"Similarly, if the United States bolts from Iraq, no one will be left to prevent partition and mass mayhem."
    and
"China is protecting Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad against sanctions that would really bite."
Is China's support for countries with oil worse than U.S's invasion of countries with oil?

The wording of the article suggests that U.S would be better off if the rest of the world was poor. 'U.S couldn't give away a used car, let alone sell one....' (Why used) Maybe that is not what the writer wants to project but that is what several readers could conclude. This is the Internet. How about taking a little more care to being correct?

Mr. Joffe seems to finally gone off his rocker, apparently he pines for the time when the then German Reich was able to "field" 7 million soldiers with all the known consequences. Incredible statement from a "respected" German Journalist.

Stanford and Hoover say it all. Aren't you people waiting on your Professor Rice to return? Didn't your protege turn the world upside down in the last 7 years creating the very same boogeymen you portray us as facing? What's with you neo-con nut jobs? Telling the world a new story will be deeds not words, and that will begin with peace with Iran, ending the Iraq quagmire, rebuilding our economic might, Fair trade, rule of law, end of the Unitary Executive with a return to 3 equal powers of legislative, judicial and executive, clean hands use of the courts, etc. The corporate cabal that ran this Government will pass for a long time from the scene. The seething rage of the average american toward their own government exceeds those we are killing. None of us grew up with the messianic vision of Bush. We were and are a live and let live people, who suffered two stolen elections, and a loss of our democracy. Bush has run with a reign of terror so great he has frozen the Democrats in congress. His is now a dictatorship of bullying, berating, lying and theft by deception.
Don't sell me vision from Stanford. Take your Dr. Rice back.
