I think that ANY candidate with "normal" religious beliefs should have his religion left out of conversations. Religion should only be a topic if ti is relevant to the issues such as if a candidate were Muslim, Pagan or Occultist. I'm NOT a Mormon however I respect their values of family, decency and such.

The fact that even the Rep candidates attack him makes me think that maybe he IS the guy to change things up. If the defenders of the status quo have issues with him it sounds good to me.

Whoever gets elected better damn well be tough on border control, immigration and have a passion for stopping socialism. Besides a massive tax and spend mentality by by parties, the huge influx of hispanics seeking free medical care and government support WILL bankrupt this country. The government needs to cut taxes and cut spending by at least 40%. I don't care if the next President is Jehova's Witness just as long as he is not corrupt, not a Socialist/Communist and is VERY conservative.

When I look at men who are running to be the president of the united states, to lead and guide this country, and all I see is Romney sticking to issues, and his counterparts focusing on him, it is a symptom of fear on the part of Romney's rivals. There is so much misinformation about mormons and several of the "facts" about their beliefs that have been posted are untrue. And as for the ones that are, we are not focusing on all the facts. Whether the mormons believe in multiple wives or not, what I see is many men who are running who can???t even show loyalty to the one wife they have. It???s been shown in recent months there have been acts of infidelity on the parts of many of the candidates who now attack Romney for his beliefs. But what do their actions say about their beliefs? If they can???t even be loyal to their wives how can we expect loyalty towards us the American people. I've known Mormons all my life and as an ever learning man of many religions I can say that if Romney truly has any of the class, forthrightness, or determination that my Mormon friends do because of what their religion teaches them about the importance of having such characteristics, in other words if he really lives by the creeds of his religion, there will be no better candidate to be President!

The actual name of the Mormon church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." How could they be anything BUT Christians? Of COURSE they ARE Christians. They are some of the best Christians I know.

I, too, am from Massachusetts. I know that there are two sides to every story and let me give you Tim Cruz's side. He served a district attorney in Massachusetts. "To address the growing murder rate in the City of Boston ??? what Governor Romney termed an ???epidemic??? and a ???serious crisis??? ??? he offered to have State Police troopers assist Boston police officers with patrol duties. He provided an immediate influx of $700,000 in state aid to faith-based and community groups working to solve this problem by diverting young people away from activities that lead to violence, particularly gang membership. Governor Romney also stepped up efforts to crack down on gang violence throughout the commonwealth. He approved anti-gang measures for the City of Somerville in 2004, established an $11 million statewide gang prevention program in 2005, unwrapped $1.5 million in state anti-gang funds for Boston and Springfield in 2004, and also tackled the issue of witness intimidation to provide protection for those who possess critical information in gang-related cases.

Under Governor Romney???s leadership, the total number of State Police grew by nearly 200 Troopers from 2,333 members to 2,524 ??? the highest in the agency???s history. He also doubled the size of the State Crime Lab, championed ???Melanie???s Law,??? the toughest drunk driving law in the commonwealth???s history, and signed legislation to publish the most dangerous sex offenders??? photos and addresses on the Internet. Governor Romney worked to expand the definition of sexually dangerous persons to make it easier for prosecutors to file civil petitions to keep the worst sexual predators off of the street after their criminal sentences were concluded.

This year, as one of his proposals to protect our children, Governor Romney has called for a new ???One Strike, You???re Ours??? law. This crime initiative will impose new, tougher federal penalties for first-time offenders who use the Internet to sexually assault children, including stiff mandatory jail time to be followed by lifetime tracking by Global Positioning Satellite (GPS). As a prosecutor who pursues online sexual predators, I would certainly welcome these penalties. Governor Romney has pledged to work with computer companies to ensure that every home computer has an effective and easy-to-engage filter to prevent unwanted pornography from reaching our children. Governor Romney recognizes that we must take action now because as the Internet becomes more accessible, there is a real danger that computer crimes committed against children will continue to rise....Governor Romney should be rightly proud of his record in fighting crime and protecting the citizens of Massachusetts. It seems equally clear that he would bring this demonstrated commitment to being tough on crime to Washington to help protect all Americans."

