I really see no good outcome to Pakistan... Iran and Iraq are small fry compared to Afghanistan and Pakistan, which has 30-40 nukes. The terrorists in mountains may not be sophisticated or "be able to operate a laptop", but that doesn' t mean they won't be able to do something with Pakistani nukes... all they have to be able to do is get in a position to give the orders to someone who does know how.

Musharraf has a limited shelf life, if he gets overthrown by the Taliban, what will the US do? Pakistan has a population of 162 million compared to Iraq's less than 29 million, and we have our hands full with Iraq. I know what I 'm going to do... the house I will buy next year will have a basement, which I will convert into a fallout shelter...

This article seems like a propaganda and it is mighty nonsense, beginning with its title "Al Qaida has a new triggerman". If this man negotiated deal with Musharraf, and has led his tribesmen, how can he be new triggerman? Why sudden attempt by Musharraf and Newsweek to bring this name in limelight? I smell something fishy. But the contents of the article equally ridiculous if you tear them apart, analyze them, and read in between the lines. It does not add up. These tribesmen are very clever, down to earth, no-nonsense, brave, unafraid of death, shrewd and alert. They can unleash their country charm and convince you of their innocence. They follow Koran, a book that teaches to kill as it does peace. Before negotiating find out what part of Koran have these people adopted.

Anything that blames Al Qaida for anything has to be propaganda. We all know Bush is the evil one. Al Qaida is just a peace loving organization that wants to bring love to the world.

You sound alot like a Democratic Congressman....are you?

Good observation Ombrahma! I'm not sure if Sami Yosufzai is a relative of Rahimullah Yosufzai, who has been busy promoting Musharraf and the Military in The News International, Pakistan. Both are unfortunately Pashtuns and I don't understand that some Pashtuns, like the two mentioned, can blame their own people of being terrorist while they very well aware that they are leying and it is a criminal act in the Pashtun culture. Pashtuns like the Yosufzai Co. are really a shame for all Pashtuns around the globe.
The junta has been paying them well and therefore they write such nonsense, but rest assured that their days, like Musharraf's, are numbered. Remember me when you witness this in the near future. Cheers

I totally disagree with the involment of Baitullah Mehsud in any suicide attack why?
How Taliban who were less educated and living in remote areas' attacked in city like Islam Abad and other citties
Only those who were living in the cities may exercised such attacks
A man who is totally illetrate and living in remote area how he access to such a crucial area where they exercised the attacks

All Taliban have beared but in the assassination we observed a very smart and clean shaved personel

The world is unaware that these types of attacks are only exercised by the top intelilegence personal only

These tacts are known by the intelgence agencies and how an uneducated commander can plan

Baitullah Mehsud is just a drama and he and his man have no capability to do the like attacks

If they can then the Musharaf and other Govt personal will be no more alive

Only those were targetted by the current regime who have different openion of the Govt.

Why after a few minutes the govt official wash and clean the spots

why the doctor presurised to change their statement

why the Govt after vanishing the all possible septoms invite SYP

These are dramas and Musharaf already determined to remove the Banazir Bhutoo from the seen

    And resposible for the attacks

Its just amazing how much we know about al Qaida and how readily we blame them for everything from political assassinations to jaywalking, yet despite all we know we never seem to be able to capture even one of them. Seems to me its just an easy out to blame them, but if any ever got captured we would find that they are to blame for almost notning and have no capability beyond a tape recorder with which to do anything. So we make sure never to capture any; kill yes, but only "leaders," capture so thay can speak, never. Never was there a politician of any stripe who didn't love a threat,or a conspiricy and al Qaida provides both of them for the second raters who constitute the world's political figures today. Since Pakistan will inevitably be an Islamic Republic within five years, maybe we would be better off to negotiate with those who will lead it then rather than those who, under our previously flawed guifdance, have made this inevitable. Dump Musharref and find the Islamic leaders; talk to them, not to a loser. Oh, I forgot, we don't deal with anyone who is not amenable to our policy of establishing right wing dictatorships or spreading our perverted notion of "Democracy.

I've always thought it odd myself, that the media seems to find them when they want, sit down with them for interviews............but our government don't know where they are?

As far as negotiating with them........where do you start when your negotiating with someone that's only goal in life is to kill you?

      • Posted By: leodelaney @ 01/06/2008 4:22:01 PM

Same way you sit down with the American President and the bunch of Sly Stalone wannabes who areradvocating killing everyone in sight on the other side. After all if you listen to Bush and to those posting here they are no differnt at the bottom than any Radical Islamist and what works for one should work for the other.

