What I don't understand is why Hillary isn't hammering home the competence issue. Her main strength is not only her natural abilities, which are numerous, but she completely understands the legislative and executive process - from both ends. This saves us a year or more of learning curve, prevents "handlers" from undue influence, gives us instant credibility overseas and ends eight years of chaos.

In a post 9/11 world, Hillary is the only one I trust in the Oval Office. Unfortunately, an enviornment supporting the status quo is NOT favorable. Lets just hope that smooth talkin Obama does NOT get nominated; because the democratic party will be doomed!
    Dont give up Hillary !!!

    Hillar y 08!

With Hillary Clinton it's all about her inflated ego and she will utilize her phonyness to it's fullest extent. After everyone found out her husband was get 'Lewinskyied' in the Oval Office she just looked the other way. If she would have split from him after he left office, then no problem. But the fact that she stayed with that weasel only proves that she is using him for the sake of recognition and apparent support. Plus a divorce does'nt exactly reflect very well when running for the ultimate office in the country - let alone a senate seat.

People get tired. You can hear it in her voice. You can see it in her movements. Senator Clinton has been campaigning for more than a year. She's not doing as well as she expected. So I could understand her tearing up with certain exceptions. The senator was told to be more "likeable" and her cackle was not received well. She was told to be more aggressive in IA and that didn't give her the attention she wanted. She was advised to be more human in NH.
Now Bush has teared up. For instance, he got quite emotional while pontificating over the deaths of more than 3000 innocent people on 9/11. What made the Senator tear up? "How do you manage to get out the door every morning?" She welled up on cue and made a political speech. If a question about my life choice made me well up, I'd change my life.
Let me ammend that. I did cry when I gave birth. Passing a human can be physically painful.

    Cue: Turn on tears.
After: Did I look human enough? Did I, Did I?

How stupid can you get? I bet you voted for Bush!

Honestly, I thought the same thing. If she'd taken this softer approach instead of caterwauling like a banshee half the time this little "touching moment" might have been more believeable.

Did you watch the debate? Hillary Clinton consistently gave the most well researched, sophisticated and intelligent answers of all the candidates. She was straight to the point, answering the questions that were asked while the other three kept on giving vague answers or talked about something not related to the question being asked. If she tears up in response to a questions is not relevant. We are voting for the person with the best solutions for the country, not the person who manages to show no emotions. Like Hillary said in the debate - last time people voted for someone they wanted to have a beer with, look where that left us.....

    • Posted By: xrazorwirex @ 01/07/2008 10:07:46 PM

kinda like when she refused to answer questions because "they were plants?"

she only does these things to throw on a facade.

  • Posted By: at_peace @ 01/07/2008 9:43:47 PM

I genuinely do believe that this was staged. Why is she all of a sudden prone to being compassionate? She certainly did not show her "compassion" when she was leading in the polls...

This incident bears great similiary to that of her staged question-period. I simply do not trust her.

    • Posted By: mom of 3 @ 01/07/2008 9:52:22 PM

I also agree it was more likely staged .... it wouldn't be the first time Hillary's Camp this ....

      • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 10:07:38 PM

All camps have staged things. Its part of the game with the media, however, I don't think this is one of those times. Watch the video - its no big deal - she just got emotional over the topic. I don't think she cried.

Hillary Clinton didn't sell herself out (see "fyrfyter215" comment.) Rather, she stood by her values in marriage and worked it out for her family, not just herself Clinton is not as selfish as all that, to quote "fyrfyter215" "sell her soul", but took care of everyone, not just herself. Her interest is in the collective whole rather than just self-serving. Yes, Bill Clinton did what he did. Get over it and move on. She did.

  • Posted By: livefree @ 01/07/2008 10:06:53 PM

I'd be close to tears to if my campaign was failing as miserably as Hillary's. She doesn't care about the Military, she despises it! I know, I worked for the Clintons.. She wants to bring the troops home becuase that promise will get her votes. NOONE wants our boys and girsl overseas.... but then why do people continue to re-enlist after two, three or even more depolyments? They see the positive things that ARE being accomplished in Irag and Aghanistan that the media refuses to publicize. What about ack home? Women's rights? Hillary supported a lying, conniving cheater just to serve her purpose. How about take MORe of our tax dollars and giving it to illegals that bypass and ignore our legal system, then use more tax dollars for free medical care and education? Think again.

