The choice to have the surgery is really up to who can afford it. I don't promote radical cosmetic surgery. However, if some procedure is going to make a person feel a little better about himself or herself then go for it. I'm a Gen-Xer and male. I have considered surgery, but mine are for the things younger people get it for. Being made fun of as a kid for something that was just not like the other kids. Like a large nose, ears that stick out, weak jaw or for the girls the same things adding breast implants. However, I do wish we could all just be happy with how we look. My generation and Gen-Y are under increasing pressure from media to look perfect in every way. We are younger like the people in the ads and the celebrities so our issues with cosmetic surgery are a little different than the Greatest Generation.

This is yet another example of a generation that cannot accept the fact that they're time has come and gone. Boomers need to grasp the fact that their time on earth is just as limited as the generation before them. Getting old shouldn't be twisted into some sort of shame. Contrary to what some may think, no one is "Checking you out" . Your laugh lines are the least of your problems.

Well, In the case of us( the baby boomer's) , we didn't have the time to worry about the our looks in the mid to early 80's. Now that we have established our selves very well, financially and professionally, we have the time to, should I say, wrinkle out our persona and take a little more care of the "Numero Uno".
Besides, most of us are grandparents and want to look good when we walk the grandchild...

Why are men getting plastic surgery?? --- Because they want to look younger. Does this take a rocket-scientist to figure out? ... and it's also because alot of older men are becoming just as vain and self-absorbed as everyone else.

We are now in a world of beauty which is not limited to females. It is a welcome positive expression of everybody>>>

We are now in a world of beauty that is not limited to females. it is a positive expression of everybodys right to look his/her best in an informed manner, by using specialists. Elderly look on the face does not show the gains of age. So, why look old? Soul; which we are, is ageless. Thence, the younger we look the greater the expression of immortality attribute in us as souls.Happy that the horizon of looks is pushing forward.

Actually I had some work done recently from the folks at wrinklego.com I elected to have a minor lift and it came out wonderfully. I just wore 2 bandaids for a week and after that, most of my aging wrinkles were gone. They also offert non surgical lifts.

I had a little smooth job from the folks at wringlego.com The creme was especially useful in getting rid of lines on my forehead. I think it's okay for men to go through with this, especially in winter, to prepare for summer days.

It's just important to do your research and go with surgeons that are trusted like http://www.trustedsurgeons.com, which is a nice website which helps in your research.

There's nothing wrong with simple procedures to make yourself feel better. Obsessions are what we should be careful about.

If it makes you feel better about yourself, go for it. Provided you are not constantly finding things to tweak and obsess over, which could indicate a deeper psychological issue, I can't see anything wrong with doing something that does not hurt anyone else (although all surgery carries some risk to yourself), will make you feel better, and boost your self-esteem.

This is so ridiculous. Americans are obsessed with youth as if a face lift is going to keep you from dying when its your time to go.

Aging is a natural process and I find it disheartening that so many simply cannot accept the reality of it.

What a sad statement about our society. We are in a world of have and have not's, where the have's can indulge in male face lifts, while the poor can't even afford generic antibiotics. We as a nation have let narcissism become the norm. Our collective pop culture mind set has promoted pre adolescent sexualized children to the front page of newspapers, and permitted the idolization of drug addicts and cheaters in sports and entertainment.

    Where is our common sense?

I understand that cosmetic surgery is paid at least partially, if not completely by the recipient, but what of the loss of productivity and diversion of medical resources? Who foots the bill when some of these needless surgeries go sour?

I am normally as anti tax as a human being can possibly be, but I have one tax I would heartily endorse. A 25% vanity tax on cosmetic surgery, to be used by the States to absorb the cost of childhood vaccinations? Perhaps some dental treatments for the indigent, or eyeglasses for the elderly?

The poor shall not be served, and as a result they will do as they did in the past. Just as woman who change their bodies surgically are still considered of poor moral fiber, men who do the same shall also be judged, and their masculinity will also obviously be questioned. That is why these pathetic narcissists keep their secrets, and why they will be openly mocked.

I for one shall enjoy the mockery, because it is well deserved.
