Those of you who seem to think "she's just a woman" or that she lacks experience, don't seem to be well read on her experiences. Besides her tenue as a senator, she helped write a comprehensive health plan during her husband's presidency, traveled abroad and was a representative for her husband--truly helping to shape the positive foreign affairs this country used to possess...she was the first First Lady to have her own staff so that she could do more than plan parties in the White House and do charity work.

Instead of focusing on the tears, THINK ABOUT HER MESSAGE: she loves this country and wants to move forward. As one who's lived in the White House, she has a plan and knows what she can and will do on day one--that's powerful to me.

I'm a woman, an educator, and a wife...and I didn't know who I was going to vote for. I think her display may have made up my mind to vote for Clinton, if I have that option in November.

Actually she is not the first: Eleanor Roosavelt had her own staff, even before her husband was president. Hillary's Health Care program failed and comprehensive as it may have been it was flawed. She was behind in the senate race till Guliani dropped out and technically should not have been allowed to run for the New York Senete till the next race because she didn't actually reside in New York long enough.

Hillary did not shed a tear at any of the 9-11 ceremonies, nor did I ever see her cry during all the pains afflected on our nation during her husbands presidency. The only time she crys is when she is about to lose the nomination - I find her selfish. I now turn my attention to either Obama or McCain for real change.

"I did not have sexual relations with"............. Come on people, knock it off, get some balls and don't get sucked into this BS. They are ( her and the slick one) money driven power hungry back stabbing lying sacks of crap. Go ahead vote her in. You'll then have to find, as usual ,someone else or something else to blame other then yourselves. Sheesh, grow up and think for once.

      Clinton lied but nobody died.

I can honestly say that before watching Mrs Clinton on this video..I had not given her any serious consideration...She had always come across as too hard nosed..There has to be a middle ground..even for male presidental hopefuls to show humanity and compassion..and getting a smidge choked up while making a very passionate personal speech.. only shows the depth to which her commitment stands..Maybe for the first time in a long time we might have someone in the race for the right reasons.. Making our Country the Great Country it used to be...

      thats all it takes?? seriously??

wow.. you really havent been watching who really gives a damn about our country.

Good wife to bad husband, smart, good mother, emotionally un/stable whatever. Sen. Clinton is not entitiled to the Presidency. She has to take her knocks and earn her votes just like the others do. Bill Clinton's record doesn't give her credit toward leading this nation. Saying she's 'so ready to lead' does not quaify her for leadership of this country. She's been kneecapping the other candidates since the beginning and is upset because she couldn't win at the 'goold ol boy' tactics she's been doleing out. And I'm tired of hearing about her compassion. How compassionate is it to steal everything that wasn't nailed down in the White House while you were there? How compassionate was WhitewaterGate? Please, She has no problem telling young people to go to war and die but not to question her judgements/policies. She had no problem with her husband's "lack of experience" and then tries to stomp the light out of the next generation. She can't have it both ways. She can't draw blood with her fangs and then cry because the someone criticizes her. Yes, she cries so she's human. Great. We need a higher form of human in the White House.

Presidents are elected....by votes.....there is no entitlement. She is campaigning to become President, that is how it works here.

      • Posted By: ajackson @ 01/07/2008 7:32:22 PM

We deserve honesty- American People need a strong honest leader---She does not match the description- it is time for the Greatest Country to move forward to elect the next leader of our Country- Too bad she is not that person- I am not opposed to a compentent Female leading our country- problem is HC is not ONE.... She stayed with her husband for political reasons and will do anything to obtain the highest positon in our country...I am so embarrased with her manipulative ways to cultivate votes...Just not right.

You are a pompous idiot if you think you know why Hillary and Bill Clinton are married. You think you know what is best for their marriage huh?

    • Posted By: TeacherKB @ 01/07/2008 7:21:21 PM

She didn't cry, and it wasn't due to criticism. She welled up during a response that she felt empassioned giving, although I admit it wasn't on-point and was filled with soundbites.

  • Posted By: NapyBlue @ 01/07/2008 4:19:13 PM

Hillary is cold and conniving. She is playing the tear card as a weapon and that is totally wrong.

    • Posted By: ajackson @ 01/07/2008 6:42:13 PM

Hillary is not only Cold and Conniving- she is conceited---What makes anyone think she can be a Great President of our Country- When she can't even "manage" her own household? No way she can handle the "affairs" of the White House----she is not the answer...Vote her out...

      • Posted By: PFAHRENKOPF @ 01/07/2008 9:07:30 PM

You said it all!! They have already disgraced our country once!! Let's just boot them into retirement! Had enough of them.

  • Posted By: snux @ 01/07/2008 7:00:38 PM

Go Hilary! You are exceptionally smart and have a clear vision for the direction this country needs to head in. Eleanor (Roosevelt) lived in a time when it was unthinkable that a woman might be President - tho' she would have made a stellar one. Now - rise to this challenge and beat them all Madam President!

