Oprah is behind him and I can't stand her after she did that Power ARM throw at the awards show. It was WHITE WOMAN who put her up there and she had no need in doing that. She is RACIST as well. Don't think for one minute them BLACK Celebreties are not. They are BLACK AMERICANS, not AFRICAN AMERICANS. Their OLD blood might be from there, but they are not.
I agree with your comment, Oprah is racist; she dumps a ton of money into a all black Aferican school in a country were she had not come from. She does nothing to help poor white kids in this country, and really does she even help the black kids here in the United States? I think Racism and Prejudice runs thick in Oprah, after all she went all out for Barrack and never for any other candidate, ever.
that's not true...she supported the Clinton's back in 92...what happened???
Oprah has nothing to do with nothing. If she is behind Obama, GREAT! Obviously, so is WHITE AMERICA! If he wins the Presidency, GREAT! If he doesn't, at least he had the guts to stand up there and try to do something for AMERICA, no matter the color. We all need to get out of the RACE game. It's old, tired and gets us nowhere! White people are not running things anymore! Black people need to stop blaming and everyone one else needs to get with the program, LEGALLY!

Very well said Johnny1967, In addition, I think Obama has demonstrated his ability to change "system" quite well as a senator. He definately demonstrates that he has the knowledge, capability and political strategy to facilitate change on a large and dynamic scale. In my opinion, this will be extremely necessary to deal with the current issues washington will be faced with after the departure of our current presidential party.
On of Edwards problem is that most people sense that his focused attack on big greedy corporations is unsound. In comparison, Obama is ingenious to focuses the culprit of our problems not on big greedy corporations, but on the broken economic and political system.
When Edwards attacks big companies as the culprit of people losing jobs, he is taking his eye off of the ball! The fact is, the fundamental reason people are losing jobs is due to domestic and international competition. Ironically, to protect jobs, Edwards will have to protect the big greedy corporation from outside competition. Nothing will please a big company more than Edwards protecting it from competition.
Most Americans can swallow the idea of losing a job due to fair competition. However, its losing jobs due to unfair competition that gets people mad. Obama cannot go wrong by attacking the system as whole rather than attacking specific players within the system.
Thus, Obama trumps Edwards by focusing on fixing the system we live in rather than focusing on attacking big greedy corporations. Obamas position allows him to argue to help create a society where everyone has a fair chance. Edwards position leads him to fight to protect some people from losing their jobs, which in itself is unfair to unprotected people.
What sets Obama apart from the other candidates is that his arguments (issue by issue) are logically flawless. Thus, its very difficult to intelectually attack his arguments. Both Hillary and Edwards have not been as careful in crafting their arguments.
You are kidding us right? The difference was 200 delegates so a swing of 100. Iowa has over 1,5 million voters in 2004 and we say a huge surge of oh wow.. 200,000? Hillary is not actually in a better position to win and if she loses more of the Dem states I would expect a 3rd party candidate. Even in Iowa there are more I's and undeclared (700,000) then D's (570,000). What we are seeing is the anti-war vote not a vote for President.
Robin: I am 110% behind Obama. I am from Iowa. I hope each state has their say and day. I urge each of you to listen to each candidate and weigh each one out. Don't listen to the hype. Do your research find the answers. Obama scares the people who are attacking him. That is why they attack him. If you don't believe in him and have nothing to fear, then why the attacks. back him. To each candidate we should be taking our hats off to. They are courageous men and women to want to fix the world for all of us. It is so easy to believe the negative. Look inside and find the child in you when you could believe there was a better world out there. Don't let the media or politicians tell us what is what. This is our country and we must take care of it. It all starts with the big guy above and then the president. Be kind to one another and find the good in things.
Robinc55, I agree with you totally. I think we are at a time that everyone can finally stand side by side, shake hands and realize that we ALL are in America and these situations together! Understanding, hope, peace need to be the new mediums we use to bring things together. I think Obama will be the first symbol of true democracy and the event that makes all of us stop and question our morals, ethics and true purpose. Its time for a great change. Sometimes war is inevitible but at least it should be for all the right reasons. I feel that Barak would be an excellent leader for this country for all aspects; reasoning, negotiating, peace, war, honesty, economy... We know how to come together in the worst of times; why not come together for the best of times and all the time? Its time to make a change!