First of all let's get the record straight. Mormons are NOT Christians. They are NOT part of the true bible believing church. Who in the world would anyone want a person to be the president that doesn't even acknowledge this simple fact? Most Mormon "missionaries" that come to your door will try to convince you that they are "Christians." Think about it. They are misleading the public. So Mr. Romney is no different!
He is not being truthful about the Mormon church not influencing him, and the power grab. This reveals the deception of Romney and this so-called christian religion. Mormonisim must not be in the position of power in the White House! This would be a disaster. We do not need a cult member as President.
I lived in a heavily Mormon area in North Eastern Arizona, and it is sickening to see the nepatisim, religious bigotry, and the way they "control" local politics. It is just sickening. It's time to speak up before it is too late!
It is strange how everyone is afraid to speak the truth in the "PC" culture without fear of repriasal!
It's time to speak out and make a stand. No Romney in the White House in 2008!

It's awfully difficult to "consistantly answered direct questions and did not interject garbage" when you are obviously being attacked by four other individuals. Hardly gives anyone an opportunity to form genuine thoughts and answers. Consider a time in your life when you felt like you were being bombarded, how quickly could you form an answer, even if you are trying to be accurate and truthful. Just something to think about.

I have been undecided through most of this process. I still can not say for sure who I will vote for in November but after the childish antics of Guliani, McCain and Huckabee of the debates I am leaning towards Romney. I felt he handled himself quite well under the attacks that were coming from all sides. I couldn't help but ownder why they all fear him so much.

It is not religion, gender, color, or age that should determine this next election. Thinking, educated Americans should avoid being caught up in the "mob psychology" of being sucked into campaigns touting smooth talking, charismatic personalities, but rather Americans should be looking for the one candidate who has the moral fiber, strength of character, leadership qualities, and abilitiy to work with the countries who dislike our values, etc. Being a Bush hater to garner the party nod should have nothing to do with the choice Americans are about to make. Further, I have watched every single debate for both parties and have noticed inconsistent statements by every candidate. So, if Romney is taking the heat as the "change" guy or the flip flopper, it is only because the people and the media are not paying attention to what the other candidates have said or are saying. All have spoken with forked tongues at some time! The greatest travesty is the manipulation of the "young" and new voters by a couple of the candidates. Imagine playing up to this group and seemingly elevating their importance to the political process in order to gain the nod of their parties. Ever been to a football game at a college? One group starts to chant and soon the whole stadium is chanting. Thus ---MOB PSYCHOLOGY---and thus the manner in which some of these candidates are attracting the numbers---etc. in the polls. THINK AMERICANS----Study, research, listen, and determine for yourselves the best candidate based upon actual facts rather than attack ads, hearsay, misinformation about one's faith, or being sucked in to participating because that's what everybody else is doing!!!

Isn't it interesting that during last nights debates only two candidates consistantly answered direct questions and did not interject garbage( Bill Richardson and Mike Huckabee). Think about that, if you will.

    Mr Maschek,
I noticed the Ph.D after your name. Apparently it was mailorder or BYU. What I said is absolutely true. I lived in Utah for 20 years. I have read the book of Mormon twice, The Doctrine and Covenant twice and the The Pearl of Great Price as well as The Book af Abraham once. I know several mormon bishops and many mormon people. I have also read the temple ceremonies pre and post 1991. All of your wishing and credential waving will not make the facts dissipate. My guess is you are actually LDS.

"Demoncraps" have historically always or almost always screwed us up, but they made us believe we are in heaven thanks to them, before the Clintos children in Junior High or Elementary did not endulge in having oral-anal sex, it was ONLY after the definition by our former president(B.C), that they feel authorized to. And the ball goes on entertaining all kinds of mis-behaviors ONLY because the people whe practices them votes for them...Human Dignity in exchange for Votes.

