Comment: I don't think that Mrs. Hillary Clinton is emotionally strong enough to be president. The pressure is too much for her. I think the honorable thing for her to do now is to simply step aside.
A Muskie moment, or a helpful glimpse of 'the real Hillary'?
Comment: I don't think that Mrs. Hillary Clinton is emotionally strong enough to be president. The pressure is too much for her. I think the honorable thing for her to do now is to simply step aside.
Comment: Thanks JustmeinArk for your rational comments. I'm an Independent campaigning for Hillary because I've researched the candidates background. While Obama has a great message, it's fairly empty (or incremental, read MSNBC.com articles!). I don't so much judge folks on what they say, but more on what they've done. Hillary has been a great service to America, her head and heart is in the right place. Onto a a personal note...As a feminist, I truly respect this woman to have return to Bill after her desvasting, international humiliation. Forgiving and transcending are qualities a few of us have, and I surmise this impression after reading some rather surface comments below. How do people know she's phony, or anti-feminist? I love folks that make extremely negative comments with no evidence to back them up. That's not reason or rationale. It's called "unfounded opinion." This negativity fuel my interest in Hillary in the first place. Ha!
Comment: Comment: Comment: Part of the "Experience Factor" that is often used as HRC's buzzward comes down to whether or not Obama has skin strong enough to withstand the pressure he's going to face once he takes the seat in the White House. Clinton saw what the Crazy Right Wingers did to her husband and her as they attempted to smear them in every way possible, failing always until Bill unzipped his pants. They went thru hell and still managed to lead this country thru one of it's most successful eras, despite the sex scandals.
Can anyone seriously sit back and say Obama will be able to take that kind of heat in the kitchen??? He's absolutely wonderful as a speaker and he genuinely seems to have a family who cares deeply about him. He definitely has characteristics you want your president to have or any leader for that matter. But when America's love affair and honeymoon with him are over, and the country attempts to pull itself out of the economic mess it currently is in, what exactly is he going to CHANGE? And how will that offset the millions of disgruntled Americans who still remain out of work with no health insurance.
Comment: Comment: As I read each comment posted regarding Senator Clinton and Obama, I am utterly astounded at the number of cynical People living in the U.S.
This is not a black or white, man or woman issue. The issue is Who is more qualified to lead this Country. I read some comments accusing Mrs. Clinton of being too emotional and weak to lead this Country. This Woman is by no means weak! This Woman has many accomplishments, as well as experiences to back Her credentials. She is no stranger to the American People, and her values and strengths have remained strong in the eye of a storm many times past. She has remained and stuck to obligations when most Women would have took to the door. She knows what it is like to face adversity, disgrace, slander, and every type of scrutiny imaginable and still stand. Yes, Hillary Clinton is strong.
And, the comments posted referring to former President Bill Clinton as " slick Willie " is absurb! Are You the same People that want a leader ( Obama ), that has half naked dancing women promoting Him on National television?? So, what is his character?? His experience?? His values?? So, he can talk good, but what is the fruits of his labor and the track record of his accomplishments?
This country needs a strong leader that has the experience, credentials of past victories, and a sincere heart for the American People. I believe Hillary Clinton has proved that already.
Comment: You hit the nail right square on the head Justin!
Comment: Hillary lost alot of women supporters because she stayed with Bill even after he cheated on her with Monica Lewinsky. These feminazis had every right to feel betrayed. She should have left him in the dust and struck out on her own. By her staying with him after the Lewinsky scandal she sent the message that she couldn't make it without her husband; anti-feminism to a tee.
Comment: Obviously Hillary loved Bill enough to forgive him and stand by him. Her motives are personal.
Comment: I am not surprised by what happened in N.H. I think she was thinking of some unfortunate occurences of her life to bring out that emotion--it is the new logic of campaign. For the women soeasily deceived, I don't see them that different from her--at least as a woman

Comment: I am appalled to think that the Clinton machine would stoop so low as to use Hollywood type, tactical, self serving crocodile tears to sway the feminine gender to her side, but then it is the self-anointed, high and holy, above all reproach, self -pedestalized Clintons displaying themselves at their best. Anything for a vote!!
If anyone has on record proof of some rightful, appropriate use of political tears by Golda Mier, Margaret Thatcher, Indira Ghandi, etc., etc. I will diminish the magnitude of my unprecedented contempt for this below the belt maneuver, for which no political gentleman dare strike back.
Can you picture Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warmiy stroking Hillary's back at a future American/Iranian "Summit"
and saying "OK, Hillary your tears are quite convincing, we'll do it your way."?

