Oh for heaven's sake, Eleanor; there never was a Camelot to return to. That whole fantasy was manufactured after the fact and even the most die-hard of Kennedy fans (excepting you, I guess) admits it was overdone. And even if there were a Camelot to return to, Barak Obama ain't gonna get us there. Maybe some day he'll deign to tell us just how he plans to "reclaim the national unity America has lost" while simultaneously making us beloved around the globe--IF he ever stops droning on about the ephemeral "hope" and "change". Barak Obama as JFK?? Don't think so. George McGovern, perhaps

I think the country, the young of this country...need someone like Obama. A person that can transcend race, family lineage, color, and economics. I support Hillary, but I am questioning that support now. I am a Black man, and I think that Obama would inspire Black men in this country to stand up, and be whatever they chose to be...not what the media portrays us to be. He will legitimize those people that don't have a mom and a father in the home, or a rearing that has always steered them towards the White House. This is a country by the people, for the people...not only some people (namely, White men!). I am hopeful for an Obama in the Capitol, it would say to the world, that if we can police Democracy in everyone elses home, that we have truly shown that we can champion it for the most disenfranchised people in this Democratic society, Black Americans! He makes me happy, and hopeful. None of the other politicians do that...I don't know if I will be able to cast that vote for Hillary if it comes down to a show between her and him. I also do fear for his safety. I have seen the evil of White people in this country, and as many of them that have shown me kindness, it only takes the evil of one to undo everything Obama is. I hope, for the sake of this country, that nothing happens to that man. The 60's will pail in comparison to what can happen now.

JFK was a special person, one we all truly believed in. Obama is not one I would put my trust in, I think he still has a lot to answer for about his past and his beliefs. I agree with devan95 that he is a disaster waiting to happen to this country. I believe that there is someone out there that would and could bring America back to what it was and what it should be. There may never be another Camelot but there can and should be a better America. God bless the United States of America.

Obama is cold, man. I can't believe anybody could be this cold:
During his years in the legislature, Obama voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive,

  • Posted By: spideweb4 @ 01/05/2008 6:33:41 PM

no way, JFK was a special person. This Obama has a lot to answer for yet. I don't trust him one bit. This country is not ready for someone with his background. This country needs someone who is for America and American values, who that is I am not really sure, but somewhere out there there is a person who can and should lead Ameica back to what it sould be.

Obama is no JFK - he is Jimmy Carter. Period. A disaster waiting to happen. If he thinks I'm going to pay for Elenor Clift's medial bills, her mortgage, her limo, etc. he's crazy as a loon. Just like Carter was. You're not getting Hope, you're getting Plains!

To me ,it is scary to think of someone so inexperienced leading this country. Can you see Obama seated with world leaders that are against this country.I pray God helps us all think who we could depend on in that sitituation to know what is best for all this country. Thalia McGill

It's hard, if not impossible, to imagine anything scarier than what this country has had in the White House the last seven years. America has finally woken up to the fact that the United States can no longer rule through coercion and fear and that there is a better way. Barack Obama will lead us down a better path and restore a new confidence in the american people that the United Staes government can once again be "of the people, by the people and for the people". He is the only one of the candidates that is not tainted by corporate greed and it is truly refreshing he is NOT part of the existing "good ole' boy" network. "Camelot" yes it is a dream, a dream that this country can once again restore its credibility in the world. Trite, maybe but as far as I'm concerned Barack Obama is the new black King Arthur and I would be proud to have him as our next president!

The day I graduated from High School in 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot. Last Thursday something that died then was reborn. I have not felt this positive and proud of America in forty years. Go for it Obama and may God protect you and keep you safe.

So Devan95, what did the Bush administration teach us? From where I stand, this Republican administration has only taught us how to lie, cheat and steal. Is this something you want to teach your son and daughters? Sounds like it is. It literally makes me sick that people, such as yourself, can't see not only how bad this Republican Administration is, but how in-ept the current Republican administration is to perform their jobs. We desperately need diversity in the White House and throughout Government! The current Republican administration has represented the USA in a poor fashion. The way I see it, I rather have someone in the White House lying to us to save his marriage then to have someone in office lying to the American public to accomplish a personal agenda. You see, what the Democratic administration did only hurt a few. What the Republican administration has done has mamed and killed thousands. The leader of our current administration do not understand anything but Texas. To be an effective US President, you have to be more undersanding, contrite, and willing to tolerate all people and understand where they're coming from first, before making decisions to go to War for your own personal agenda. Over 3,000 US troops have been killed, including 3 of my brothers, because the current Republican administration did not stop to use their head! At least the Democratic administration did this.....they understood the effect a War of this magnitude would have on the US and how we would be portrayed throughout the World. Do you understand this concept devan95? I see you don't, which is why you are shooting off at the mouth! As a result of the continuous lies fed to us by the current Republican administration, the entire World wants to take the US down. We can no longer enjoy the freedoms we once enjoyed and based on your comment you don't care! In my opinion, I think Obama and/or Hucabee are uniters, like JFK, who can fix this this crap our current in-ept Republican administration has gotten us into. Gone are the days when white America can say whatever they want without suffering consequences. Think about this before you want to Kill and Mame others. Have you lost any family in the War? Better yet, have you ever served in the war? Diversity, compassion and knowledge is the key. And yes young people have all. So don't be so quick to put them down. You have a daughter who will one day grow up and perhaps take on some of these challenges. And I'm sure you don't want people talking about her in such a negative way. It is time to give other intelligent individuals an opportunity to unwind this mess our current Republican administration has entangled us in. This is the time for younger minds to prevail!