        • Posted By: faminchin @ 01/06/2008 9:06:11 PM

That's where your confused. This is pretty simple.....it's a battle of good vs evil. If you can't see that then your really lost! The US military does everything they can to avoid civilian deaths.....while the radical islamist target innoncent civilians. America's history has been extending freedom to the world, while radical islamist have repeatedly stated world dominance is their goal and to get there their plan is to kill everyone that disagree's with them.

You sound alot like a democratic senator or congressman....are you?

          • Posted By: leodelaney @ 01/06/2008 9:32:34 PM

In good versus evil, it is always very difficult to decide which is which. In this case is it a small group of fanatics who believe that they must fight aginst invasion and threats to their life style and do so by using the only weapons at their command, stealth and terrorism that is evil? Or is it the huge military giant of 300,000,000 who invades, without reason, has culpability in the deaths of hundreds of thousands, overthrows governments, occupies formerly soverign nations, and sets up puppet governments all in the name of having things their way and on the basis of outright falshoods and self indulgent rationals? And I really wish you wouldn't throw that fatuous crap about avoiding civilian deaths around. The US military is just that, a military force and like all military forces its job is to subdue and kill. The difference is that the Islamic terroist knows what he is doing and faces the fact that innocents die while the US Military uses modern weapons to stand off and kill and thus hypocritically absolve itself of blame. And then of course it joyously trumpets the rebuilding of a school, hospital or mosque which it knocked down in the first place as an act of good ignoring the act of evil that was the destruction. What is good and what is evil? Who can tell but I do know that one aspect of evil is the justification of evil acts by condemning the acts of others and simultaneously praising the same acts on your part. In that respect I think the US wins the evil prize for its self delusional justification of its unnecessary and unjustified invasions and the results of those invasions.

And I most assuredly am a Democrat and I thank God every day for allowing me to be part of a forward looking, argumentative, multi faceted, intellectual discusssion oriented party rather than being a member of the simple minded, follow the leader, don't think for yourself, violence solves everything bunch of Neanderthals that is the Republican Party. I am not in the least insulted by your adolescent little comment, and indeed I thank you for recognizing me for what I am; as I do you.

One more thing that obviously has slipped by you while you had your head stuck up a donkey's butt. Our military isn't the ones that have destroyed the instructure in Iraq! It's been the terrorist that have done that. And that's why Iraqi's have become feed up with them and joined with us in hunting them down. Our military has done something that people like you said was impossble......and they deserve a pat on the back for a job well done. Instead you chose to defend the terrorist and their actions by justifying them in your fairy tale world of make believe.

Go ahead and tell me how much better life would be for Iraqi's....if only Saddam was still in power there. Tell me how much better the world would be, if Saddam was still in power.

I wish there was a way to take people like you and move them to an islamic country to live.......since America is so bad and evil in your mind!

            • Posted By: faminchin @ 01/06/2008 11:36:56 PM

Dude....are you really that dense? We have two sides...one side wants nothing more than freedom for a nation of people that have never know freedom before. We liberated them from a murdering tyrant who they chose to hang to death because of his murderous acts. We have another side that has declared their goal to be world dominance and their intent is to kill anybody that trys to stop them. They demand your submission to their religious beliefs...or your death. No middle ground. And you can't tell which is good and which is evil?

We have one side that does everything in their power to avoid civilian deaths....and another side that targets and kills as many innoncent civilians as they can....and you don't know which is good and which is evil?

Sounds to me like you have your head stuck so far up that donkey's butt that you have no concept of reality!

Like US ,Pakistan army has always one excuse for all wrong doings in the state and it is Al qaeda or Osama bin laden. For ordinary civilians they all are marketing mangers of arm industries who promoted and escalate war like situation on poor people and let arm industry to flourish successfully.Mussarf, benazir or all top politicians are part of ruling mafia of our system and they have no sympathy for their people and nation that's why benzir was brutally killed among her own people in her bullet proof vehicle.I am really afraid of consequences produced after her death. Its start of civil war. These people are not mouners but hungry and insecure people of Pakistan. As our leaders are looting the national resources in civilised manners so our people are showing their skills in their manner too.US aide to Pakistan army is no doubt promoting terrorism in south Asia. How much more destruction west is looking for to stop the attrocites of US in our region.

It can't be more naive and misleading than to believe that Baitullah Masud was behind it. As expected, shortly after the killing of BB, the generals' propaganda machinery was out and blamed it on Baitullah Masud, who also happens to be a Pashtun. Mullah Omar, a spokesman of Baitullah reacted by saying: "Musharraf did it and blamed it on Pashtuns. It is against our Pahstun tribal norms and traditions to kill a woman".

Bhutto was not fighting the militants, whom she had old and strong ties with and the militants had no reason to kill Benazir Bhutto. Many acts of attrocities can be blamed on al-Qaeda networks except the killing of Benazi Bhutto.

