The kid writes a great speech. How wonderful to see such idealism in a young person. The GOP backer comments on this site have little to do with this article and a whole lot to do with spreading rumors and innuendo. I shudder to think how low they could go with their attacks.

In this video, Obama, who claims he has "no ties with Acorn" notwithstanding the $800,000 paid to an Acorn group during the primaries, is campaigning at a convention of Acorn and I believe two other Community Activist's organizations. Ask if he will be their ally if he becomes President and pledge to meet with leaders of Acorn and the others in his first year, Obama says, quote:

"Yes, but let me say that before I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda."

See and hear it for yourself. Obama promised that Acorn and a couple of other groups like it will setting his agenda if elected even before he is inaugurated:

Obama would be a scared wimp if he encountered a crises that involved an attack on the U.S. He would save his own ass by giving Bin Laden a Blow Job and tell him not to hurt him.

This kind of nonsense shows how weak you are, MegaDeath. I've got news for you, kids read these blogs, so PUT A SOCK IN IT.

Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team. They are developing a plan to push America back to the top. Who is responsible for McCain's planning? Americans would be shocked to find that Douglas Holtz-Eakin is the sole person responsible for planning McCain's policy for America's future. Holtz-Eakin is also McCain's economic advisor, filling two full time positions on McCain's team. How can one single man (an economist) be responsible for developing a viable technology plan for our future? Obama has an enormous pool of the most intelligent, talented men and women in America working for him. Soon, they will be working for US.

And let's not forget that the McCain campaign spent more on Palin's makeup artist than it did on it's foreign policy advisor. When you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your PRIORITIES.

You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.

classy, megadeath, and so well composed. Are you expecting your Pulitzer anytime soon?
Seriously, posts like yours only serve to strengthen the opinion and resolve of every single person on the opposite end of the idealogical spectrum. You could TRY not to be such a stereotype...Mybe offer up a well considered and thoughtfully constructed piece that supports your argument. Instead, you devolve into name-calling, profanity, and homophobic bile (and not very good name-calling, profanity, and homophobic bile at that)
But thats OK, because I have come to understand that you and your ilk are simply trying to echo the venomous partisan chaff that you hear on A.M., but unfortunately your limited wit and childish rhetorical skill just will not allow you to reproduce such tripe effectively.
So, by all means, continue to spew your schwill and prove me right...I like being correct after after all.
Or maybe next time type with your head and actually add something to the discourse.

    end diatribe now

    Time FOR SOME STRAIGHT TALK!!
Okay, I'm a Republican by ideology. In fact, I???m a rare breed of Republican ??? I???m highly educated, smart, insightful, successful and very cultured.
I???m QUESTIONING that out of all great GOP leaders in our party, the BEST CHOICE was McCain ? And Palin?
McCain is an OLD fool that does not seem to be in his right mind. McCain cannot even keep his own set of lies straight, or even seem to know where or what he is doing at present !
And for his judgment, just one word ??? Palin!
    Come on, Palin !
Palin is a train wreck; SPIN any which way you want she is a HUGH mistake!
Palin is an embarrassment to professional women, the state of Alaska, the GOP and to America.
Is this the BEST my party can do?
WHO EVER is running the show at the GOP, needs his/her head examined?
AND FOR THE RECORD G.W.Bush is much more qualified to be president than McCain or Palin !
Bush was just a little stupid, and that???s not a crime in America, because if being stupid was a crime then 93% of people in America should be locked up !
One final word, I cannot believe that the GOP has become so BADLY misguided that the ONLY SUPPORTERS we really have are the WACKOS and FREAKS !
Only a couple of years ago, those were the types of people we called Democrats, and NOW there are Republicans ??? the losers of society !
Colin Powell, my apologies, I was anger at you, but NOW I understand you !

Its funny, the rhetoric of politics, speechwriting and such.
Its finding what is real to connect with we Americans. There are thousands of great stories, metaphors and experiences that i have read on blogs and threads.

Real things, real shared experience. Politicians have to listen and learn- there they will find the strong benevolent heart of America. Being egocentric is dark palce to be! Ask Geroge "W!"

Wait a minute...what rights do welfare recipients need protected as they are being moved into work?
I thought that was the idea...to move them into work.
Why would Sen. Obama want to slow that process down?

