i think that hilary can take office and start changing the country for the better on the first day of office.where obama it would take years because he has no experence.hilary was involved when bill was in office. and there were plenty of jobs.now we don't have many jobs.thanks to bush.i am voting for hilary.

I've been reading all of your comments, which i find so dishonest you must be planted trash for a living.
President clinton left witha balanced buget with a surplus, totallt opposite of reagan. You are all on a smear Clinton campaign, including those of you giving your resons to vote for hilary.. Perhaps this country is so brain dead, it won't matter who we vote for. bush accomplished to poison our brains with so much fear, and lies, too many of you are stuck on stupid. What if his last name was Wong or Lee, Ashkenazi, do you think the next President would be Ponch villa. Just stupid all of you. What about voting record or all you all too enept to read....??? hmmm...I don't know where you've been caved up lately, but my state has the lowest margin of unemployement in history!...

"...an engaging, warm and witty woman, a first-class road-trip companion..." Is this writer employed by the Clinton campaign? Witty? Are we talking about the same Hilary Clinton who snidely remarked "I'd like to hear the answer to that?" when Obama was how he would implement change with so many former Clinton advisors assisting him? My question is why are there some many former Clinton advisors assisting Obama and not Hillary?

I went to the grocery store last night to pick up a few things. As is more and more common, I stood in line behind a person that had an arm load of soda, chips, boxed pizza, Marie Calendars meals, etc., and paid for all of it with a welfare card. I am sick and tired of giving my money to those who will not work and leech off society, and listening to the likes of Clinton appeal to those for votes. Hillary, you are correct. It is time for a big change - but not more socialism that you rely on for votes. Go back to NY, or Ark, or wherever you call home. But, not DC.

    • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 7:05:17 PM

How about you go on over to the Huckabee message board and nominate one of your own morons.

      • Posted By: ricknkris @ 01/07/2008 8:07:05 PM

Now that is intelligent. What is your point??

        • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 8:24:29 PM

My point is that you don't sound like a person who is really interested in any dmocrat for president and should save your comments for the main election and let us dems figure out who best represents us.

    • Posted By: nbctjon @ 01/07/2008 6:44:38 PM

What is a welfare card - I've never seen on of those? You sure it wasn't an ATM or debit card/

      • Posted By: ricknkris @ 01/07/2008 8:08:17 PM

No it was not an ATM or Debit card. Come to the blue state of Illinois and you will see an abundance of welfare cards.

      • Posted By: ricknkris @ 01/07/2008 8:06:27 PM

It is an Illinois Icard - same as welfare stamps.

People pick on Hillary when she is cold--People pick on Hillary when she is warm--They pick on her if she smiles too much.--They pick on her for what she wears. Who are these sophomoric people? Hillary has proven herself time and time again. She is not a personal pissing stump. She is a leader, a scholar, a public servant, a mother, a wife and hopefully the next President of the USA. More then most her critics could ever be!

I don't hear anyone disrespecting Oprah for crying on her show.

    • Posted By: Katie1974 @ 01/07/2008 5:13:21 PM

      Oprah isn't running for president.

      • Posted By: skullduggery1 @ 01/07/2008 5:25:45 PM

Thank you!! nobody cares if somebody cry's, as long as its not the leader of the free world you idiot

        • Posted By: 2001snake @ 01/07/2008 8:20:07 PM

So what do you say to, Bush CRYING at least three times on National TV?

    • Posted By: smokified @ 01/07/2008 5:44:17 PM

That was probably the dumbest most irrelevant comment I have read here so far, This is why women were not alowed to vote 50 years ago. Maybe they should just scratch Iowa off the list all together.

    • Posted By: SC_GOP @ 01/07/2008 5:09:48 PM

And Oprah isn't running for the office of most powerful nation either. A president is called for much higher standard than an average Joe. If she cannot stand the pressure on the campaign trail now, how can she stand for the pressure leading a nation as divided as it is right now?

  • Posted By: Katie1974 @ 01/07/2008 4:57:21 PM

Look, I almost teared up too, but then I realized how flaky I was for being turned over just because she choked up. I supported Hilary at first, but since she started losing she's shown angry Hilary and tearful Hilary all in the space of a few days. I just don't know what to think... there have been many female leaders (Margaret Thatcher, Bhutto, Gandhi) who never had to resort to tears... and as a woman myself, I remember my dad used to tell me to cry in any situation where I didn't get what I wanted (I was having financial aid trouble in college), because no one could stand to see a woman cry... I choked up in the aid office and i worked. The power of a woman choking up is huge, but please let's not let it decide our election.

        From Wikipedia:
"Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi (Hindi: ?????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????? ??????????????? Indir?? Priyadar??in?? G??ndh??) (19 November 1917 - October 31, 1984) was the Prime Minister of India for three consecutive terms from 1966 to 1977 and for a fourth term from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. She was India's first and to date only female prime minister."

      • Posted By: hannaht @ 01/07/2008 5:42:30 PM

She was probably referring to Indira Gandhi, a former Indian Prime Minister - who was, in fact, female.

