It comes as no surprise that Hillary shows a "new" face following her loss in Iowa and her drop in the New Hampshire polls. Maybe her show of emotion was genuine, maybe not. However, I would bet the farm that it would not have happened had she held her place as the frontrunner in these primaries. No doubt she has consulted the consultants who consult the constituents and determined that a show of vulnerability would increase her standing in the 18 to 50 year old female demographic by between 1.08 and 6.23 percentage points.

Tomorrow you can expect her to show her playful side as the fine people of Mire and Cloister Consulting have determined that dancing a jig lasting 2.8 seconds will increase her approval rating among high school and college students by as much as 7.04 percent. I can't wait.

Hillary is as transparent a politician as you will ever come across. She is a political machine, and that's no compliment. Data from polls, focus groups and political braintrusts are input while contrived emotions and vetted tag lines are output. She operates with the efficiency and regularity that Microsoft has aspired to since Windows 1.0.

I guess that's what some people want. It makes them feel safe. The problem is, we've had it before and it doesn't benefit the American people. We don't need someone who is an expert at playing it safe and responding to the day to day changes of the political winds. We need someone with vision and a sense of purpose. Most of all, we need someone sith integrity. There are enough sycophants in Washington. It's time for a change. Vote Obama!

    Bottom line:

I think Hillary Clinton must get back on that horse that brutally through her to the ground back in 1993. That horse is HR 676 (Medicare For all). Insurance mandates of any kind are totally unacceptable to the American people . Thank God. The vast majority of Americans know better than that now. They want single payer tax supported government managed universal health care free for all as a right. And they want it NOW! And they are right to demand it. The American people are suffering by the millions, and dieing by the ten's of thousands now. It's not just about everyone having coverage anymore. It's about the disgraceful quality of health care in America. Even for people with the best insurance coverage you can buy. And it has to end.

I have enormous admiration, and respect for Hillary Clinton. She fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds back in 1993. To prevent this disastrous health care crisis that is now devastating the American people, and America. She fought so hard for the American people that she risk almost completely destroying her husbands presidency. I haven't forgot her heroic effort. If anyone has reason to be reluctant to get back on that bucking bronc again, it's her.

But I think the time is now. And more importantly. I think the American people are ready to do what they have got to do. To fix our disastrous, and deadly health care delivery system. At least I hope so. For all our sakes. Hillary Clinton is right. This is not a game. It's bigger than parties, and politics. It's about the life, or continued needless deaths of millions of Americans. And HR 676 (Medicare For All) is the way to save us.

Hillary's tears or so-called tears is just for show. She is trying to make people, more specifically women, feel like they can relate to her when all she is doing it for is the almighty vote. She is behind Obama and deserves to be because he is definitely better than the two. I am a woman and am not voting for her just because she is a woman. Actually, I am not voting for her period! Everyone knows that women are emotional and take things to heart which is a great reason for her not to be in office. Someone needs to be in the Oval Office who is level headed and looking out for the best interest of Americans and this country. We need a President who is going to start fixing things here at home such as the abundance of homeless and unsecure borders instead of trying to fix everyone else's problems.

Did Hillary cry when she annihilated the White House Travel Office staff? Did Hillary cry when she used Naval Officers as bus boys at White House cocktail parties? Did Hillary cry when she forbade military officers to wear their uniform at the White House? Did Hillary cry when she mercilessly lashed out at others with her razor sharp tongue - not talking about Bill here. WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND. Hillary is so used to having it her way and dishing it out that she can't take it when she is oun the receiving end. Now she reverts to being a "helpless woman" to get sympathy. No sympathy here. People are smart and they know how ruthless and divisine a person she is.
Furthermore, her comment about "falling backward as a nation" is actually a reference to the loss of momentum in the feminist movement if she is not elected. Under her as president do you doubt that the cabinet and other governmetn agencies would be filled with women just because they were woman and not because they were the best candidate. Of course, there was always that ego thing about being the first woman president.

Kind of like now - the jobs are all filled with idiots. I'll take women over idiots any day.

A contrived bit of "human emotion" in response to a planted softball question, just when her campaign staff was struggling to re-humanize her in time for tomorrow's vote. Like someone said below, crocodile tears. Did you not notice how she attacked Obama even while she pretended to hold back tears?

Frankly, I don't know which would be worse: cynical, fake tears on cue, or genuine loss of emotional control by someone who can dish it out but can't even take it when Obama's treating her with kid gloves.

    In vulnerability lies true strength.

When it turns out the question was vetted(planted - in other words Hillary knew it was coming) will Hillary supporters change their tune?

YOU CLINTON AND OBAMA SUPPORTERS WOULD HAVE MORE CREDIBILITY IF YOU WOULD JUST LEARN TO SPELL

    • Posted By: hewhocares @ 01/07/2008 6:35:04 PM

Agree with spelling by "DUMPLIN". If you're truly educated you couldn't possibly screw up on "expidate" for
:escapade". if you're posting a derogatory comment about a politician, don't embarrass yourself by such a pitiful error in speech. Hope you don't go to the voting booth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will allways choose someone who will get a little teary eyed over the fallen nation over someone who will effectively destroy the integrity of an entire country with truly no remorse. I think that such a spontaneous show of emotion shows strength and compassion rather than mindless dehumanization we've seen under this administration. However, I don't think Hillary is being emotional; I think she's being manipulative, which relegates her to the other category.

I thought most women knew that if they teared up, they could win people over.

Please don't base your decision because she teared up, please. Margaret Thatcher doesn't tear up in public. Nancy Pelosi doesn't tear up. Being won over by tears shows your own vulnerability and emotionality, and that's NOT a good thing. You need to remain rational.

