Hillary Clinton does not feel she is owed the presidency...She has worked for the American people for the last 30 years for the American people. She has been thoroughly investigated and villafied by many people and what exactly has she done. Everything she said. Heath care for children. Help for veterans. She will help women.. She will get this country back on track. She has intelligence. As a women I am voting for hope, I am voting for Hillary. Not taking a chance on a smooth talking man who has yet to prove himself.

What are you winning with Obama? Hillary has proved she can deliver. She has proved when the going gets tough both personally and professionally she is strong. Where is Obama strong? He is inspirational as a preacher. He would be a great preacher. But president.. We have had an inexperienced one for 7 years, its too important now for us to hope the candidate can do it....the country is in a desperate mess.
From the economy, to the war, to health care, to our crumbling roads and bridges, our veterans..........Mr. Obama is not the president you watched on 24, this is real life and you need to choose wisely....... Besides that bill in Congress that lobbyist now must stand while taking a congress person to lunch (how ridiculous) what has he done? He won't do anything for you? Maybe he can in eight years after some experience but really would you let a 16 year old with a new drivers license drive a big rig truck? Give this man the presidency today? Never.......He is not ready....

i like how everyone seems to either be obama or clinton, and its either .. "oh obama sucks so its clinton all the way" or vice versa.. there are way to many great candidates out there that are blurring party lines to take care of the problems the country has and too many people seem too ignorant to see beyond the battle between 2 people. Anybody but hillary, because your right to an extent - we dont know what obama or anyone else can bring for sure (other than paul but you probably watch too much fox to get the facts on that one too). But there is one thing we do know, and thats hillary. You all know whats gonna happen if hillary gets elected.. and none of its good. How about looking at facts, facts that shoot down your candidate. THAT is the true test, because nobody is perfect, and a good candidate should be someone that you CANT find dirt on... ron paul is the only person running that can even come close to shining past his flaws to the point where nobody can attack him. Save the constitution, dont SPEND it...

I am glad for Hillary she had this moment. Do you honestly think not one male candidate has not had a moment like this? Men do cry even though they fight to not let anyone see this emotion. Clinton and Edwards have shown the people their pastion to help this country get out of this horable mess these past seven years have done to our Country. We need some one with strength, experience, and the knowledge of the government to start cleaning up the mess. She has someone who has experience and for advice like most presidents only have their cabinets. Bill Clinton was a good President and Bush has proved that for Clinton. This is a great advantgate with the Country in the shape it's in currently. We need someone that is for the people and not for their selves. I feel Clinton or Edwards are very capable of accomplishing the tough tasks at hand. They also have more experience and they are speaking from their hearts. Think of the three candidates and the background they came from and you will realize that you are gambling with our Country if you go to the third top democrat candidate.

I just think everyone's way off...if you read her book, you'd know that the passion she has for this country is true blue. Having read that I still didn't think I would cast a vote for her, because I wasn't sure it was the way I would vote--I consider myself moderate, leaning on the liberal side. I am leaning toward a vote for Hilary now, and not because I'm a woman or a party line voter. I think what she said today (although off-topic to the question) was real and honest. If that makes her a bad person (Bill choked up after the Columbine shootings...as opposed to Bush who sat, stone-faced) then I don't want to know who this country will elect. Frankly, it scares me a little!

If Bush had cried in front of those kids he would have been excoriated by the media.

      • Posted By: 2001snake @ 01/07/2008 8:52:33 PM

He did cry at least three times on National TV, and guess what no excoriated him.

        What is "excoriated"?

If you have to ask you shouldn't..........ever thought of looking up a word you don't know by yourself? or do you need to be told what to do? BTW: it means: to censure scathingly ....

The press took that picture of Bush: SECONDS after he got the news. His look didn't surprise me at all. He was IN SHOCK as we all were! Shock does not produce tear immediately. They come after you've let things sink in! And DON"T even compare these tears to ANYTHING on that day of mourning for our nation. HRC is only mourning her not being in FRONT RUN......don't compare apples to oranges!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!

