This is to Mickey!!! You spoke of the experience of the previous presidents and lack of experience of Obama!
You don't seem to think Obama can balance a budget or run a government nor handle issues seriously. DID YO STOP TO THINK, obviously NOT! Those experienced, rich presidents are RESPONSIBLE for this mess our supposed great country now experience. So YES, we do need Obama; this time heart, mind, senate exp., insight, capability, concern for ALL, and guts will start the process of turning this great country around.

Hey I like Obama too. But what is the media doing once again? It's announcing their preordained nominee. Like Hillary was a few weeks ago, like Rudy was, like they announced Mccain out in July, like they wrote off Huckabee months ago. Why don't you just REPORT the news and quit being campaign strategists? Just let us - the people - make our choices.

I have read some of the craziest racist remarks that I have ever heard.
In order to stop the rhetoric of archaic racism, I challenge the media to deny posting, printing, or selling of any reading material that boast racist comments. That way they would have to spend their own money to print and distribute garbage, instead of the rest of us having to pay for it. Bet there would'nt be much spreading of the negative, and obsolete word then.
Wow, wouldn't that change the world.

Wake up folks. No matter who gets elected as the president, unless our congress quits playing politics and starts working for the country, he or she will make no difference. The last four presidents we have elected can attest to that fact. Is their actually a candidate among the democrats or republicans that truely cares about Middle America? If there is one out there, that is who I will vote for. I don't see one yet.

The results of a primary or caucus in one state, simply by being earlier in time than those in other states, should not be allowed to determine the entire nominating process. This is a huge problem for the American political system. The participants in the Iowa caucuses do not speak for the rest of the country, and it is certainly not clear that they are representative of the members of their respective parties nationwide. The best solution would be to require all state nominating primaries or caucuses for president to be held on the same day. Iowa, by the way, has a history of picking "non-establishment" candidates who in one way or another turned out to be disasters (for example, Jimmy Carter and John Kerry).

Sounds like the words of a Clinton or Edwards supporter....lol....lol

  • Posted By: chaulkie @ 01/04/2008 9:52:06 AM

Anyone can say they are Christian, we all know politicians never lie when running for office!!!

    • Posted By: wh33 @ 01/04/2008 10:09:16 AM

why should it even matter what his religion is????...............or race for that matter

      • Posted By: river_k @ 01/04/2008 10:55:03 AM

Wh33- it should not. WE are not really following- we need a leader, be they man or woman. Christian or not. I am a Christian and my statement is based on the fact that the nation needs a leader for all of its people and not all of its people are Christian, but they are all AMERICANS.

It sure seems to matter that Romney is a "different religion". It matters a great deal to me if someone is a Muslim. The race card isn't important, but value systems (religion) is important. Patriotism is REALLY important and I don't think a muslim can be both a patriot and devout. I can't stand Hillary. Obama scares me. This could make me vote Republican.

    Hey OB1,
First: He was not "raised" in Indonesia, he was raised in Hawaii. He lived in Indonesia for only two years. Second: What difference does his middle name make?
Third: It's time for us to address actual issues instead of falsehoods, half-truths, and innuendos. We need to get behind this kind of cynicism that assumes that people are too stupid to look at the issues and ideas and make the best choice. This country was founded on a vigorous exchange of ideas, and nothing is more American than that. I'd rather support someone with a different middle name and American ideas than someone who looks good on paper but doesn't understand the core ideas that make our country great.

Wake up folks. No matter who gets elected president he or she had better be able to work with the Congress. This has proved to be almost impossible for the last four presidents in office and unless the congress quits playing politics and starts working for this country, nothing is going to change no matter, who we elect president.

  • Posted By: justme8344 @ 01/04/2008 10:52:08 AM

The very idea of Obama even getting this far is terrifying. When any man refuses to pledge his allegience to this great country has no right to live here, let alone run this nation. Wake up Americans! This has nothing to do with him being African American, it solely has to do with his political and moral beliefs. I'm sure our troops overseas must be devastated by the idea that Obama could be president and the people they are fighting for would allow this travesty by voting for him. Again, WAKE UP AMERICANS!

  • Posted By: kmadi @ 01/04/2008 10:51:39 AM

Any win for Obama is a loss for the country. The man is dangerous and any candidate from any party pales in comparison. Save this comment somewhere and read it again sometime in 2009 or 10 should he be elected. We had better stop him now, folks.

    kmadi

The Party Establishment (DEM and REP), along with most of the candidates, are so far out of touch with real Americans and the issues they face everyday as to be virtually useless.
When was the last time we had a President or a leading Presidential candidate that wasn't rich?

    • Posted By: racistamerica @ 01/04/2008 10:22:15 AM

Now, Obama is BROKE compared to the rest of the candidates.

      • Posted By: ssandpiper @ 01/04/2008 10:51:30 AM

and i suppose that people earning 250,000+ a year know what it is to go to bed cold and hungry

  • Posted By: khaki81 @ 01/04/2008 9:27:02 AM

I certainly don't think the Forefathers of America had in mind that a woman or a Black should EVER run this country. If Obama is so in love with Africa, he could always move there and try to "fix" those countries that are running amok.

