Ah HELLO Tommypie!!! As alleged by the procecutor, (not the other corrupt Republicans candidates), the governor not only commited a felony by interfering in a criminal investigation, (yes alice, misdemeanors can be criminal offence), he also wrongfully fired the prosecutor for doing his job. (That by the way is against many federal laws.) We already have a politician in there that only uses the Constitution and Laws of this country for his benefit, and discards the rest as being "novel".

And I understand a fathers love for his son, but is he doing him more good by protecting him, or would his son been better off getting help for his affliction?

The practice off digging up dirt, imaginery or true, on candidates doing well in the polls never ned. If Huckabee's son committed atrocities against a dog in 1998, what has that to do with Mr. Huckabee's candidacy? He did not kill the dog, did he? And it was never proven that his son did either. Lay off already! This is getting to be ridiculous. Maybe Mr. Huckabee killed a snake last week. PETA would be up in arms and call him every bad name under the sun. I abhor torture of innocent animals, but don't judge Mr. Huckabee according what his son did nor did not do.

This is SICKENING.. and the fact that Pastor HucktheHardrives leaned on the powers that be..

Show's he is EVIL.. and wants to use the power of the office.... FOR PERSONAL PROTECTIONS..

WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS WITH THE GWB ADMIN!!

Give me someone who is HONEST has INTEGRITY and makes GOOD JUDGEMENTS...

Now who does that sound like????

America needs a Doctor.... NOT A LAWYER... not a PREACHER WHO COVERS UP HIS BEHAVIOR

here here to angelj5054. Huckabee fans are wearing rose colored glasses because he's a baptist minister. If he were an atheist with the same allegations his campaign would be dead in the water.

So if Michael Vick tortures a dog he doesn't deserve to play in the NFL but if a potential president prohibits the authorities from taking action against his son who tortures a dog its ok? Personally I expect more from a president than a football player.

Its interesting to me that there are people on here who are simply like "its a misdemeanor" and "its just a dog." May I point out the HUGE public outcry when Michael Vick was involved in dogfiighting and how he no longer deserved to play in the NFL. Shouldn't we expect the same moral standards for our president? And even though he didn't kill the dog himself, do we really want someone who enabled the person who did?

WTF?!?! Where did all the religious reich-wingers go? I have a feeling they're all going to be in hide-and-seek mode. They all know they're toast this election cycle. That's why all their corporate kingpins are leaving office. AS I heard one of them say recently, "It's no fun being in the minority party. And I don't see it getting any better." Why is it you can only get truth out of one of these guys when they are leaving or left office?

Children live by example of their parents and if parents do nothave high morale and character it reflects early or later in their children, and here's an example.

Children are raised by parents and if parents don't have high morale and character it is likely their children would live by example, and here's one.

Other countries have their unusual customs. In the US, this is not one of them. A presidential candidate and family must still high morals and character. This man (David) looks troubled even in the picture. There is always 2 sides to every story and the dog defense seems credible. There is a paper trail with too many unanswered questions. Nope, Huckabee has to go (with his wayard son).

How can you compare killing a worm, who can only control selective rhythmic behaviors, or stealing a piece of candy to KILLING a dog? Someone needs to enlighten you with something called animal cruelty. I truly hope that you don't own any animals!

Pjacobsuk, How old were your children when they stole, lied, and killed? Were they 17 years old and employed as a leader at the time? No, odds are your kids were like 6 or something equally nominal, so don't give me this "kids will be kids" song and dance when a MAN (who can serve in the armed forces with the permisssion of his father), the same age I was when I moved out of my home to go to college, KILLS (not steals a piece of gum or tells the teacher her dog ate her homework) a dog (not a worm or a grasshopper and if you need a lecture on the difference - god help you) and gets away with it scot free. If your children killed dogs at 17, they would also be the sick deviants that Governor Huckabee so wonderfully raised to be "children of God" in this world. Looks like that strict conservative Christian background he brought his child up in really worked!

It's been long accepted that torturing or killing animals is a sign of some kind of psychological dysfunction. If Mike Huckabee were not a politician, if you had never heard of him, and this story broke, would you,as a reader, not wonder what kind of parents raised a person who could do something so violent? Shouldn't we be asking that question even though some of us already have an opinion o0f the parents in this case? The child is always a reflection of the parents, at least to some degree.

This honks me off. Maybe California property taxes are higher, but people want to LIVE THERE. I can't even sell a 1200 sq foot house with a double lot and central air, PLUS a house next door of 520 sq feet --BOTH for $65,000 in a county seat in Arkansas We are taxed on EVERYTHING--food, personal property, video rentals, state tax, county tax, city tax..Huck is horrid! We did not realize how he runs whichever way the wind blows, like sand. REALLY look at this guy..PLEASE.

This is a pretty desperate low blow from frightened politicians, who have big money and have had their records sealed from public eyes, to slander the love of a father for his son.

The raised-tax issue comes up as another petty attempt to slander this good man. Arkansas should have the highest property tax rates in the country, but is most likely the lowest. I will compare my prop tax bill with anyone in the country. I was paying 15X more for property tax in California.

These ridiculous attempts at smears are only proposed to keep public eyes off of other candidates upper management in corporations like Wall-mart, big Pharma, and oil a big secret.

What Mr. Huckabees son did was a misdemeanor. If the rest of the Candidates disclosed their misdemeanors (such as traffic tickets), you would most likely find conections to other illegal activities. These wealthy candidates would have had records expundged from public view.

Several of past presidents have had felonious relatives that were given a pass in their drug dealings etc.. If you notice there are none of the Presidential Candidates putting their names on the petty slander. hehe

The ethics of this Bible thumper come now into full focus. The gift registry as the Huckabees were leaving office points to how small town he is and sets a dangerous precedent for the Presidency. I wonder how many pictures, we will get to see of the family before the governor lost 100 pounds. The visuals, although unfair, are truly scary. Most Americans can empathize with being a little overweight, but this family is grossly fat and obese. Pair that with his Neanderthal views on a variety of issues dear to evanglicals, then you have a loser in a landslide.
