Obama? What is this country coming to? You want change? Obama is the wrong change for this country. As a taxpayer of the State of Illinois, I am outraged that he was elected to be the Senator from our state, and he hasn't been Senator for one day. SInce the day he was sworn in, he has been running to be President, and we the taxpayers of Illinois, are paying him to do a job he is not doing. He has no experience, has done little or nothing for the State of Ilinois or for anyone for that matter. He gave a speech at a Democratic convention-that's not enought to make him a candidate for President. This country is already becoming a third world nation - what do you think it would become under a President named Obama? Next time, there will be a Rodriguez, then a Gonzalez, etc, etc, Wise up, Americans. We had it real good under the Clinton administration -REAL GOOD. Bush screwed things up bigtime, and no Obama and Oprah WInfrey are going to get it straightened out. What kind of respect do you think Obama would earn from foreign countries. None. He talks big and that's all he can do. Hillary Clinton has worked hard for many years for this country, in many capacities, and she has earned the right to be the Democratic candidate. I am proud to stand up behind her and be counted because we are AMERICANS and we need an AMERICAN President. If the Democrats don't nominate Hillary Clinton, they are nuts, and Obama will never win against the Republicans. The people of this country who are voting for Obama are delusional, and young and can't figure it out. VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This comment is proof that bigotry is alive and well in this country. Thank you for proving your own stupidity and ignorance. A last name does not a president make. Bush the 1st wasn't nearly as bad as W. Who's to say that Hillary wouldn't be exponentially worse that Bill. A name is not what you elect someone on. Character, on the other hand, is. So, my bone-headed friend, if a Gonzales, Obama, Hussien, or Weiner can do the job well....why the heck not? You probably didn't vote for Dukakis because of his name, either...who knows, if there were less people like you, he might have been elected and there would have been no Bush Legacy card for W to get elected upon. Strap on your thinking cap, my dear bone head.

I continue to believe that Hillary's much-touted healthcare overhaul was more gestapo than American. She wanted to make it a crime to go to a doctor outside the "government system." The patient and the doctor would be fined and maybe put in jail if they tried to do business outside the healthcare system she wanted to put into place. Even Europeans (whose healthcare is as bad as what our veterans and medicare patients have to put up with) can go to a private doctor if they get fed up with six-month to forever waiting periods for surgery. If something like a democratic healthcare plan is put into place, we will all have to go to Thailand or Mexico for surgery if we want it any time this decade. Wow, so Hillary is a woman who has emotions. Big deal. It was probably scripted like everything else she does.

This is like crying to get out of a ticket. Use whatever is available to you and if that doesn't work, try something else. If a leader is going to cry over this, what's going to happen in a real crisis while meeting with world leaders??? Is shedding tears going to persuade other leaders or is it going to make our leadership look weak and vulnerable?

I have not decided who to vote for yet, and I'm not against female leadership. There are a lot of women out there that can run circles around our male leaders with their brains and smarts. It would be nice to see her use her brain instead of tears to persuade voters. The heat isn't even on yet..... that doesn't come until she would be in office. She just moved down a notch in my opinion and others I've talked to also. Buck up Hillary!

You guys in the press kill me. Hillary Clinton sheds a tear and you guys come running. Three days before the election, she wanted media attention. Did she get it? Oh, boy DID SHE! She wanted her face on television, newspapers and the news magazines for Sunday and Monday. Will she get it? Oh, brother! You reporters are really something. Instead of being the Citadel of freedom, you let yourselves get played by a POLITICIAN!!

I love hearing Clinton supporters say they don't want to "go backwards" anymore. That is exactly why Clinton won't win the nomination. Reagan left the healthiest economy this country has ever seen and by the time Slick Willy the Liar was done, our country was in terrible economic shape. Electing Hillary would be a huge step backward for this country.

