to my post! I want Mr. Huckabee Sr. also to respond. Does he agree with what I have said, or not?

Huck is the same way, saying that the other candidates should commit suicide by using razor blades in a bathtub. He destroyed the state computer's hard drives. Took every gift he could find. Let go rapists and murders at the behest of other Evangelical pastors. Time to boot him off the stage, permanently!
