i thnk obama should win for prsident..im rooting fo him.
Obama, Huckabee make the case for change.
i thnk obama should win for prsident..im rooting fo him.
i think obama hould win..im rooing for him.
Everyone see to wants change. It is a open ended word. Change can be for the worse.
Do we want a female president just because it is something different, or a black president for the same reason? Or someone who just wants to be the anti-Bush.
Buyer beware! We should vote for someone solid will ovious leadership background and the respect of the people and congress.
Bill Clinton needs to change his role too. He needs to make Hillary look like the boss. By repeating over and over what Hillary says. By continually indoctrinating the crowds with Hillary's "great ideas". In Iowa he looked like the candidate and he kept giving his own opinion instead of backing hers. This will give the electorate confidence in her, it also keeps the focus on her.
Edwards just takes too many votes away from Hillary. Obama won by one per cent in Iowa among democrats. This is a very significant statistic because OBAMA has a new base which Hillary and Edwards are strangers too. Their experience actually works against them, especially their voting record. New Hampshire is the land of independents and will go OBAMA's way. Hillary needs to start preparing for New York and California. If she loses either one she has no chance. Even the stars of today are with the OBAMA movement. She has lost the women vote, so she needs to focus on the minority vote ie. immigration and a plan for the poor. Everyone knows she is strong on Health Care, so she should emphasize other NEW ISSUES. AN issue that would inspire the middle class.. A middle class plan that promises a bright future. BE SpECIFIC. No one wants to here what she has done they want to hear what she is going to do. Going negative has distracted her from her.. The war on Iraq really hurts Hillary. She needs to be specific on that issue. What will she do and why can she do it faster than any other candidate. These are the types of issues OBAma has already been talking about however there is a lot of room for expansion on specifics in regards to these issues. Hillary needs to look presedential. She needs to hold fewer events with larger crowds. That's how waves start. A small wave can turn into a big wave in a hurry.
You cannot Go negative all the time you have to show why you can do the same "thing better". and then convince others. Edwards and Hillary's voting record hurts them in this regard.
dont fool yourslef obama will get schooled in the general election. his being black wont give him a pass. all you people better understand its the head of the free world we're talking about not college fraternity president. dont believe the hype............
Obama may get schooled, but the point is if the people decide this is the guy they want to vote for so be it. If people want to vote for Huckabee so be it. The great thing about last night is the politcal establishment got screwed. All that money and their candidates got clobbered. What a great day for democracy!
I'm so sick of the experience thing. George W. Bush had zero experience. He was governor of Texas in name only. Everyone knew, but many people choose to overlook the fact that the LT. governor had all the power and Texas had the weakest gubernatorial system of all, but for them that was just a minor technicality because "hey he's a guy you would want to have a beer with". I guess you have forgotten the selling point for GW was that he would be surrounded by strong experienced people.
People clearly understand it's the head of the free world and don't worry about them falling for the hype because after all that's how we got ol George and look at what this head of the free world has done for the US.
I'm always amazed by the free pass thing, because hte only president in my lifetime who has been given a free pass is BUSH!!!

Comment: NO ONE LIKES BEING CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN. EXPERIENCE.AND JUDGEMENT. WHAT CAN HILLARY DO THAT OBAMA CANNOT. THIS IS THE QUESTION I HAVE BEEN ASKING MYSELF. I THINK THE WORLD WILL WELCOME OBAMA AND AT LEAST GAVE HIM A FAIR CHANCE. REPUBLICANS WILL SWALLOW THEIR PRIDE AND WORK WITH OBAMA. THEY WILL NEVER DO THAT WITH HILLARY. HILLARY AND EDWARDS ARE GOOD PEOPLE, HOWEVER THEIR VOTING RECORD AND THEIR LACK OF COURAGE HAS LEAD ME TO QUESTION WHETHER THEY HAVE THE RIGHT INSTINCTS AND JUDGEMENT TO BE IN OFFICE. I REALLY THINK THEY WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE UNDER AN OBAMA PRESIDENCY. OBAMA WILL NOT TRY AND CONTROL EVERYTHING.
