As an African American woman, i am deeply moved by the support for Mr. Obama. I, however, must note that Americans must become more responsible for their future. We cannot reply on buzz words - "hope".....sounds like Bush in 2000. Bush told us he was a compassionate conservative, a uniter, not a divider....he told us he would reach across party lines and work with Democrats." He told us he would be a President for all the people. He told us he would bring a new style of politics to Washington..........
What happened? I implore the American people to ask more of the candidates. We need more than "hope" and "change"....make them define it. Let us use our powers of inquiry...and not fall prey to buzz words. I have no candidate in mind to support. I only want us to ask more and inquire more....

I am also an African American Woman but you know I dont think race has anything to do with why Obama should be president. We are all Americans and he stands for something that is genuine and you can see that he trully feels. He wants to bring about change to the country, to Unite us Americans and also help us regain our respectable/credible status in the world. Like most people, whenever the magic word CHANGE is brough up, people do not like to conform or adapt and think that change is good. We can not keep living in the past. What do you suggest? Do you want us to vote for someone that we know will keep us in the 90s and not move us forward but keep us stuck in the past? I am just curious when is not having a vision, hope, desire and change for the better not enough to suceed in life. If we did not visions as individuals, where would we be?

The former impeached, disgraced president is busy trying to rehibilitate his sullied legacy. How can he be the ambassador who will restore America's image? As far as I know, our image is just fine and was only a big joke when he disrespected the White House. Most people never have the honor and/or priviledge of visiting the White House. To my dying day, I will never understand how he could disrespect it the way he did. Please America, snap out of it! He doesn't deserve ever setting foot there again.

I would like to know the "new" Clinton policy with regard to national security, after all, they are the ones who ignored the Khobar Towers attack, the lst WTC attack, the attacks on US embassies in Africa and the attack on the USS Cole. Their "do nothing" policy emboldened the terrorists. Why didn't SHE, the smartest woman in the world recognize the growing threat of terrorism even if her husband did not. If they had done something then, we quite probably would not be involved in the war on terror. We need to know how she influenced her husband and why they were soft on national security. Is this why they won't release the records? They talked tough but did nothing. And, why is she still campaigning on the same old promise of giving us health care? She did this over 16 years ago and we still don't have it. She's asking us to trust her to deliver? How many children have died during the last 16 years waiting for the health card that Bill Clinton waved in the air and promised us we'd all have? Will she give up on health care like she did the first time? She didn't deliver change then and I don't trust her this time around. She is the incredible shrinking woman because she has done nothing. Bill Clinton doesn't give her credit for anything in his autobiography. I wonder why..........

to Sabor, ever looked at the Japanese government, you are not accepted as non-Japanese. Ever read about the Middle East on their treatment of Non-Muslim people in the court system. How about the other foreign countries on their treatment of people. Our North American governments give more opportunities to all societies coming here a place to trully meet and express their religions without fear of arrest or being bombed in the their places of worship. Take a look at Aftrica, just recently. A Christian church with two hundred people in there seeking safety set afire by guess who--- Muslims. In India, Hindu extremists attack Christian people, why because they are Christian.
But here in North America we provide all religions absolute freedom to gather and experience their faith. Even if we may disagree with their method we still provide a blanket of security to protect these people. But in the Old Country their brothers and sisters burn, and kill our Christian families without one word of foul from our protected shores. As a matter of fact little effort is being done to stop their old home country to atone for these attacks, but attack us here in North America.
Atomic Obama will not stand up for our values, he is already in capitulation for the actions of the ol' homeland.

As an african american woman i am deeply touched by the support for Mr. Obama. I am, however, concerned that Americans like messages over substance. Mr. Obama's campaign themes remind me of our current President's 2000 mantra. "I am a compassionate conservative....i wll a uniter, not a divider....i will reach across party lines....i am not an insider...." The voters liked Bush....he was affable, charming....and everyone wanted to have a beer with him." We listened and we lost. I implore Americans to listen to the candidates on the issues....or at least ask Mr. Obama "what change does he intend to bring about and how will he do it." Ask all the candidates....let us have the power of inquiry that we so failed to exercise in 2000.

I am also African American and this election has nothing to do about race so that statement does not make a difference. Since you do not listen to Obama, tell us what themes Clinton has that will help bring our country together. You know the problem is sometimes we are so closed minded that we are not willing to accept that change is good. He is a person that can unite the country and bring us back in a positive light with the world. Not all voters liked Bush and many did not believe when he said the things that he said. I feel that Obama is genuine. He did not have to run for president but he sees that this country needs change, something fresh, something new to bring us back up as a country that is united. In life people hate and resist change. I hope that you open your mind and look and see that this person can change the way we live for the better instead of us re living the past. We should never look backwards to progress we should always look forward.

