While I support Obama's race to the White House I'm afraid for him because I believe he's placing himself and his family in danger of getting a "white bullet" if his candidacy grows too strong particularly if prejudice "White America" sees him as a real election threat - a BLACK man leading the WHITE House.

I don't think Obama will be successful in the New Hampshire primaries but his win in Iowa was good. Clinton needed a wake up call to remind her that she is not as unstoppable as she thinks and this election whipping from Obama did the trick.

It was good to see new options in a presidential race, i.e. an African-American (Obama) and a woman (Clinton), instead of the normal lineup of old white men that had become so traditional.

White America, however, will not allow a black man to win over a white man and a white woman to lead in the WHITE House. Obama and Hillary will be defeated and John Edwards will most likely (considering Richardson here) be the candidate to represent the Democratic Presidential hope in November 2008.

It will be interesting to see who Edwards selects as his Vice. If Clinton does, by chance, fall into victory, it would be interesting to see who she selects as her running mate; I don't think Obama will even be considered.

As a registered voting Democrat, I would feel very apprehensive in casting my vote for Barack Obama if he were to receive the Democratic nomination. Yes, he is a great speaker who inspires 'hope' and 'change' in all of his speeches, however; having said that, he has yet to say what solid 'actions' he would take to make this 'hope' and 'change' transpire.

...Maxtexture, obviously you haven't taken the time before posting to visit the Obama website. Every plan of action is posted in the relative area, and in depth.

Hillary's real defining moment will be when someone finally ask her a real question!

Like "Of all the women that have accused your husband of everything from rape, indecent exposure, groping, and sexual assault do you believe everyone of them are lying?"

Yes? Well you support abuse against women!

No? Well why are you not asking the the sexual predator not be put in jail?

    • Posted By: Allen Finklea @ 01/06/2008 9:15:25 PM

Sekova, are you serious? This is the most important question to ask Hillary?

I'm not for Hillary, but it's totally ridiculous to insinuate that something Bill may or may not have done, without Hillary's knowledge even if it did happen, is somehow her responsibility to answer for and should affect her ability to become president or be deemed an acceptable candidate.

Also, not that it's pertinent at all, but just because Hillary believed all the accusers were lying, which I don't believe she does, by what leap of logic would that mean she supports abuse against women?

Some of you people scare me.

WE ALREADY KNOW OBAMA IS GOING TO WIN THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION. NEW HAMpSHIRE HAS MANY YOUNG COLLEGE GRADUATES AND INDEpENDENTS. THIS IS OBAMA'S BASE, AND HE IS GOING TO WIN BY A LARGE MARGIN THERE. THIS IS NOT pROpAGANDA, THIS IS A MOVEMENT FOR REAL CHANGE AND NOTHING CAN STOp IT. THIS WAVE IS GOING TO RISE HIGHER AFTER EVERY STATE.

EDWARDS MIGHT COME IN SECOND IN NEW HAMpSHIRE, NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THAT.WHY/ THE ESTABLISHED MEDIA, IE. MSNBC IS BACKING HILLARY. THERE ARE pEOpLE WITHIN THE HILLARY CAMp WHO REFUSE TO ACCEpT THE NEW pOLITICS OF CHANGE. ALL MY ANALYSIS HAVE BEEN DEAD ON. MY COMMENTS ARE SO ACCURATE THAT pEOpLE ACTUALLY THINK I WORK FOR ONE OF THE CAMpAIGNS. WHEN pEOpLE ARE DEFEATED, LIKE THE HILLARY CAMp, THEY BECOME BITTER AND DESpERATE AND REACT LIKE TOM. WITH A LOT OF ANGER AND DENIAL. IT IS THEIR WAY OF TAKING BACK CONTROL FROM A SUpERIOR CAMpAIGN. HILLARY UNDERESTIMATED YOUNG pEOpLE IN THIS COUNTRY, MAYBE SHE THOUGHT THIS GROUp WAS 'NAIVE" AND COULD NOT SEE THROUGH HER SCRIpTED CAMpAIGN. HOpEFULLY THE HILLARY CAMp WILL LEARN FROM pEOpLE LIKE TOM, YOU LOOK DUMB WHEN YOU REACT NEGATIVE AND BEGIN TO LIE. WHAT A pOLITICAL FAN LIKE ME WILL BE LOOKING AT IN NEW HAMpSHIRE IS THE BATTLE BETWEEN OBAMA AND McCAIN FOR THE INDEpENENT VOTERS. THIS WILL BE A GOOD INDICATOR TO SEE HOW STRONG OBAMA IS NATIONALLY.
LET'S LOOK AHEAD TO THE pRESEDENTIAL ELECTION. OBAMA VS ?. THIS IS WHERE THE ANN COULTIER'S AND THE RUSH LIMBALLS WILL BEGIN THEIR MADNESS. BOTH ANN COULTIER AND RUSH LIMBALLS HAVE BEEN ADDICTED TO pAIN KILLERS. THAT IS WHY, AT TIMES, THEY SOUND LIKE TOM OR LIKE SOME CRACK HEAD FROM THE "HOOD'. THEY GO ON THESE TIRADES WHICH SEND A MESSAGE OF HATE AND RACISM. THE ONLY WAY THE REpEBULICANS CAN WIN IS TOO LIE THEY DO NOT HAVE A REALISTIC CHANCE OF WINNING THE pRESIDENCY. pEOpLE WANT CHANGE.