It has been a long strategy of the military regime in Pakistan to associate and identify Pashtuns with terrorism in order to hide their own faces behind all terrorist activities in Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, London, Madrid, America etc. There is whatsoever no difference between Pakistani Army and al-Qaeda, which should be the official designation for that huge terror organization.

Not Baitullah Masud but the generals of Pakistan did it. No one in the world will convince me otherwise.

Kabura please tell us more about this relationship between Bhutto and Mehsud.

      • Posted By: Kabura @ 01/06/2008 11:21:20 PM

Dear DIE2869: You mean Masud and not Mehsud, which is a wrong pronounciation. Well, the "relationship" beween Bhutto family and extremists goes back to 1973 when Daud took the helm in Afghanistan, which became a republic. Daud, who was much feared by the Pakistani establishment, wanted to solve the issue of Durand Line with Pakistan. In order to counter Daud and destabalize Afghanistan, Pakistan started the training of Afghan fundamentalists, extremists and terrorists. The first ones to graduate from such Pakistani terror factories were Gulbudin Hekmatyar and Ahmad Shah Masud. Nasiruallh Babur, former ISI chief and Interior Minister, who served during both Zolfaqar Ali and Benazir Bhutto had the resposibility to train terrorists against Afghanistan. Taleban were also created during Benazir Bhutto's reign. Baitullah Masud is also a product of the same terror factories (madrassas) .

If Musharraf wanted to, he could obliterate the mountain-dwelling Talibani outlaws in a matter of weeks. So could the USA, for that matter. Why the Taliban, and Al Qaeda, are allowed to exist only to butcher and menace peace-loving peoples at home (200 executions of tribal leaders who opposed them!) and around the world baffles us civilized individuals. It's time to obliterate the barbarians who refuse to do right or get educated, just erase them from the planet... because tolerating them, and negotiating with them, has only enabled them to scare, maim and kill more innocents. Enough is enough!

Have the intelligence agencies gone crazy? When was it a rule to start a a highly dangerous secret investigation by exposing every single word of its progress in investigation to media?
It is highly improbable that the things meant to be kept in Fort Knox are being made public just for nothing. Intelligence outfits having unlimited resources, cannot be so helpless that they openly accept defeat at the hands of uneducated nomads fighting the world super-powers with handmade tools just above clubs and daggers.
Can anybody believe that we can detect a would be hostile to earth lifeless celestial object loitering billions of miles away in space, investigate its dangers even by picking its grains and develop ways and means for safety, could be so helpless at the hands of a few man-faced animals hiding right in our own laps? It is beyond comprehension. Either the stories of space conquer are fake, or the hoax of terror, as it is made known to us to believe.

Perhaps it became a rule after the New York Times was allowed to publish classified information on their front page. You might not know, but we had Osama's satelite phone link in the begining......until the NYT's published that information on their front page and he stopped using it. We were able to monitor our enemies conversations, up until the NYT's printed that on their front page so our enemy could change their communications. We were also able to track their funds, until again, the NYT's informed them we were doing so.

You want to blame our intellignece agencies for not being effective.......while our media and our Democrats in congress do everything in their power to keep our enemy informed of not only what we are doing, but how we are doing it.

Of course, all these actions are justified.....because they are all done with the motive of destroying the evil Bush.

So before you start attacking our troops or our intelligence agencies, you might try pulling your head out of that donkey's butt and take a look around at what's been happening!

This just reinforces the need to go in and kill Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Bin Laden and all the top scum that are plotting more nefarious schemes. WE NEED TO GO GET THEM WHEREVER THEY ARE. Killing the foot soldiers in Iraq is a waste of time. Bush is not up to the job. We need someone who sees this reality.

Do you not understand? Islamic Jihadists were killing people long before Bush came along. The USS Cole was a victim of Islamic Jihadists. The embassy in Somalia. The millions of Afghani women who were removed from their jobs and covered in burquas and then not allowed to go to a male doctor. How many died? Theirs is not a religion of love, but hate. They hate anyone who does not believe in their interpretation of Islam. This includes Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus and other Muslims. They want to use modern weaponry to bomb us all back to the stone age. If we leave the middle east they will take over like
the cockroaches they are. And just like cockroaches, if you shine a bright light on them exposing them for what they are, they run back under the rocks from whence they came.

That's just their way of expressing their love. We need to accept this and understand their feelings. We can't be judgemental, we need to negoitate with them, have a peace summitt. If only we had a Democratic President, then the terrorist will like us.

After all, there is no war on terror...it's just a slogan. Just scare tactics. We all just need to turn the country over to Pelosi and Reed.......that's all. We need to bring our troops home and release these prisoners in Cuba. That will do it.
