Dear bloggers: keep in mind that opponets of future President Obama are desperate to disparage him at any means necessary. We can not see who are writting these blogs. But rest assured that neo-cons,and people whose interest are at risk if President Obama were to be in office are not as stupid as we may think. They misspell words and use ethnic phrase to paint a picture in our minds and try to inject negative perception. Politics is a dirty game...But we finally have a candidate, in President Obama, who seems to want to challenge and change the way these good'ol boys in Washington do their corrupt back door dealings, the media included. PEOPLE RULE....NOT CORPORATE GREED ...THINGS WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, GOD WILLING!!!!!!!

Barack Obama is a Catholic, not a Muslim. THis means he s Christian. Your comment makes u ignorant and Racist.
Barack Obama was a proffessor of the Constitution at Harvard. Tell me a better or smarter person to hold the position. there is none.

    philangelo42:

Have you been asleep for the past eight years? Bush is a buffoon. How could anyone do a worse job than him? Why does everyone get so scared every time someone intelligent tries to run for president? Please do your research before you make crazy statements about Obama being a Muslim. If you read his books he addresses ALL of these claims (there are even pictures). He went to elementary school in Indonesia for a couple years. The "public" schools there were muslim. He had to go there. He attends a United Christian church on the south side of Chicago and I have never seen Michelle in a Burka. He already HAS MET some of the leaders you claim will terrify him. His father is DEAD. He died in 1982 in a car accident. You ask people to vote wisely and think wisely, perhaps you should take your own advice. PLEASE DO NOT BE SWAYED BY PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WANT CHANGE FOR THIS COUNTRY. I encourage anyone who has doubts about Barack Obama to RESEARCH his record, read his books, look at what he has accomplished in his life and make your own decision.
Willie are you for real? Muslin is a type of cloth, it's oprah, not opera....oh hell. I'm not even going to bother...

I'm not even for Obama, but you guys are idiots. George W. Bush didn't even know the name of of other country's leaders until he was in office. Give me a break, no one knows how hard it is to be President, so don't rule one person out over the other just because you think you know. Idiot, Obama only saw his father one more time before he died and he has no contact with any of his family in Kenya. That's why he doesn't speak of them, get your facts straight.

  • Posted By: joeink @ 01/03/2008 2:10:00 PM

philangelo, this shows your true colors, regardless of the experience thati being touted by the HRC factions. obama's father is dead and name me any of his brothers. if george bush with all his "intelligence" was voted for by people like you, its of no suprise that you will come up with such strong apocalypsal scenario of an obama presidency.it about time that people like you learn to accept people like obama to be just like you or better.

I want to see fact checks on the other canidates. Why was Obama chosen? I believe it is because he has a great chance of winning! He will be a great president given the chance. As for the 1st comment, I don't believe any presidential nominee could be as dangerous and the President we have had for the last 8 years. Give me break. No credentials?????? Do your homework!! Muslim???? He is not. He is the most respected canidate in other foreign countries. They want to see change as bad as we Americans do. OBAMA GIVES US HOPE!!! Something this country needs very badly. Before you continue to slander Obama check the facts yourself. Your post shouldn't even be allowed.

nothing could be more disasterous than these past nightmarish fascist years of Bush and Co tearing the crap out of this nation and it's people.
hey, a novel thought!!!...maybe Obama WILL ACTUALLY LISTEN to his advisors!!!
we need to get rid of all insurance for our elected representatives UNTIL WE GET SOME for cryin out loud.

I don't care what Obama says. Unless the eventual winner will select him to be Secretary of Health and Welfare he will never have anything to do with a proposed health Insurance plan. He may win in Iowa but when the big States vote on Febr. 5th he will be swamped as so many other Iowa winners have in the past.

  • Posted By: rayneman @ 01/03/2008 12:21:30 PM

OK, lets see. What makes him any different than any other politician? They all use sound and written "bites" to expel their greatness and degrade their opponents both Democrat and Republican.

  • Posted By: demigawd @ 01/03/2008 12:21:00 PM

I think newsweek makes some good points, but I disagree with the last "fact check". The writer is confusing "guarantee" with "require". The Post got it exactly right - Obama's plan DOES guarantee health care for everybody. It doesn't REQUIRE it, but it guarantees it for anybody who wants it. The distinction makes it a better plan than Clinton's or Edward's, who require opting into the plan whether you need it or not. It's an unnecessary expense that forces the government to pay for hundreds of thousands of millionaires and their families. Obama's plan gets around this gaping problem and makes an affordable plan that covers everybody who is currently vulnerable.

The article makes it clear Sen. Obama has been less than honest in his ads. "Experts" don't include editorial writers, and Obama's selective editing of other quotes make it clear he hopes to "weasle word" his way into the White House. We deserve better...

America is a Democracy - Not a Monarchy.
    ------------------------------------
    Nepotism does not equal experience.

The spin machine whipped together a machine candidate for a the past several years.
But as the lights grow more intense it's the people who begin to decide. Not the Machine.
    - Barack Obama for President.
It's Time for America to Rise and Shine again.

i am so glad to see this article. I was worried that somehow he was gonna get by with this information. As someone who has worked in healthcare over twenty years....I knew the information provided was false. I also know how the public has little knowledge about the true cost of health care in this nation. It is completely out of control. Only when the public learns that we must be all part of the same pool of consumers is there hope of lowering costs. When there are no mandates...the young will not buy insurance for any reason...whether they can afford it or not. It is outrageous what the insurance companies are doing. Example....someone pays nearly a thousand dollars a month for insurance....and that family sees the doctor approximately four times a year? Some of the candidates would not even be elligible for insurance because of pre existing conditions. They only way this is going to work are with mandates and regulations to insure all Americans. Only than....can costs be lowered.

i am angry this has been widely discussed before. As someone who works in the health care field and has dealt with insurance on a daily basis ...i could tell you his facts where untrue. The average American has no idea the ins and outs insurance companies have added to the impossibility of resolving this complex problem without mandating coverage for everyone. Only the young and naive would believe just cause
"ya say it....makes it true". As a citizen of this country....I hope you as reporters help us all by digging out the truth about embellished claims. We need this information to make informed decisions that affect the welfare of all of us.

He should still cite his "experts".

  • Posted By: abadreview @ 01/03/2008 11:21:55 AM

Somebody should "fact-check" this article, sounds like anit-Obama propaganda through and through. Newsweek, go to hell, you are banned.

  • Posted By: dolarbil @ 01/03/2008 11:20:14 AM

I would rather be guaranteed the opportunity for insurance than required to have it. This is really splitting hairs in this article. "me thinks someone is trying to stoke a fire where ther is none"