Hillary is a phony. Plus how can she control our country when she couldn't take care of her own house! She would have earned the respect of more women voters if she had thrown her cheating husband to the curb and not used him as an attempt for political gain!

I am reminded of an old southern saying as regards Obama's ideal of hope and
change: "want in one hand and spit in the other and see which one gets full
the quickest." Which is to say, there is no underpining of experience or, for that matter,
having traveled widely in the world and met with many leaders in many situations.
    That is the test.

    • Posted By: PatriotForObama @ 01/06/2008 12:47:30 AM

You don't get it. The message is a politics of hope and possibility rather than one of fear. Test? I choose superior intelligence and superior judgment over experience every time.

And I choose superior intelligence, superior judgment AND experience every time! Hillary for President!

The issue of Internet sales tax is relevant today because States are the only ones that impose sales taxes - browsers from one state buying from sites in another pits State against State. The Fair Tax is talking about a Federal sales tax - there is no issue, everyone pays. Again, I don't think the Fair Tax is perfect, but eliminating the IRS and the expense of reporting is too good to ignore. The simple explanation of FT: the costs of reporting adds 20% to the cost of everything sold. Eliminate that and add 23% Sales tax. We have nothing deducted from our paychecks.

    • Posted By: nikd @ 01/06/2008 8:54:29 PM

I take it the 23% Sales Tax will not involve any reporting, and hence will not add to the costs of reporting.
On the other hand, do you really expect corporations to pass on any of the supposed 20% reduction in reporting costs to be passed on to the consumers? If it was so, the BIG OIL would have passed on some of their money instead of reaping in the highest profits in history.
Also, be prepared for a ton of off-shore companies shipping "samples" and "gifts" to Americans mail-ordering goods over the Internet.

Please tell me what qualifies Senator Obama to be President of the United States of America? Will someone please expand on his expierence in private sector and his knowledge of business, mangement, budgeting, policy, hiring and firing. Change, remember what changes the out of the beltway President Catrer brought to America.

President Bush had a resume full of experience and we see what a great job he's doing.

People wake up! The framers of the Constitution intended for the average man to serve. Not rich elites who aren't in touch with the common man. And people wonder why politicians typically don't have your best interest at heart. Because they don't know what it is to be you! Most of them are wealthy or well off.

We'd do a lot better to start electing people with less expereience and are closer to the common man.

      • Posted By: shaynag @ 01/06/2008 8:44:19 PM

President Bush had a resume filled with no real experience. He did not succeed in business except through his father's friends. He became governor of Texas because the 'good ol boys' didn't like Gov. Richards. She had more intgelligence and moral authority in her little finger than he had in his whole body.
As she said at the Democratic National Convention in 1988 about George the First, " He was born with a silver boot in his mouth," The same is doubly true of George II.

Also, ;the framers of the Constitution were, for the most, the landed gentry. The wealthiest and the most influential men of their day. They did not intend that the average men of the time to serve. Back then, legislators had to take time away from their businesses to be in Congress enacting necessary laws. Average men did not have the financial means to leave their families.

It's all well and good to start electing people with less experience, but these people need to gain the necesssary experience by putting in the time and not speaking in poetic terms. Paraphasing Hillary, we do not need poetry, we need prose.

It's time for people to really understand who is ready to be President. It's Hillary!

DJ, Give us a break. By your logic, we could elect any local sanitation engineer as President if he really cared about people. We need a President who is qualified, and Obama does not meet even a minimum standard for anyone who is concerned about their kids, and is not consumed by his snake oil charm. He is the Pied Piper of the 21st century.

        • Posted By: djwiz1 @ 01/06/2008 7:26:27 PM

I'd trust a local sanitation engineer before I'd trust a rich man who led a privileged life. I'd expect the sanitation engineer to understand what's happening on the ground. He hasn't been looking at it all through binoculars from his ivory tower.

After years of you whiny traitor pig democrats incessantly helping the enemyin WARTIME, you think OK suddenly all is flowers and sugar. Hysterical *** liberals. You offer nothing. You are the party of parasites, traitors, thieves liars criminals- every last moron one of you.
Go live with Uncle Hugo, Uncle Sam is DONE with you.

    • Posted By: djwiz1 @ 01/06/2008 5:52:53 PM

The real enemy is the Taliban in Afghanistan (now Pakistan) and Osama. If Bush wants to shift resources to those two, I believe non-Republicans would support that wholeheartedly.

If Bush is Uncle Sam, he's done with you too unless you are very well off. If so, he has a tax cut for you.

