Nothing frustrates me more than those who rush to judgement or make statements about candidates without checking information for themselves. I am a democrat and liked all three frontrunners in the beginning. I went to each of their websites as well as the Republicans to see where the candidates stood. It enrages me to see on all the news shows (I mean all of them) people continue to say that Senator Obama is not clear or has not stated his positions! On his website, he has detailed policies and/or ideas from economy, health care, supporting individuals with disabilties to foreign policy. They are well thought out and researched ideas and plans. I wish that more people would find out for themselves rather than accepting what tidbits that "haters" spew to the news. Obama is my man for sure. No other candidates are as detailed as he is on positions- Democrat or Republican.

People should not want to vote for someone who has to change positions in order to win, or because they are losing. If these candidates are true to themselves and to the voters, then they will speak honestly about their intentions. I would be suspect of anyone who does this. Your track record is what it is. I don't want no one to paint me a pretty picture, if it isn't pretty, just give me the facts, straight no chaser. This is why we are where we are today. As painful as the truth is, we are all to blame for the state of the country, including our politics. We want change, but not if we have to give up something in order to right a lot of the wrong, that has been going on. I am a believer, that we can have the America we all want, but everyone has to do their part. You can not want something, but yet want to do NOTHING!!!

Bill Clinton needs to change his role too. He needs to make Hillary look like the boss. By repeating over and over what Hillary says. By continually indoctrinating the crowds with Hillary's "great ideas". In Iowa he looked like the candidate and he kept giving his own opinion instead of backing hers. This will give the electorate confidence in her, it also keeps the focus on her.

Edwards just takes too many votes away from Hillary. Obama won by one per cent in Iowa among democrats. This is a very significant statistic because OBAMA has a new base which Hillary and Edwards are strangers too. Their experience actually works against them, especially their voting record. New Hampshire is the land of independents and will go OBAMA's way. Hillary needs to start preparing for New York and California. If she loses either one she has no chance. Even the stars of today are with the OBAMA movement. She has lost the women vote, so she needs to focus on the minority vote ie. immigration and a plan for the poor. Everyone knows she is strong on Health Care, so she should emphasize other NEW ISSUES. AN issue that would inspire the middle class.. A middle class plan that promises a bright future. BE SpECIFIC. No one wants to here what she has done they want to hear what she is going to do. Going negative has distracted her from her.. The war on Iraq really hurts Hillary. She needs to be specific on that issue. What will she do and why can she do it faster than any other candidate. These are the types of issues OBAma has already been talking about however there is a lot of room for expansion on specifics in regards to these issues. Hillary needs to look presedential. She needs to hold fewer events with larger crowds. That's how waves start. A small wave can turn into a big wave in a hurry.

I would like people to realize that Obama's most recent speech was not to outline in detail how he will go about changing policy in America. His purpose was to fire up his supporters after a great victory in Iowa. If you want details (as with any candidate) you have to go listen to one of his "every day" speeches. For that matter, how each candidate stands is clearly (most times) presented on their website. So for those of you who say that Obama has not said HOW he's going to change, are wrong in that assumption. Very wrong. He has clearly stated what the problems are and how he's going to change them several times throughout his campaign AS WELL AS on his campaign website www.barackobama.com. If you do the research instead of asking to be spoon-fed by the media, the answers are there.

Last time I checked, one SINGS the anthem, which does not involve hand gestures of any kind. The Pledge of Allegiance, however, does call for placing a hand over one's heart.

Can someone help me out here?

To me Obama has charisma without a doubt and he has better than average oratory skills and he talks to me (public) as if we have intellegence but if I take what I have heard and eliminate the emotional rhetoric that appeals to the fantasy that life was better when I was younger and that politicians were more honest. I am left feeling his message is un-clear especially with what he considers to be the problems that need to be changed and how he is going to bring about that change.

If this article is about how intellectuals are falling behind him is to be the agent of change then I am not sure that i can agree. I look at this generation that has grown up knowing only the technology that my generation engineered and built and I can only call it a two edged sword which I don't know if we have the wisdom to wield yet.

And if technology is his answer to "change" then please build the bridge to how this fixes the problems of todays 2 party partisanship, bought and paid for politicians, govt that seems to cross the line of constitutionality, and a congress that lets them get away with it. Simply put a government that doesn't feel a need to represent the people only the rich and powerful and influential.