sANDY, EDWARDS IS DESpERATE. thIS MAN FOLLOWED JOHN KERRY. HE WILL DO AND SAY ANYTHING. EVEN IF HE MEANS IT NOW IT IS TOO LATE. OBAMA AND CLINTON ARE TOO SMART, THEY KNOW THAT WHAT YOU SAY TODAY COULD FINISH YOU TOMORROW. ONLY A CANDIDATE WITH NOTHING TO LOSE WILL SAY WHAT EDWARDS IS SAYING. WHAT HAS HE DONE. BE HONEST. HILLARY IS pROUD THAT SHE WENT AGIANST HER pRINCIpLES TO GIVE BUSH A BLANK CHECK. WHY. IT WAS GOOD FOR WESTERN NEW YORK. HILLARY IS NOT STUpID IF THE WAR HAD NEGATIVE ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES IN BUFFALO, SHE WOULD HAVE VOTED AGAINST IT. TRANSpARENCY IS SOMETHING NIETHER pARTY WANTS. NO ONE LIKE GETTING CAUGHT WITH THEIR pANTS DOWN AND THEN LECTURED ABOUT JUDGEMENT CALL..
fair chance what the hell is wrong with you people we're talking about the leader of the free world, not the head of a college fraternity. obama love you as you may has no substance, what does he stand for? is it that he makes white people feel comfortable ( joe biden was right) because this man will be the weakest president of all time.
Before Senator Obama committed to the presidential race, this MarineMom who holds a history degree and is of President Kennedy's era, began the "due diligence" of research that a wise investor employs.
President Obama has a magnificent ring to it! President Obama is a magnificent, worthy hallmark of change for America's own citizens, desperately needed by its dying international reputation, which only true diplomacy and statesmanship can restore. President Obama is that statesman-president!!! I am a proud resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and everywhere I ride my motorscooter, folks will see not only the MarineMom plate, but a campaign placard: OBAMA MAMA!!!
JOY! "Obama Mama" I am, and the mom of a United States Marine who redeploys to Iraq.
vipersgt just for clarity 38% of over 232000 attendees is 88k+ votes
I know it was just a cold day in Iowa, but I don't see much evidence in the media of what I consider to be the big story that came out of this. The top GOP candidate got more than 40 TIMES the number of votes than did the top Democratic candidate. THAT does not bode well for the Democrats.
While the results show 940 votes for Obama vs. 39,814 for Huckabee, that's not the actual vote numbers. Democrats elect delegates, with each of those delegates representing between 30 and 60 people (44 in the case of my area). Democrats traditionally have a much larger turn out than the GOP at caucus time as comatoast says, we also will vie to the candidates with the most support. Obama actually had somewhere between 28,000 and 56,000 individual supporters on caucus night.
Looks like you really do not know how the caucus is conducted and the results reported. For your information - around 120,000 republicans voted in a straight straw poll. and, around 250,000 democrats caucused - that means, spent over 90 minutes in precinct-by-precinct meetings - and at the end of these protracted discussions, reported their preferences by precincts (not individual voter counts). If you use the precinct outcome (38% for Obama, 30% for Edwards and 29% for Clinton) as surrogates for vote counts, you are looking at over 80,000 democrats voting for Obama - and that is more than twice the votes for Huckabee.
The take-away from Iowa is not very comforting for the Republicans - as the democrats had a 2 to 1 showing in the caucus. Wait till the election coming November to see what this means!
???? Fishboy, the actual number of caucus-goers was more than 234,000 for the Democrats and just under 113,000 for the Republicans. Obama received more than twice as many ballots as Huckabee-- about 88,000 compared to Huckabee's 40,000 or so. Nice try, though.
Haffaja you are the joke. Like so many who really don't understand our government, you think the President does all the work and decision-making. He/she sets the vision and makes common sense decisions based on the fatcs set before him by the 'experts' he places in positions of power. No person has the array of knowledge necessary to run this country but rather surrounds him/herself with competent people in various fields. The President inspires, informs and convincing the nation of the path and follows through.
