America is a sex negative Puritanical culture which is both obsessed with and repelled by the very notion of human sexuality. In America all women are judged in terms o the Madonna/prostitute complex. That is a woman is either :"loose" i.e/ a slut, whore, 'ho, skank, or nymphomaniac which means that she embraces her sexuality and celebrates her sexuality just as a man would--no more no less. Or she is a lady: i.e. classy, conservative and seemingly asexual. It's ludricrous that 40 years after the so-called sexual revolution , this double standard in sexual mores STILL exists. It should not. Even more ludicrous than the sex negativity of new millenium American society is the bizarre notion that a politician's choice of a wife (or husband) has ANYTHING to do with how well he or she will do the job. It's sad. And more than a little frightening that Americans are so narrow minded, sexually repressed, misogynistic, and downright stupid. Perhaps, as Kinsey supposedly once comented, it would have been better if the Puritans had srated home.

It's an insult to compare her to Jackie O. Jackie wouldn't strut her stuff like that, she was more tasteful. I would like to see Carla do something humanitarian or deal with some of the issues of her country, what ever they are. Then I'd be impressed.

To realnature: Agree. It would be good to see her do something more productive than behave like a teeny bopper. Princess Diana was beautiful, too, but she was also an asset to her country by being a humanitarian. Beauty fades eventually, and when it does, you had better have something more to offer.

Jakie to your eyes was what she was, to others around the world others might mean something else, have you ever thought about it. Not everything revolves around the U.S.A , it has been THE problem for a while, open your eyes, travel, meet other people and try understanding that not everything revolves around us.

Open your ears your eyes let's look at the future

I see a beautiful woman and an attractive man, presumably in love. Leave him alone to run the country and her to be his mate. She doesn't have to "prove" herself by "saving the children" or having some other political agenda. Leave them alone to be in love. And the black panties barely showing in picture 3.................get a hobby!!

  • Posted By: traveler9224 @ 08/05/2008 2:22:37 AM

Black panties, ok, big deal. I see a beautiful woman and an attractive man.........presumably in love. They just happen to be thrown into a political forum. Leave them alone!! He can run the country, She can do whatever she wants. There is no rule book that says she has to "save the children" or anything else!! A successful relationship for these two can be had without interference from all of us.

Really Who cares?? Aren't there some homeless people or hungry children we can focus on? How about the abused women who is sitting in fear or how about all the American families living from paycheck to paycheck trying to keep their homes..Why do we spend money to buy magazines to look at gossip??Why are we so shallow that this "bedazzles "us??

    • Posted By: star3 @ 08/05/2008 2:17:53 AM

Sniveld, for the same reason people, during the 30s depression, went to see Shirley Temple movies-to take their mind off their problems for awhile. People need some diversion from the constant exposure to the world's troubles. Just as Jesus said to his apostles when they suggested selling the perfume the woman was washing his feet with, and giving the money to the poor: "The poor will be with you always, but I will be with you only a short time." Jesus was not saying they should forget the poor, only that they should remember to take time to enjoy life while we have it now. Probably a poor example, but I'm sure you get the meaning. Sure, its shallow, its self-serving, but its also an outlet for the nervousness people feel concerning their life with all its worries. Maybe we should find a better way of doing that, but being interested in the trivial of other people's lives is part of the human condition, however, not the better part, I
      might add.

Life is too much complicated in the USA, which supposes to be the number one country in the world in matter of diversity of culture. when you look at California where 37% of the population are Spanish's, 11% Asians, black and so on.......
What about New York with a lot of Russians, polish, Germans, Caribbeans, Latinos etc?
USA supposes to be a more relaxable country for being the only one that I have tittled: five continents in the world. However, what I 'm seeing actually, politically, and socially speaking is quiet different from the reality of facts, more precisely does not testify that me and others conceive and admit as true.
Without going furthermore, France has made a lot of progress especially in matter of sports where when one sees the soccer team of France, one might say that's an African team.
In France, they don't say french-African, but simply French.
I would hope that America brings a certain change through its system, which will make us more compatible, likable, more respect for one and another.

I think today's woman is very loose. There is a certain amount of discretion that needs to be involved in the political world. All over the world, our men are smitten with loose women. Keep it in the bedroom please. When it comes to running a nation there is no time for glamor!!!!!!!!!!! Yah yah Yah!!!!!! She is a worldly woman and such a woman could bring the country to a piece of bread.

No one is wondering anything, John-they know America is the best. The only thing they may be wondering is how they can become Americans, and that, my darling, is why they are clamoring to come to America, even to the point of risking death as illegals. God Bless America isn't just a song, He really did bless us, and to those who are given much, much is expected. I hope we have done what He expected--has other countries done what He expected?

You can see her black panties peeking out of her super-low cut jeans in picture 3

She seems very narcissistic and reminds me of some other previous bimbo involved with a French leader... oh yeah, Marie Antoinette... "Let them eat cake!"

    • Posted By: John Mark @ 08/05/2008 1:26:19 AM

I don't think you really know about Marie Antoinette "Let them eat cake"

You know, they say that there are only two ways for a woman to get ahead in the world, she either uses her head or gives it. Jackie Kennedy was a glorified trophy wife from the 50's who once she lost her husband went and gave herself over to that hideous Aristotle Onassis, and when she got millions out of him, settled with a diamond trader. Carla Bruni has her own money from years working as a supermodel, despite being an heiress to a fortune. It's clear that she's attracted to intelligence and power. She's stunning, she's clearly smart and talented, plus she does not hide who she is and wears herself on her sleeve. As for her personal life, in the words of the former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, the state has no business in the bedrooms of it's citizens. You Americans need to get out of yourselves a bit more.

I think she's wonderful and we in America are too obsessed with image and are too Puritanical in nature. I don't believe you should base someone's political prowess on the way their wives dress, look or speak but rather on their political decisions. Be free in you thoughts!

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is in no way like Jackie Kennedy. Jackie had exhibited a graceful demeanor. You could tell that she was a woman of discretion. This Carla Bruni-Sarkozy appears to be a lot of fun, but thats about all.