After watching the democratic debate in NHampshire, I see that the wife of the former disgraced president doesn't know the meaning of the word "change". Barack Obama gets it and this is why he will be president. Mrs. Clinton claims we don't know who she is? Her problem is that we know her all too well and we don't like what we see. She has never answered what we want to know, she hasnt been vetted and the reason we hound her is because she doesn't answer the questions, truthfully or otherwise. Why does she drag her husband along with her....isn't SHE the candidate? I don't like her riding into town on his coattails. As for the 'changes' she claimed she's made, well, that's her JOB as an elected official. And, she sure has gotten paid handsomely. What other elected official has ended up with the millions upon millions the clintons have?

What fools the Liberals are, but more so the over zealous liberal media. What the heck has Atomic Obama said that transcends all intelligent thought that makes all things this made has announced going to happen. He hasn't described one thing he can do, not one thing. I don't like Hiliary Clinton but at least she has made some comments about leading government. Atomic Obama hasn't said one freakin thing that he can do. But Opra Ma Mouth has annointed this guy with no credibility. He is like trying to grab mercury. Nothing!

    • Posted By: Sabor @ 01/06/2008 12:53:02 PM

What intelligent though as the current President given us in the last 8 years? Yet, many of you support him.

  • Posted By: Sabor @ 01/06/2008 12:49:57 PM

After reading some of the comments, I can calmly say that the reason America is still viewed around the world has the home of the most hypocritical people in the world. As a Army veteran of 22 years I was send around the world and placed my life on the line the defend "Freedom, Democracy and Equality"., yet in America we still have people with a mindset that if a person is of color they are not capable of governing this country. We cannot and will not win the minds and hearts of people around the world if we persist on this mindset. Mr Obama will make a good President, but for people whom voted for the current President this is impossible. After the disaster and shameful governance of GW Bush, I personally believe that my neighbor's dog will anc could do a better job. Look at the current direction of our country both at home and abroad, if you like what you see you are truly nuts.

Democrats always have a buzzword, like "change" for instance. What that really means is change from capitalism to socialism, change from free markets to government controlled markets, change from Americaism to Marxism. Change isn't necessarily good, but is usually irreversible.

  • Posted By: Sabor @ 01/06/2008 12:42:24 PM

I was just reading some of the comments written and I must say that as a veteran of the military who fought for this country, I'm ashamed to hear the way people with a racist mind are talking of Mr Obama. This country is currently looked at by the world as the must hypocritical because of the existing racial non-sense that still shows its face any and everytime it can, yet, we send our young men and women around the world to sacrifice their lives for "democracy, freedom and equality". It is a shame. Mr Obama will make a better President than George Bush any day. Even my neighbor's dog will make a better President than GW Bush.

  • Posted By: Less1leg @ 01/06/2008 12:40:56 PM

Atomic Obama is like trying to pin down mercury. There is no substance to grab onto. The only people who follow this guy are the eternal capitulators. These are the same people who would sell out all of your good American values for the sake of being seen to look good in the eyes of Islamists, communists, and any other scumbag society out there. This man couldn't make a rightous decision if it struck him in the head. To make matters worse, the Oprah-Ma- Mouth the annointing one has decreed that this is the only person that could lead the United States and she has asserted the greater Liberal media to promote just him. Even Hiliary Clinton is getting the shaft now from the big L Liberal media. Atomic Obama doesn't get the same depth of questioning of his leadership. Please, I am ---no--- Hiliary Clinton fan, but at least she stands up for something that he voter can digest, and at least say no too. Atomic Obama hasn't said one thing, but barfed up old liberal baffel gab to deceive the voter, especially the ignorant lazy voter looking for something.
The ignorant lazy voter believes that someone else should pay for their good luck. Wouldn't you just love someone else always paying for government programs as long as you aren't the one paying for it out of your paycheck.
Just take a look at Atomic Obama's record on illegal immigrants, ---- I'm waiting--- still waiting, that's right nothing. He won't state his official stand, but tens of thousands of illegal immigrant will spill over into the southern United States overwhelming the entry level employment positions that young people need to get a foot started onto the employed world. The whole southern United States entity is coming apart by flooding Spanish demographics. When these Mexo-American's decide enough is enough the question of "separation" is going to come to the head just like the French Quebecois have been doing in eastern Canada.
What Atomic Obama will do is pave the way for separtist factions to develop, because Obama doesn't have a true affection to the American public.

I am concern about Obama because his plan and wish to our country is almost the same the way Pres. Bush plan when he is a Pres. candidate. I guess hillary clinton is better to be our president cause she already did good a lot to our country as a senator.Obama might end up just like Bush talking too much for plan and can't do it.

Are Americans really going to trust their children's future to a naive, irresponsible novice like Obama? He is nothing more than a totally unqualified, socialist, economic class warfare advocate who is wrapped in a phony social and charismatic image package that is designed to appeal to the willfully naive and the hopelessly clueless who embrace "change" for the sake of change with no consideration of the consequences? Fred Thompson would blow Obama out of the water in debates on substance which Obama has so far avoided in debates with his equally inept democrat opponents.