Comment: Obama is definitely a smooth talker with a lot of charisma, but that don't rock the baby late at night!
Comment: Come on AMERICA! Clinton???s tactic is tasteless and plagiarized. Clinton has seemed to manipulate the viewers once again with her irrefutable need to contradict Obama???s message. Candidate Edwards clearly expressed comparable passion, in fact more on the state of America at the NH debate, however we hear nothing of the genuineness of Edward???s plea for change. Obama and Edward both have had their own voice from the start, yet Clinton just discovers hers after several debates and a caucus? Clinton has not been the Nation???s candidate, and women need to see that women???s rights are not what unify America, nor does dividing parties for political gain exemplify the best candidate. It???s time to wake up America and recognize the snake in the grass, a wolf in sheep???s clothing and a manipulator among the most ???experience???. We need a change, and Clinton???s tactic is not becoming of her to conjure negative publicity towards candidates for her own personal gain. Wake up America!
Comment: Could Hillary be getting emotional because she didn't get the chance to clow the doors on Obamas religon? Befor anyone bashes me on this look into it. Obama belongs to one of the biggest racial hatred religous groups in the US. While Hillary woo's many with this (act)"IMO" here is another interesting question. Hillary won the first election. Now, does it bother anyone that every pole in the world practically had her beat by double digets? If this were strictly a vote between lets say Hillary and Mitt and say Hillary had the polls saying the exact same thing that she was ahead of Romney by double digets and Romney cam out the victor what would many say? Would we dare hear another Bush scam? Would many point out that the elecetion was rigged? Why was Bill overheard 2 days before the NH election as saying" we dont have to worry about NH, we already have it in the bag regaurdless of what you hear?" Now, many of you are probebly ready to lock me up and throw away they key in your(how dare you) reaction. Truth is, you would be shocked on who am I going to vote for if he/she gets the ticket for there party. This is to make us think and to question what we are so fast to point the fingure to. Democrats have been branded as the fare left for a reason but to regain what a true democrat is we have to be open and evaluate every senerio and not keep it one sided as many do today. Obama belongs to Trinity United Church of Christ who happens to be responsable for what they call (The Balck Value System) wich is a racial hate motivated theology. You can google this for the info on it. As to the Bill Clinton quote? well, unless you can record public radio you will never hear this again I can almost promise you on it yet millions of people heard this and failed to pick it up. Do not let the falsness of emotions fool anyone on Hillary. Remeber the Clinton machine has many of cards in there deck and this is but a face card with a low number on it. When the Clintons start to pull out there 10's and higher, emotion from Hillary will shine true and her heart felt burden will expose her true nature for what she really is.
Comment: I don't think the crying is so wrong. I mean the subjects she mention woudl make anyone cry, there's lots to be reversed and fixed. A real reaction by a human (man or woman) should not be a negative thing.
Here's a good article from DailyCents.com that keeps the discussion moving:

Comment: To eddiewhere..I agree with Your Girlfriend!! Obama definitly has elegance in speech, and maybe even sincere motives but Hillary has the experience and a proven track record . GO HILLARY!!!!
Comment: Race had nothing to do with this. Edwards was not a factor and older women with kids voted for Hillary. THe media is always wrong. Other than that Obama still earned the same numbers he did in Iowa. Obama barely lost.
Comment: congratulations to Hillary Clinton you proved you are a fighter. She cried, and I think that change eveything. I think the older women especially those with kids came out for Hillary and showed us that they are in charge of the House in New Hampshire HouseHold. I think Hillary Clinton really has been humbled and seems to appreciate her second chance. Obama will stress that winning is the easy part and getting things done once you get into power is the challenge. Obama was the underdog and he needs to keep that persona. He still has the nomination. I think Hillary has found herself. How Hillary got her grove back.
My girlfriend told me that I would be wrong and she was right.
Comment: One thing I do not understand, what makes an actor or actress an expertise in knowing who the " best " future President should be?? They are artist who make a living entertaining, which I respect and enjoy but they are not professional consultants in this area. This is not Hollywood and the leader of Our Country should be weighed very carefully. Our Country depends upon it. Don't listen to a movie star or any One for such an important decision as this. You take charge of your freedom, do Your research and vote for Who You believe can handle the job. It is your right and privilege!!
Comment: I am amazed at some of the comments here. I know some of you are not old enough to really remember life before Bush, but Clinton was really good for us. Now don't go ballistic, I know about Monica. We live in an age where the media controls and watches our lives. Bill Clinton was great for the economy, for the poor, for the middle class, for our relationship with the world. He was not the first nor probably the last that will cheat on his spouse. You really should applaud Hillary's perseverance during the last years of President Clinton's presidency. She stood by him for her daughter, for herself, and for her country. Of course everyone says she wasn't president so that has no bearing on her run for President, but she witnessed history and everything the President had to do. Since she is so intelligent, she would have learned from all of it. She has been in the Senate 8 years compared to Obama's 2 years and was reelected by the people of New York for her second term. I am not saying Obama is not an intellectual and a very likeable man, but he does not have the experience to run this troubled nation. I found it interesting that he voted against using English as the official language of the United States. He has not given substantive answers to what he will do if elected. Hillary is the only choice for President unless you want 4 more years of Republican reign. Please check out Obama before wasting your vote for a freshman Senator. Hillary is the real deal.
Comment: I have heard that the economic condition of the country under a president is the direct result of the economic policies of the previous administration. It takes 8-10 years for policies to effect the economy--Well if that is true this Country is in a mess of a shape at present and I believe the past seven years have been the Bush administration not the Clinton's. The Clinton administration has done great things for this country in the face of many obsticles, and believe that Hillary Clinton is more than capable to lead this Country in even more victories. I totally support Her, and will vote!

