This was EXATLY what I was afraid of. I, for one, would love to see a female residnt of the US If it were the right person. But the longer I watch Hillary, the more I realize why I dont think she is the right person for this job. If THE REAL HILLARY would PLEASE STAND UP! Then she might be worth considering. But when her speech's begin to turn to words of "I AM CHANGE" (taken from the pages of the Obama ampaign) and followd by "It's personal to me" (Taken from the pages of the Edwards campaign) . And now this, tears....TEARS............TEARS........ PUHLASSSSSSSE! This is not Hillary Clinton "Woman of steele"....This woman who I THOUGHT I wanted to vote for. She instead has become the media's puppet. Falling into the media game to win votes instead of standing tall, being real, being and "Ice Queen" as they put it. But that was the Hillary that I knew wouldnt crumble under the pressure.

Where is the woman who stood by her record?
Where is the woman who took on the world (Media and al under her husbands "issues"?
    Where is that person?

I think she has lost alot of respect by todays attempts to gain an emotional vote. She should stick to who she is. At least she can hold her head high when its all over.

Dont give up your self respect.

First off, I am not a Democrat. However, she has passion for this country and wants to help us become the strong nation we once were. I would rather have someone in the white house who honestly cares and not only claims to be the face of change, but have plans for change. Hillary is not even my first pick, but after the debate on ABC, how can anyone not see that of al the Democrats running she is the only one with a stradegy? You can hate her because she is a Clinton if you like, but don't let a vendetta against the Clinton Legacy sway your vote against the person who will do the best job (for the democrats at least). The rest of these democrats are soft on everything from foreign policy to illegal immigration. Hillary has plans, and she is in it for this country's best interst. Why else would she be taking all of this flack from the media while Obama is never even questioned on his views and plans? I'd like to see anyone else take on that kind of scrutiny and pressure from both Democrats and Republicans. Tears or not that is a strong FOCUSED LEADER, which is a lot more than I can say for many of these candidates!

I think both your headline and write-up were a bit more sensationalistic than what the video actually portrayed. I think if the other male candidates had exhibited similar behavior there would either not have been mention of it or it would have been deemd "a passionate show of heart." Mind you, I am not a female, nor one who may support Hillary. But I think some of this sensationalism is off-mark. And "we've seen this movie before" with replays of Howard Dean's "tantrum" last go round. Thank you very much.

Crying? There's no crying in politics! We do NOT need a President who cries in public. Can you imagine any one thing that would embolden our enemies more than a President in tears? Of course Ms. Clinton is not immune from human emotions, but showing those tears in public makes her look WEAK. And "get real", those tears stemmed from campaign pressures, which is NOTHING compared to the presidency.

A president with a dunce cap on?

  • Posted By: jd1976 @ 01/07/2008 6:15:35 PM

How wonderful to see the true emotions of a presidential candidate. I hope our next president, whether it is Clinton or not can be as decidedly committed to making our nation great again throughout his/her term. Thank you Hillary for going where no woman has gone before and doing it with grace and candor.

It is true she is taking a vedry bold step. She is however proving that she is not ready for it.

  • Posted By: DJ31 @ 01/07/2008 6:28:20 PM

Breaking down under the pressures of a campaign? hat would she do under a real world crisis? How can she, with her limited (none) experience, expect to govern the greatest nation in the world? Tears of sympathy would get my vote to govern the future for my grandchildren!!

I have no problem with a candidate who has soul enough to cry; what I have a problem with is bringing out the crocidile tears for political manipulation, which is what I think is the case here.

  • Posted By: uneek @ 01/07/2008 6:16:16 PM

tears are NOT a weakness....get real

    • Posted By: smokified @ 01/07/2008 6:27:36 PM

You are right, but they generally are a good sign that weakness is near by.

what a baby she is a whinp

I'm a man and I have no problem with the idea of a candidate male or female crying or tearing up. In my opinion Ed Muskie was a pretty wonderful politician. I've never thought less of him for his tears. Probably the opposite.