It's not I's and undeclared in Iowa, it's NP - no party. A lot of them are now registered Damocrats. 200,000 is a better percentage of eligible voters than what will turn out in primaries in larger states, you can bet on that.
I care about the future of ALL americans, and it is disgusting to know that some people care more about race than actually understanding or embracing the issues that a candidate stands for.

"WHITE AMERICA WILL NEVER ALLOW A BLACK MAN TO BE PRESIDENT. I FEAR THAT THE ASSASINS ARE OUT THERE!"
This is yet another example of why Barack Obama's message of CHANGE is exactly what this country needs. While most people concern themselves with the media sensationlizing the threat of terrorism against us, we turn a blind-eye towards those who do far more harm to us by advocating division via bigotry, institutional racism, and class. Why is that?
I think that maybe Obama's ideas of CHANGE can provide momentum towards addressing the issues of...
EDUCATION - ALL kids need better equipped schools, facilities, teachers who care, and better support and learning programs that challenge them to be better.
HEALTHCARE - ALL need it, but some make too little money to actually afford it, therefore, solutions are needed so that ALL americans can get the proper medical attention and treatments that can help better their lives.
EMPLOYMENT - There can NEVER be more than enough jobs, training programs, and services to put people to work, this along with getting rid of the government's WELFARE system are issues that need to be addressed.
CRIME - While some cities (e.g. Chicago, New York) have experienced a decrease in overall crime, the crime rates elsewhere are increasing. A new approach to how we address crime is needed so that ALL americans can feel safer, be better protected, and are less fearful.
IMMIGRATION laws - Sorry, but MINUTEMEN guarding the borders is not the solution.
GUN laws, tax system, environmental issues, and the list goes on.
The issues stated above are what should matter to ALL as they are about equality, opportunity, a better people, and a better country.
That can only be achieved by...CHANGE.
I absolutely agree with you here. There is one thing the american public is missing here; throughout the entire existance of the red, white and blue banner, this is probably the most democratic action taken by the american people since the first settlers. I believe this sends a strong message across the world that amerca can truly support a democracy. How can we "preach" democracy if we don't support it ourselves? It is TIME to set aside difference of color and look at the potential. It is TIME to wake up and realize that many nations have problem with "democracy" because the people that teach it do not follow it. At least this "change" may finally get the global attention this country needs to let the world know that democracy can see beyond color, limitation and all of the historical nonesense and be a TRUE democratic country.
I got news for you folks: The presidential candidates will be Guiliani/McCain and Clinton/Edwards. The Republicans will once again win the White House and America will expand manifest destiny in the middle east to help bring about its New World Order. I know how things run in this country. Anybody want to place bets?
I pray you are right, that Obama doesnt make any huge blunders and he does get the nomination.
Obama/Edwards 08!
I am so proud of this country! To see that one of the largest milestones have been met. To consider that it is highly possible for america to come together and put aside difference and consider Obama for president tells me that we are truly a democratic nation. I believe we are sending a message around the world that we truly do know what democracy is and when necessary, fear not to demonstrate those values for the rest of the world.
what? did Cleetus leave? i wasn't even done with my tirade! jeez!
psyberdawg, that was beautiful.
variable1 worships the Devil.
Hey, I'm merely pointing out a fact for everyone to consider. Please post anything that disproves that variable1 sacrifices Christian babies to Ba'al.
Good point NavyVeto. I'm not sure why I just wasted so many electrons posting this. Or why I even bothered to read as many of these posts as I have, except that it sort of facinates me that such people as Variable1 exist.
Agreed - I have a morbid fascination with these types of people too.
Why would Edwards drop out? What happens if Edwards is second, which is what it looks like is shaping up, and Hillary is last. Does she do the right thing and drop out leaving us Obama and Edwards to fight it out?
Edwards is likely to drop out because: (a) he's under-funded, (b) his best hance for a win was in Iowa, and he didn't get it, (c) he has a snowball's chance in New Hampshire and South Carolina, and as afore-mentioned he's about to run out of money.
Possible VP candidate again?
The only reason John Edwards may run out of money is that he did not take special interest money like Clinton and Obama. I think Americans should realize that the only candidate not beholdin to anyone but us is Edwards. It is a shame that we will once again have sub-standard repsentation from the White House.
