I say good for Hillary! How many of the people voting , how many of the under-exercising fat-ass Americans could keep up the pace of this campaign. Hillary is real, she is smart, and she knows what and how to work within the framework of our government. Change is going to come no matter who wins- Bush is finished. Change is not a platform it is merely a verb describing a fact! Vote HILLARY

Senator Clinton hasrepeatedly stated that she is ready for "the tough job" starting on day one. What stress she and the other candidates have encountered on the campaign trail certainly is a glimmer of what demands are placed in the office of the President of the United States. I fear that if these past months have been so stressful, what emotionalstamina does shepossess that canassureme that shecouldhandle crisis as the Commander-in-Chief of this nation. Emotional endurance is a quality essential to the Office of Presidency and quite frankly, Sneator Clinton demonstrated a weaknessthat shouldmakemany Americans pause withconcernabout her qualifications to lead this complex nation.

Hillary Clinton is frankly not capable of handling the mess the Bush Adminstration has created! We need someone is tough enough to deal with the fanatics abroad. I don't think her crying in itself disqualify her, but her sincerity to this nation leaves a lot to be desired. I think Barack Obama is the man for the job!

    • Posted By: nbctjon @ 01/07/2008 6:58:24 PM

We need a President who will hold the current administration responsible for the mess they created. I have not heard any of the current candidates say anything about this. The first candidate with enough courage to go after Bush, Cheney, and their collaborators may get a big bump in the polls.

I certainly see your point but he doesn't look tough enough fo me - I'm thnking more like Mike Ditka.

Hillary comes across as fake and the crying today just drove that home. If Hillary gets the Democratic nomination, I will give my vote to another party in November.

Hillary's tears are the sincere tears of frustration -- frustration that people are too stupid to give her that to which she is entitled.

  • Posted By: drdre @ 01/07/2008 6:48:25 PM

Hillary Clinton cannot expect to be elected President of the United States based on her experience...What experience is she claiming? I think todays shows that she is not capable of leading this nation who has so many enemies, thanks to the current Commander in Chief! We need someone is not only strong and sincere, but also touch enough to deal with the fanatics like the Iranians, Iraqis and all others who would love to sink us below the sea! I truly believe Mr. Obama is only logical choice...

    • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 6:57:25 PM

Obama has even less experience than Hillary - he just looks better in a necktie.

  • Posted By: whiterock @ 01/07/2008 6:56:54 PM

This isn't about not being able to take the pressure...it's about being a real human being! The Queen of England didn't even cry over Diana's death...she's not human. I think this showed Hillary's human side, something everyone has criticized her for not showing and it revealed her passion for why she's doing it. Most of the male candidates are running for prez out of pure hubris and testosterone! No one gave Dubya a hard time when he broke down in tears throughout his presidency when talking publically.

  • Posted By: townfan @ 01/07/2008 6:55:58 PM

I think we all need to look real close at our candidates, not run along with the mainstream media coverage, to see what they are all about. For the last 20 years our government has been headed by either a Bush or a Clinton. The Clinton's are very calculating politicians and I personally have problems with them. I will not fall for the tears. We need to listen carefully to the words.

I feel sympathy for Hillary Clinton. Having said that, showing emotion today doesn't mean she will be a different person from this day forward. It doesn't change the fact that she is part of the Washington establishment, that she has taken heaps of money from lobbyists, that she parses every word to align with focus group tested responses. You can regret who you are, or what you have become, but that doesn't change the person you are.

  • Posted By: Saltydog_0 @ 01/07/2008 6:54:07 PM

It comes as no surprise that Hillary shows a "new" face following her loss in Iowa and her drop in the New Hampshire polls. Maybe her show of emotion was genuine, maybe not. However, I would bet the farm that it would not have happened had she held her place as the frontrunner in these primaries. No doubt she has consulted the consultants who consult the constituents and determined that a show of vulnerability would increase her standing in the 18 to 50 year old female demographic by between 1.08 and 6.23 percentage points.

Tomorrow you can expect her to show her playful side as the fine people of Mire and Cloister Consulting have determined that dancing a jig lasting 2.8 seconds will increase her approval rating among high school and college students by as much as 7.04 percent. I can't wait.

Hillary is as transparent a politician as you will ever come across. She is a political machine, and that's no compliment. Data from polls, focus groups and political braintrusts are input while contrived emotions and vetted tag lines are output. She operates with the efficiency and regularity that Microsoft has aspired to since Windows 1.0.

I guess that's what some people want. It makes them feel safe. The problem is, we've had it before and it doesn't benefit the American people. We don't need someone who is an expert at playing it safe and responding to the day to day changes of the political winds. We need someone with vision and a sense of purpose. Most of all, we need someone with integrity. There are enough sycophants in Washington who outwardly pander to voters while pandering to special interests behind the scenes. It's time for a change. It's time for some authenticity. Vote Obama!

