Comment: Anna Quindlen makes an excellent point. "One of the reasons so many young people easily embraced Obama and easily wrote off Clinton is because of the diverse society they take for granted. His race was no bar and her gender was no gift." Amen. God Bless the young people who are ready to create a society beyond race and gender. And God Bless Barack Obama who will lead us there.

Voting for or against someone because of race or gender is wrong. Being biased in favor of somone is just as bad as being biased against someone. This is a perpetuation of superficiality into politics. This dynamic seems much more so from the Hillary Clinton supports. We always see signs of women for Hillary, but when do we see that for Barack. We also have two political families that have a strangle hold on the highest office in our government. The fact that they work together behind the scenes is particulary disconcerting but no seems to care. You don't have to vote for Hillary because you think this is your one chance to get a women in the White House. If an African American gets in, it breaks the male Caucasian mindset and makes it very likely a women gets in very soon. This would be especially true if Barack looks for a female Vice President as a running mate. Which is possible in order to heal the rift with disgruntled female democratic voters if Hillary were not to get the nomination.