Quit whining....you're probably a bush hater who has said worse thing about bush or other politicians...sounds like you can't stand the heat along with your gal Hillary....buck up and realize politics is a very rough business and it's not for the light of heart....if you want to get warm and fuzzy....join Hallmark or a convent My response to whomever you are is the problem is I am not whining, nor am I a Bush basher, nor am I a HRC fan. I probably know more about politics to sink your ignorant comments. I am not even going to go there. Bottom line, show your support for our great United States by voting. This upcoming election is probably the most important election that is taking place over the last 50 years. Our country has problems now that may take a generation to correct if we don't jump quickly. Wake up and vote period. May there be everlasting peace... God Bless America....

None of the candidates (including HRC) are going to turn this mess around in less than 4 years, so will he be able to withstand the pressures of the Oval Office in years 2 to 4 to remain effective, inspirational? I'm not convinced he can maintain his composure that long because when the road gets tough, every sidelined Republican is going to be screaming that the entire mess is due to his lack of experience. Do Americans want that kind of change??? One where the greed of many right-wingers once again resume power because our beloved Obama fails to deliver the goods fast enough?
Comment: Comment: Hillary has made change and will continue to make change. It saddens me that Hillary has been subject to all the negativity that surrounds the Bush Administration. She has pulled through despite the critics and Republicans for quite some time, yet she is still being considered as part of the status quo. What will Obama do besides talk about change?? What has he done as a senator to prove he can do the job. Yes he is likeable and yes he says the things in the right way, but generation X needs to look into the candidates work in order see who can lead this country. Talking about and being about are two different things. Certain republican networks are routing for Obama. Why is that? This should raise a red flag! This is a set up by the republicans to kick Hillary out of the race!!! Why? Because they know Obama will not be able to specifically say what he can do to "change" this country. Their is a serious mess that needs to be cleaned up and we need someone who knows how to get it done, not just wants to get it done. What are Obama's plan and exactly how will he implement them for "CHANGE"?? Thanks peers in Iowa and soon New Hampshire for voting based on likeability and rhetoric instead of facts and reality. I see Hillary giving up, but we need her to stay strong. GO HILLARY GO!!!
Comment: Bill's rant today, Hillary's tears yesterday....two more nails in the coffin of the Hillary for President thingy going on. GO BARRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment: Hillary in tears one day, Bill fuming about the campaign bein a Mickey Mouse operation...these two dummies brought this on themselves. They are both so full of themselves they thought that the nomination was going to be a walk in the park and now that they've found out otherwise, they're sour grapes. They lied, cheated and connived for eight years. Do they really think that we want to see another Clinton in office? This country is fare more ready for a black president than a WOMAN LIKE HILLARY president. Ann Richards would have been a perfect first woman president, but alas she was taken from us early by the BIG C>
Comment: What Americans need to understand is that there are probably millions of people in this world and even in this country that care, and that want nothing but the best for the people, and who want to see some change for the better. There are many people who can talk about it, and make it seem so easy, but there are not many people who can actually get it done.
People want to vote for people because they like their name, or because of race, religion, sex, or what they did when they were younger. NONE OF THAT CRAP MATTERS. This election is more important than just your personal opinions. Nobody understands that anymore due to our poor educational system. We need to elect the person who is right for the job. We should hold elections based on audio speaches only with masked voices. That way people will not be overcome by their ignorance and inablity to make the right decision over one that may benefit themselves without consideration of what is right for everyone as a whole.
Hillary is human and all humans cry and feel emotion, but the fact that she is showing this emotion is a sign that she is buckling under pressure. Nobody (nobody intelligent anyways) is really saying that she is weak because she cries, they are saying that because she is showing signs of severe stress just over the campaigning, she is probably not a strong enough person to lead this country.
You ignorant man hating femenists need to back off with your "men are pigs, we need a woman president" bull crap, and men who actually are pigs need to back the hell off with your "women are weak" crap because that is not what it is all about. It is about finding the right PERSON for the job and in this case it is not Hillary. Take your emotions and personal agendas and stick them in your asses because we are in need of some serious help as a country and until we can all get it together, it is not going to matter who our president is.
Comment: The Clintons strength has always been their ability to "REINVENT" themselves. Most notably, after the ninety four congressional elections. They lost that election to a movement, led by Gingrich. What did they do to counter this movement, they made life better for the average American.
Hillary needs to reinvent herself as the candidate for the future. She needs to stop talking about the ninety's and start telling the people about her current proposals. Is Hillary's plan going to keep the American people safe. Is her "MIDDLE CLASS" tax cut going to be "BIGGER THAN OBAMA"S? , CAN HILLARY"S plan bring factions together for the common good more effectively than OBAMA's plan for the future.Somehow you have to convince voters, that your plan for a "prosperous and peaceful" future for AMerica is "STRONGER" than OBAMA"S. You have to stick to this message. What was once the Clinton's greatest strength, in now a big WEAKNESS. "REINVENTION". REINVENTION, is one of the principles that have been rejected by voters. They do not want you to keep changing yourself. They want someone who is genuine and who does not change every week. It makes people feel comfortable. In this case Hillary has no choice but to reinvent her message and plans for the future.
What HILLARY SHOULDN'T DO,
Hillary has to avoid going negative. She should attack her opponents with her plan and not with her ego. For example she laughed at Obama and dismissed his campaign as "JUST WORDS". What she failed to realize is that his words have inspired a nation. This made her look mean and arrogant. Hillary do not be afraid of rejection.
Emphasize that your plan for the future is stronger and how it is going to improve the live of miniorities. You need to launch your new plan like a "blitzkrieg". Keep your message positive expecially in California and NEW YORK, the two states you must win.
Do not play the race card= it is a lazy way out for a hard working individual. Be honest. If you use race you will be forced to lie. Remember that the masses can see through mirages. Do not use them anymore.