I really don't think it ever crossed the Queen's mind that she might lose any of these contests, let alone be in the situation in which she finds herself today. I found her emotional display to be so fake it was funny. If you think that wasn't discussed, debated and perhaps even polled before it happened, I'd love to sell you my oceanfront land in Kentucky!
The most disturbing part of it was hearing her whine about "how hard" this all is and "how tired" she is. Just how HARD does she think being President is? How hard do you think it is to be the leader of the free world in these perilous times?
Whether you vote for him or not Fred Thompson said it best:
"When we're sitting across the table from our worst enemies, who do you want sitting there negotiating for our country? That's the guy you should vote for!"

  • Posted By: an-artist @ 01/07/2008 4:17:49 PM

please. this is just as scripted and calculated as everything else she's done. she's now playing the sympathy/emotional female card. make no mistake about it, hillary clinton is a robot. she will do whatever she feels necessary to capitalize on the latest poll, be it gain a southern accent, use hip-hop vocab, or cry some tears.

Great emotional moment for Hillary, with war almost breaking out in Iran, just yesterday when Iranian boats attacked us warships, that just reminds us we need strong leader like hillaRY.If obama gets nomination which I seriously doubt,I will vote for huckabee or mmccain, I feel hillaryis stronger than huckabee on military and is almost equal to mccain.I am liberal on domestic issues but a little conservative on national defense. The jewish and hispanic vote will overhemlinly go for hillary in newyork,,calif and florida among democratic primary voters. If obama gets nominee gets nominee I will vote for mccainin heart beat, but it is not going to happen you see me being form claif, and v oters in newyork and florida are much more educted, and vote with their brains not with their hearts, unlike those dome hick from iowa and new hamphire, have many friend that have alrezdy voted absentee for hillary in calif. were she has 35 point lead so its over for barack.Happy newy year everybody.

Dave Weinberg- you and/or your friends in California are very cofused or are liars as the absentee ballots are being sent out in California this week. There is no possible way they voted absentee already, and I am sure that 35 point lead she had has evaporated like her tears did today.

Dave Weinberg, You or your California friends are either confused or a liar. The absentee ballots are being sent out this week of Jan. 7 so there is no possible way they voted for Hillary. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080106/ap_on_el_pr/early_voting
I am almost sure that the 35 point lead you mention has evaporated like her tears did today.

I also feel this is a political stunt. As a female, I can see right through it. Act all mushy and try to get what you want (in her case, votes). I know she keeps saying she has lots of experience, but she was the wife of the president for 8 years, not the president. My husband is a dentist and I can't say I have experience in dentistry because I am married to him. It is a shakey stance to take.

    • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 8:15:32 PM

First of all it is not her stance. Go to http://www.selectsmart.com/president/2008/comparethem.html and learn where she is on the issues. Secondly, you are definately not a dentist but Hillary is for sure a politician.

    • Posted By: ajackson @ 01/07/2008 7:51:10 PM

Women know and understand eachother---better than men and I am a man, but you see right through her "political tears"----Just not going to work on the majority of American People...... She is a fake---- Wish is was not so----but it is a fact..........

    • Posted By: TeacherKB @ 01/07/2008 7:29:47 PM

You could say that if you were is hygenist, which is somewhat how she operated. She was very much involved and hands on in political affairs during those 8 years.

      • Posted By: chargersfan @ 01/07/2008 7:41:34 PM

NOT EVEN CLOSE>>>> A hygienist still has to go to school and EARN a degree and keep their liscense up. Just standing by watching how someone operates does NOT make you have a degree!!!

    • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 7:29:57 PM

  • Posted By: Now I See @ 01/07/2008 8:15:18 PM

I'm concerned that Senator Clinton is unable to show her authentic self. She is very much influenced by political commentary. After her loss in Iowa, they said she needs to go more aggressively after Senator Obama on the idea of experience. What did we get... an extremely loud Hillary Clinton during the ABC debate, while Obama kept his cool. After the debate they said she needs to show her humanity, be more vulnerable... so what did we get today... a very misty eyed Hillary 'on cue' I might add. Where is the authentic Hillary Rodham Clinton? Where?

  • Posted By: 1611biblethumper @ 01/07/2008 4:48:56 PM

The B-itch is a faker. Her tears are as fake as she is. Ron Paul cares more this nation than any other candidate for president. Vote for the most consistent candidate, Congressman Ron Paul.

It will be unfortunate if the 'teary upwelling" that was expressed in concern for the future of our nation is presented by the media as emotionality for politics or for potential political gains

  • Posted By: Mattie*Jay @ 01/07/2008 7:39:42 PM

I think that HC wants to be president so badly that she will do whatever it takes to get there. She is the most disingenuous candidate (or person, for that matter) that it has ever been my displeasure to witness. She has tried the Southern Drawl in the South, the "I'm likable" thing, played the Woman Card, uses her husband's credibility as her own, and now THIS??? PLEASE!!!!! Anyone who can't see through this charade or who has been duped by her blatant BS campaign ought to have their voter registration revoked. She wants to be president, and THAT'S IT. She doesn't give a crap about anyone but herself....have we forgotten Watergate? She is the sleazy mastermind of the Clinton family. I was a supporter of Bill, but she really strikes me the wrong way. SHE is the poster child for what is wrong with America. Wake up all you Hillary supporters. If we want to turn America around, start with electing someone BESIDES Hillary.

