Who Can Stop Obama?

There are two stories here. One, the large turnout of 19-29 year olds - they believed significant change is possible. Second, the failure of the vaunted Clinton machine.

The Message of Change is good and important. Their are too many players focused on only making as much money as possible. The current administration, if you recall, started out wiht a Chenny engergy planning meeting and wow did gas and natural gas prices go up. This was prior to Enron and 911.

I know that our system is all about profit, but the current environment seems very harsh and greed and fear rule the day. We all need to step back and evaluate what is more important to our country and all people in the country and world. I do believe this adminstration is so pro greed, especially in the engergy and defense industires, that they have not done right by the american people in general. I hope the next adminstration is truly committed to a more fair and balanced distribution of wealth.

Do you know what is truly pathetic, your inability to answer the questions I posed. Not once in your reply did I see answer any of the questions. These are serious times, we have serious problems, and we need serious people to deal with them. What we don't need is someone answering these questions with glib sound bites, someone who is a media creation of reporters like Tim Russert, the Today Show, and all of their ilk, who value what they perceive as a good story and ratings over fair and balanced reporting with good factual content. And if I can think of a slur like Hussein Obama, just think what the pros of the Republican "cut and slice" attack group will think up. Come on people, it's time to vote with your head, because like I said, these are serious times, we need serious people to deal with them, and it's time Senator Obama's 15 minutes of fame to come to an end.

Does anyone think we put way too much stock in diversity in this nation instead of trying to find common ground? Too much diversity in ideal and opinion has killed many a great civilization in the past because common ground could never be found. Obama will be a decent President. Only decent but what more can we wish for in todays environement?

I've never seen so many DEMS hate on a Democrat. I find this amazing. I'm an independent conservative, but I like to accept the truth. Obama is a Christian. If he were Muslim it would've been found out by now. He might have been born into it, but he doesnt follow it. His lack of experience? If I remember right Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George Bush were all low on experience when they were elected President. Its better to preach change rather speak about experience you claim you have like Hillary Clinton. She hasnt done nothing in her life that would give her experience to be a 7-11 manager let alone be president. To get on TV and say you are experienced because you traveled to all the continents except for the Antartica means nothing. If that is the standard we are going to use then I could run for President. Hillary is FALSE!!! I am glad that IOWA saw through her like plastic..

Since only four Iowa winners ever got their parties nomination and none won, don't see why everyone is so focused on Iowa. Results are significant but not an indicator of future results.

i know it has something highly to do with color but you have to take the time to look at weather or not he would be fit for this job.....he is not perfect nor like bush in anyway but hes the cloest thing to a worthy president that america has seen and heard in a long time. he shouldnt be frightened by anyone simply because he has no major competition at this time to me. its not based upon like or your a cool man its that people are seeing that he is right for the job he is about to hopefully get

what's frightening here is the absence of comments regarding the new leader of the free world. We Americans take our freedom and liberties so for granted...

I've been a lifelong Republican but not anymore. The Republican party used to be fiscally conservative, pro-liberty, and against big government. Over the past decade I have seen it hijacked by the religious fundamentalists and neocons, and they have destroyed everything it stood for. I am still not a democrat, but as of now, my voting preference for November is Obama, Edwards, McCain, Ron Paul. If none of them is on the ballot, I will not vote.

I don???t know much about Obama, because he hasn???t campaigned in my state yet. He sounds like a likeable guy, but at this point isn???t that the candidates main goal? To make the American people like them?

I too would like to get to the roots of the candidate before I vote for them.

And for all the Bush bashers; Is your life really all that bad? Is it worse than 8 years ago? I can remember back in 2000 when America went thru a downturn with .com busts and all that. I like many lost my job, but now years later, I have a job, I have my health. My country hasn???t been attacked again.

Bush wasn???t the one who made people purchase homes that were out of reach for them, thus sparking this mortgage crisis. Bush wasn???t the one who raised Oil prices, you can thank your Hummer driving neighbor for that one. Remember in ???99 when china had a market crash? We were paying .99 a gallon for gas here in the states. Now china is thriving (Mostly from us Americans buying so many foreign items). They would like to drive SUV???s and Trucks like we do. And now we wonder why Oil is getting scarce?

Just like we can???t blame the .com bust, or 9/11 on Clinton, we can???t blame the current administration for everything that is wrong with America. People we have to take responsibility for our own actions. I???m tired of watching people on the news all the time saying ???Where is our government in this????, and then if government is too involved people say ???Too much government!???

Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.

One Causus or a thousand polls ... This is all venting ... I recall Tom Dewey beat Harry Truman, it was in the morning newspapers even the day after the election. ... Iowa and Vermont will not decide the election ... we will know who the candidates will be after Super Tuesday .... and will will know who is the new president elect after election day. All the rest is just hot air.

Scooter W., I like the premise of your post. Nobody running has Presidential experience. Who running has EVER vetoed anything or commanded a military? The role of President is, in fact, supposed to be the only TRUE leadership role in our government. Everybody else, Congress and the Senate, are supposed to be representatives of their individual constituencies. What happened to the notion of representation? NOW, everyone is a LEADER. I don't want a LEADER in Congress or the Senate. I NEED a representative. Only cowards and idiots too scared or stupid to have real opinions or ideas need to be led all the time. Only the weak need government to take care of them and hold their little hands all the time.

it is a major thing that he has iowa, it shows that no matter what color he is, he is going to do the job right if he is elected president and as a african american we see flaws just like any white person, hes not perfect in anyway , but he is as close as perfect gets,