Extra Tips for the Hillary camp
Getting the young vote does not mean replacing Albright with young people at your campaign rallies. However it is a start. You need to inspire them not lecture them. You need to show them how your plan affect their lives. Your plan for the future is key to your comeback.
Bill you need to make sure your wife is stress free and that she is surrounded by positive ideas. Improve her mood. I recommend Hillary do Yoga to make sure her mind is clear and in good shape for her campaign. She should eat a lot of spinach, broccoli and other very healthy foods. I am not saying that she has to be "happy go lucky" I am saying that she has to put herself in a position to compete.
She should not be thinking of the consequences and destiny. She must concentrate on the moment. And every moment should be positive and productive. No matter how mad you get do not show it. You do not have to be tough you just need to be at peace with your actions.
Hillary you are a great person with many gifts. Even if you do not win, the democratic party needs you and a lot of them have voted for you. Do not pull a IOWA. Hopefully you will not be bitter and support OBAMA to the fullest win he wins. He will definetly need your advice, and I am sure he will give you a cabinet position if you wanted it. Good LUCK Your friend from the OBAMA MOVEMENT.
This movement is not a fairytale, it is real and hopefully Bill Clinton will help this movement take the presidency after FEB. Fifth.
Comment: Ugh. First people complained that Hillary was "cold" then she shows some emotion and is labelled a crybaby. These people have chosen to attack and despise her no matter what, SHe could do the exact opposite of what she's doing (or anything in the middle) and they'd STILL attack her. (BTW I did go back and listen to that speech and yes, her voice broke a little and she may have welled up a bit but she did not turn into a bawling baby or whatever crap people are saying). This instance has been played up to the point of absurdity. None of these people have told me why they disagree on her handling of any issues, or her qualifications, or what kind of president she'd be. After researching all the candidates and their viewpoints and plans and experience, I think she's the most qualified candidate. It sounds very cliche to say that these men just can't handle the thought of a woman being the best person for the job but as of yet I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary. Then we've got women who don't support her because they're scared that people would say "you just support her because she's a woman". Go Hillary! You've got my vote.
Comment: Hillary's "yes" men have been complaining that she was being picked on by the other candidates, she breaks into tears, Bill fumes, the caucus and the first primary were too close together. They are the ones who decided to annoucne Hillary's candicy far too early. As a registered voter, I'm sick of the campaign alread and we still have almost 10 months to go before election. I thjink that we need laws that they can't announce before December 1 prior to the election....no wonder there is occasionally voter apathy...the candidates that are in a big rush bore the voters to death before election day arrives. You'd think that the Clinton's were new to the political scene because they are acting like a couple of Arkansas hillbillies who have NEVER been to the city before.

Comment: I don't buy the "moment". Just the night before Clinton attacked when both Obama and Edwards said their candidacy run was personal. Yes she teared-up (according to the video) but that could have been exhaustion or acting. Acting because not 2-3 seconds later her face cleared and she was spouting how "personal" this was. I think her staff educated her on how she came across at that point in the debate and how defensively shrill she was at another point and how she played the "I'm hurt" card, even if she thought it was for laughes. Although I'd like to see a woman in the white house, Hillary would need to give me some definite plans for the issues to get past having Bill back in the Whitehouse. I was still on the fence about some of the candidates but I'm definitely leaning toward some more than others. I'd be interested in knowing how far apart Obama and Edwards are-that may be a ticket I'd like to see. Although Edwards lost my vote last time when he teamed with Kerry. I didn't like Kerry. Just to clarify, I think of myself as an independent Republican. I vote for the person/issues not the party.
Comment: I won't go as far as to say she was faking the tear but I do believe she allowed herself to get emotional, which in and of itself does not bother me. ALL politicians use there emotions to underscore the message they are trying to convey. How many times have we seen a candidate get 'angry' in a speech. Is it real angry, probably partially, but I believe acting is also involved as well.
My problem with Hilary getting 'teary' is that I don't believe it was her best move politically. I think that some men feel that the problem with a women president is that they'll be too emotional. When things get tough, they'll cry and not think clearly. This episode is only going to further that point of view. If Hilary can't handle the stress of campaigning how is she going to handle the rigors of president.