Mikki - Shame on you! It is women like you more than any man that hold women back. That keep women make less than men, while working twice as hard! That keep women and children the largest group living in poverty. We do the world and humankind a disservice when we hold ANYONE back for reasons such as gender!

You go Hillary! Thanks for being genuine with us. Some people may say that you are cold, calculated, and fake. But let's just see them campaign like you. Everyone of us has a vision for this country. You've shown us what you can do with your vision! You've shown me, a high schooler, hope and change through your past endeavors. You're not perfect, and I would disdain you if you were, but you learn from those mistakes and make remarkable strides afterwards. Thank you for being there for us, your constituents, and I hope you make it as the president of the free world. I believe in. I'll keep fighting for you here in MN!

I do recall that the article did not mention that she cried; rather, tears swelled in her eyes. Also, I've had first-hand experience in her campaign. Like many here I was an Obama supporter. But this made me question my stance about him: How could we possibly know what he'll do when he's president? What if he makes a mistake? How will he handle it? The answer is we don't know. We know HIllary has moved towards bigger and better things after she's learned from mistakes. Look at her 15-year fight for getting healthcare for ALL Americans. Everybody else jumped in the bandwagon and they're thinking it was all their idea. She has a proven track record that Obama could only dream of having. Think about that.

To the person who wrote that the Republicans should be careful what they wish for in their efforts to get Obama ahead of Hillary. You are mistaken on two counts. First, it makes no difference to Republicans whether our candidate has to run against Hillary the Witch or Barack Hussein Obama. Neither can be elected. Hillary's negatives are way too plentiful and way too many liberal women could never pull the lever for her. On the other hand, how can anyone really think this country's voters will put a black man with the middle name Hussein in the leadership role of this great nation. As a staunch conservative, I just hope one of those two gets the nomination of the Democrats. While Edwards is also a socialist like Billary and BHO, he may be slick enough to win the votes of those weak-minded liberals who could never actually cast a vote for those two losers.

    • Posted By: TeacherKB @ 01/07/2008 7:12:05 PM

Wow...just WOW...you wouldn't vote for someone because their middle name just happens to be the same of a world terrorist/dictator? Unbelievable!

That's what's wrong with our world, in my opinion. Not voting for someone because she's a woman, or another because of a name assigned at birth (before anyone really knew of Saddam?). Truly remarkable!

      • Posted By: nbctjon @ 01/07/2008 7:28:39 PM

Don't forget, he's also Black - Republicans = scared of black people

        • Posted By: thevoiceof middleAmericaandreason @ 01/07/2008 7:42:42 PM

That's why Republicans have always done more for blacks when in office than the Dems. The Dems want to keep blacks dependent on government. Instead of Christ's way of teaching his flock to fish, the Dems want to control the blacks by enabling them with all their "social" programs. Condi Rice, Colin Power, Watts, etc. etc. are the true voices of the black people (even Cosby).

          • Posted By: militarybrat @ 01/07/2008 8:46:09 PM

By that resoning black republicans are scared of themselves!?!

      • Posted By: thevoiceof middleAmericaandreason @ 01/07/2008 7:29:42 PM

By the way, is your ability to reason, to comprehend, to be thoughtful always so shallow?

      • Posted By: thevoiceof middleAmericaandreason @ 01/07/2008 7:27:17 PM

It's scary if you really are a teacher because you don't seem intelligent enough to shape young minds. I never said I wouldn't vote for Barack because he is black and his middle name is tied to Islam. What I said was American voters will not. I'm a staunch conservative and I won't vote for a Democrat becuase the three leading candidates from that party are socialists. However, I have heard many white liberals (men and women) say they could never vote for Hillary or Barack. Try reading this at least twice before you give me some knee-jerk, emotional rebuttal.