      • Posted By: PoliticalRealityOnline @ 01/06/2008 7:29:13 PM

Dj, Where do you get this stuff? IRS statistics for 2004 (after the Bush tax cuts) indicate that the top 10% of taxpayers still paid 67% of federal income taxes. The top 25% paid 85%. The Middle 50% paid 12% and the bottom 50% paid only 3%. The reality is that the "rich" people you resent so much are paying huge taxes so you do not have to pay very much. The Bush tax cuts allowed those people to have more money to invest in businesses that create economic growth that helps your average Joe. Stealing more money from them as the dems advocate is both un-American and idiotic for the economy.

There is no oil in Pakistan and Afghanistan and if we leave Iraq, Al Qaeda will fill the void in Iraq along with Iran and Syria and they will both threaten the Middle East oil fields that are the life blood of the global economy. Why are you so determined to destroy the American economy?

        • Posted By: djwiz1 @ 01/06/2008 8:25:32 PM

When 1% of the population controls greater than 34% of the countries wealth, I don't see a problem with them paying a far greater percentage in taxes. That's just common sense to me.

          http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html

The 'potential' void you speak wouldn't be possible had Bush not invaded Iraq. Saddam hated Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda wasn't in Iraq in any meaningful way prior to the invasion.

Bush would have done better protecting the U.S. economy by investing the money spent on war on alternative fuel initiatives.

Heck, with us being 29th in the world in graduating engineers and scientists, I'd say our economy is in for a huge shock due to us not being able to keep up with the rest of the world on an intellectual level.

"Obama passed the most significant ethics reform since Watergate." Bald-faced lie. He did nothing of the sort because it is impossible. He's one fricking person. In America, one person can't pass any law at the State or Federal level, and almost every city/town. That statement is as stupid as those that talk about "Bush's Tax Cuts." Bush did not draft any tax cuts - he can't, Presidents do not write legislation. Congress did it and he merely signed the bill. Obama is nothing but naivete with a big mouth.

    • Posted By: nikd @ 01/06/2008 8:09:54 PM

      You are absolutely correct!
We are not at war either, as the President cannot declare one and the Congress has not.

I DON'T EVEN AGREE WITH OBAMA ON MANY ISSUES BUT HE TRANSCENDS THE ISSUES AND MAKES ME FEEL GOOD ABOUT THE UNITED STATES AND PROUD TO BE ABLE TO SAY SO AND VERY APPRECIATIVE OF THE FACT THAT I CAN SAY IT.

I agree that Obama is exceptionally sharp and a political thoroughbred. Most importantly, he will be a great president.

However, it will do Obama good for the media to be more critical about him. This will sharpen him for the general election and the presidency.

    Pt1

PoliticalRealityOnline, most of what you wrote is filled with hyperbole which, if you truly believe it, is downright scary. It's been proven there was no relationship between Saddam and Al-Qaeda, yet conservatives still trot out the lie, I presume, hoping if it's said often enough it'll be taken as fact. Saddam was a secularist. He limited religious expression in Iraq, and had no affinity with the religious idealists in Al-Qaeda...but let's not let the truth get in the way of our indignation, right PoliticalRealityOnline? There also were no WMD to send to Al-Qaeda, even if Saddam had wanted to do so.

You talk about the "possibilities" of where we'd be if Bush had not invated Iraq. That's your argument? A possibility? There's a possibility for anything to happen...or nothing at all. If people made all their decisions based on the "possible" actions of others, with no facts upon which to base their contentions, the world would be in worse shape than it is now. There's a "possibility" George Bush wants to rule the world. It's not likely, but there's a higher-than-zero percent probability. So, should we have George Bush arrested or, better yet his whole family? See where acting on possibilities can take you?

As far as Middle-East oil is concerned, that's not our oil. Contrary to what you and many other conservatives seem to want to make everyone believe, the US does not own the world. And just because we want the oil, and have allowed ourselves to become dependent upon it, does not give us the right to go in and take it, or have undue influence upon its distribution. And to your contention that the price of oil would skyrocket because of Mr. Obama???s socialist solutions and retreating from Iraq I have to laugh. Did you know that the price of oil was a little over 30 dollars a barrel with Bill Clinton left office? Or that it???s been rising precipitously since George Bush took office? Oil hit one-hundred dollars a barrel the other day for the first time ever.

Your criticism of Obama's national security experience is spurious. What experience did Bush have? What national security experience have any of our recent presidents had, with the exception of GHWB, before they were elected? Stop trotting out that old saw. It weakens your case against Obama when you???re hypocritical. Just be honest and say you don't like him. I could at least respect that.

Yes, Obama is charismatic...and that's a negative, because?? Do you have any idea of any of Obama's positions, or is it not important for you to waste your time getting actual facts? Obama has a position paper on his website for everyone whose interested to see. Have you read it? I also haven't heard Mr. Obama "refuse" to answer any question posed to him. maybe he doesn't always give the answer everyone is expecting, but he does answer the questions.