Get your facts straight. Turn off the Rush Limbaugh brainwashing network and do a little real research for yourself. The fact is Reagan and his cold war military escalation was either going to bankrupt the Soviet Union or the U.S. Luckly for us it was the Soviets first. But our deficit ballooned. Under the Clinton admistration he was able to balance the budget and even create a surplus. That was quickly wiped out by our current president and his personal religous inspired quest. Thanks but no thanks. Wm. Hughes Ca.

Goldstarjanr, I'm sure Mrs. Clinton appreciates her xenophobic base. Good job.

Hilary is a human being who deserves our respect. She has proven that she is smart, tough and knows how to get along with others who may have different opinions in order to make things happen. She shows up to work, she votes on important issues, she sees issues for all their complexity, not just black and white sound bites. She knows Washington and how to get things done in the capital. I hope she doesn't feel bad that she teared up over her passion to lead our country; there is nothing to be ashamed of over passion to do the right thing. People love to bash her, but I wish they would stop and look at all she has accomplished and her ability to work WITH others. That is what makes her a great leader and will make her a great president!

  • Posted By: hrdchgr68 @ 01/07/2008 7:56:07 PM

I am sure she would do well. But... as the readyforchange member posted before me, our country is being laughed at by other nations towards our chosin leadership. What this country needs is a firm leader with experience. No whinning aloud. How can the president show sadnes in front of his nation? A leader must be strong! If you are weak in the eyes of your people, you have failed them as a leader.

Does anyone remember how many times Dubya teared up and his voice crackled when he spoke publically about whatever issues he was raising at the time and trying to appear like a caring man...even though he isn't? No one gave him a hard time about that...the media and everyone else thought it was touching!! And I love the reminder someone else mentioned about Dubya's reaction to the 9/11 attack when he was reading to elementary school kids...talk about a lack of leadership and inappropriate response! How many HOURS did it take for him to come on the air after the attack to assure the American people? Double standards for woman still exist in the U.S. and some of the hardest people on women are other women!!

Will voter's get upset if Barak sheds a tear? Or will that be seen as a strong man who can show his feelings? It's time for a woman president and we have a very qualified candidate. Men have already screwed up this country. That people, is the turning point! VOTE HILLARY for a real change!

    • Posted By: MIKKI @ 01/07/2008 7:05:06 PM

LET ME SHARE A FACT WITH YOU: HILLARY WILL NOT BE THE 1ST WOMAN TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES BECAUSE THERE WILL NEVER BE A WOMAN PRESIDENT. I AM A WOMAN, AND SAY THIS WITH FAITH BECAUSE PRESIDENTS ARE ORDAINED BY GOD AND THE BIBLE CLEARLY TELL US THAT WOMAN SHALL DESIRE TO RULE OVER MAN BUT WILL NOT! SO CALL ME A BIBLE THUMPER OR WHATEVER, I KNOW THE WORD AND YOU CAN BELIEVE A WOMAN WILL NOT BE PRESIDENT. HILLARY PROOVED WITH HER TEARS THAT WOMEN ARE NURTURERS AND MEN ARE LEADERS. WOMEN ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE EMOTIONAL, THAT'S HOW WE ARE CREATED AND I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT A WOMAN ON THE THRONE CRYING WOULD CAUSE ALL THE VULTURES TO SWOOP IN FOR THE FEEDING. OSAMA WOULD COME OUT OF HIDING, SADAAM WOULD RISE FROM THE GRAVE, CRAZY IRAN WOULD DO MORE THAN TAUNT OUR WARSHIPS, AND WE WOULD ALL BE WEARING BOMB GEAR TO THE LOCAL GROCERY STORE. WOMEN CAN BE INSTRUMENTAL AS HILLARY WAS WHEN SHE WAS SUPPORTING BILL, AND THE SAME WAY SHE DIDN'T CRY IN PUBLIC ABOUT HIS AFFAIRS, SHE SHOULD HOLD THE TEARS FOR THE PILLOW. THE TERRORIST ARE JUST WAITING TO POUNCE WITHOUT EVEN BRINGING THE WOMAN A KLEENEX. WE NEED CHANGE BUT WE CERTAINLY DON'T NEED HORMONES AND TEARS FLARING UP WHEN SOMEONE STEP ON HER TOES OR LEAVE HER IN THE DUST SUCH AS WHAT OBAMA IS DOING. AND FOR THE RECORD THE NAME OBAMA IS TOO CLOSE TO OSAMA. GOD FORBID WE BLINK WHILE WRITING AND VOTE FOR OSAMA. LORD WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMMING TO?

