Ok, calm down everyone. Pat Robertson won the Iowa Caucuses in 1988. Does anyone remember "President Robertson"?

If Obama represents the Dem. then I will vote for the Rep., the only way I will vote for the Dem. is
    when Clinton represents them.

While I am happy that Obama won, I would urge caution in anointing him the nominee after this one caucus. Looking at the numbers, it was the under-30 vote that put him over the top. While he was able to mobilize them in this sort of petrie dish of an electoral process, I have long thoughts about whether this notoriously apathetic group can be counted on long-term, and in other states. So, it may be a longer process than simply having Mr. Alter crown him after one night.

The media has put too much importance on Iowa. I am happy for Obama but hope that those of us from states with upcoming primaries keep and open mind and not let what happened in Iowa sway our decision. While I like Obama and his message, I am not entirely convinced that he can win the general election. Let's hope we make the right choice in '08.

While I am happy about the Obama victory, I would urge caution in anointing him as the nominee. If you look at the numbers, his margin was made up mainly of voters under age 30, who are notorious non-voters. If he can actually keep them interested and voting, then he'll steamroll the field, but I'll believe that when I see it.

John "Smart" you say Obama would be "a disaster" but don't offer one single reason why you say that. So what is anyone supposed to get out of your post?

The meadia has been putting too much importance on Iowa while its just the beginning. I am happy for Obama but I hope that those of us in other states with upcoming primaries keep an open mind and not be swayed by what happened in Iowa. While I do like Obama and his message, I am not yet convinced that he can win in November. Let's hope that we make the right decision in '08.

The turnout in young Americans is very appropriate.

Currently the U.S. National Debt is 9.2 trillion dollars. This debt is backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. In other words, it is backed by the governments ability to tax U.S. citizens. The debt is incurred by current citizens, and will be paid by future generations.

Frankly, our system has only one real mechanism to curb out of control spending and debt creation. That is, for the youth to stop it.

However, the youth have a formidable battle because under our system, there is an overwhelming incentive to push as much debt onto future generations.

I'm very much encouraged to read this. I have been quite discouraged by all the "Hillary" banter about inevitability. She is the LAST person our country needs now. We don't need a person who has negatives already in the 40's; we have that now with GWB. Change/revolution may be afoot...Obama represents change and is someone that our country needs. Iowa has restored some of my faith in the American voting public (who I believe are mostly morons).

If people are that swayed by "fawning articles" then their minds are pretty much made up anyway. Just because THE "favorite" isn't YOUR "favorite" doesn't mean his/her supporters are less sure of their choice than you are.
