To JDW: Just didn't want you to miss my reply to you as I had problems posting - did I get thrown off a lib-leaning site so early? LOL. Anywho... you sayeth: "In virtually every way, I'm still what would be considered a conservative by most in the United States, and I'll again reiterate that the only individual I'd vote for in this election would be Obama." OK JDK, perhaps I made a statement a little harsh. I'll simply reword it for you: you have abandoned your conservative principles by supporting Obama. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just don't call yourself a "Conservative" when you support a blatant socialist liberal like Obama. Fair enough? Oh yeah, and Ron Paul is another favorite of you leftists too, just because he's against the war in Iraq. You fool nobody but yourself, pal. I've been involved with internet politics for 15 years and can week you leftists out in no time.

And again, I find it odd that you assume you can so quickly and accurately gauge one's political and social beliefs based on a single posting. You may argue that I've "abandoned" my conservatism, but you're merely making that argument from your own perspective, which could be labeled "ultraconservative," "conservative," or perhaps even "liberal" from a small minority. In other words, trying to argue that someone is liberal or conservative or that they are "abandoning" their values by making a particular political choice is ultimately subjective, as there isn't a single definition of either. You try to label me as liberal, but most people I meet label me as conservative, or in some cases, "one of those idiotic Christian conservatives." In my own case I try to keep my personal beliefs separate from my feelings as to who would bring the greatest good to the nation at any particular time. In this case it happens to be Obama. You can toss as many labels as you'd like on that, but it doesn't make you any more correct than the morons comparing his name to Osama's.

Oops, check that - make that "weed" out. Toodles with your liberal socialist lifestyle, JDW!

I remember all the voices of those of you estpecially the media...who should be horsewhpped that didn't vote for Gore because....because he sounded gay, he was too fat, boring, blah blah blah blah blah and look at the mess we're now! Do you really think I would vote for anybody else but Mrs. Clinton? Girl! I will vote for you with or without tears.

  • Posted By: noelleecc @ 01/07/2008 9:22:48 PM

I saw no tears, what I did see was "honesty, compassion, and concern", for the Country and the American people. A leader who is more then capable of putting together the thoughts, Ideals, and dedication this Country so desperately needs and deserves to get us back on track.
I was all for the war on terrorism, but we have to be just as vigilant in preserving the American way of life, the ideals our forefathers established for us. Rights and freedoms the Bush administration has striped from us.
Thanks to Bush and the Republicans we are now no longer respected as a Nation, and are now hated by the World in whole and will now always be a target of extremism. We need to protect our borders and concentrate on the well being of the Nation, economy and the people of this Blessed Country, we strife so hard to maintain. I find it silly our soldiers can protect other Country???s borders and not are own. Given the choice, I???m voting for a candidate who is real ??? not a puppet.
God Bless you Hillary for showing your human side.

I agree - I don't think she was crying at all. She did show emotion however.

HILLARY CANNOT BE PRESIDENT----CRYING, SHOWING THAT WE AS WOMEN HAVE A PLACE AND IT'S CERTAINLY NOT ON THE MOST POWERFUL THRONE IN THE WORLD.

    • Posted By: Andie NC @ 01/07/2008 8:51:04 PM

Shame on you! I cannnot for the life of me understand women like you! The people most damaging to women getting ahead in our society is other women who are closed minded and limiting! It is this attitude that keep women earing less than men while doing the same job, that keep women and children the largest group living in poverty. I do not understand why you would want to limit anyone based on something such as their gender!

      • Posted By: MIKKI @ 01/07/2008 9:35:05 PM

ANDIE, MY COMMENT WAS NOT TO PLEASE YOU, AND I APOLOGIZE IF YOU WERE OFFENDED, BUT I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR THE TRUTH. PERHAPS YOU SHOULD READ YOUR BIBLE WHEN IT COMES TO LEADERSHIP, WHEN IT COMES TO THE ROLES THAT MEN AND WOMEN WERE DESIGNED FOR. A MAN CAN NEVER GIVE BIRTH TO A CHILD, BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE HIM LESS THAN A WOMAN AND A WOMAN NEVER BEING PRESIDENT DOESN'T MAKE HER LESS THAN A MAN. THE STRUCTURE IS GOD, MAN, WOMAN, AND CHILD. WE AS WOMEN ARE TO BUILD UP AND STRENGHTEN OUR MEN. I DON'T SEE WOMEN COMMING HOME IN BODY BAGS FROM IRAQ. SO LET'S KEEP IT REAL!!!! LET'S CONTINUE TO BE SUPPORTIVE AND LET THE MEN LEAD, THANK YOU!!! PLUS YOU WOULD BE THE ONE ASHAMED WHEN HILLARY STARTS TO CRY AT A WORLD MEETING OR SOMETHING.

