Maybe the CIA is handing congress the Neo-Con butt for some ass-kicking. Agenda's can be funny things. Who says the spookmeister isn't one smart 4-Star? If they Neo-Cons get all bogged down then the flatten Iran block on Cheneys list might be just out of reach. Do you wonder? I do mean this came like a bolt from the blue.

I, for one, am extremely glad the tapes were destroyed. I was disappointed that the silly sophomoric images from Abu Graib ever leaked out. Should heads have rolled internally - you bet, but in-house non-judicial punishment. I differ with the commentary here that our dirtiest of laundry must be aired for the world to see and used against us under the banner of TRUTH. Those CIA agents were doing what we all would be clamoring they were NOT doing after the next plane hits or truck-laden bomb explodes in downtown USA. So please stop the santimonious, academic bunk, fellow citizens of this great country. War is dirty business. You know as well as I that whatever the context and however by-the-book our interrogation techniques are captured on any tape, it would be effectively used as propaganda against our efforts and further slander the US and our soldiers - lead by our own elected officials!!! Is this your idea of support for the troops? Please save it. I have grown tired of this attitude of extending Geneva convention rights or those Constitutional rights we enjoy as American citizens to terrorists (yes, I am including suspects too - those we have seized in various combat and hot zones), who neither recognize nor respect those same rules of war. Perhaps your support of parading out and over-exposing any and all questionable tactics belies your true intent which is to stymie our efforts and see us ultimately fail ... ah but don't forget to take the 4th of July and Veteran's Days off so you can remember courageous efforts and sacrifice that you have not deemed important enough to make yourself.

God bless this country and our young men and women in harms way, fighting for all of us.

INSULT, GRUNTS, DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TOURTURE, THAT'S MIs DOINGS, PLAIN AND SIMPLE! WHAT HAPPEND TO "DO UNTO OTHERS, AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU"?? APPLIES IN BOTH RELIGIONS DON'T YA KNOW!

as an Eisenhower republican I am ashamed to say it but the gop no longer supports our brave men and women in the military.Waterboarding was and still is torture and the gop have now left it unprosicutable in my opinion.(what will they do call it torture when one of our own is waterboarded but it's only enhanced interrogation when we do it?Support our troops or support the use of our troops?thier is a differance.Mitch McConnel and the rest of the loyal bushies in congress should recieve a christmas present.Twelve days of waterboarding.I'm surprised they didn't have copies of these tapes made so they could masterbate to them at home and in thier offices.

Why does congress not get busy with other things important to the American people. It does not really matter to most Americans if we had to torture the enemy to get information to save Americans at home and abroad. The tapes were not made in this country and were not evidence of any crime so why waste our taxpayers dollars just to try and make our elected president look like a bad guy.

the tapes were evidence of a crime the crime being torture. This adminastration and the faux republicans in congress can say they support the troops all they want but they do not.Our brave men and women can look forward now to things such as waterboarding. It used to be a crime and we prosicuted a japanese for a war crime in 1947 because he waterboarded our soldiers. Now we can prosicute people who do this to our brave men and women by saying it's torture when they do it but it's just enhanced interrogation when we do.I am an Eisenhower republican and I make no claim to having anything to do with the gop anymore. It's a sad fact but republicans do not support our troops they just support using them.

Re: waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques. Why not call these things what they are. They are torture. The euphemism does not become your coverage.

The can probe all they want. They can make all the nosie they want. Nothing will come of the investagation, much the same as all yhr other investagations that have been going on these past seven years.

The Bush White House seems to be running the same type of secert police as Iraq or Iran any more. People taken in the middle of the night to Lord knows where, millions of Americans spied on in the name of the war on terror, people simply stripped of their rights and all the while the Government denies all of it, demand people stop asking about it and place as much spin on it as possible.

The sad part is this is the type of government we are fight in the Middle East over. Yet we continue to allow it to happen here. Congress makes a lot of noise for the cameras, yet has backed down over every investagation there has been. No one is really ever found guilty of anything major. Only some little guy involved gets some blame and all top figures get off. We no longer have an independent Congress, we have a Congress run by the President, a President who can and has caused people to be taken in the middle of the night, to who knows where and never charged with anything for years. We are becoming just like those very same countries we are fighting. The worst part is we are letting it happen.

    I'm curious.

What would make someone believe that the anonymous American and foreign citizens we have illegally abducted and indefinitely placed in secret prisons without charge or representation are terrorists?

I mean, by definition, we have no idea who they are, and they haven't even been charged with a crime so even if we knew who they were we couldn't know if they were guilty or not.

For all we know we're holding an innocent troop of girl scouts, political prisoners, rabbits, hawks, bits of plastic, pieces of wood, or whatever, in these dark holes.

That's why we used to have the rule of law, and consider prisoners innocent until proven guilty, and charge them with crimes, and then provide them counsel to defend themselves against those charges.

That's why The Constitution of the United States of America was written, and embraces the rule of law it does. So that the innocent could not simply be proclaimed guilty, and stripped of every human right in existence.

The G O P would really like this tape scandal to go away wouldn't they?? Just like they would like a lot of things to go away. ie: Bush's lies about weapons of mass destruction, Bush's lies about Iraq's threat to American security, The largest national debt in all of human history (complements of Bush and Co.) Mark Foley and Larry Craig's boy banging activities, Bush's dealings with Jack Abramhoff, Denying healthcare to children, backroom deals with Halliburton, Attempts by Bush to sell America's port operations to the Arabs,
All supported for 6 years by a friendly G O P Congress. Republicans are nothing but greedy, arrogent, warmongers, wrapped in a cloak of Christian purity!