Facts do not support your position that Obama takes special interest money. Both Obama and Edwards have announced that they both do not take money from special interests. The incredible thing about Obama is that he raised an astonishing $20 million from people donating less than $200 (according to the Federal Election Commission). This is truly astonishing. In comparison, both Clinton and Edwards raised about $9 million each from people donating less than $200. This reflects the fact that Obama is backed by the average person, and not large corporations.
I think an Obama-Edwards ticket is a very good idea. Far better chance of winning than an Obama-Clinton (or Clinton-Obama). And I agree with maccamack-- at least select someone who is intelligent....
I doubt Clinton would settle for Vice President but then again at least Obama would have it easy for he does not know jack. lol
Give it up! Clintons "experience" campaign is obviously not going to fly. Have you noticed how her speeches have already changed? They now have a very familiar message to them, quite similar to Obama (talking about saying what you think the people want to hear). And we have seen what experience gets us for the last 7 years! I vote for real change verses more corrupt politics, I VOTE FOR OBAMA!!!
Obama will not be in the white house. You need to pay close attention to the primaries. It will not happen.
The only candidate that could steal my vote for Obama would be Ron Paul. As they say, "Google Ron Paul"...
I don't care who is your next President - from this side of the water Clinton, Obama, Romney, Edwards all seem ok. Pick someone smart, pick someone who understands the world, pick someone who is not too compromised by his/her donors, pick someone who has some principles. Experience counts for little - look at Bush - internationally viewed as an utter moron - what was his experience worth?
This is just the first run why should anyone drop out? especially if the Republicans were really able to vote in the Democratic part of the caucus. Kind of unfair and definately a good way to mess up the competition. Kind of like letting the Vikings players play with the Packers for part of the game is it going to be fair or honest?
thanks tj - i don't know why i'm bothering, either. i don't claim to know everything, but damn, at least i'm willing to do some research to make sure i'm not spewing forth such rubbish. why would anyone WANT to make themselves look so foolish is beyond me.
incidentally, the darn font on here is screwing up my screen name - it's supposed to be Navy Vet 08 (like 2008)
Also, i am interested to see where it says that his school was even Wahabist. It could just be something i've missed in my readings, but i'd love to know where this information was gleaned from so that i may read it myself. Did this school claim to be Wahabist or did someone else describe it as such?
Hey NavyVet08, do you think that obama attended a Wahabi school in Jakarta? Now be careful how you answer because I am from Jakarta.
i couldn't care less WHERE you are from and i don't think it's relevant. though since you mentioned it, do you know the population of that city? do you think i, or anyone else, might actually believe that just because you are allegedly from there, you know where Barack Obama went to school 35 years ago?
Another point of fact: Wahabists are utterly intolerant of everyone who is not as strict in their following of Islam as they are. This obviously includes non-Muslims. Do a bit of reading on this (Wikipedia has a modest entry, but there are numerous other sources readily available online) and you will find that DEATH is commonly the punishment for "heretics" and converts. i can't imagine that if he HAD been a Wahabist at the ripe age of 6, that he'd have been very quick to convert to Christianity.
(continued from my disproving comment below) Obama attended a Muslim school as a boy (born in 61, lived in Jakarta from 67-71). now do you honestly think that his parents (mom and step-father) actually asked his opinion about what school he'd attend? i think not. you may want to keep that in mind before insinuating that someone knowingly went to a radical / militant school of their own decision and volition.
Based upon obama's "red flag" past, I am scared of what his idea of "change" really is? Example: Would you let a babysitter who is a registered sex offender watch your child. Of course you wouldn't. You would take every precaution to protect your child from anybody with a suspicious past. You dems are too trusting when it comes to supporting a candidate that you truly don't know anything about their personal past. It took a republican to present obama's checkered and concerning history. Are you dems really going to support a candidate that has an extreme, radical muslim reputation and refuses to respect what represents the nucleus (Stars and Stripes) of what our country stands for. If the answer is yes, then you dems are more confused than I thought you all were. May the best PATRIOT win!
Did you know anything about Bush's checkered past, or that he was a liar? No! So, stop the dialogue.! Of course, no one would hire a sex offender as a babysitter. neither should fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
Exactly what lie did Bush tell. The same one that Clinton, Kennedy, Edwards, Kerry, and a host of Dems told about Saddam? Maybe you should check the lies Hillary Clinton has told about her involvement with inside trading just to name one instance.