Status quo? Obama is a joke! Why would anyone in their right mind give a vote to a man with little to no experience DOING ANYTHING except running a campaign? NO leadership experience whatsoever. Four years ago he was a state Senator and he eeked his way into the US Senate in Illinois. Barack is all talk and no substance, all dreams and no real vision. If he gets the nomination, he will be torn apart during upcoming debates especially against John McCain or Mitt Romney. We have seen Barack's weaknesses in debates with many opponents talking. H weaknesses will be even more evident against more experienced candidates head to head. He can deliver a speech - that's all he has shown us. That will carry him for a while. But it won't win him the presidency.
If you are looking for a candidate from the old boys network, then you would not support Obama. He has new ideas, not afraid to defy the old school of politics, and would put new blood into the broken system. Caucusing in a college town, I saw many young attendees. There were approx 300 voters in attendence at my precinct, with 200 going for Obama. It is his drive and connection with the young people that is going to make him the next president. Six of the last eight democratic presidents were also the winners of the Iowa caucus.
This is to haffaja......
You are wrong about us and Mr. Obama. You want to send the same hacks back to run this great country into the ground like our war hero Bush. You must be out of your mind. I am telling you this time we (Americans) won???t stand for it, its over for you guys and girls who think the same old same old will do sorry. America just woke up and like we did to the japs/germans in WWII we are taking the fight to the enemy (unfortunately its big money corporations and those sneaky lobbyist and don???t leave out those nice insurance companies that forget to back you up when the chips fall) and there is nothing you or I can do about it. THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKENED!!!!!!!
Mike Huckabee gets my vote ... and that's precisely how he'll win the election ... one vote at a time. Romney is an angry man ... A VERY ANGRY MAN. I wouldn't trust him to make level-headed decisions that affect the country and the world. Clinton is a perfect example of that time-honored saying, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything". Obama may give Huckabee a run. Edwards touts "middle class" ethics, when he's so clearly "upper class".
Yes, my vote's with Huckabee.

You should look at how the Dem caucus is conducted before you read anything into the numbers. The GOP voters go in and mark a ballot and go home. The Dem caucuses are a 2-3 hour commitment, from 7-10 pm, so the turnout is always very small by comparison. The result, however, is that 2500 people have a very large effect on the next few days, while the candidates and the media make a big deal over what is no more than a survey without any statistical basis.
The biggest signiicance of the Iowa vote was the gravitation of independent and disillusioned repulicans to the democratic caucus. The electorate is viewing the republicans in congress as obstrutioists. This wave vote, "Can you hear us now", will be devasting to repulicans for a whole generation.
Fishboy, what are you smoking? Many, MANY more people caucused for the Democrats than for the Republicans. Get your facts straight, at least.
Hillary his history. Apparently 68% of Iowa voted against her in favour of a "lawyer" and an "inexperienced minority. She does not have the trust of down home America. Regardless of how New Hampshire comes out, mainstream america has gotten tired of politics as usual. She is history and absent some big scandal that would destroy Obama she is over. This country is ready for dramatic change, such as a female president or a black one. She has self eliminated herself by staying with old Bill and never having a solid opinion on anything. There is nothing she can do now. I predict a 60-40 nomination in favro of Barrack. JD,MBA,MA, oklahoma
What a great day for America! Obama has rejuvinated my faith in our country. We are living in a time where the power elite has taken us to a pointwhere our economy is in a mess, gasoline over $3.00 a gallon, people losing their homes, and the credit card companies laughing all the way to the bank!
We do need to repair all the damage those "One Worldism" folks have done to our country. NAFTA and "free trade" has destroyed the small rancher by importing beef from Canada, and large companies moving off shore to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
The first thing the new President needs to do is impose an excess profits tax on the oil companies to take away the incentivies to gouge the American public. We can take the funds raised and funnel it into the heating assistance program and extend it to the middle class who are the people who pay the bills in this country.
Obama is change!!
