Monks are supposed to lead a sedentary way of live, and not getting involved in politics, that's why they got hurt!
The main problem of Burma is that they have no major economic resources especially oil and gas. If they had oil, the US will come sweeping in to topple the Military junta and install their deputy.
At this moment Burma is better off under the junta rather than a civilian government because like Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan, Auyang Syuu Kyi will not hesitate to get thelp from any eager foreign power to back her up and ultimately becomes their puppet , if not for oil for a simple reason of domination (... like Australia trying to dominate South East Asia) - this is REAL trouble for the Burmese people.
The Burmese people must realise by now that "democracy does not guarantee prosperity" and for that matter "democracy does not guarantee anything". Look at China now, still under Communism and yet the people are prospering and on the road to become a superpower.
Another example of the fallacy of democracy is South Africa - they have nobody to lead them, their elected leaders are hopeless.
I am sure that there are still good military leaders amongst the rank and file in the junta. Get the networking with them and just keep the heat on the present junta. Long live BURMA!