You have much wisdom and insight and follow the scripture well...I am happy and glad that you are telling people the TRUTH---- She is NOT the answer and I agree-----What is the World coming to? We need HELP.......God help us........ She is a Snake in the grass...How can she run for the highest office in our land and lead us when she can't manage her own household affairs.......I am not casting judgement, but stating the facts----- We have all sinned and fall short-----I am one of those, but I am not running for the Office of the President Of The United States of America.......

  • Posted By: ashleycat @ 01/07/2008 7:54:25 PM

Hilary i sa phony, and a tax and spend liberal. Say what you will about any of the other candidates, but she is shrewd and manipulative, and is resorting to these phony tactics cuz Obama kicked her butt in Iowa. She has been all but assured by many dems that she will get the nomination, but people see through her.

  • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/07/2008 7:34:46 PM

How long did this "pouting/tearing" take place? less then 60 seconds? less then 30 seconds?? I think that we all need to take a breather and realize we are being sucked into the media machine......This is a non-event. Hillary showed emotion, OMG alert the press!!!! Are we going to alerted if Obama starts dancing? Or making out with his wife?? Will it make him unfit to be president?? This is ridiculous!!!!

    • Posted By: chargersfan @ 01/07/2008 7:47:43 PM

It's not really that ridiculous. It totally proved to me how calculating she can be. I've enjoyed this thread..It's been amazing to see some insight to what others think and how manipulated some people get! I loved what one reader said "There AINT NO CRYING IN BASEBALL"......there aint no crying PERIOD when you are in leadership. Take it by the horns and suck it up!!!!

      • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/07/2008 7:54:10 PM

Perhaps, being calculating is a good thing when dealing with different crisis's in the world. I mean really, there is nothing wrong with winning, especially when it is for the good of our country. I say , if she can win she will win, and more power to her. Our advisories need to be manipulated.

  • Posted By: southernwoman @ 01/07/2008 7:15:40 PM

She has shown more emotion ,over fear of losing to Obama ,than she ever did when her husband's philandering became public. It seems a bit too contrived for me. I think that she's a self serving, manipulative, ice queen!

    • Posted By: 2001snake @ 01/07/2008 7:53:41 PM

With this comment of yours Ms, Southernwoman: What would you do if your husband was a philanderer? You would probably put on a brave face for your family and friends and suck it up! So don't talk unless you've been there. She was pretty brave to put on an Ice Queen Face (as you call it) for the American People, for her family (i call that a fighter).
We should all fear her loss to Obama. At least with her we know she has a lot of intelligent people waiting to advise and assist in running the country when and if necessary. You need to find out who is too contriving, self serving, and manipulative.

  • Posted By: readyforchange @ 01/07/2008 7:43:35 PM

Intelligent people, make intelligent comments... Unlike the comment made just before mine. If you care about this nation, in which you live, stop being a simple, woman hater, and start using your mind. Try opening it. Try listening to this extremely intelligent and emotionally tough woman, and imagine a national leadership that could bring the U.S. back to a place of global leadership. We've become a laughing stock in other countries due to our current "leadership." We have a moral obliagtion to elect the best man, or woman, for the job. There are multiple candidates, right now, who speak so articulately, but this woman, (Hillary)... I fully believe... She will GET THINGS DONE !!!!