        • Posted By: Andie NC @ 01/07/2008 9:52:24 PM

I don't know if I should laugh or cry at your response. Either way I'm not wasting any more time engaging with someone so rigid and narrow in their views and perceptions of humankind.

She's cooked... The media will go nuts over this - tearing up because she's tired and behind in the polls. C'mon... HOW WOULD SHE REACT IF GOD FORBID A BOMB DROPPED IN A MAJOR CITY IN THIS COUNTRY if she'll tear up about being tired and losing the race?

    • Posted By: carhughes @ 01/07/2008 7:15:21 PM

Let's not forget the frozen, dear in the headlights look and then kick back to read a book "upside down" to a classroom of kindergartners. Failing to realize the enormity of the situation, George W. was oh so impressive here, i must note. Real-time leadership skills at their best.

      • Posted By: militarybrat @ 01/07/2008 9:50:46 PM

What was he supposed to do: scare or confuse the little children by running out only to be immeadeatly escorted to a secure location until such time that more information became available concerning causualties and where/who the attack came from. I do not know whether Bush made the right choice or not but your comment shows that you really don't know much about security policy in times of immenant attack. Also, a canident crying, or being close to tears, while answering a question during a political campaign is not the same thing a president being told that terrorists attacked the World Trade center. Thus, the mannor in which Hillary Clinton and George Bush reacted in these instances do not relate to each other.

    • Posted By: maples @ 01/07/2008 8:13:55 PM

If a bomb dropped on the country would you want a president to address the country with tears as she explained the damage and then turn into her steely self as she explained what she was going to do about it? Yes and that is what Hilary would do. Vote for Hilary she is experienced and human and she is a very tough lady!

  • Posted By: nicki7717 @ 01/07/2008 9:49:39 PM

Mrs. Clinton appeared to be speaking from the heart and very genuine. Some people will grasp at anything to make the connection that women are more emotional and that some how makes them less likely to be able to lead this country. She did not appear to be next to tears. Pathetic!

Hillary went to Yale and as First Lady of Arkansas, founded Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, introduced Arkansas' Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youth, and worked tirelessly on behalf of children and families, while practicing law in Little Rock. In recognition of her professional and personal accomplishments, she was named Arkansas Woman of the Year in 1984. Seems to me she has always had ambitions that are separate from her husband's. It's also well doccumented that she kept up these ambitions as first lady. She then became a United States Senator who is very good about being present for votes, etc. Many Americans are working couples. What's the big deal? The fact that her husband was president factors in, just as it did with Bush and his father. At least Hillary wasn't a whiskey and coke head while her husband was in office. Hillary is actually a representation of moderm times. Laura Bush is perhaps old school and not what the future looks like at all. Nobody put all this garbage on the Doles when she ran.

I find it curious that the majority of criticisms directed at Obama come from Democrats and frequently reference the belief that he could not win against any Republican candidate. Speaking as a convervative Christian who had been raised in a Republican household and had voted for Bush during his first election, I can definitively state that there is no way I would ever consider voting for any of the Republican candidates or Clinton. However, if Obama were to win the Democratic nomination, I would vote for him without hesitation, and I know many Republicans and independents who feel the same. Obama may not have Clinton's experience--which I actually view as a positive point in some ways--but he certainly has the ability to draw voters from across the board and without regard to party lines, which is something Clinton simply cannot do due to the polarized legacy she carries. Frankly, I find it difficult to have confidence in any candidate who does have a great deal of experience in Washington, as it most often seems to merely indoctrinate them into the same unilateral mode of thinking that dominates American politics--an ideology of division and paranoia that only serves to further special interests and extremists on both sides. Regardless of whether Obama has less experience than Clinton or any other candidate, he has at least demonstrated that he'd be more than capable of drawing from talent in both the Democratic and Republican parties. More importantly, he can at least make me feel as if there is some hope for American politics. Clinton cannot.