    • Posted By: devan95 @ 01/05/2008 5:46:35 PM

I'm not putting young people down - I was right were you are when I voted for Jimmjy Carter. He was a disaster - sounded just like Obama does now - and I will NEVER vote for another Democrat as Carter made us ashamed to be Americans. And all Clinton gave us was Monica Lowinski and a double standard for sexual harassment. This is thier legacy, which was also "hope": www.wizardsofaz.com/waco/waco2.html Obama has no gravitas which seemed to be so important to your side last time......

have some concerns about a black man even running for president. Not to mention being elected. I hope America has matured to such a level social unity, that a man can be elected sole on he ability to demonstrated the kind of confidence that is required to gain the presidency. Time will tell. I don't want the man to win because he is black, but because he is able to convey to the voters that his plan is well thought out, that he is the right man for the job. He understands the task ahead and is will to do everything in his power to enhance and promote the level and productive qualityof life we have in this country. Running this country is about sound judgement and the willingness to be point man in a world of uncertainty. The courage to make the unpopurlar chioces and still maintain a level of national support cross all line..I don't know if politicians pray or not. At this point it would be recommended It is my hope that every christian believer take a moment to seek, God's direction in such a critical matter. Don't vote for things you like about a candidate, but what is right about the person. .Many tyime we as a people of this great country, we the want the goverment to do certain things only to find out it was not a good move. Then we want to blame the person that had the power to protect us from ourselves, for trying to be popular as opposed to being unpopular and practicle. Only God knows the future and what is best. We should pray the our next leader takes his que from someone that has the big picture.

Ted Sorensen is absolutely correct about Barack Obama. And as for experience, if Obama can handle the Clinton Machine and win, he'll have no trouble handling world leaders.

to me i think you are afraid a black man will be president that while you don't think before you make a comment to me obama will unite america and the whole world he will command respect america has lost from clinton era to bush era. he will be a role model to every kid growing up in america and the whole world. its sad that you are the one that is afraid of change i sure you love the way the whole world view america for your information america is one of the poorest countries in the world today and china has america by the neck and we need some who will stand up for our believe and that man is obama he will unite all americans and the world.

I am so overjoyed to see the nation is looking for a man and a movement that can unite us again...I was afraid we werent capable of that anymore...but thank you fellow Americans and thank you Barack Obama.

Obama's agenda is so far left it would make George McGovern blush. And JFK would not have gone anywhere near where this guy is philosophically. Two examples to highlight the stark difference: JFK cut taxes, Obama will raise them; JFK confronted our enemy, Obama promises to cut and run from the enemy. This does not remind me of JFK but it does remind me of another candidate who fooled the younger yoters with a promise of hope and change in Washington. That candidate was Jimmy Carter and we all know what a disaster he turned out to be. Bad enough to elect a far left Marxist to the US Presidency but to elect one still in diapers will make us the laughing stock of the world. And will make terrorists mouths water. God help us!

    • Posted By: gators4114 @ 01/05/2008 1:37:15 PM

God has already helped us - we have survived 7 years of W's incompetence. Taxes need to be raised to pay for W's Iraq War. Don't forget the terrorists made their biggest gains under W's watch. "Far left Marxist" - Repubican desparation is already starting and the general election is 10 months away. 2008 is the year of change - Republicans say bye bye to the White House in 2009 - 8 years of Republican incompetence is more than enough - move over Republicans - you have failed.

The only thing the last Democrat administration accomplished was to teach your daughter what a blow job was, the varied uses of a cigar and how to shred the Constitution: http://www.wizardsofaz.com/waco/waco2.html And the FIRST attack on the twin towers was also in 1993 and do you remember who was president then? Hint: the same people who let Osama bin Laden go so he could finish the job in 2001.

        • Posted By: Muzzy @ 01/05/2008 4:09:41 PM

And who's the person that let him go in 2001?

  • Posted By: dossevi @ 01/05/2008 4:04:16 PM

The comparison to JFK is inescapable for all those who have met the Senator, loved JFK, and believe in an exceptional role for America in the world.

Same old same old needs to go She has been in the political arena for many years. What has she did? Nonething for the American people.
Obama ........ God Bless this man and give him the strength and all the knowledge to lead this great country we live in.