Comment: Remember when Jesse the "Body" Ventura won in Minnesota. I think that is the first time that the media realized that voter's have a mind of their own. What people do not understand is that Obama represents a movement. They like him. Voters like Regan, they did not care about what the media said, they just liked the man. Obama has something the other politicians do not have. And it is that something that will bring victory to Obama. political pundits with their phd's don't get it. If Americans do not like you, they are not going to vote for you. Although a lot of people like Clinton many other do not , for reasons that i think are frivilous. However these are the facts. Did Regan have more experience than Carter in the eighties. No. Regan just had a likeability factor that is beyond an analyst's realm. You either have it or you don't. Obama has it
Comment: And Hillary does not.

Comment: Hillary Clinton needs to get Albright out of sight. It looks silly to say you want change and then have Albright over your shoulder. Also, you have one week. YOu have no chance until FEBRuary FIFTH. SO start talking their talk from now.
You tried to hard in Iowa. You were reactionary. Forget want these nerds are telling you and just tell us what you can do. Those are your strengths Hillary you strong heart, determination. However, your ego has left you in an embarassing situation, again. THis is not good. Your advisor's will tell you to play the race card. Hey it got O.J. OFF.
However in this case you need courage, you need to show your courage. What are you going to do tomorrow. Talking about yesteryear will get you third place everytime. Talk about yourself and all the qualities you possess, forget about what you opponents are doing and concentrate on the people. As you can see the media will turn on you in a second. Good luck.Edwards just takes too many votes away from Hillary and vice versa. Obama won by one per cent in Iowa among democrats. This is a very significant statistic because OBAMA has tapped into a new base which Hillary and Edwards are strangers too. Their experience actually works against them, especially their voting record. New Hampshire is the land of independents and will go OBAMA's way. Hillary needs to start preparing for New York and California. If she loses either one she has no chance. Even the stars of today are with the OBAMA movement. She has lost the women vote, so she needs to focus on the minority vote ie. immigration and a plan for the poor. Everyone knows she is strong on Health Care, so she should emphasize other NEW ISSUES. AN issue that would inspire the middle class.. A middle class plan that spromises a bright future. No one wants to here what she has done they want to hear what she is going to do. Going negative has distracted her from her..
The war on Iraq really hurts Hillary. She needs to be specific on that issue. What will she do and why can she do it faster than any other candidate. These are the types of things OBAma has already been talking about but it is a broad range of topics. Hillary needs to look presedential. She needs to hold fewer events with larger crowds. Waves. A small wave can turn into a big wave in a hurry.

Comment: "There are hints that Obama in a general election campaign would be ill-equipped to withstand the inevitable GOP barrage of attacks on his admitted past drug use, his left-of-center record, and his exotic ethnic background." These are very, very weak arguments.
THESE ARGUMENTS WILL NOT BRING HILLARY VICTORY. OBAMA represents a movement that is positive. The Hillary camp needs to keep their gloves on and open their minds to reality. Americans do not like your style of politics. . If the American people do not like you, they will not vote for you. They just don't get it. These are the issues Hillary needs to address, security. foreign policy, and the middle class. Handling GOP attacks is nothing for OBAMA. If you CAN HANDLE HILLARY YOU CAN HANDLE ANYBODY.
THE HILLARY CAMP is in denial. They need to listen to the PeoPle. Look how the HILLARY CAMP Have already began talking negative about Iowans. THE HiLLARY CAMp TURNED ON IOWANS.Trying to insinuate that they rarely Pick a President. Iowans are smart and never trusted the Clinton CamP that is why she came in Third. After all the TIME AND MONEY they spent in Iowa, the Hillary camp is now denying the importance ot the IOWA. They should been more humble and thank IOWA for teaching them their first lesson in the new .politics of change. Although the MESSAGE was sent loud and clear, The Hillary Camp did not hear it. They have insulted every Iowan that voted for them with those comments. This is the divisivness that democrats are tired off. There is a lot of bitterness in the Hillary camP, they refuse to recognize the movement behind OBAMA. They should embrace it. If Hillary had a good relationship with Al GORE WHY has he not endorsed her. If your own former vice president does not endorse you, that means you have "relationship" issues. Obama has not flip flopped, he has run a focus and postive campaign. He does not keep flipping the script. His speech was from the HEART In Iowa and Americans believe him. Hillary's camp does not understand that people want a new kind of politics. Her tactics might have worked in the ninety's but it does not work now. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT OBAMA WILL BE THE NEXT president.
Comment: Actually, I found myself doubting the whole moment. Maybe it was exhaustion on Clinton's part for the emotion. Because only a few seconds later she was saying the same thing as Obama and Edwards did in the debate, "This is personal." A statement that she had decried the night before, saying it didn't matter if it was personal, etc. It was political. I'm not totally buying the moment-I think her staff made her realize how it came across when she attacked the "personal" statement the night before and the question gave her a good lead-in.
Comment: JESUS. people please educate yourselves.
it seems the clinton's talk about fairy tale politics that they claim obama is preaching greatly overshadows the policy decisions that obama has actually been developing for quite a while now.
hillary's camp keeps saying that all obama speaks about is "change change change" and that he is inexperienced in foreign policy. go watch the debates and interviews especially with russert. he's made clear distinctions on health care, yet clinton continues to mischaracterize it as misleading. if you want to see the "judgment" he always talks about, watch this interview with charlie rose and three foreign relations experts who all have praised barack for a distinctly nuanced and broader approach to the problem of al-qaeda, pakistan and iraq:

Comment: Hillary has a long public history of calculated, precise and careful statements. She has never shown any breakdown in demeanor or discussion. Her anger is fine tuned when needed and her delivery is always right on point. This "emotional" display in a room of women supporters, at the last minute before a crutial vote could be nothing but staged. I am certain her team (read her husband) told her to show emotion and let a tear roll if possible. I cannot believe she lost control suddenly after such a long run in the public eye...
Comment: I believe her tearing up was real; but not because she so loves her country. Its because she is finally having to face that she may not win the nomination. She is power hungry and that has nothing to do with helping our country. Its all about her.
Comment: If Hillary had shown genuine emotion in the past then maybe, just maybe I could see the event as spontaneous. The long history of her public life has shown her to be calculating, careful and very precise with her words and actions. I do not think she intended anything other than to stage the "emotional" display for the cameras, in the presence of a room of women who already support her. She is far too careful a politician to believe otherwise. I am certain her team (read husband) told her to stage the event in the last hours as an attempt to sway female voters; it is more reason to think she is disingenuous...as usual.
Comment: Sen. Clinton did *not* become upset, nor did her "eyes tear up," and if you watch the video clip, you'll see that she rebounded quickly from her moment of fatigue. She looked tired, and yes, a little demoralized for one fleeting moment. All this commentary is much ado about nothing.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not Clinton's biggest fan, and I don't yet know whether I will vote for her, but those people who suggest that she's too weak for the presidency are demonstrably wrong. All the candidates are losing it from fatigue; cf. Sen. Obama's statement yesterday that "the time for come has change"! By all accounts, the campaign trail is much more exhausting and public than the presidency itself.

Comment: How is she embarassing out country? Our country is already the laughing stock of the world with our pathetic healthcare system and running a war that was so poorly prepared for and illegal. I have not decided who to vote for, but I don't doubt her emotion--and what she said resonates with alot of women, I think. We all try to do the best we can and I think alot of people share the sentiment that we have to reverse what is happening. I don't think any American wants this country to be where it is now. It's a shame to see where Bush and Cheney have placed our country economically (recesssion looming and the medicore dollar rate) and morally. We have lost any moral standing we might have had now. So what if she got upset and emotional??...it's about time someone did!
Comment: rdhzd
Comment: Did Hillary really cry or did she take a cue from her husband who always bit his lip when he was "trying" to be emotional and hold back? Has anyone else ever watched Hillary's face and "smile" while being interviewed by someone that asks a question she doesn't like ? Her face gets a hard edge to it and the "light " in her smile evaporates... The only thing that probably irritates the Clintons more then Obama being in the lead is that Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize and Bill did not....
Comment: What a load of crap. Hilary is an arrogant, cold women who thought she had the democratic nomination in the bag and now she sees that's not true and she's scared. So, what better way to try to get some votes in a room full of females, than to cry and get all emotional. It was all an act and personally I think it was a stupid move on her part; she looks weak. She is calculating and quite pathetic. She's just trying to do all she can to win the party nomination. And if she does win, only better for the republicans!!
Comment: This is such a joke. The whole thing is a plan to get sympathy from female voters. She's arrogant thought she was a shoe in for the democtratic party and now that she sees she doens't have this race in the bag, she pulls out the tears to seem more compassionate and to be liked. What a load of crap!
Comment: This is really sad. Lets think about all the pressure that any politician goes through on a daily basis: black, white, male or female... do you see any of them crying? She is embarrassing our nation and our electoral process. This has nothing to do with hating Hillary or liking Hillary this has to do with integrity and vision. Two things she continues to show she lacks.
Comment: She's embarassing our country and the electoral process??? I'm not embarassed she got emotional. I'm sorry you feel that way. Why is everyone so adament that showing emotion shows weakness? She's human. And what I want right now is someone in office who actually cares about this country and the people who live in it. Someone who is making decisions for the better good and not for personal gain. And if you think that this is not happening in today's current administration, you are sorely mistaken.