    • Posted By: militarybrat @ 01/07/2008 9:05:14 PM

Not exactly, by Eleanor's time women did serve in leadership roles and had been presidents or the equivalent in other countries. The first American woman to run for president was in 1872 before her time. Eleanor was a strong political leader and first lady. She was her husbands eyes and ears in the world. FDR envokes much of Eleanor's political ideas in exchange for her support, aid and not leaving him after he cheated on her with her secretary. {He also had to swear he'd never see his mistress again.} Her policies against raceism and segregation possitivly effected presidencial policy (example: the Pentagon was designed with seperate bathrooms for blacks and whites yet was forced to open with out segregation). Eleanor acted more like an assistant president than any other first lady and brought the political role of the first lady further than any other including Abigail Adams. Hiliary doesn't come close to Eleanor. As a first lady she used politics and roles which were largely opened up by Eleanor, seen a to a lesser degree eairlier with Abigail Adams and Martha Washington, without going as far as Eleanor. Hillary didn't act much like an assistant presidant either unless her failed health plan counts as getting her husband to implement (or in this case propose) her policies. The only valible comparison between Hillary and Eleanor are their gender and they are political figures.

The Clinton haters, you guys are heartless. Clinton is the most genuine and kind hearted people you will ever see. She genuinely cares about the average people.
I used to be one of the small group of people called unitefamilies.org. We all have green card but we are not citizens yet. But because of the restrictions of the immigration law, we could not bring our spouses over to this country only as a green card holder.
We spent a few years fighting for the rights to be together with our other halves. We send emails/faxes to our congressman, senators, but nobody cared because we don't have the right to vote. These people include Obama. We didn't get anything out of him!
Until we contacted Mrs. Clinton. She flew a few of us to Washington DC to meet her (unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet her myself, otherwise that would be the glorious moment of my life) and she was so sympathetic for us. Later she tried to put an amendment to the comprehensive immigration bill and even had a news conference with a few of us. Even though the bill failed in the senate because of a republican blockage, I am forever thankful for what she did.
What would Senator Clinton gain by helping us? Nothing! we are a very small group and have no rights to vote. Why? Because she has the most beautiful heart.
Now I have become a citizen, I will go down the same road with her no matter how tough it is going to be, no matter how long it is going to be.
    God bless her!

Just because you show emotion ,does not maen you are incapable as a leader.
Women are more emotional. This can bea good thing. If men would be more caring, there would be less wars and power strugges. Hillary did NOTbreakdown, she merely showed she cared and that the issue is very imprtant to her.

Go Hillary. It's about time we have a woman president. Our country is so far behind the other countries. How sad. Everyone says how advanced we our, but it is not true, Behind in medicine, politics, and many other things. Oprah should be standing behind Hillary not Obama. Oprah talks about standing up for women where was she for Hillary. Obama had to resort to Oprah to get the votes in Iowa. Obama was behind in the polls until that moment. It is time for a woman president, and that woman is Hillary Clinton. Hillary you had my vote in IOWA. Keep up the good work.

    • Posted By: CorbinB2 @ 01/07/2008 8:58:40 PM

We need to be careful that we aren't electing someone just because they are a womna or they are black or some other 'never been president' criteria. At the end of the day they have to be able to do the job...period.

It's certainly a step forward that we have progressed to the point that this is now possible in America, but is not a sole reason to vote for someone by itself.

  • Posted By: SpeakUp @ 01/07/2008 8:57:18 PM

FACT: If Hillary was ahead and winning, she would be GLOATING - not crying.

FACT: Hillary is only crying because SHE's LOSING! She is crying because of REJECTION. She is crying for her bruised ego. She is crying because she and the all the Clintonistas zealously believe that they and ONLY they are the anointed rulers of this country. This is the same type of crying that any child does when the child does not get her way.

Hillary???s crying indicates that she is NOT someone who is ready to lead this nation. She is simply a weak woman who is emotionally immature. She is NOT a uniter. She???s a partisan witch.

The mask is finally off Hillary and she's just another invention of the DNC spin machine along with their mouth piece, the media. CNN = Clinton News Network. Never truer.

  • Posted By: militarybrat @ 01/07/2008 8:18:17 PM

I not really sure why she was crying or why her crying is considered news worthy. The question ended with "who does your hair?" and thus would seem more like a question on appearence. Without that add on the begining of the question was more substancial, though pointless in my opinion. Why should it be so different on a woman running for president than a man? Its not like women have not campaigned for the US presidency before; the first being Victoria Claflin Woodhull in 1872. Even if this would have been the first time the campaigning process is the same as with male canidents: you have to get enough voters to win the election. It would not surprise me if Mrs. Clinton was trying to appeal to emotion in this case as that is in fact a common tool used by politicians, and people in general, despite it being a logical fallacy. She has made statements appealing to sentiment not reson or fact before. It also wouldn't surprise me if she broke a bit because of pressure as I'm sure running for presidential election is stressful, and people do crack under pressure. Is this that big of a deal? Depends on how you look at it; people cry for different reasons and have different views of public desplays of emotion. In my opinion I think that there are occations where public emotional displays are acceptable and times when they should be frowned upon. I don't know all of the circumstances around Hillary Clinton getting all choked up and teary eyed so I'll reserve judgement on this matter. The variety of opinions here interest me and I see some validity in many of them. I'll end by stateing that I do not understand how this is such a big issue even though it is not new. Wasn't there an incident a decade or so ago where a female canident had to drop out and cried during her announcement which angered a bunch of people who said she "took women back twenty years" or something like that. Why can't the canidents views make headlines instead of their apperance, gender, emotion, religion, ethnicity, background or other such trivial matters?