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 10/27/2008 1:11:48 PM

Well, lori, there's the little matter of health care. The head of a family who is in a work training program has access to Medicaid for his or her family. Once that person moves off the welfare rolls into a permanent job, she usually will not qualify for Medicaid and it is unlikely that an entry level, usually minimum wage job will offer afforadable health benefits. So this person would join the uninsured, and most likely, so will her children since Republicans, including John McCain, have balked at extending state programs to insure children in low-income families. There is also the matter of child care. Again, a person in a work training program is usually offered free or substidized child care. Once that person is in a permanent job, that benefit disappears. But the children are still there and they still need care. For a mother with two children, the fees for two children in daycare would eat up most of her wages. Now some states have programs for school-aged children for care before and after school with fees based on a sliding scale. But that doesn't help for younger children, and it doesn't help women who work shifts that are not concurrent with the school day- like nurse's aides who work 3 p.m.-11p m. or 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.. (Some mothers chose that last shfit and leave their children alone and sleeping. It works out unless there is a tragedy, like a fire. Then people blame the mother for leaving the children alone.) So -- moving from welfare to work is not always a simple matter of just finding a job. Even though most people would prefer to work that to receive welfare benefits, services available to very low income people sometimes make that extremely difficult, if not impossible.

I wanted to ask if you have any intention to spin the "Maverick" slogan of John McCane against him? It seems pretty easy to do. By explaining to the public that the alkaida group is not soley battling the U.S., but rather the philosophies of the Western World as a whole, it is important to remember that the U.S. needs to battle the terrorists with the help of all of its allies. We are not in this alone. We can not afford to be in this alone. Remember that since 9-11, Alkaida has bombed locations in England, Spain, France, etc. I understand how you (the public) could be swayed into believing that a president that is a "Maverick" could be a good change for the United States, however, in reality it will prove to be disasterous when dealing with the war on terror. You see, to fight Alkida, it is imperative that we work in unison with all of our allies. The more nations we have on our side, the more eyes we have on the world, the more finances we have available, and the more military we have to call on in our time of need. Having a "Maverick" as our President means that on one hand, he will not listen to the "pork bellied bureaucrats" up on capital hill, but on the other hand, he will not listen to our allies when dealing with the war on terror. This will prove to become a major hole in our national security over the next 4 years if a "Maverick" is elected to the presidency.

If Obama writes his own speech, then he is clearly a liar, cheater, and an opportunist. I had a very high regards for Obama until he made the Selma speech (totally fictional story about his parents in Selma) and even worst when he used someone else speech. Judge for yourself.....

I have been searchin to find out where Obama people came up with their slogan: CHANGE WE CAN. After watching the movie EVAN ALLMIGHTY, I found out that a similar slogan, CHANGE THE WORLD was also used by the main character of the movie whose a junior state senator. The movie production started on january 2006 , released on June 2007 and Morgan Freeman whose a black actor played the roll of GOD. Just about at that time Obama people came up with their slogan. Dont you think these are amazing similarities?

  • Posted By: dragon20 @ 08/28/2008 10:13:05 AM

I have been searching to find out where Mr Obama got the idea of including THE CHANGE in his speeches. Finally I came with an answer after seeing the movie EVAN ALLMIGHTY. Well its true that THE CHANGE THE WORLD slogan was first used in this movie in which the black actor Morgan Freeman also had a role as god. The movie production began January of 2006, and released June of 2007, and the similarities between the movie`s character (a junior senator) and Obama is so amazing. Just about at that time Obama camp came up with the CHANGE WE BELIEVE IN and CHANGE WE CAN slogans. Therefore its easy to say, the slogan was stolen from the movie not a creation of Obama people.

I took a minute to locate an article on his welfare project. It's a bit more complex than just moving someone from "welfare to work." That entire process is much more convoluted and mis-managed than people think. I support it 100% - I just don't support how it is being implemented (ie the Dept of Welfare is putting up a alot of unnessary hurdles to people getting the traning they need to move into jobs.)

Bill Clinton: "They said I was Too Young & In-Experienced"

    Source: www.thehuffingtonpost.com

They also said this about 43 Yr. Old John F.Kennedy & Jimmy Carter...Barack is age (47)

They said Ronald Wilson Reagan, was Too Old and Too In-Experienced and that Running a State is not the same as aRunning 50 States.

My fellow Democrats, sixteen years ago, you gave me the profound honor to lead our party to victory and to lead our nation to a new era of peace and broadly shared prosperity.

Note: Together, we prevailed in a campaign in which the Republicans said "I was Too Young and Too Inexperienced to be Commander-in-Chief"...

Sound Familiar ? "It didn't work in 1992, because we were on the right side of history. And it won't work in 2008, because Barack Obama is on the right side of history"

His life is a 21st Century incarnation of the American Dream.

His achievements are proof of our continuing progress toward the "more perfect union" of our founders' dreams. The values of freedom and equal opportunity which have given him his historic chance will drive him as president to give all Americans, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability, their chance to build a decent life, and to show our humanity, as well as our strength, to the world.

We see that humanity, that strength, and our future in Barack and Michelle Obama and their beautiful children. We see them reinforced by the partnership with Joe Biden, his wife Jill, a dedicated teacher, and their family.

Barack Obama will lead us away from division and fear of the last eight years back to unity and hope. If, like me, you still believe America must always be a place called Hope, then join Hillary, Chelsea and me in making Senator Barack Obama the next President of the United States.