How dare Hilary show that she is a human being, not like the guys who give us only rhetoric and no results. The comments here prove that America is not ready for a thinking, feeling president. Voters just want another term of an idiot in the White House. They want guys who know how to con people into believing they really care. Those guys only want to get their fingers on the nuke button. How dare Hilary let us see her humanity

I absolutely agree with Minnesota's Finest. Somewhere along the line, everyone forgot that real experience counts, and this experience is now considered "history" and provides us with a clear picture of what is to come. Where is Obama's "history" of accomplishments proving him to be the better candidate?? Especially at this crucial moment in history when the reputation and the office of the President of the United States is at risk of becoming a joke. Like MN's Finest, I'm embarrassed to read all the petty insults readers are posting about a woman who in her little finger has done more then all of us combined in the interest's of our country while risking everything she stands for. If you're one of these people, I would love to know what qualifies you to say these things, and I'd also love to know what you've done lately in support of anything.

THere is no crying in Politics!!! Hilary there is no room for emotional displays, just the facts, solutions, and listening to the American People. Pay attention, listen to the public opinion on the issues and you might stand a chance.

  • Posted By: MeMyselfandI @ 01/07/2008 6:17:06 PM

All I can say is....she may have spoken from her heart, and many American feel the same as she does, but if she's elected President, is she going to send our troops into battle to fight for the good, or is she going to sit behind that big Oval Office desk I helped pay for and cry about it?! I'm a woman but, I still think this is why women should not be President! Get a hold of your self lady!

  • Posted By: oldmilkman @ 01/07/2008 6:25:31 PM

wheres the ball baby gonna turn up next hope not the whitehouse she isn't a leader she is a baby

  • Posted By: rheide1220 @ 01/07/2008 6:25:27 PM

biggest load of BS on earth. Hilary can kiss my backside, its all ust a ploy to garner support now that she's falling behind, is it a coincidence that the undecided were mostly women? I mean cmon how obvious does it have to be? not to mention the subtle shots at not only bush but obama as well.

  • Posted By: Dannyboy @ 01/07/2008 6:25:22 PM

Now we cannot have her tearing up and getting emotional over things. If she's going to be President, she should not weep and cry over things in front of the American people. This was obviously a desperate act to garner support because she's getting her a** handed to her.

  • Posted By: heather126 @ 01/07/2008 6:17:42 PM

Oh come on now, its not like she was crying over something that is in her personal life. Give me a break people, she is showing she cares about us, our nation and what happens. I think she would do a good job as President.

    • Posted By: smokified @ 01/07/2008 6:25:11 PM

I care a lot too, does that make me a good candidate? I am going to go start campaigning right now!!!! Once I cried because I got stung by a bee. Should I leak that to the press while I am campaigning? Do you think it will help?

A leader with passion has the ability to make decisions that are in the best interest of all individuals they are elected to lead.

    • Posted By: Give me the news @ 01/07/2008 6:25:06 PM

Wrong. Emotions cloud judgment. Just think back to your first love. Did pretty stupid crap didn't you? We all did. That is jus ONE example how emotions can cloud judgement. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!

  • Posted By: MeMyselfandI @ 01/07/2008 6:24:12 PM

All I can say is...she may have spoken like many American's feel, but this is why women should not be President! Are you going to send our Troops into battle or are you going to sit behind that big Oval Office desked I helped pay for and cry about it!!! Get a grip lady!! She may know what she's talking about "some" of the time, but if she starts to cry like a baby in every stress moment in this election, as President, she'll never get past picking out her new letter head!

  • Posted By: vidaverte @ 01/07/2008 5:33:43 PM

Why would anyone base their voting decison on a trivial 5-second snippet captured at a campaign event? Look at Clinton's record of service...then look at her rivals' records. If Obama teared up during a speech he would be lauded as passionate man who is unafraid to express his emotions. Obviously this country is still too mysoginistic to elect a woman president.

    • Posted By: coot1919 @ 01/07/2008 6:23:39 PM

What years of service? Hillary has never elected to anything until she "carpet bagged" herself to the voters in NY.
She lived in Arkansas longer than she lived in NY before running for the Senate.
Would the people of Arkansas elected her as their Senator? Probally not.