Comment: What is wrong with showing emotion? That shows that she is for real about what she wants to do for our country. You know, it saddens me to see that a candidate such as Obama can gain votes just by saying we need "change". How exactly will he go about making that change? Where in his years as a senator has he proven himself?? It's not fair that Hillary is subjected to all the negativity from what the Bush Administration has done to this country. I am apart of Generation X and I really hope that my peers will look at what each candidate has done in their career before they go vote. Iowa and soon to be New Hampshire have voted based on who they like and rhetoric, not who is best fit for the job in terms of facts and reality. The reality is that we have a huge mess to clean up. Being inspiring is not enough!! When who ever is chosen takes a seat in the oval office and is bombarded with all of the issues we face today, what will that president do specifically. I wish my peers would do their research and stop voting based on what is fed to them by newspapers and television. The media can feed you with tons of false information to sway your vote. So I'm begging my peers to do their homework before maybe making a big mistake once again for our country. I personally feel as though the republican networks are routing for Obama just so they can ease another republican back in the White House. Hello??!! Wake up and pay attention!! Though I know Hillary is a fighter, I slowly see her giving up. If she throws in the towel we are doomed! GO HILLARY GO!!
Comment: I've heard many people comment that the sentence that made Clinton so misty -- "I have so many opportunities for this country" -- makes no sense. Well, actually, I think it does. If we just stop with the first phrase, we hear "I have so many opportunities." Well, not so much anymore; thus the tears. What she is really crying about is that the opportunity to be president seems to be slipping out of her grasp.
Now, of course, it wouldn't be publicly acceptable for her to straight-out make this statement. So she adds "for this country" and goes on to attach the emotional display to her love of country. I don't doubt that she loves her country, but this emotional reaction is not about that at all; it's about how disappointing it is to be working so hard for something that is not turning out as desired.

HILLARY says LBJ is more responsible for the Civil Rights Act than MLK ....
WTF... how could she?
Comment: And the Oscar for best actress goes to - Hillary Clinton for her engaging performance in Political Prowess. Emotions can be used as a ???strength??? to gain the support of those in search of a leader with "feelings" or viewed as a weakness by others. It would be refreshing to see the detailed plans of how each candidate is "going to make a change", the impact of the plan on the U.S. economics, the associated risks of the plan, the long-term benefits and the road map of how the plan will be implemented. But hey, who wants details when the country is begging for emotion and feelings.
Comment: Yeah, if she can't handle being behind in the polls in NH without turning on the waterworks, I'm sure she'll be a tough as nails when she's staring down terrorists and other bad guys on the world stage. This was a totally disgusting, intelligence-insulting staged moment. As a woman, I'm sick of the gender-based pandering.
Comment: Hillary has made change and will continue to make change.

Comment: I am excited that Hilary Clinton is showing emotion when she speaks about the United States , It is not because she is a " woman" it is because she truly cares about this nation . I know that is a surprise for most that a Politian can truly care about the issues we are facing. It is refreshing to have a Politian care , rather then being a "Talking Head". I commend Hilary Clinton.
Comment: Thanks for the objective article. I really think it's been ridiculous how the moment was played up. I read about it first, and then watched it--and the actual video was nothing like the sensationalistic write-ups. I didn't see one tear, and she didn't come even close to crying. It was an appropriate answer for the question asked. I don't support Clinton, but I think it's unfair and silly for the media to have made such a huge deal of it.
Comment:
I am amazed at some of the comments here.
Comment: I'm surprised that someone who does remember the Clinton administration has not gained enough insight and information to realize that 1) the economic condition of the country under a president are a direct result of the economic policies of the previous administration. It takes 8-10 years for policies to effect the economy--i.e. the natural economic flow of business cycles. And do you know how the Clinton administration balanced the budget?? The completely dismantled the military as it existed. You ask any career military person working during the Clinton administration and see if they support Hillary, and have any admiration for Bill. Hillary (even more so than Bill, and he was one of the best) is a brilliant politician. Every move is calculated and planned. Her tears were absolutely an attempt to gain the vote of women who might have been influenced by Oprah's support of Obama. She is planning every move. And believe me, she stood by Bill during the last years of his administration because she knew it would be suicide to her political ambitions to do anything but. She has wanted the White House from the beginning, and when she realized she could not have the power she needed as first lady, she began her strategy to run for the presidency. I predicted it back then, saw it coming, and now here it is. No surprises to me!!!!
Comment: How about the emotions of the other candidates? A tear shows emotion openly but what to think about hidden emotions, leading to act wrongly, like bombing people because you don't take resistance against oppression any longer? jany
Comment: The question is, how will she react after becoming president? If a vote on a bill does not go her way, tears? If congress opposes her on an issue she really wants, tears? What if she gets boo'd in another country? What about a really dangerous crisis? I'm sorry, but I have lost a lot of confidence in her ability to control our military and be a national leader.
Comment: The real problem I see is, how will she handle real problems in office. The same way? If a vote on one of her bills doesn't go her way, tears? What about in a real crisis. I have really lost confidence in her.
Comment: exploiting tears won`t take you there Hillary.
Comment: When everything seems to be lost...tears are the last resource. How sincere? Only she knows., but power is an ill advisor.
Comment:
Is she freaking serious?? I'm for Hillary, but WHAT THE HELL??

