The Detroit Auto Show 2008

TKTK

Let's call this year's Detroit Auto Show, the bimodal motor show. Automakers attempted to put their best green wheels forward. But this is Detroit, after all, so there was still a stampede of horsepower. Kid Rock kicked it all off by introducing the outrageous Corvette ZR1 while wailing, "I'm a longhaired, redneck, rock 'n' roll son of Detroit." And if you have to ask the price ($100,000) or gas mileage (low teens at best), this road rocket isn't the car for you. But Detroit attempted to atone for their horsepower excesses with other earth friendly offerings at this split-personality show. You'll see some of them in our Top 10 cars of the 2008 North American International Auto Show. STAN HONDA/AFP/Getty Images