If you truly believe Hillary did not rehearse and plan this event, I'll bring you some Kool-Aid to share with you and your friends. The only reason this has occurred is that Obama is killing her in the polls and she is playing to the female voters which Obama has a greater percentage of the vote. I bet that you believed Bill when he said, "I did not have sex with that woman" and pointed his finger at you so convincingly.

  • Posted By: watching @ 01/07/2008 9:55:39 PM

Make no mistake...Hillary is not for America, she's for Hillary. The only thing she's lusted after is POWER. She married Bill because she saw him as a powerful man. She cared nothing at all about his little escapades, either in Arkansas or in The White House. I traveled abroad while he was President, and I was embarrassed to admit he was our "Leader". Beware of Hillary, she's the most dangerous person running for office in the the last 200 years. If you want Socialism right here at home, vote for her. Otherwise, choose anyone else, please, Please, PLEASE!!!!! My suggestion is John McCain, but then I'm from Arizona. At least he's been in the Military, he understands what's happening in Iraq. He's also been in the Senate for 25 years, which gives him the experience he needs to deal with the foxes in the Senate/Congress. But, as I said, that's only a suggestion. BEWARE OF THE CLINTON'S, they've already shown how untrustworthy they are.

    • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 10:03:50 PM

They met in Law school and then got married right after. He was not powerful yet. Why do you paint her this way? i think Americans are bone headed sexist pigs that think there has to be something wrong with a woman who is talented and ambitious.

I think people saying that she should have left her husband and showed cowardice in her actions fail to see that she did just the opposite...she took a difficult and uncomfortable situation and persevered, worked hard at it and made it work...just the character that we need in our president...instead of making hasty and knee jerk decisions when things get tough and difficult, she took it in strides and committed to making it work and keep it together...I definitely admire that quality about her...far better than golly gee this is tough so lets just give up and abandon all other options and go blow up some country or hit that red button to release the nooks...get real folks...many of folks go through relationship problems and infidelity, unfortunately the media publicized theirs...I am willing to bet that a number of folks on this MB have either cheated or have been cheated on themselves...I wonder how they would have handled that situation if it was being publicized in every media format...

Everything is orchestrated and rehearsed in advance in front of focus groups. Just another calculated risk that her handlers have suggested to pull the emotional heartstrings of female voters. What really has Hillary shook up is that Obama has succussfully courted the female vote more strongly than she has. If you truly believe she cares about the average people, I'll bring you a pitcher of Kool-Aid to share with you and your friends. She only cares about the Average Votes the average voter has. It's all about power. Look at her past.

oh please. the *** is all about advancing herself. the only reason she tried to boo hoo is because she's losing. ask yourself: did she cry during any of the 9/11 ceremonies? has she cried during any of the national disasters over the past 35 years? no. she either scowled or plastered a concerned look on her face in the hopes of getting a political boost out of it.

you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig

Make no mistake....Hillary was crying because she could see her plan to take over the White House starting to crumble. She's crying because she thought she could just waltz back into the White House without a struggle of any kind, she thought she had this country by the b--ls. And then what happened? Barack happened. He's well on his way to dashing her long-held plans on the rocks of reality. Hillary just can't get it through her re-styled head that we just don't want her in the White House again....thank you very much!!!

As a woman, I understand her struggle between fighting passionately for what you believe is right and attempting to not be viewed as too aggressive. She is frustrated because her younger male counterparts are ganging up on her. It appears to be a coordinated political move. And unfortunately I used to pull for an Obama/Edwards ticket, but now it seems they've learned the "politics" games a little too well. I'm still undecided, but I definitely believe this only helped Hillary's cause.

Love the "hsmsn" comment! Hillary is good!! She's determined and has a different approach. It might just be exactly what we need. We won't know if we don't try to see her to the presidency. She's a good person and would do well by her country. No, she's not perfect. Do you know someone who is?