Just please, please listsen closely to these debates. We definitely need a change, but we have a real oppotunity now, to chose for a real, and positive improvement in the state of our nation.

    • Posted By: chargersfan @ 01/07/2008 7:53:37 PM

our nation BECAME the laughing stock because of BILL....he started it...don't change the subject here...we are having a rather fun conversation about how great auntie cry baby would make a great LEADER...NOT!!!

    • Posted By: dhay @ 01/07/2008 7:50:57 PM

      so true

  • Posted By: CorbinB2 @ 01/07/2008 7:53:28 PM

A person can speak and bring about great motivation, but when the chips are down, you HAVE to be able to do the job from day one and especially now. I'm not saying HIllary is better than Obama or vice versa, but there is no point of reference and nothing coming from Obama as of yet that says with any kind of strategy what he will do. If he can back up the motivation with some real plans that show some thought and even the slightest chance they would work and makes sense, he should be the nominee for the Dems.

If he can't come up with anything substantial soon though, he is going to get into trouble fast and get moved onto the VP selection list.

  • Posted By: shawnu @ 01/07/2008 7:36:16 PM

Hilary you got my vote for sure. I do not see anyone else who can bring our country back to what it was before President Bush came into power. Also I do not want someone like Obama be the President of our country whose middle name is Hussein which is a muslim name. Why is he trying to hide his middle name? By the way, what religion does he follow?

    • Posted By: chargersfan @ 01/07/2008 7:51:34 PM

OH BROTHER!! are you really going here with this one???? what our country was before Bush got here was FAKE! How do you think 9/11 happened...becasue we were all in la la land thinking everyone LOVED the USA.....Clinton LET things happen while keeping us glued to the set of what moral values ARENT. the country BEFORE Bush..hmmm!!! SEX ,lies and cover ups by a Pres...yeah good one buddy...while the world hates us and plans attacks! yeah keep your head dug in a hole..that's where I want to stay for another 8 years!!!

  • Posted By: fireball777 @ 01/07/2008 6:35:31 PM

MF finest and NE patriots were probably in Canada or somewhere else when the Hillbillies ran the White House. The only good thing they did was to leave the country alone for 8 years. They did nothing remarkable establish anything to be remembered by. The only thing they are remembered by are Monica, the Stained dress, the Failed National Health insurance and a lot more scandals.

    • Posted By: Minnesota's Finest @ 01/07/2008 7:50:39 PM

And you were probably where? Mars? At least I was near enough the US to know what else went on. I'm sorry I had to stoop down to your level but it had to be done. If you can't produce a substantiated then I can't listen to you. I'm sorry if all your conversation experience comes from reading tabloids and editorials.

Back to the topic. The Lewinski scandal was over-sensationalized. I'm not justifying the issue, but please, if you're going to pick a negative, pick one that pertains to her career, not her personal life. A wife's role is different from her job. She doesn't exactly bake cookies for her constituents. The failed health care issue was because of stiff societal opposition. Now EVERYBODY is for it. Just shows what 15 years of fighting passionately for Americans will get you, I'm sure you don't know what that is like. I really don't care if you make snide comments, just at least give it substance; it's good for you, and it doesn't make you look like an uneducated "Hillbilly" as you like to put it.

  • Posted By: jhed0 @ 01/07/2008 7:50:01 PM

So when Hillary gets tired and pressed hard she tears up.
Hmm, so if (God forbid) Hilleroid becomes Pres and she went to negotiate in the Mid-East and they were mean to her after many hours of negotiating and she tears up there goes any position of power.
This is but one position she could find herself in with any/all skilled negotiator taking advantage of this appearance of weakness.
There is no problem having a woman President, JUST NOT THIS ONE.

No, it is spelled like this - "you're",maybe you should have stayed in school.
Please do not call names while hiding behind your computer screen in your mother's basement. It is very unflattering.