Look, there is a time and place for crying. In public isn't it -- especially when you're claiming to be presidential material. Yes, I am sure everyone cries, but in tough times for the good of the country, you show strength. You show you can pull yourself together.

  • Posted By: marinewifevet @ 01/07/2008 6:40:17 PM

Hillary's tears or so-called tears is just for show. She is trying to make people, more specifically women, feel like they can relate to her when all she is doing it for is the almighty vote. She is behind Obama and deserves to be because he is definitely better than the two. I am a woman and am not voting for her just because she is a woman. Actually, I am not voting for her period! Everyone knows that women are emotional and take things to heart which is a great reason for her not to be in office. Someone needs to be in the Oval Office who is level headed and looking out for the best interest of Americans and this country. We need a President who is going to start fixing things here at home such as the abundance of homeless and unsecure borders instead of trying to fix everyone else's problems.

    • Posted By: ARChicago @ 01/07/2008 6:53:02 PM

Women who think of other women the way that you do shouldn't vote - period.

  • Posted By: PepperPie @ 01/07/2008 6:52:03 PM

I, for one, am not understanding why the newsweek article or anyone would consider what happened on Hillary's face being "too emotional". She kept it together beautifully while still sharing her heart. I am more convinced than ever that a woman needs to lead this country in the next term. Go for it Hillary. I voted for you in 2000 and I'll do it again in 2008 only this time it will be for the "big chair".

Hillary's tears are saying give me a break. I'm a woman.
She should be given a break like the ones she gave to the long time White house Travel Office staff that she fired in mass, or the military officers whom she disrespeced by using them as bus boys at White House parties and whom she also denied entrance to the White House on official matters if they were in uniform. There are many other stories of how she crushed others, so as they say, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.
Finally, her concern about the US moving backward in her mind is translated as the feminist movement loosing momentum. Can you imagine who her Cabinet and other leading government posts appointees would be.

  • Posted By: democrat1960 @ 01/07/2008 6:50:24 PM

For someonewho hasbeen proclaiming that she is the only candidate ready to handle the WhiteHouse ondayone, I find her emotional display accompanied bywords lamenting the degree of difficulty she faces in campaigning contradictory. If she were the President of the United States, she would have a lot more stress and multiple issues confronting her as the Commander-in-Chief. Sorry, but today Clinton only revealed that she lacks the emotionalstamina that the duites of the President requires.

  • Posted By: DJ31 @ 01/07/2008 6:48:16 PM

If she breaks down from the pressures of the campaign trail how can she, with her nonexistant experience, be expected to govern the most powerful nation in the world? Crocodile tears for sympathy have no place in the Presidency! Face facts she's NEVER governed a city, county, state, let alone the highest elected office in the world! Human emotions effect us all from time to time but "Crying for votes" Give me a break!! How coincidental that the 16 undecided voters happen to be women. Can you say staged?? Sympathy is in the dictionary Hillary! If Americans are smart, your cheap tricks for votes will have you bringing up the rear where you belong!

  • Posted By: KTzip @ 01/07/2008 6:32:44 PM

Those that attack Hillary's comments to the long hours of campaigning and show of true human emotion may consider how they may be blinded to a person who gives a rats ass about this country. The campaign has been running full steam for all candidates since summer. The recent debates showed the demands and long hours on all candidates faces. Her honest emotion today is not a sign of breaking down, as some quick to judge have eluded to, but a promise that she has the strength and fortitude to press on with her heartfelt plan to end the war, health care for ALL, and getting our country back on track. It's easy to put up a facade of smiles, smirks, lies and deceptive promises like we have had the last seven years from Bush. No wonder some of you are sceptical of a Hillary Clinton who genuinely cares about the future of America. We have not seen honesty in a long time from our President or his adminstration. Nor have we come to expect it.
    You got my vote Hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Viktek @ 01/07/2008 6:48:07 PM

      I couldn???t agree more!
She shows that her strength as no one in this race.
Hillary got my respect and my vote!!!

  • Posted By: nbctjon @ 01/07/2008 6:47:10 PM

The only politician I want to see cry is Pres. Bush when V.P. Cheney has him waterboarded

  • Posted By: jessicanaomi @ 01/07/2008 6:23:16 PM

Now Hillary Clinton is being human again, how dare she show that she is a woman -- a woman who feels deeply -- yep women are allowed to show emotions remember, not like men who are supposed to hold everything inside, including what they are really feeling. What we get with a woman in the White House is a person who actually cares about people. How dare she show her humanity.

    • Posted By: fireball777 @ 01/07/2008 6:27:27 PM

You really think Hillary give a %$#@ about you. Give me a break. You must be blonde.

        Fireball777, I bet you have a ***.

    • Posted By: smokified @ 01/07/2008 6:33:28 PM

Men do not hold everything inside, we just don't feel it is necessary to cry about everything. Why not get your facts straight before spoution off that ignorant crap shooter of yours.