  • Posted By: goldstarjanr @ 01/07/2008 8:32:38 PM

Thank you, Minnesota's Finest, for publishing those facts and figures regarding Obama, because he has missed being in his Senate seat a whole lot, and Hillary Clinton has made it a point to be in hers. How can any remotely intelligent person think that he is doing anything for this country except being out on the campaign trail? He was elected to be Senator and that should be his first and foremost priority. He doesn't even know how the Senate works because he hasn't been there enough to learn anything! Is that candidate material? I think not. And could the Iowa caucuses be any more wierd? They let college students who aren't even residents caucus, and then they can go back to their own home state and vote again. What's that all about? And I certainly that it would be a very dark day for this nation to put up a candidate for President named Barack Hussein Obama. Ask George Bush - Hussein was the enemy and the buddy of the terrorists, so how would history look if we followed up the administration that hosted 9-11 and the war in Iraq by electing another Hussein or Osama...er, Obama? Give me a break, Americans, can we keep this AMERICA????????????????

    • Posted By: JDK88 @ 01/07/2008 8:43:41 PM

So we've now been reduced to judging a person by his or her name? If an American president were to be named Barak Obama, or any other traditional Muslim (or African or Asian) name for that matter, we've somehow been reduced as a nation? Are we really that racist, ignorant and plain stupid? I guess we are.

Hillary is crying for herself; not for the country. Good riddens, win Obama!

  • Posted By: scrawfo @ 01/07/2008 8:31:04 PM

When I take a good look at this country I cry! Don't you? If you don't then you must be one of our past presidents that was stone cold walls... Look at Iraq , that we got from having stone cold wall presidents tha think about themselves. I think Hillary is human ,with emotions and feeling ,just like the rest of the normal human being not only of the United States of Americca But the World. I think Good is with her and that she can bring back the morales that this country has had for decades. Pledge alligence, prayer, "God we Trust" and everything. Cry Hillary because when I look at this world I cry too....

    • Posted By: xrazorwirex @ 01/07/2008 8:41:29 PM

lets all just cry about everything, thatl fix our 9 TRILLION dollar deficit, 50% taxations for the majority of citizens, lack of jobs that are leaving for china, a looming depression due to the dollars decreasing value, the thousands of americans that are being murdered each year due to millitary occupations in nations that we dont need, which feeds into a runaway spending train for the entire congress and house....

      GREAT solutions, keep it up.

  • Posted By: BizMom @ 01/07/2008 7:55:54 PM

To the Democrats (and the wavering) among us....... In thinking about the "real Hillary", let's decide if she is electable. In other words, if she were to be the chosen Democratic candidate, can she beat Romney or McCain? I think she would be more electable against the chosen Republican candidate than either Obama (too inexperienced) or Edwards (not taken seriously enough and perceived as soft). As a Democrat, I don't want or expect a perfect candidate: I want a credible, bright, savvy and motivated politician who can kick ass in the final election , because another four years of a Republican administration is not acceptable.

    • Posted By: Independent Jerry @ 01/07/2008 8:37:07 PM

Hillary is the least electable democrat of the top 3 still in the race. She would do more to energize the republicans and the independents to vote in the general election just to vote against her than any republican could do to energize their base. There is even a strong anti-Hillary vote within the democratic party. She is a polarizing figure, and we have already spent the last 28 years with either a Bush or Clinton in the White House.

  • Posted By: JDK88 @ 01/07/2008 8:35:39 PM

I find it curious that the majority of criticisms directed at Obama come from Democrats and frequently reference the belief that he could not win against any Republican candidate. Speaking as a convervative Christian who had been raised in a Republican household and had voted for Bush during his first election, I can definitively state that there is no way I would ever consider voting for any of the Republican candidates or Clinton. However, if Obama were to win the Democratic nomination, I would vote for him without hesitation, and I know many Republicans and independents who feel the same. Obama may not have Clinton's experience--which I actually view as a positive point in some ways--but he certainly has the ability to draw voters from across the board and without regard to party lines, which is something Clinton simply cannot do due to the polarized legacy she carries. Frankly, I find it difficult to have confidence in any candidate who does have a great deal of experience in Washington, as it most often seems to merely indoctrinate them into the same unilateral mode of thinking that dominates American politics--an ideology of division and paranoia that only serves to further special interests and extremists on both sides. Regardless of whether Obama has less experience than Clinton or any other candidate, he has at least demonstrated that he'd be more than capable of drawing from talent in both the Democratic and Republican parties. More importantly, he can at least make me feel as if there is some hope for American politics. Clinton cannot.