Obama's contrived charisma and change for the sake of change platitudes will only take him so far. He will lead the democrat's to a McGovern like defeat when serious Americans who care deeply about their children's future compare his empty rhetoric and limited experience with Fred Thompson's vast experience and sound programs for America's future.

Fred is the obvious choice as president for any responsible voter who cares about their kid's future and invests the time to understand the candidate's qualifications, and positions on the issues. The last thing America needs in a time of economic fragility at home and dangerous international circumstances are dangerous political neophytes like Obama and Huckabee.

Before all you mindless, adolescent change advocates vote for these two political charlatans you should remember the ageless adage that things are never so bad that they cannot get a lot worse. This would especially be the case if the Commander in Chief becomes a novice that will invite aggression from America's enemies, lose the Middle East oilfield's to radical Islam and wreck our fragile economy with radically higher oil prices after a retreat from Iraq, higher taxes, higher pork spending and socialist healthcare.

Fred Thompson is by far the most qualified to energize the general election turn out of the entire Republican party behind a responsible program of peace through strength, and prosperity through proven, conservative economic policies. He is the only credible choice for RESPONSIBLE CHANGE to address America's problems, and he would immediately command the respect of America's enemies as well as its friends. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!

If you want "positivity," quit reading biased snotrags like Newsweek and the rest of the major media. Their distorted view of America is what has poisoned our country. I can handle a Rush, Dowd, or Coulter et al because they admit upfront that they are voicing opinions. Newsweek, ABC, CBS, CNN et al claim to be objective while spewing bigoted bias - it's dispicable.

All this talk of Obama winning Independents. That is so ignorant. Republicans (in most states including Iowa) don't allow Independents to take part in their primary. So, it is impossible for any Republican primary to attract Independents. There is NO promise at the end of the day that these same people will still be behind Obama if he moves on to the the general election. This is the main reason that Republicans don't allow independents - they dilute the wishes of the party base. The Obama honeymoon will end soon and he will be properly vetted as the extreme Liberal that he is and the story will change.

I will cross over and vote for Obama in the Georgia primary. I wish I knew how many of me there are in the USA. I am sure it is a lot more than Queen Hillary expected. The worse that happens is we get an honest Democrat in the White House.

  • Posted By: bharvey @ 01/06/2008 10:20:14 AM

Hey 'real': Merely touting a word based on having been first lady in the white house and a dubious senate record that was complicit in inheriting one of the most disasterous foreign policy in the history of the U.S. and the world is "experience"?!?! Obama HAS experience, though not as much as Hillary, but at least he has made the right moves so far. Regarding his correct decision not to give the president a blank check for war, he didn't only vote against it, he has been a member of the senate foreign relations committee and specifically outlined and correctly predicted the disasterous consequences of a preemptive strike in Iraq.

For the life of me, I can't understand this vastly trumpeted "Hillary Hate" factor. She seems like a perfectly nice and very presentably lady to me, and very smart to boot. Why this irrational hatred of her?" And, from so many Democrats, why???
I watched both of last night???s New Hampshire debates. (This is the first time, this election season, that I had a chance to asses, for myself, in depth, all the candidates together without the distraction and interference of media hype and canned sound bites.) I listened intently to what each candidate had to say, and with an open a mind as possible, I tried to assess from the presentation each made the ???presidential??? qualities each possessed and therefrom determine which would be the best choice for America at this time in history.
Upon having seen the candidates??? presentation and performance in last night???s New Hampshire debates, I have become convinced that Hillary Clinton is the one. In my view, she is best able to do the job, bring the change most of us yearn for, and also tackle the challenges and issues that the next president will face will face. She is a proven commodity, she is smart, insightful, hard working and savvy, but also compassionate, and she presents a picture of being steady at the helm. She pointed out that being able to effectuate ???change??? is measured by action and not just pretty words (a needed comment/dig at the current Obamamania). She made profound observations about the war on terror, made sobering acknowledgments concerning the folly and continuing failure of our ill-conceived Iraq adventure. She was the first candidate to mention the state of the economy, even before the moderator, etc. . . I urge the New Hampshire Democrats to take a second look at Hillary because if they don???t, the Democratic Party may be swept up by the seductive siren???s call that Obama trumpets.
Because of the prime-time ABC broadcast, I, as we all, were able to hear and assess the Republican's message, too, last night. And, haveing also heard the Republicans, I much fear that the pretty sound of Barack Obama's call will be easily silenced when it comes up against the Republican reality check. Then there will be no change essential change of the status quo. The Democrats, the country and the world will have been robbed of their dream again.

Goldengirl....for your life we need someone who unlike you seem to perceive as honest to be honest . Read about Hillarys past and formative years. I don't know who I will be voting for. I know people who have worked foe Ms. Hillary and the woman is no Lady and as far as savvy and compassionate, let's say ....yes and no. I biggest challenge is the Middle East and a woman there is not much. Plus WHAT HAS SHE DONE????
