The garbage posted by Critenour characterizes precisely the kind of America I do not want. This person is a liar and a bigot. A man's middle name does not make him anything. My middle name is Jewish and I am not Jewish. I have been in moslem mosques and I have moslem friends. This does not make me a MUslim. Obama is half African American and so what.
WE want Blacks to entertain us, to play ball for us, to fight and die for us. I am willing that they should rule when a good time comes along for it. I have an uncle who is an attheist and so what. We should not even know who believes what. I am interested in the man's ideas, his character and I pray to God that he doesn't get swift boated by ignorant loathsome people.
We want Blacks to entertain us

Barack Obama is as American as you can get. He has survived the odds. I wish his mother and grandparents were there to savor his victory. They did a good job and so can he!

Faced with such overwhelming evidence of a country on the wrong path, Americans should be careful not to underestimate the resolve of their countrymen to alter that course. The citizens have grown weary of the fearmongerers, the double-talkers, and the saber rattlers. Obama will unite these states of America, and will inspire us with the hope, the purpose, and the can-do attitude that made this country great.

Has Obama's policy been to be a 'fearmongerers, double-talkers, and the saber rattlers'?

iOWA IS CERTAINLY NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF MOST OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. EXPECT ALOT MORE SURPRISES BUT NEITHER OBAMA OR HUCKABEE WILL BE THE NOMINEES,

    • Posted By: Stormie @ 01/04/2008 8:18:23 AM

I agree..lets wait for Feb 5th, when the real primaries happen!

I hope and pray that you are right.

When Americans see Obama they see him first as black man, not white. The fact that he is African American speaking about hope and change is refreshing for all. Obama is applying for the most powerful position in the world. Where the American people will have opportunity to interview and check references. It is up to American citizens to decide if they are going to hire on the base of color or integrity. The truth is that African American constantly has to fit safe profile to make whites feel superior or comfortable. Why Obama can???t be who is a decent American who wants change.

Obahma is NOT AFRICAN AMERICAN HE IS MALAtO have you not seen his caucasian mother. Caucasians are seen as racist well this board is showing African American's are just as racist if not more so and are only seeing what they want. What is important is that Obama is Democrat.

The fact that you would even use the term "mulatto"--which you spelled incorrectly--shows more about your racial ideology than anything else you might say. What 'harambee' was pointing out is that when people LOOK at Obama they see an African-American (Black) man, not his white mother and certainly not his political views. Unless you're wearing a button, when people LOOK at YOU they don't see your political party.

        • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/04/2008 8:44:29 AM

And thanks to Obama removing his flag pin and hand from his heart, we can't even see an American when we look at him...

It amazes me how gullable we have become. Obama is a motivational speaker who does not deal in reality.
Hillary has a hard time because she deals only in real time. It is sad that we will risk our country once again over a fantasy. Why doesn't the press point out more FACTS about Obama and being a Muslim. I have heard him deny it on interviews but has anyone dug around in his past like they do Hillarys?

  • Posted By: mal413 @ 01/04/2008 8:42:42 AM

Are you kidding me??!! Why doesn't America know this??

  • Posted By: picman1 @ 01/04/2008 8:40:45 AM

I don't get it. Why is one caucus so monumental? Why is Obama suddenly the Democratic nominee because of one caucus? Frankly, if Iowa propels Obama to the nomination it is a victory for the Republicans because Obama came out of no where and isn't likely going to win the presidency. Its similar to this year's world series. Colorado, the underdog came out of no where but when they battled the American League in the WS there was no hope. I see the same thing here. I think America should wake up and vote for the best Democratic candidate not the one making a late spalsh.

I doubt very seriously that Edwards talked about backing Obama. I think this is spin.

  • Posted By: dpkastl @ 01/04/2008 7:15:56 AM

Well if the do nothing Obama ends up as the Democratic choice, that will probably do them in for the Presidential race

    • Posted By: topgun1 @ 01/04/2008 8:40:05 AM

Agreed. If Obama becomes the democratic candidate, he has no shot at winning the presidential election. The last thing this country needs is another republican in office after what Bush has done.

I think Obama is the better candidate, but Clinton has the only real chance to beat a republican.

The two most qualified candidates, Chris Dodd and Joe Biden, dropped out of the dem race. That's what you get when you can't raise money. That's the real story. The guys with the most experience, integrity and gumption no longer have a shot.

PEOPLE MUST NOT FORGET THAT DEAN THING LAST ELECTION. REMEMBER THAT WE DECIDE WHO WILL BE THE NOMINEE AND NOT THE PRESS. HOPEFULLY PEOPLE IN THE OTHER 49 STATES WILL LISTEN TO THE ISSUERS AND NOT SOME CELEBERTY TALKING WE NEED A PERSON WHO CAN DEFEAT THE REPUBLICANS AND AS MUCH AS I LIKE HIM OBAMA IS NOT THAT PERSON. GOD HELP US IF WE END UP WITH ANOTHER REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS.

    • Posted By: Mrs. Jones @ 01/04/2008 8:35:39 AM

While I agree that the press does not decide who the nominee will be--they've been stuck on Clinton and following Guiliani like he had a serious chance--I do believe Obama (or Edwards) can defeat any of the Republican nominees. They have no one this time around that can convince the majority of people to vote their way.

Give me a break, Americas WORST nightmare is someone like you. An educated black man is just a nother succesful American who has the right to run for a office that is, unfortunately no longer an institute of hope and change, open to anyone willing to take the chance and has the money to do it.

    People,
Let's step back and be realistic here. The last time America elected somone they liked, could drink a beer with and felt was a gift from God, we got the Bush adminisration and the disaster that we have suffered ever since. Being inspired is a wonderful thing, but we are preparing to elect the President of the United States here, a very serious and sober position in the world. Obama talks about change but his entire modus operandi for his political life has been to work within the status quo to create compromise,....hardly CHANGE. What exactly will he do to be different than he has always been? Vote "present"? Put aside emotionsand examine issues soberly and with conscience, and you will find Obama lacking Ask for details about his positions, not just lofty words and eloquent speeches. I am a black woman in America and Oprah and Obama and especially Iowa do not represent me and my interests.
I wil always vote for Hillary because I believe in her and I know she will be the best President this country has ever seen.

I support Obama... but am not sure why you seem so certain that he will win in NH. Is it because of the high percentage of supposed 'independent' voters? I was under the impression that thanks to Bill, Hillary has a strong chance in NH.

  • Posted By: sixhandicap @ 01/04/2008 8:25:32 AM

racistamerica - No, this country's biggest nightmare is prisoners with internet access

  • Posted By: jhaddix @ 01/04/2008 8:24:28 AM

My gosh... who the heck usually comments on your columns?

I think you are spot on with your analysis. I support Obama, but wonder at your confidence that NH will fall to Obama. Hope you're right... but why? because of the large number of professed independents there?

  • Posted By: sixhandicap @ 01/04/2008 8:23:28 AM

cbmtrx - I wondered how long it would take for those of you from Media Matters and MoveOn.org to spew their hatred of this country on this message board. Didn't take long.
