I admire her, if she wins the NOD, she will get all my support. Senator Clinton, is an extremely smart person, she gets into the nuances of legislations and in legislative body, she is curious, informed and knows very well the surroundings, which favors all of us. I don't agree with some of the comments posted here about her husband. We had and enjoyed the best economy ever during the Clintons. Deficit low, unemployment rate low, employment jobs high, middle class growing and the biggest home ownership. I was a good time in our country. We were respected around the world. Yes, we had the hick ups of his private life, but we Americans are not stupid, we know very well, the republicans did this by full force b/c, they had to destroy his good reputation around the world and his presidency somehow. The both are visionaries and this is what this country needs at this time, right NOW. . By the way, they were also good on terrorism. The fought against it, they captured the responsible of the first Twin Towers attacked and send him to prison for life. They prevented another terror plot in the eve of 2000. You don???t??? know about or didn???t??? know about it, because he did PROTECTED US. When Bush took office Clinton told him to be aware of Bin Laden and that he needed to track him down. Of course, we all know what happened. Our president was on vacation most of the time and demoted Richard Clark who had the experience on working in Counter-Terrorism. If don't believe it, read Clark's book. Clinton did the impossible to fight terrorism and all the republicans, the media and 50% of Americans only wanted to know and be concerned was on his private life. If Americans are smart and want to go back to the glory days, we all shout vote this extremely intelligent woman!.

Things were good when Clinton was in office. But in his legacy he left us with NAFTA! Do you really have to ask why our economy is so bad?

How can the job to run America be down to ones race and gender?

    • Posted By: dgarrand @ 01/17/2008 7:24:51 AM

I am not voting on race or gender---I am listening to the debates and paying attention to where the candidates stand on the issues that are important to me. There just happens to be a woman and an African American running for President. If everyone had voted this way in the last two elections we wouldn't have had Cowboy Bush in office. Of course, it also helps if all votes are counted. I am not looking for perfection here---when President Clinton was in office, this country and the American people were in pretty decent shape. With President Bush we have been lied to big time over and over---thousands of our young people and thousands of innocent Iraqis' are dead because of these lies--are you paying attention? I doubt if Senator Clinton or Senator Obama would appreciate votes just based on their gender or race----listen to the candidates---listen to their positions on the issues---then vote your choice. The rest of us depend on it.

    Hillary is the one!!!
    She is a true leader!

  • Posted By: dumbasafox @ 01/16/2008 7:36:48 PM

Every woman knows that to be on the same level as men in terms of leaderhship, she has to work three times harder to get there. She has to be smarter, tougher and have more courage.. Hillary has all of those traits. What we need right now is someone with the balls to put this coutnry back on track. Ironically, the woman has it.

Shame on the American people for misleading Clinton into thinking she belongs anywhere near the White House. Ethically devoid, morally bankrupt bottom-feeders who have brought shame and embarrasement to our highest office - no suprise the world despises us. Bad enough we've got Rain Man (Without the math skills) in office now, you want to put the Clintons back in there for no other reason than she's female? Well, the upside is, maybe the taxpayers will get some of the White House furniture back...

Very well said. I'd vote for you.

  • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/16/2008 10:38:28 AM

Hillary is a woman. Obama is black. Romney is white. Is there ANYONE out their who didn't realize this the first time they saw a picture of these candidates? Race and gender only plays a part in the election if you vote FOR or AGAINST the candidate based upon these obvious points. Is it 'historical' that a woman or black person is running for president? Not really - Ferraro, Jackson, Sharpton, etc. have all wasted money running for the highest office in the land. These two are no different...

A Clinton/Obama ticket would be the solution to all those who can't bear to choose. That's what I'm hoping for anyway. Hill gets her eight years, then Obama gets his (with lots more experience at THAT point). This would give us a few good administrations in a row to fix what Bush has wrecked in the past eight years, domestically and abroad. Edwards would be a good choice for Attorney General, IMHO.

That would give BOTH the racists and the sexists a reason not to vote Democrate. Nothing like uniting your enemies..

Hillary the Great! I tithe my bi-weekly paycheck to her.

    • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/16/2008 10:31:25 AM

Wait, if she is elected, she will get the other 90 percent.

  • Posted By: francurrocary @ 01/16/2008 6:57:14 AM

Excellent article and great cover of a competent, presidential-looking candidate. Thanks for not showing Hillary the scowler, without emotion, with emotion, haggard, butch and ballbuster, too smart, too tough, not touch enough. We've had enough spin. Nice to get to the substance. Mr. M. Romney. Lithuanians is with you.

  • Posted By: Rolandas Tucas @ 01/16/2008 4:26:33 AM

Mr. Romney is more better for USA.

  • Posted By: phenomenon11 @ 01/15/2008 11:11:39 PM

I am extremely disappointed with this article that is nothing but indirect / surrogate marketing in its most subtle form. Newsweek has too much credibilty and stature for publishing this "manufactured consent" like articel at this point of the election campaign.

  • Posted By: phenomenon11 @ 01/15/2008 11:08:05 PM

This is an indirect propoganda piece that is the hallmark of today's "manufactured consent" journalism, I am extremely disappointed that a magazine like Newsweek is doing this