  • Posted By: hsmsn @ 01/07/2008 9:46:03 PM

Did you watch the debate? Hillary Clinton consistently gave the most well researched, sophisticated and intelligent answers of all the candidates. She was straight to the point, answering the questions that were asked while the other three kept on giving vague answers or talked about something not related to the question being asked. If she tears up in response to a questions is not relevant. We are voting for the person with the best solutions for the country, not the person who manages to show no emotions. Like Hillary said in the debate - last time people voted for someone they wanted to have a beer with, look where that left us.....

  • Posted By: luvnpeace @ 01/07/2008 9:44:46 PM

Oh come on people! Most of us don't cry on command, and I don't believe she did either. Besides, its not a fault to show emotion, rather it would be if someone was so stoic that they couldn't see another way to peace than through war.. What our country really needs? More humanity!!!

  • Posted By: womanand mother @ 01/07/2008 6:59:02 PM

I for one believe that America needs a strong person. Someone who cares for the interests of Children and the family as a whole. Definitely, needs someone who has had faced adversity in their own life that can relate to what you and I face on a daily basis?

Why is Obama so popular? Well, people are lookign for someone who is not a "Woman" and people like Oprah have exceled his celebrity because of his race. I look thru my history books and no where do I see in the history of our nation a "Woman", but you know what else I do not see a name like "Obama". He may not be a terrorist but his name is sure not native. So before you give her a hard time for being a woman, give him a second look for his origin.

    • Posted By: militarybrat @ 01/07/2008 9:42:09 PM

Your comment is a bit hipocritical because Hillary is not a "native" name either, and descriminating against someone because of race or familial origin is no better than discriminating against them because of gender. I don't know what history textbook you went through, but I find it really hard to believe that it had absolutely "no women" in it.

    • Posted By: Rastafari @ 01/07/2008 8:22:10 PM

Native?White americans aren't native either.Check your history again.

  • Posted By: ericl @ 01/07/2008 9:41:22 PM

riomurphy: I didn't have the right to vote when she helped me. That is the point.

  • Posted By: Notfooled @ 01/07/2008 9:41:12 PM

Don't be fooled. This woman is a dangerous threat to this country. She should have got an Oscar for this performance. She will do anything to be in a positon of power. mac2007, you may think me heartless, but you are certainly naive.

  • Posted By: at_peace @ 01/07/2008 9:41:09 PM

I do genuinely believe that this was staged. Another desperate attempt on behalf of the ever changing Clinton campaign; it's unfortunately, really.

  • Posted By: ceojuliej @ 01/07/2008 9:40:20 PM

We need a passionate caring and nurturing leader. Clinton just showed us a fabulous quality that has been lacking in politics... compassion. I am going to go door to door for her. Her words are back up by beliefs... Obama is merely words. Edwards is closer to the passion, by Hillary's got it! We need her for President.
    YOU GO GIRL!

  • Posted By: fyrfyter215 @ 01/07/2008 9:38:14 PM

What a great actress.... if she really cared for the women in this country she would have showed them its ok to get rid of a bum who cheats on you numerous times.... instead she sold her soul and stayed with him to be in the position she is in today, which is running for President. Do you want a President who sold herself out? What would she do to you?? Think about it?

