Comment: Check out the CATCUFF. It's a quality, American made product that locks up a catalytic converter to the frame of the vehicle so that it simply cannot be removed. It's a one-size fits all product that is easy to install with household tools. The CATCUFF is tougher than nails and is only one-eighth the cost of other catalytic converter anti-theft products, but with even more metal-thief thwarting deterrence and no annoying rattling or vibration. You can learn more at http://www.catcuff.com

Comment: Dorene is NOT what the SPD tried to make her out to be. Keep in mind at the time this was going on Dorene REQUIRE sellers to show VALID ID which is recorded on all receipts. Dorene was not in line! SPD saw how trusting Dorene was being with them ???. Why would she not be ???since she was not doing anything of an illegal nature???.. they made the decision to USE her as their EASY scapegoat/POOR example!

Comment: There are STILL thousands of dollars being lost in all communities concerning stolen cat! Dorene offered to help the SPD when they first made their appearance. Instead they came in and plotted how to make Dorene an EASY TARGET. The so called evidence they are claiming fame to having turns out to be only Dorene buying a cat. Amazingly the audio is not able to be understood so it comes down to who would the FEDERAL jury believe. He said she said BS ???. why did they NOT go after the REAL thieves. Dorene keeps asking herself. Why did they not want to work with me on tracking down the stolen cats ??? because THEY are their informants???.

Comment: A fellow shop received a caller wanting to get rid of stolen cats. With his number on caller ID she immediately called the SPD to report the caller and TRIED to give his contact info??? To her shock and surprise???.. the SPD was not the least interested.... why ... because they did their BIG BUST at Miller Catalyzer... a whopping $149.00 worth of scrap. Thank goodness the Honorable Judge saw through the BS and gave Dorene the option to plea to a BS lesser charge so she can get on with her life , freeing up the court system for serious business at hand and allow Dorene to grieve the loss of her grandmother and other grandmother who suffered a stroke on top of learning a close family member was just diagnosed with cancer ??? just days before the ???Honorable Mention BUST.

Comment: Dorene is a law abiding citizen as the judge read in all the letters her supporters from all walks of life sent into the court (which by the way were not given to the court ???.lucky Dorene took copies to make sure the court read ALL the letters that were sent in for the presiding judge to read. ???.

All the SPD did with this case is show how low budgeted they are that they go after a innocent unsuspecting hard working single woman trying to do her JOB when these clowns come in and act like they are doing a job the public is paying them to do???. than claim Dorene was in on the just of their BS. Unfortunately Dorene lost more than her feeling of safety in her safe private frugal lifestyle, she lost her faith in the law enforcement agencies??? I hope in time that will change???

As far as the trafficking of stolen cats.... that will continue to go on until SPD steps up their work effort and go after the real problem ??? their informants! Until than Dorene will continue to help those that are affected. Dorene is still and will be forever bewilder as to why the SPD would use her as a scapegoat instead of an ally in cracking down on the thefts. I agree with many in the Stockton business community??? this was a very embarrassing move on the SPD. Than they continued to push the BS case on and on costing taxpayer thousands of dollars and court time was a bigger embarrassment. The sad truth is still cats r being stolen. A fellow business owner reported that in the past holiday weekend their shop in STOCKTON still had over 30 calls for stolen cat repairs in need. DID YOU READ THAT 30 cats stolen and that is just from one shop in STOCKTON. I am wondering why SPD did not look into their own neighborhood???.. I guess their informants forgot to mention their connections in Stockton???.

Comment: still wondering why SPD did not look in their own back yard .....in fact fellow business owners in stockton are in support of Dorene's innocence and are angury SPD did not go after who their informants are really dealing with... they needed a scapegoat and the fact of the matter is Dorene wanted to and offered to help the SPD track down the thieves... another Stockton business owner called the SPD just a week ago to turn in a caller looking to get rid of stolen cats and the SPD were not the least interested in taking down the information! Dorene.... depleated emotionally and finacially took the no contest plea to get on with her life. Even the judge saw the BS of this case and it was her decision so this embarresing matter could just be swept under the carpet. NO the cat are still HIGH in thief and Dorene is still helping those effected

Comment: Way to go NEWSWEEK! You did everything buit tell the damn crooks who hadn't known about this yet where to bring the stolen converters to get the best price! Or maybe that is going to be in the next article about this subject. Since there is little anybody can do to stop this, by spreading the word you are now part of the problem.

Comment: The automakers should stamp VIN numbers on catalytic converters as the vehicles are going down the assembly line. This can cut back on these thefts since the parts would be marked. And the automakers, with the way technology is advancing, should develop vehicles that can meet emissions standards WITHOUT a catalytic converter. With E-85 and sulfur free diesel fuel it can possibly be done.
