Comment: Main cause of the fall of consumer confidence and the high foreclosure rate is that most american companies hire Indians to do there technical work. For the last 10 years over a million east Indians have taken American Jobs....simple...math.

Comment: America has ALREADY voted for change! They were going show Bush in 2006! And we sure got CHANGE!

    Before Democrats controlled Congress:

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high.

    2) Regular unleaded gasoline was $2.19 a gallon.

    3) Unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

    1) Consumer confidence plummet.

    2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.00 a gallon.

    3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase).

    4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses).

    5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars; 1% of American homes are now in foreclosure.

    6) Oil was 63 dollars a barrel the day before the newest congress convened. It closed last Friday at 126 dollars a barrel. That is doubled for those with fuzzy math.

    7) Economic Growth for the 4th quarter of 2006 in GDP was 3.5 percent.

    8)1st Quarter 2008 0.6 percent.

Remember it's Congress that makes laws, not the President. The President has to work with what is handed to the Administration.

Comment: The 2006 election was a way to express disapproval for the way things were being handled in Iraq. The democrats said they would get us out of there. Two years later.....hey, the democrats are saying if we elect them, they'll get us out of Iraq! Sure, why not? It worked so well the first time, right?

Comment: For one, Bush inherited a republican congress. Also lets not forget what gas cost when Bush took office with that republican congress. It still kills me we have die hard Bush supporters out there, this guy is going to go down as the worst president ever. It is going to probably take a decade for the next president to fix all of his mistakes. But mission accomplished, gas has more than tripled since he has been in office, all of his rich buddies are laughing all the way to the bank.

Comment: What do you expect when the Liberal Democratic Congress joins the Neo-Con Republicans in Congress to export our manufacturing plants? Since Nixon and Kissinger opened up trade with China, the Liberals have been doing their best to initiate free trade, including the single worst policy: NAFTA (HR 3450 11/20/1993). We have only ourselves to blame for voting the liberals and neo-cons back to Congress.

NAFTA was written by a liberal Democrat from Illinois (Rostenkowski) and supported by DURBIN, PELOSI, DASCHLE, JOHN KERRY, TED KENNEDY, DODD, BIDEN, BAUCUS, BINGAMAN, HOYER, MCDERMOTT and NOT supported by the 59% MODERATE Democrats and 25% MODERATE Republicans. Outsourcing is not solely a Republican goal, but ALSO a Liberal Democrat goal.

Without a strong manufacturing base, we will NEVER have a strong economy again. We are now a country with 300 million consumers. And, if it weren't for agricultural products, we would have virtually NOTHING to export.

WAKE UP AMERICA!! IT IS TIME TO TAKE BACK THE COUNTRY FROM LIBERAL DEMOCRATS AND NEO-CON REPUBLICANS. THEY ARE DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY!!

Comment: Unfortunately George W. Bush is a moron and really quite shameless. He really is a dictator. It really makes you wonder about the morality of republicans who can stand such an incompetent dimwit.

Comment: Am I mistaken, or did this whole sordid affair begin with the collapse of the housing bubble that was brought on by lenders and managers of hedge funds who made questionable loans to underqualified borrowers on the premise that they could double their money by reselling those contracts at higher intrest rates? Look what greed got us . The prime is at 2.5% yet banks are still charging 10to 15% or more on home loans and credit cards?!!! No cap on fees and intrest anywhere from 15 to 35% or higher. Who pays, we do. Who looses, we do. Who gets off scott free? Those poltroons who played fast and loose with the American Dream.

Comment: after 8 years of stupididty (both from our politicians and from big business... and yes.. from us who allowed it).. its little wonder we are on a slippery slope to disaster.. there seems little chance that we can turn it around.. when we hit bottom things are going to have to be different.. and its NOT going to be easy... only by working together will we turn this around...

Comment: We are living in a total dictature, America wants Bush out of office, stop outsourcing, create back good jobs at home, stop giving billions in tax return to millionnaires, and what do we see, the bastard King staying for almost a year again!!!? are we so stupid that we are unable to take our own destiny in hand, which is the definition of democracy.

Comment: I know it looks bad, but the Bush Administration is "on top of this", as the puppet has declared. Remember, only one or two more tax cuts for the rich and we'll be turning the corner...

Comment: The Bush administration is not FOR America. It's becoming quite obvious.

Comment: But it's okay if the Pentagon uses our tax dollars to let France build an airplane for OUR military. I cannot believe Americans are not in the streets protesting this. This is a slap in the face to all Americans. Remember Freedom Fries? Now our taxes are going to support French workers while Americans are losing their home and jobs. Where is Bushy? Why aren't McCain, Clinton and Obama demanding an end to this. This is serious folks. What happened to all those folks who protested Dubai port ownership. PROTEST TO YOUR SENATOR YOUR CONGRESSMEN THIS IS OUR COUNTRY...NOT BUSH AND THE PENTAGONS

Comment: We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Why did we think we could build huge gas-guzzling cars without a day of reckoning?

Why did we think we could borrow, borrow, borrow until our national debt skyrocketed without the bills eventually coming due?

Why did we think we could allow lenders to make bad loans and mortgages with impunity and not get caught in a foreclosure nightmare?

Because as Americans, we have been guilty of hubris - arrogance in the face of the gods. Continually acting as if the bills will never come due, the oil will never run out, wanting more and more and borrowing to get it - we are reaping what we have sown.

Add to it a war based on greed, a foreign policy based on arrogance, and an instant-gratification society that insists on quick fixes and material goods, and here we are.

There is a solution, but it will depend on Americans working together, starting to save instead of spend, downsizing their homes and cars - and dinner plates, not a bad thing in the face of an obesity epidemic - and getting humble.

Americans, humble? It took a Great Depression for that to happen the last time - what will it take this time?

Comment: Don't sell your house now. There will be plenty of people from other countries who have lot's of euros who will buy it. Basically America has sold everything it can, military equipment, corporations, jobs to other countries, BLM Land, Coal, Harbors, Forests....everything has been sold...now even people don't matter here. The jobs have been given to foreigners. Don't you get it. Don't sell. Hold...it's a slow takeover and someone will want your property. Perhaps someone from Switzerland or India.

Comment: I was a contract employee for the USPS . My job ended in July 2007 and I have yet to find another. I don't qualify for unemployment so I don't show up on the record. The unemployment rate is a crock of BS because it only shows those registered not those who do not have or no longer have benefits.

Comment: This has ever been thus. It is truly never an accurate measure of how many people want and need jobs, but how many people are actively looking at any point in time.

Comment: I remember the 2001 recession when Bush and the Republicans blamed it all on Bill Clinton. Bush had just gotten into office and he was going to launch a new era of growth and prosperity. Who gets the blame this time?

Comment: My house is on the market now. I've already dropped the price from $260,000 to $225,000 and still not prospects. I'm wondering if I should just keep it for rental property.

Comment: But yet the federal reserve is lower interest rates to bail out the banks. Inflation is going to make a massive assault on our economy from high oil prices....and no interest rate control. They call it the perfect storm.
