When will America get it? No candidate will ever change anything, but they will promise to do anything to get into office. The masses are asses, a bunch of sheep who will seemingly follow the person who tells them what they want to hear and believe - anyone for some Jonestown Koolaid?

only those who follow Hukabee, religious acts are repeated often!

Edwards is the only candidate wihout serious electability issues. I think that this is going to be seen more clearly as this race progresses. He"s the bet candidate!

If you really take a close look at the candidaes, it,s pretty easy to see that Edwards is the only one that is seriously electable. The others have too many issues to overcome.

He won and deserves his second place finish to be honored. He will be the best for the president.

I have listened to people who have now changed their vote to Obama / over Edwards. When they change their minds for who is electible, they assure politics as usual which is what they say they do not want.
You can not have change while these people stay in office - Clinton and I believe Obama both stated they wanted to be SENATORS above all else. BOTH missed the vote on the budget (555 BILLION DOLLARS / WHICH SUPPORTS THE WAR / both say they are against

All you have to know about the character of John Edwards is that he argued for the Iraq war and he voted for the Iraq war. And yet, in all these years, Mr Edwards has still not found the time to visit Iraq to witness the conditions on the ground or to meet with the young men and women he helped send to war. In approaching five years since the invasion of Iraq, Mr Edwards has still not found the courage to visit the war wounded at Walter Reed Medical Center. Nor has Mr Edwards found it necessary to visit Walter Reed to ensure that the degrading conditions have improved.

After repeatedly defending his vote for the war in the 2004 presidential race, Mr Edwards had a political epiphany in November of 2005, publicly stating, "I was wrong" and "I take responsibility for that mistake". Unfortunately, Mr Edwards is like so many other politicians who assume that saying they take responsibility is the same as actually taking responsibility. In reality, Mr Edwards has never taken responsibility for "that mistake". No amount of acknowledgments for being wrong will negate his responsibility to the tens of thousands of lives that are forever changed due to his decision to support the war.

Frequently in this campaign Mr Edwards has voiced his outrage towards the evils of industry. He has made lofty promises to end corporate greed and to hold unnamed CEO's accountable. Yet as so often is the case with Mr Edwards, his rhetoric rings hollow. How is a man who shirks his responsibility to the troops supposed to hold anyone accountable?

It is suicide to send Obama to the nov elections. His complete lack of experience may not matter to the hard core dem's but it will to the average American. The same could be said about Clinton, being first lady does not equate to management experience that a president will need to run the largest organization in the world.
The Jean Smart quote was laughable. The very idea that having a deep voice matters just shows how shallow and short sighted people are.

My only issue is that I'm not convinced yet that Obama can win in the South. I understand that he is drawing people in high amounts and he should be commended for winning a state that is 96% white. I just looking at the stats see that Edwards has shown the best chances in head-to-head polls at beating the Republican nominees as of right now. That could change as most will but I just want to get a Dem. in. Any one of them will have a similar affect on a lot of the changes for which democrats are looking.

Edwards just cannot compete with Obama when speaking. Obama is a gifted speaker and I truly believe he believes what he is saying other than Edwards just saying the part.

  • Posted By: CalifDemocrat @ 01/04/2008 3:37:28 PM

I like the essence of what Edwards is saying but his oratorical skills have to be significantly improved if he wants to beat Obama. Mentioning ad nauseam 4 to 5 people Edwards has met on the politcial trail in his speech last night is not a way to connect to his audience, it's a political speech cliche from the past. He allows too many seconds to go by between applauses. Edwards needs to show more of his passion and less of the cliches and be more authentic. I believe that is why Huckabee is connecting with the Republicans...he sounds like an intelligent regular guy who can think on his feet and be warm but who sounds like a leader. Edwards might not have the skill to deliver a great speech but if he wants to stay in the race he had better learn quickly or hire some professionals to show him how.

I don't want the R's totally out of Washington. I want the dems to control either the congress or the presidency. One party controlling congress and the presidency is trouble. Like we just had under Bush.

It is imperative for all to remember we need to have someone on the Democratic ticket who most voters are not going to turn away from so that this candidate may at least have their grudging support and get a fighting chance to win the presidency in November. Obama is an interesting candidate but will he be able to win the support of people over the age of 35 - those less prone to daydreaming and more experienced with the harsh realities of life? Will he be able to quelch their fears that he has not been tested enough for the job of the presidency? Will half the country go over to his opponent at election time just out of nervousness? We need to honestly answer these questions.

    • Posted By: j1ggy @ 01/04/2008 2:06:34 PM

The country is run by the daydreamers of the 60's who uncovered the harsh realities the status quo so often overlooks. Who can really claim to be tested for what lies in the future? Give the voters more credit than a nervous response.

I believe Edwards really thought he was going to be Obama, and is so disappointed that his comments only focus on himself. Even Clinton acknowledged both Obama and Edwards. I feel it was rude of Edwards not to do the same for both Obama and Clinton. Edwards needs to be careful. He must remember that they are all Democrats on the same team. How dare he critisize Obama because he feels "he's not mean enough".

Did Hillery state if Obama wins she would back him-no did Edwards-yes so what no thanks at least he did state if it should be Obama he would throw his support his way! did Clinton-no- what a b****

  • Posted By: RuthieM @ 01/04/2008 11:43:33 AM

I thought it disgusting that Edwards bolted up on stage and immediately went into a victory speech without even congratulating Senator Obama on his win. It was so pigish of Edwards, so slimy, then ranting and raving as though he were the winner there. At least Hillary Clinton congratulated Barack Obama on his Iowa win.

    • Posted By: pinkpanther87413 @ 01/04/2008 1:37:16 PM

so its slimy not to say good job? which neither of the other two have said for over a year, Edwards was a joke to both of them due to funding! so what, at least he was gracious enough to state, if it is to be Obama he would throw his support to him!! so slimy to do, i know-not, try again!!!

    • Posted By: faith @ 01/04/2008 1:08:57 PM

you have to be kidding me you are would about him not say good job when the jobless rate is up 5 percent our you men a dieing for what and people are losing thier lives because the do the have health inn. you are so shallow

  • Posted By: dlite @ 01/04/2008 1:12:34 PM

As far as Clinton goes...Just look at where all the 'experience' in D.C has gotten us! We need BRAINS and GUTS not 'political experience'!

    • Posted By: pinkpanther87413 @ 01/04/2008 1:28:28 PM

don't forget the missing ingredient, Edwards has plenty of-HEART TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Posted By: JohnHerrera305 @ 01/04/2008 1:24:12 PM

I thought Barack Obama's victory speech was powerful and inspiring. Obama is a fresh face in the world of politics. Obama seems to be the canidate that can actually change the course of our government in the right direction. We have been broken for a while and we need fixing. We need a leader who will not give to corporate greed. We need someone who doesn't owe "favors" to anyone with power or influence.
We as Americans must elect someone who the world can see as the leader of the new free world. I think by electing Obama we will make a huge statement to the world that the United States is ready to lead the world with someone who has not only our interests in hand, but also those of the world,

I am just so torn. All 3 have really good qualities, and I for one am not swayed by gender or color. Those that are swayed, are not as open minded as they apparently like to voice that they are! I am pleased that it is still a close race, as I have not yet chosen my canidate, but am leaning towards Edwards. He at least is NOT taking money from the big corps, thus does not have to answer to anyone when he wins. Unfortunatly I cannot say the same about Hillary or obama. Otherwise, my decision would be even tougher!