This woman has endured more criticism, and blatant attacks then any woman I have know since I have been following politics in the 60"s. She is articulate, knowledgeable, educated, visionary, pro-family and pro-American, and understands the United States on the world scene (which if you haven't traveled internationally you have no idea how poorly we are perceived by other nations). Why she would even want the job of picking up Bushes messes to regain a stronger economy -budget crisis, China stronghold, wars, is beyond me, however, her faith in you and me and our ability to bring this nation back from the depths of a black hole going nowhere, and her vision for our future, not just "change" is what this election is all about.
We are so ignorant about how other countries are coping with making their world "greener", healthier, and more economically sound. I say, let the woman who started the band lead it, as everyone else has just gotten on her bandwagon. Give me a break Oprah! You don't even create a school in your own country the way Agassi has! Do I think less of Obama. Absolutely not. Is he moving along on momentum- absolutely. Should voters in two states influence my vote. Absolutely not. Get rid of the sound bites and the over analysis by the news so folks can think for themselves! Her tears (if there were any) was about her strong committment to this nation not about issues. This woman has taken more pressure than ANY politician in the running yet, with the exception of John McCain's military duty. GET REAL FOLKS!

My congressWOMAN has a picture of mrs. Clinton and her in a photo shoot shaking hands but it really looks like Hillary touching the plague, kinda like kissing the queen of Englands ring; but the expression on her face tells the story. it gives insight to the real Hillary. I wish I could post it here.

It is with great sadness I read the posts below. While I am not personally supportive of Senator Clinton's campaign, the fact that her "emotional state" is now "in play" is very, very sad. The comments also seem divided between men and women, with men making far more statements about her "whimi-ness" and her inability to make a "rational" action because she is mad/sad/angry/frustrated about the campaign. Wow...aren't those sorts of comments really a reflection of the Bush 7 years of "you can't tell me what to do" attitude? And, tears do not always mean weakness--they often represent the strongness and the commitment a person has to a goal and the frustration with all that is sad about you (right or wrong) by all those people who feel it is more productive to be critical rather than to look for positive changes. As I said, I do not personally support Senator Clinton, but I think this is a case to turn the camera/media back on us and ask, "what kind of people are YOU?"

I think that, as a people, we Americans need to decide which we want: A distant, emotionless leader, or a leader who has the strength to show impassioned feeling. As far as I'm concerned, no amount of calculated aloofness can beat the searing point of focused passion. Let's face it, we've had the Marlboro Man over and over again, and yet the leaders who balanced the budget and lightened the load for the people of our nation were the ones who were fully functioning human beings, not political pawns for corporate interests.

I have to add that we do not need a religous fanatic like Hucklebee in office either, talk about mirroring the middle east. We can see what a disaster religon plays in politics on a daily basis. Keep the bible thumpers in the church and let us elect a president on the true issues facing this country. Religon is not one of them, morals should not be legislated.

Hillary is the most qualified candidate period. She has never stopped trying to earn the respect of all Americans and was never the "inevitable" candidate in her eyes or in the eyes of the public. The media, especially MSNBC, has done great damage to her campaign and her message by labeling her, unfairly attacking her (yes, in part because she is a woman), and leaving her defenseless because she will never be good enough for the media. In fact, the media has "framed" the presidential debate by deciding for the american people what Hillary is thinking, feeling, intending, etc. I encourage some gifted author to write a book on how the media hijacked the 2008 presidential election!

finally.. there appears to be someone who has a heart., who actually cares about our country. What we have now is people who want to be the world power, the heck with american and the USA. Let's see how much we can put in our pockets. Not a stitch of heart involved. Just a mockery of our country. Tears, and a heart.
The media needs to take care on their comments. I disagree with most of them. Women can be strong, and most are stronger then men, when it comes to logic, decisions, the right move to make and extremely more diplomatic. Tears do NOT alter that fact. It shows she is a real person with a heart. I think anyone who has the guts to try to salvage our country personally needs their heads examined. Anyone that tries to take on the challenge that now exist, has to have logic and a heart, which is totally absent from our current government. I think Hillery Clinton just showed how strong she is, a real person!! She has proven herself with all the life challenges she has went through. Her cheating husband, who did his job GREAT, had our country in the plus column, the entire Nations did not hate us made a moral indiscression, but 80 0/0 of all our presidents have done that. Tht's a personal matter, not a countries matter. Wake up America, womem are much better in logic, tact, balancing budgets and running anything. This is the 21st century. Go Hillery..I'm all for you! birdtravel

I am sure a good percentage of people in here care about our country and are willing to help make a difference. Does that mean that they are all good candidates for president? No. The president needs to be a leader who has problem solving skills and the ability to keep it together when the going gets tough. We don't need somebody who gets all emotional. When you think with emotion you are never right.

First off, I am not a Democrat. However, she has passion for this country and wants to help us become the strong nation we once were. I would rather have someone in the white house who honestly cares and not only claims to be the face of change, but have plans for change. Hillary is not even my first pick, but after the debate on ABC, how can anyone not see that of al the Democrats running she is the only one with a stradegy? You can hate her because she is a Clinton if you like, but don't let a vendetta against the Clinton Legacy sway your vote against the person who will do the best job (for the democrats at least). The rest of these democrats are soft on everything from foreign policy to illegal immigration. Hillary has plans, and she is in it for this country's best interst. Why else would she be taking all of this flack from the media while Obama is never even questioned on his views and plans? I'd like to see anyone else take on that kind of scrutiny and pressure from both Democrats and Republicans. Tears or not that is a strong FOCUSED LEADER, which is a lot more than I can say for many of these candidates!