    • Posted By: don1234 @ 01/06/2008 3:06:26 PM

You have to be joking. The democrats caused children in school to have anal/oral sex? This is not a new invention. It's been going on for centuries before there were even democrats or republicans. Don't blame the politicians for children's behavior. Blame their parents for there parenting skills or lack of. Cheers!:)

Who's buisness is it anyways what peoples habbits are as long as they don't infringe upon others? My vote goes to a candidate who critically thinks and acts accordingly( Which leaves Guliani, Thompson, Romney, and Huck out). Most republican voters (not all) are arrogant and much like the statement you just made, are clueless to issues. The same can be said for few democrats as well. If people had half a thinking brain and turned off the TV they would vote for people like Nader, Gravel, or Paul.

The "Machine" "The Shadow Government", are the bigshots involved with: The "National Bank", "Federal Reserve", "IRS" (which is illegal, is one of their inventions) in other words they control the money, the same "Shadow Government" that Henry Jackson put in their place multiple years ago (I think he was the 7th Pres) and was able to balance the budget and save "We The People" because of it. They support NAFTA, "The Super Highway", "The North American Union", "New World Order", "and other stuff like "Open Borders" (they support the 3rd World Invasion from Mexico and elsewhere)", their "Globalists", where they are the rulers, instead of "The Constitution Of The United States"! The Constitution warns of such a takeover (forefathers were sharply aware of tyranny).
Ever wonder why your voting for the lessor of two evils? Ever wonder: "is this the only people that we have to choose from"? The "Shadow Government" controls both parties, hence, the lessor of two evils" is still evil. They get their way reguardless and "We The People" always lose piece by piece. They own the mainstream media (only like five people or five groups, organizations, billionaires) so they inform us what they want us to know. Stop bein' naive, their agenda is corrupt as hell! Their abolishing The United States as we know it, turning it into "The North American Union", like the "European Union". They control us, get it, no more "We The People"! You expect unbios truth from the mainstream media? Believe what ya want, I personally don't like being deceived!
Most, Demoncrats and Republicans are their puppets, tricksters, slickers and liars. Same old story, same old song and dance! The only thing that will change is the face!
Ron Paul is the only Republican that is not their puppet! Chances are "real slim" for him to be elected cause people are accustomed to bein' lied to and they accept it!

I'm not happy with the way McCain giggled to himself after taking nasty shots ar Romney. I don't want a president who acts so underhanded and revels in it.

It would be best to keep any Mormon doctrinal comments to that which is part of the canon. If we tested religions by what leaders have said in the past then every religion could be under fire. Stick to the canon for the LDS religion and we can have an intelligent conversation. Because Christ knew such meaningless debates would take place it was he who said "by their fruits ye shall know them." One need only observe most Mormons to know of their commitment to Christianity.

Utah per say is a Reblican State.

Many Mormons are commited to Christianity, as you say. Those who are happen to be very good people.

However, as with just about every religion, there are far to many Mormons worshipping only the almighty dollar. Some who fall into that category are already very rich and looking to get richer. Do you recall that that people of Utah voted down Two propositions to bring the Winter Olympics to Utah. Well thanks to those super rich Republican who wanted even more money than they already had, the Winter Olympics came to our state anyway. Quite a few of those super rich individuals that stood to benefit were and are elected officials on local, state and national levels and even (sadly) Mormon Church officials as well. There was much corruption getting the olympics here and back stabbing as well. Mitt Romney was brought in as an attempt to coverup the corruption and wrong doing. Now, please keep in mind, I am not accusing him of any wrong doing. What I would like to know is if he is such a good christian and an honorable man. Why did he come to Utah to chair an Olympic organizing effort for Olympic games which the majority of Utahns did not want here. We also had our taxes raised to pay for those Olympic games which benefited mainly the rich Republicans in high positions.

All these Republicans ganging up on Mitt Romney makes me wonder why. Romney must be really doing something good that causes this very obvious jealousy coming out of the other Republican nominees. What a shame!