Comment: So, Hillary's voice cracked. She did not cry. Why isn't the press writing about the discussion that took place before this so-called breakdown that wasn't breakdown? Why are they not talking about the important things? When she laughs, they call it a cackle - if she were a man they'd call it a hearty. When she expresses herself directly and forcefully, they call her cold - if she were a man, they'd call her confident. The press and the bloggers need to get their priorities straight.

Comment: You don't have to be president to make a difference. We need a leader and we need strength. We need someone who isn't going to ball up when times are tough and hold their head high and accept that the facts are determined by the actions and words before them. Emotion is a weakness Tyllek and it is DEFINATELY not a strength so you need to go another direction with that.
"Until we stop telling little boys to "man-up" and not allow them to be human we'll never advance as a society."
Advancing as a society has soo many countless variables that you can't even sit here and think that it is determined by telling a boy not to "man-up". BTW.. "Manning-up" means take responsibility for your actions and step up to the plate when things get tough. I guess you can continue to be insane, or you can just accept the fact that emotion and confidence do not run parallel in the human psyche.
And.. please tell me when we have "ADVANCED". I'm sure there will be a defining moment where everyone signs a piece of paper agreeing to the advanced state of society. Of course this agreement letter's distribution to the public will be paid for by our tax dollars and will require return postage paid by you.
Comment: I certainly understand how the political game works and how 'event's like this can be spun, read into, etc as something else for the appropriate opponents use. HOWEVER, if you allow yourself and your personal preferences to step aside and look at situations from a clear and neutral point of view you can see whether something is sincere or not.
In this case it seemed obvious to me that the only thing Hillary was expressing with her emotion was her desire to see change in the way things are going in this country, which is straight into the crapper. You can read whatever else you want to into it, but that is all I say from a neutral point of view.
If you take emotion away from a candidates profile you better be prepared to take away passion and all the other emotions that are considered strong too, which would leave us with a bunch of statues and a list of their views and proposals sculpted into their forehead come election day.
Comment: Hillary's tears? She's done like dinner... it finished Muskie, it will be her undoing as well. You won't see any great overture of voters saying "the tears did it for me", but it is a quiet chipping away at her dominance in politics. It demonstrates to so many of us in a subtle manner that she may have the passion for the office, but lacks the strength -- call it sexism if you like, but it's an unconscious feeling which will sway more than one voter - male and female.
Comment: Hillary "Croc-em" Clinton! Crocodile tears! I really admire the Clintons though but those cheap tears? C'mon...
Comment: Comment:
FACT: When Hillary is winning she is gloating, grating, cackling and venemous.
FACT: When Hillary is losing - she cries like the little B*@($ that she truly is.
This is not strength or humanity - these are simply tears of SELF-PITY that a poor loser sheds. And fake ones at that.
Comment: Name a single executive position of any importance that Hillary has held.
Name a single budget that she has balanced.
Name a single thing that makes her more qualified than other candidates who have far more governmental experiance?
Thought so.
Comment: She was on the Wal-Mart board for six years. Not exactly the credential I want in a Dem nominee however.
Comment: So, having a slight emotional breakdown is a good thing? Showing your "true" self? Being real? If nothing else, that presidential nominee all but sealed her fate with getting my vote. If this presidential hopeful cannot keep her composure during a presidential campaign in which things' just are not going her way; how would I trust her with leading this country in the world today. She showed me that its her way or the highway. That she is so sure that shes the right person for the job that shes on the verge of pouting over her soon to be inevitable loss. That sounds alot like someone else I know of; the current U.S. president. Change? I think not. Also, isnt it funny that the only people that seemed to be taken by her "emotional" breakdown...are women?
Comment: Shedding tears, being emotional does NOT mean you're weak. Women and men are different. Men have been told for years that it's wrong to cry and show emotion. Well it's not. It shows that you're human. Humans get tired and worn out and lose their composure. Women tend to shed tears when they're upset, men tend to yell. And just because she lost her composure during a campaign that's been ongoing for months doesn't mean that she's a cry baby and can't handle pressure. Grow up. BTW, yes I'm a woman. I'm also a Democrat and from NY. Hearing her words and her display of emotion made me think that she truly cares about this country and believes that she's the best person for the job. It made her more human to me, less of a ball busting carpet bagger. All that aside I'm still voting for Obama because I believe he's the best person for the job at this moment in time. That's what you should base your vote on, not the candidate's sex or brief display of emotion.
Comment: Well in the world of diplomacy and politics, you dont show your tell. You dont let em know that your worried or scared. You dont show fear. She showed it and though it may be a human trait, if you want to be the president of the united states you do not show weakness. You say it doesnt matter because thats what women do. Women cry and men yell. Think about what you said with that statement and you'll realize that you just set your sex back another 20 years.