    • Posted By: GoForItAll @ 01/04/2008 10:11:29 AM

Nobody cares for your idiot remarks.

      • Posted By: eedwards5 @ 01/04/2008 10:51:01 AM

Your comments against African Americans, and all women are the reason why this country is in the state that it in. Every man, women, and child no matter the color of their skin has the right to be President of the United States. It is people who think like you, that has turn this conutry up side down. You need to crawl back into your little world and stay there

Can conservatives take part in this discussion, or is it reserved for Democrats only?

    • Posted By: klove2 @ 01/04/2008 10:50:58 AM

Conservatives ALWAYS get their say and their vote. The past election proves it.

Barack was not raised as a Muslim, nor does anyone have to worry about being patriotic and muslim at the same time. I hope you all realize that there are thousands living in muslim states who think it is impossible for a Christian to be truly "patriotic."

Also, this country has already seen some sad days. I think it's a sad day when so many Americans are so far from reality as y'all, thinking that Obama is a "radical islamist." Barack is intelligent, principled and ready to bring our government back to what it was meant to be. Obama 08!

Iowa is full of pig farmers.....who in hell care about what they think? If this is the direction America is taking....we are in for one hell of an accident. This whole Iowa thing only goes to show how dum Americans are. Next time I sit down to my breakfast of bacon and eggs I'll, for a moment, thank Iowans. But raising pigs isn't brain surgery. And Iowans aren't who controls this country. When it comes to picking a leader.....well, frankly, pig farmers don't count any more than cotton pickers. But we keep slamming the car door on our heads. Try voting for someone who will benefit all of this country...not just the blacks. Obama is pretending not to use race in his campaign. Oprah Winfrey dealt that card for him. He is a sneaky guy. I hope this country has learned something from bush. (I can't even capitlaize his name because I hate him so much) As much as we hate her, Hillary Clinton has what it takes......experience. Iowa...don't take this wrong but no one on this continent would know if the whole state burned to the ground. If this country is ruled by what happens in Iowa, man we are in trouble.................................

    • Posted By: constructive @ 01/04/2008 10:50:07 AM

I want to comment on what = donlisbuild said. I think pig farmers have a right too. They are not the only people who voted Bush for the second time. I am sure you also did. Bush was neither black either and he made a mess. So why do you think it is impossible to see a black american win? I am not saying that Barack will. But what if he deserved to win?

  • Posted By: Jeffim Kuznetsov @ 01/03/2008 11:07:53 PM

Iowa is too small of a state to alone decide the future of this country. Let's wait for the states with most delegates to see who's up for the challenge. The media loves to create competition and erect popular icons, the media also loves to destroy and trash its creation.

    • Posted By: lugnut @ 01/04/2008 1:08:13 AM

There's a unigue difference here. I started to tell you. But i want.

I'll tell you this. There is no way Senator Barack Obama can lose, unless he makes a remarkable mistake.

I have never seen this before. He is the ideal candidate for this unique situation we are in now. Make no mistake about it.

      • Posted By: Take it day by day @ 01/04/2008 10:49:48 AM

I hope he does LOSE! He reminds me of Bush.

      • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/04/2008 7:26:54 AM

lugnut, what make Obama ideal for serving as the Commander and Chief during a time of war?

        • Posted By: GoForItAll @ 01/04/2008 9:54:30 AM

          What makes him not?

  • Posted By: lyonesj @ 01/04/2008 10:35:35 AM

The American voting process only ask for one thing, and that is to have an intelligent view of the issues at hand in this country. To vote or not vote on something as stupid as a name only is unintelligent. i'm ashamed to be reading such blogs on candidate Barack Obama.

    • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/04/2008 10:49:04 AM

Isn't it also unintellegent TO vote for someone based upon the color of their skin or sex and nothing else? How about to vote AGAINST someone based upon their religious beliefs?

  • Posted By: Tinas28 @ 01/04/2008 10:48:25 AM

All of a sudden they have a 114 year old sharecropper vote for Obama... here we go again with the color of your skin........who cares.........Obama did not salute our flag..that was enough for me not to vote for him..
Hillary is smart and I would hope she would win, it would like be having 2 presidents in the White House.
Obama can fool some of the people but not all of them. Oprah should stay out of politics .Everyone has their own opinion and should not be swayed by an actor or actress. May the best woman or man win this race. Lord knows we need some help for our Great Nation...............

  • Posted By: truthfullspkr @ 01/04/2008 10:48:13 AM

Like this story implies, Obama will bring out the worst in the bigoted rednecks of this country who are looking for him to misstep. Most hard working, honest, and sane people in this country aren't looking for more of the status quo, or experience for that matter. After all, its experience that has this country in the sad state that its currently in. Finally, a candidate that's for ALL of this country's people and I don't care what shade of skin he/she has...just the best candidate who has all of OUR interests and common goals in mind.