  • Posted By: sburn @ 01/07/2008 8:34:24 PM

My vote is going to be for Hiliary. I think it's time we had someone with experience leading our country and with experience comes emotion and human feelings. Obama is young, inexperienced and cannot and will not be able to run the country like someone with the politicial experience that HC has. Maybe in the next election, when he has some experience under his belt, he may be a viable candidate. So miss "O", save your billions for the next time.

  • Posted By: Now I See @ 01/07/2008 8:11:26 PM

It appears that Mrs. Clinton responds in kind to commentary made by the media. They said she needed to take charge of her campaign and go after Obama after Iowa, so what did we get a very loud Hillary Clinton on ABC's debate. They said she needs to be more human i.e. show vulnerability... so what happens today she gets a little misty eyed... on cue. Where is the authentic Hillary Rodham Clinton?

    • Posted By: Minnesota's Finest @ 01/07/2008 8:19:08 PM

It's understandable that she raised her voice. I would be pretty cranky after losing, getting four hours of sleep, making ten appearances, and getting tag-teamed on TV. You would be too. She's human, she's no robot. I have firsthand account of that when I went to the JJ Dinner in IA. Even though it was midnight, she still came to the stands to shake hands and greet us. Obama did no such thing for his supporters; he went to his afterparty.

      • Posted By: Now I See @ 01/07/2008 8:31:30 PM

I have no way of disproving your first hand account of Mrs. Clinton shaking your hand, so I want bother. However as for the loud response during the debate... well. There were many issues that came up throughout this campaign, remember that wasn't the first debate or the challenge coming from candidates, so I find it suspect that she chose that moment to raise her voice, after political commentary the night before said she must do so to remain competitive in N.H.

  • Posted By: akradoc @ 01/07/2008 8:30:23 PM

Maureen Dowd got it right. Hiliary thinks she's "owed" this by the American public. This is her bright and shining moment, her pay-off for all the years of humiliation at the hands of her hubby. She feels she deserves this more than anyone. That's quite different from the true patriot who feels that the presidency is a calling, a responsibility who, if given the chance to consider the personal sacrifice one must endure, would probably run the other way, FAST. Why else all the tears, all the emotion? Do you want a president who has a chip on her shoulder? The President is there to serve the electorate. The electorate is not there to give a presidential candidate something they thought was theirs to begin with.

latimes.com ??? Since 2001, Hillary Clinton has delivered $500 million worth of earmarks that have specifically benefited 59 corporations. 64% of those corporations provided funds to her campaigns through donations made by executives, board members, or lobbyists. Clinton has earmarked more than $2.3 billion in federal appropriations for projects.

I really really hope that informed citizens will realize that these primary elections are absolutely EVERY BIT as important as the general election. If we don't make the effort to go out and vote for the candidate who will produce REAL progress for this nation, then we will be stuck with the inexperienced guy who's talent lies in giving inspiring speeches. Please go and vote in the primaries!

Puh Leaze! I hope people see her for what she is--a maniuplator who will say anything to anyone hoping that we're all too dumb to realize she's simply a fake and a liar. And her comments about she "produces change" versus just talking about it is such baloney as well. She had carte blanche and failed miserably to "change" healthcare. She's is the problem. Not the solution. Vote for anyone else. No need to make a Clinton dynasty. Good riddance.

    • Posted By: Now I See @ 01/07/2008 8:26:20 PM

And this is the most important point to remember about Senators's Clinton argument on experience. You can have all the experience in the world, but sometimes the message can rejected if the audience don't like the messenger. Which is why Mrs. Clinton failed miserably with healthcare reform. She is a very intelligent woman, but she doesn't have a great deal of support inside the halls of Congress... sad, but true. There is a great deal of work to do in Washington on behalf of the citizens on this country, and this is the hour when we can't afford to wait another four years, while things remain stagnant.