    • Posted By: cyccmgirl @ 01/07/2008 8:09:35 PM

I couldn't agree more. Assuming that the woman who asked the question that got the tears rolling wasn't, in fact, a plant by Hillary's people, giving Hillary an opportunity to show her "emotional" side, her tears appear to be nothing more than the tears of an insanely ambitious woman who is afraid the presidency is slipping out of her grasp.

  • Posted By: Minnesota's Finest @ 01/07/2008 8:09:03 PM

Senator Obama has missed over 27% of Senate votes this season, compared to Senator Clinton's 8%. Since September, he has missed 80% of votes.
Clinton has had time and energy for HER campaign and to take care of her CONSTITUENTS. And people say that Obama is selfless and Clinton is cold and selfish. Obama is too concerned with the elections to take care of Illinois. How unfortunate that we may have a president to will be too concerned with his interests than with the issues of his voters.

THe real racists and sexist are those staunch democrats who would never vote for a black or a woman, all the while they are accusing repubs of being sexist and bigoted. So they will vote for Edwards, the big time litigation lawyer, who made millions off of lawsuits. Not that there is anything wrong with wealth, or the pursuit of wealth, and a good lawyer is hard to find. But I hate rich lawyers who turn into politicians and then vote to tax struggling middle class to get welfare dollars. Then they initiate class warfare, and get poor voters to hate rich folks. Forget the fact that he is supremely wealthy, and charged millions to give a speech about "poverty." The southern good ole boy democrats would happily vote for this idiot.

How long did this "pouting/tearing" take place? less then 60 seconds? less then 30 seconds?? I think that we all need to take a breather and realize we are being sucked into the media machine......This is a non-event. Hillary showed emotion, OMG alert the press!!!! Are we going to alerted if Obama starts dancing? Or making out with his wife?? Will it make him unfit to be president?? This is ridiculous!!!!

  • Posted By: ccole58 @ 01/07/2008 8:06:12 PM

I think that she is a phoney liberal that would do this country a lot of harm if elected. Kind of reminds me of "old SLICK Willie". Tells them what she thinks they want to hear, not what she believes. Lookin for sympathy?

  • Posted By: gsirod @ 01/07/2008 8:06:05 PM

Hillary is a person who has spent her life trying to help those that cannot help their selves. Look at her record. Her work ethic is unmatched by anyone in this campaign. Her life is about making change and she is compassionate about it. I would much rather see a tear of compassion in Hillary's eye than the smirk on George Bush's face. If a man would have shed a tear there would not have even been a comment. She is human and the Press and Americans have unjustly been tearing her apart. If you televised the experiences and accomplishments of George Bush and Al Gore in the last election, George Bush would not even come close to Al Gore in their past accomplishments and look at what we NOW have. The Americans went for the person that "talked about change". There has definitely been change since the Americans went for the person that "talked about change" but unfortunately it has been in the wrong direction. We all know what Al Gore has since done. Can you imagine if he would have been elected president the positive change he would have made in America. Hillary is ready for the challenge, we just have too many people in America that are threatened by HER ability to get things done. Edwards makes a comment that she is not tough enough to be a Commander-in-chief because she shed a tear of compassion, what kind of a person is he? Is that who we want as president? Obama says he did not support the war. WE as Americans should question that. We had grave information (whether right or wrong) that our nation was threatened by the use of a tyrants Nuclear weapons. What would Obama do, wait until they attacked us? With the information that was provided and after 9-11 everyone should have voted for the war. Hillary is tough and people know that but she is also compassionate. Maybe if there were more compassionate people in the White House America would not be in the mess it is in today. Is America ready for a repeat of the last election. Unquestionably the Republicans of course want Obama to win because they know they can beat him. In Iowa, Republicans went in and caucused for Obama because they knew they would beat him in the General election when they could go in and then vote Republican. Don???t gamble on America???s future. Stop tearing up candidates who have the ability to make such a positive difference in todays world.

  • Posted By: Minnesota's Finest @ 01/07/2008 8:02:52 PM

One of the things that keeps me from voting for Obama is the fact that he has not gone through a rigorous series of criticisms other than Hillary. Everyone lets him get away with beign vague and sketchy, while Hillary is vilified when she's the one making detailed plans. It makes one think that he has no plans. What will he do under pressure? We've seen Hillary take hits from all sides, yet she's still here, stronger and more willful to be president. Who will take the courage to call Obama out other than Hillary? Are you guys dumbing your standards down for him?

  • Posted By: Jolly @ 01/07/2008 7:27:42 PM

If a man had teared up, using similar words, the media and voters would call him a wimp. A commander in chief has to be stronger than this.
