Why Tigers Attack

I have been a zookeeper for over 2 years now and I have seen what animals (big cats) act; they act as big cats do in the wild. They are not pets they are not a 10-20 lb cat that you have at home, they are a 50 (bobcats)- 600(tigers, ect) lb animals that will act as animals. I don't know how many times my fellow keepers and I hear that someone wants one as a pet; you people need help. Zoos and or big cat rescues take in the so called pets people thought were so cute when they were the size of a small dog then don't know what to do with them when they grow up. That???s ok we will jest take their teeth and their claws and they wont hurt anyone...let me take your teeth and cut off your hands and see how you fill. I fill for the families of the men that were attack and the one that lost his life. I hope that you don???t blame the cat, for they are not to blame of the carelessness of the zoo and or people.

I HOLD THE VALUE OF HUMAN LIFE HIGHER THAN THAT OF AN ANIMAL WITH ONE EXCEPTION.....IF ANY HUMAN BEING TORMENTS OR HURTS AN ANIMAL JUST BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY ARE SUPERIOR THEN THAT CERTAIN HUMAN LIFE ISN'T WORTH ***!!!!!!!!!!!!

How interesting that we humans will lock up another human for killing humans for years before we finally inject/electrocute them for their crimes, but if a wild animal attacks, we kill it first, with NO regard for it's life....... They kill for food, we kill for fun, religion, ect so is who is the REAL superior species here.......AND Yes EW77, in many cases I do hold animal rights higher than mine, for what we do to them and each other in the name of our superiority is ATROCIOUS........ Perhaps we need to RETHINK about our role on this planet and learn to have MORE RESPECT FOR ALL LIFE, not just that of the two legged ANIMAL that obviously has ALOT to learn......

I find it interesting you call someone a hating piece of s*** Sounds hateful to me. Perhaps your disgust over someone making a statment rooting for a tiger over a human life would carry more weight if you were not so limited in your vocabulary. You sound like anger management might not be a bad option for you.

I never stated that tigers are superior to us. And of course killing one tiger won't upset the ecobalance of our planet. I was responding to ihsl calling it "worthless". It, like any form of life, is not worthless. And I think it's great that you can conclude and judge for all of us that ihsl is the one who is right in the end!

In response to ihsl. I don't completely agree with all of your comments, but I will say that in the end you are right. You are basically holding the value of human life higher than that of an animal. Mike1964 stated how magnificient and wonderful these creatures are. There is no doubt that this is true-- they are magnificient. However, just because humans don't have the same regal appearance and strength as tigers does by no means mean that tigers are somehow superior to us. Additionally, who is superior to who is an irrelevant point. The relevant point is we need to look out for each other. Animals are important to our ecosystem, but at the same time humans showing concern for the welfare of other humans over a tiger is more important. One tiger being shot does not mean that the whole balance of the earth's ecosystem will collapse. People need to have more compassion for each other instead of concentrating so much on the "issues" and who's a "lib" and whose a "conservative." In the end, these terms are bologna. We are beyond these silly classifications, we are all people. And we need to be looking out for each other instead of pointlessly attacking each other's opinions.

Maybe someone should look into the treatment of the animals by the San Francisco Zoo and the Denver Zoo. Tatiana came from there not too long ago and the Denver Zoo had had problems with other big cats. They are wild carnivorous animals, if they are hungry they will find something to eat.

The U.S. should be establishing tiger wildlife reserves where this nearly extinct species can live free as predators on natural deer populations. S. Africa is having success in this endeavor, contrary to all the critics who claimed it would not work. America should be at the forefront of this endeavor, rather than wasting millions on designing more pseudo-natural zoo enclosures. There are great tracks of land available for this in our country, if we would put forth the consservation efforts necessary to save this beautiful species..

I don't think the tiger would jump out of the cage. It must be someone who forgot to close or lock the door. The tiger doesn't know that it's humans she attacked. Humans are just like dogs or cats for the tiger. It's food. We can eat fish, chicken, the tiger can eat us. It's the natual. I just feel sorry for the 17 years old boy. It's unfortunate. At the same time, I feel sorry for the tiger too. It's like we never execute a mental retarded murderer, we should not kill the tiger who didn't understand that she shouldn't eat humans.

We have a wolf linivg with us she has been with us since she has been 2 months old. she is 5 years now. the 3 of us my wife, my self and Sasha are the pack she is very protective of my wife and I. she is far from stupid, she is very smart more so than some humans,I would trust her with my live. that tiger was probaly taunted by the stupid fools, Now thats my Opinion !!!

I agree with you on maybe zoo officials could have tranked the tiger, but neither of us were on the scene when those police officers chose to act. They probably didn't have another choice.