  • Posted By: james cantrell @ 01/07/2008 6:59:44 PM

i believe hillary is true blue. she does care about the country. she was raised republican and she saw the light. as a democrate, you care about the whole of the country not just the rich end part but the whole, and thats what hillary is all about. it does take a village to run your home, you town, your county, your state, you country, and the world. we must do this togather. please people give her the opportunity to do this for us, FOR US THE WHOLE VILLAGE. women have this bond with children and we are all god's children to care for the whole. please listen to her.....and me.....im in a position that i can see what george bush has done to this country. i work near an army base the biggest in training. i work with different bank everyday and i have seen the downsizing trickle effect that this country has went through. i have seen the soldiers family and the soldier deal with iraq and listened to their comments on the whole thing. 99 percent of soldiers say. "we had no business in iraq, we fought the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time. now we have to stay in a country that will never run on its own. it will always have to have us there in order for them to make it in life. why doesn't this country pay us back on all that oil. someone is getting paid they say." it breaks my heart. and i know that hillary can fix this. she is a very organized person that can see the whole picture from beginning to end. and that is what we need. not someone whom just thinks they can. WE NEED A PRESIDENT THAT CAN !!!!!!!! THINK ABOUT THIS PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDRENS-CHILDREN. i wish there were more i could say to make people realize if they do not vote for hillary they are making the biggest mistake to help this country. we are so far in debt. why doesn't bush use some of his own money. or dick cheney with haliburton...... but i need to stop now. please people of the union lets think long and hard about this. don't laugh for anybody that cries.........that means they have a heart and you know they would do there very best for the country. you get very tired on the campign trail so don't say things negative till you have walked in her shoes. thats whats wrong with this country people are tooo quick to judge. oh hillary i tried to explain to the country for you. let hope they can read this and truely understand the word UNITED. GOD BLESS AMERICA IN EVERY WAY.........

First off where are you getting your bogus statistics. A majority of military personal (soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines) polled supported the war. Many come back saying they are proud of what they've done and believe they've made a difference. Your claim of 99% is not even viable as statistics rarely if ever go that high, it is a statistical anomoly for them to even get into the 90s range. Thus, unless you've personally questioned 99% of the army or can prove that yours is an accurate percentage then you shouldn't make such a claim. Your quote is not a quote, obviouse by the tense and person change in it and appears like a mesh of several quotes and not from the military. Further, just because you live near a military base or happen to know some military families does not give you the right to claim that you view is what military families feel. You do NOT know what it "feels like" to be in a military family unless your in/from a military family. Unless you have actually seen a member of your family go to war, you can not know what that is like; so stop pretending that you do because its insulting to those of us from a military background. Your basic grammer shows a complete lack of thought, the lest you could have done is to capitalize the first letter of the names. Your post desplays ingnorance which does nothing to aid Hillary as you claim to be trying to do.

JDK wrote at 8:34PM: "Speaking as a convervative Christian who had been raised in a Republican...voted for Bush...if Obama were to win the Democratic nomination, I would vote for him without hesitation, and I know many Republicans...who feel the same." Why do liberals and democrats have to lie? I can't tell you how many times I come across comments like, "I'm a conservative Republican, but..." I'm involved with several Republican blogs and a local Republican group with national ties, and not *one* Republican I know of says he or she will vote for Obama! Anyway, this is all just a Hillary put on. Both Clintons are perhaps the biggest phonies in the history of politics. At least Carter didn't pander to the masses and lead based upon what the masses thought in polling data. That's not leadership - that's followership. People are sick of the Clintons and sick of the Bushes. I"m sick of both Bushes because both act more like liberal Democrats than conservative Republicans that they ran as. Hillary is just flat out unelectable.

    • Posted By: JDK88 @ 01/07/2008 9:06:15 PM

And you feel that you can simply and safely assume I'm lying? It's not that easy. In regard to my political and religious upbringing and beliefs, I was born in Wisconsin in 1979 to evangelical Christian parents. They were one of the founding families of a church in our area (Sparta--near the Minnesota border), and we attended it throughout my childhood. I've never wavered in my beliefs, and I now plan to gain my graduate degree in theology. My parents were both Republican, and regardless of whether I actually knew of the distinctions at the time, I followed their lead. My earliest political memory beyond simply liking Ronald Reagan was a "vote" we held in middle school during the 1992 election, in which I cast my vote for the elder Bush. When I was first able to legally vote in the 2000 election, I voted for George W. Bush, and I continued to defend him after the events of 9/11 and the initial invasion of Iraq, as I genuinely believed that he and his administration were being maligned by the media and left-wing liberals. I've never voted for a Democrat at any level of politics, and in the last two to three years I've simply abstained from politics altogether, believing both Republicans and Democrats to be hijacked by the extremes. In other words, your assumptions about me are entirely ignorant and asinine. In virtually every way, I'm still what would be considered a conservative by most in the United States, and I'll again reiterate that the only individual I'd vote for in this election would be Obama.

      • Posted By: JDK88 @ 01/07/2008 9:15:51 PM

Let me amend that: I'd vote only for Obama unless by some bizarre twist of fate, Ron Paul were to get the Republican nomination.