    • Posted By: Andie NC @ 01/07/2008 8:56:36 PM

How can you say gender, race, etc. are trival matters? You must live in a bubble. Because trust me, while things have certainly gotten better there is still the battle against the history of discrimination for many people. I'm not saying that these things should be the center of campaigns, but come on, Hillary is the MOST viable Female canidate in history and Obama is the MOST viable non-white canidate in history. For both that is exciting and inspiring!

Hillary keeps saying that she wants to be treated like "one of the boys." Yet, she keeps bringing up the fact that she's a woman.

Imagine this -- Mitt Romney or Obama breaking down like Hillary did. You know that the vast majority of us would think of them as weak. Yet, it's okay for HIllary because she's female. Except that she wants to be treated as an equal.

Hypocrite! We don't need a hysterical phony for a President. Hillbilly just ain't got the stuff for a real Prez.

  • Posted By: N_E_Patriots @ 01/07/2008 8:07:32 PM

I agree 100% with Minnesota's Finest re regative and innane comments being posted about Hillary Clinton. These comments sure sound like they come from people who clearly can't say anything intelligent. Hillary Clinton has done more in her lifetime to support the United States and everything we stand for than just about any other active politician. It's also pretty clear that Hillary is one of the hardest working politicians on the scene today and has a 'history" to show for her work. And because she's a woman, we know that she has to work doubly hard to get her work done, which adds another dimension to her level of commitment. Hillary's written "history" speaks for itself and clearly shows us what we can expect from her when she's elected President. So I was hoping that someone could give me a list of Obama's acccomplishments or his "history" since going to Washington? And inspriing words aren't accomplishments. Maybe I'm not as informed as I think I am, so I was hoping someone could tell me why Obama is qualified to be our next President? Also, can any of you qualify your negative comments about Hillary? In other words, what is the basis for your comments? What is it that Hillary has done or hasn't done that compels you to write these things? I'm pretty certain that you won't be able to address this because your "Hillary opinions" are based on "emotions" and "feelings"; they aren't based on anything other than this. If so, then this is a huge contradiction, isn't it? I'd also like to know what, if anything, any of you have ever done in your lifetime to support our country or your candidate of choice or, for that matter, anything you've done to support anything you believe in? Simply, what qualifies anyone to say these things and what is it that you're using to compare Clinton to Obama? I'd really like to know. (If you're in the Armed Services or you're a Veteran, then you're totally qualified, and is certainly something I'm not.) But I'm pretty much guessing that Hillary has done more for our country than all of us combined, times 100. I'd like to hear any comments from anyone outside the United States who is reading this. I'm really curious to find out if you're as impressed as I am with the postings??? And finally, I'd like to know if anyone has asked themselves whether or not Obama could beat the Republican candidate? Speaking as a Democrat, we need a candidate that will win the election because we can't afford 4+ more years with a Republican president. If you look at all the national polls, Obama can't beat any of the Republican candidates in a national election, and Hillary beats them all. Like Hillary. I get very emotional and I cry thinking about four more years with a Republican President. I don't consider this bad at all.

heres a little "history" about hillary clinton for you.

orignialy when her and bill were campaining, she was very outspoken against drug companies, however, thats about all she was, as she didnt hardly get involved in much else. now, if you are curious as to what she thinks about the drug companiews now... go ashead and check this article..
Clinton has received $781,112 in contributions from the health-care sector during the current election cycle, which makes her the No. 2 recipient of funds from that sector, behind only Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., who received $977,354.

Mainstream media is the most snobbery crowd.

When Clinton's poll looks good, nobody dares to raise voice to challenge her.

Now, everybody is in a hurry to join the Hillary-attack bandwagon.

Now, it is in vogue to praise Obama highly--it seems like he can do no wrong. Is Obama really that great? Everybody becomes so blind.

The bottom line is that no matter how much you want to admire Obama; Obama is still a politician who is in the game to grab the power. He is lucky. He is fresh and without baggage. So he doesn't need to go negative to win. As a result, he can easily make his rival look bad. Sometimes, I can detect certain arrogance in him.

I honestly feel Hillary has been unfairly attacked from all sides. C'mon, even though you may not like her, stil she hasn't done anything worse than any other politicians.

I only hope we can all have some perspective knowing that this primary season just starts. We should give all candidates a fair amount of opportunity to prove themselves. Otherwise, we only do ourself a disservice by loving Obama blindly and too passionately and by hating Hillary too ruthlessly without recognizing that she is still only a human being.

Anyway, I decide not join the echo chamber to verbally assassinate Hillary, even though I have criticized her so much before. I can sense at this very moment how much pressure she is under. We attack her now is almost like we attack someone who is just hit by the car and we are more than eager to give the person the final blow.