I whole heartedly agree with you. I find it incredulous that he states he is a vehicle for change but doesn't tell what he is going to change or how he is going to do it. He is no more honest or original than anyone else. He is what he is, a politician seeking election and he is playing the heartstrings of a generation who has neither voted or acted politically. To back a person because he is young, good looking, charismatic and has polished oration skills is ludicris. He is politically unseasoned, but he is also enigmatic about things like his upbringing. He has shown disregard for the foundations of our patriotic duty by not placing his hand over his heart with the national anthem, defended not wearing the american flag lapel pin on his
person... the little things should matter for they forshadow the greater things. I think it is far too early to crown him champion, he has too much to answer for and explain before that happens.

I find it very sickening each and every time I read some media statement about Obama attempting to be the first "Black" president. First of all, that is not true. George Washington's president during this nation's war for independance was a "BLACK" man named Hansen, from Maryland. Facts you cannot argue, you can only discuss.

  • Posted By: gatosgal @ 01/04/2008 10:13:19 PM

I don't think of Obama as black or white. That's not important to me...and I really resent "angry black men" shaking their fist at me and mine and blaming us for all their troubles two centuries ago. I'm not buying into that phony guilt. I want a president who rises above all that and cares about people equally.

Just what we need...a Muslim selling us out to his brothers in the middle east. The media said it was mainly the younger generation that voted him in. I am working with some youngsters, some degreed, some not and all I can say is... we are in trouble. Obama is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Hillbillary is an idiot, but, she is the lesser of 2 evils.

I am an independent, but I will go to the Democratic Primary in my state (GA) and I will vote for Obama. I will also vote for him in the big election, if he's nominated, no matter who GOP's nominee is. This is the first time in a long time (I am 51) that I see a politician who - most likely - can be trusted. I hope I am right.

    • Posted By: wakeupamerica @ 01/04/2008 12:43:30 PM

for all of our sake I hope you are right, remember one thing everyone seems to be ingnoring. He is a muslem and he can't change the way he was raised.

      • Posted By: tstray @ 01/04/2008 9:00:52 PM

Just because Barrack Obama was raised in Indonesia as a child does not make him a Muslim. Sure, Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim country. However, it is also 10% Christian. My wife is Indonesian (but she has lived here for many years and is a US citizen now) and her family there is Christian. Anyone who says Obama is a Muslim is either ignorant or is just out to attack him without having his or her facts straight.

I take issue with people saying that he is Muslim because he was raised in Indonesia as a child. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country but it is also 10% Christian. My wife is Indonesian (but has lived here for many years and is a US citizen now) and her family is Christian. Anyone who says Obama is a Muslim is just ignorant or out to attack him without having his or her facts correct.

Either you're ignorant or you're despicable. Either way, you're spreading a lie. He is not nor has he ever been a Muslim. He was raised non-religious. In his twenties, he started working with a lot of churches in his role as a community organizer, and he eventually joined and was baptized in Trinity United Church of Christ.

        • Posted By: princess40 @ 01/04/2008 1:48:54 PM

Have you bothered to look into this Trinity United Church of Christ that Obama belongs to? This church pledges to remain loyal to their "mother country" - of AFRICA!!! (www.tucc.org/about.htm) And we want to elect this man to the country of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? Are you kidding me?? Does anybody care that he refuses to put his hand on his heart when pledging "allegiance" to the flag? If you want change, folks, go ahead and elect this man, and you will get change!!

          • Posted By: allamericanbetty @ 01/04/2008 3:36:15 PM

Yes, I do care that he refuses to put his hand over his heart and will not say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. This is the United States of AMERICA and if you are proud to be an American, you should place your hand over your heart and say the Pledge of Alligiance to our flag. It worries me that Obama won't. What else won't he do for America?

          • Posted By: KansasGuy @ 01/04/2008 2:41:20 PM

Princess, had you bothered to go a little deeper on their web site you would have been able to discover a deeper meaning to what is being said about Africa. Theirs is a traditional black church, no different than many eurocentric churches. Click the link, http://www.tucc.org/talking_points.htm, and read on.
