We don't think that china will become a superpower in the world ,a superpower is not the GDP number 1 or number 2 in the world ,you should compare the normal people's life in china with other countries especially with western countries.bad health system and deepen imbalance between rural areas and urban areas.
equal rights and opptunities.a equal society.but all of it is far from a developed country.

but china still exists many problems , we don't think that we have a good life and a good society for development. the most we want to get "equal rights equal opptunities" . It's still very poor in rural areas .bad health systems for farmers , bad rural development policies. the deepen imbalance between ruaral and urban areas.
i'm sick and tired of people lamenting about jobs lost to outsourcing. In a capitalist economy no one has a "right" to a job. Companies throughout history have sourced stuff from places where they were cheaper. Why do you think Columbus set out to find India? My grandfather lost his job 50 years ago when the leather factory he was working in closed up and moved to a cheaper state. My other grandfather had to close his prime-location hardware shop when a big-chain outfit opened a block away. They moved on to other things, and didn't do too bad in their lives. They didn't sit on their haunches whining. What will bring America down is not the rise of China or India or whoever, but an inability to innovate and a culture of whining like Concerned US_Citizen. As a nation that professes to stand for prosperity for the underprivileged masses of the world, we should be proud that we are able to contribute to the empowerment of people from China, India, etc.
I'm envious of China. The United States is heading for poverty and totalitarianism, while China is heading toward wealth and freedom. I've not forgotten Mao Zedong, the butchery of the Cultural Revolution or Tieneman Square, but the central planning for economic growth in China has been brilliant, absolutely brilliant, the opposite of the dismal central planning of the Soviets. If they can get a handle on figuring greehouse emissions limitations into the mix, more power to them. Our government is providing NO planning, NO real leadership, and we're circling the bowl.
Tom95014, what you said really makes sense here. That???s actually what I was talking about. You wouldn???t blame China if you think in a broader sense. As for the unemployment problem caused by outsourcing it???s something US government should and can tackle.
Economy makes the world go around. What???s behind economy, in my understanding, is the very nature of human beings---greed, envy, and ego (to list some dark sides here) And therefore to stimulate a perfectly fair win-win situation is something impossible in my world.
It always appears to me that human rights is one of the biggest concerns for America and the Americans. If this is a real faith of American spirit, America should applause for our success story. We have a 1.3 billion population to look after. I???m sorry, but we really need to develop fast because we have to survive first. China is still crowded with poor people who suffer from hunger, pain, etc.
Don???t get me wrong. I am not begging out here. I just try to tell you that how eagerly we wanna develop and get rid of poverty.
Currently we Chinese people have nothing to offer but labor force and hard work. In the long run we???ll have more competitiveness as the economic growth has been building a base and the educational development has been transforming the cheap work force into pricey professional talents.
China has been seen as the "World Factory". Made-in-China products are in every corner of the globe. Why does China take up this role? I believe this is primarily because of two major factors: huge population and government policy. Is it a blessing or a curse? I don't have any answer. Hopefully you do, people in the States who buy and consume made-in-China products.
So why are made-in-China products distributed all over the world? It's best to ask Wal-Mart or other stores and shops...Why do they keep doing so, despite the constant complaints from consumers? Of course they make profits, more than ever before. And why do the consumers like to bring the repeat business to the shops? Well, I suppose the consumers in Western Countries are rational enough, aren???t they?
And therefore is it fair to put the blame on China and Chinese people???!!!!
We are the country exploited by capitalism, I???m afraid.
Take my Mum for example. She is a laid-off worker and currently she is working for a factory where made-in-China products are produced Her salary is merely 800RMB/month. But she has to work 8 hours a day and 6 days a week.
Before you blame us it's better to ask the question: where does the money mostly go whenever a made-in-China product is sold?

The Chinese new found wealth is largely due to US Corporations sending their porducts abroad to be manufactured. In return we get defective electrical products, contaminated pet food and toys outside the limits of safety. The problem with China's development is at the cost of American jobs and Standards.
US Corporate Taxes need an overhaul just like Congress and the White House. I'm tired of returning products made in China only to be told there are no other choices. Replacement only gets me more junk I can not use. Gasoline prices are too high to keep going back to stores so my familky is committed to not buying anything manufactured in China. We can do without it. This new wealth has enabled them to expand their military and weapons. The US is still depending on US taxpayers to pay the bill for Corporations.
Whose responsible? The Congress and the White House. We need some drastic changes in our government.
I'm going to be going to China this time for the first time, to see an event called celebration china, sort of a prelim to the olympics. I was surprised at how cheap the airline tickets and hotels are. I'm looking forward to the insights I will gleen regarding this emerging giant. Anyways, if you are planning to travel this year, I would check out TRIPEY.COM for some great deals on all travel arrangements.
